Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2005 22:24:13 -0000 From: Beverly Taff Subject: Dog Day Afternoon Chapter 18 Two by Two Chapter 6 Eight months later, Vicky noticed Zeta beginning to thicken around the middle. Being a vet, she gently palpitated Zeta's tummy and confirmed her suspicions. Vicky had long since known that she was pregnant to Zac. In fact, she was eight months gone with triplets and already enjoying maternity leave. Vicky had been wondering for months, why Zeta had not become pregnant then she began to have suspicions. 'Perhaps Zeta was affected by some sort of pheromones that established her 'Beta' status.' In the normal pack structure only the Alpha bitch could breed, unless food conditions were abundant and there was ample space for rapid expansion of the pack. Then sometimes, the 'Beta' pair could raise a litter. Zeta must have somehow responded to the pheromone structure in their exotic family arrangement and suspended conception until the 'Alpha' bitch was ready to deliver. Vicky hugged herself with excitement as she studied the daily series of frozen urine and blood samples she had gathered from all four of them during her pregnancy. When she returned to work, the samples would provide an excellent opportunity to study pheromonal effects on canine pack behaviour. She admitted to herself that the pollutant human pheromones would make the research technically invalid, but the circumstances would still form an excellent basis for formulating a more certain theory for one of her doctorate students to research a degree. By conducting her own private research on the family samples, Vicky would be able to provide a PhD.' student with an excellent starter hypothesis. Vicky hugged herself when she realised that Zeta and she would probably deliver within days if not hours, of each other. That very minute, she took two further blood samples from herself and Zeta. After studying the final samples under her microscope, she stopped running the samples. The stress of taking further samples might upset Zeta's pregnancy and now that she was pregnant, the pheromone behavioural question was no longer an issue. She then bundled both dogs into the car and drove to the college where she met Steve in the labs. There she broke the news. Steve let out a whoop of joy and hugged Vicky tightly. Everything was working out O.K. "Hey, steady on darling," giggled Vicky as Steve hugged her tightly. "I'm in a very delicate condition now. You and Zac are going to have to treat both of us girls much more tenderly." "How far gone is Zeta," demanded Steve eagerly. "About a month or maybe a bit more, I've suspected it for a week but I wanted to wait until I could be certain. She'll be having her puppies at about the same time as our triplets. I thought you'd have noticed what with you sleeping with her every night. She's grown quite plump." "I'm a doctor, not a vet." "Well you'd better not indulge in any relations from now on. I'm not sure how she'll be affected. Bitches don't usually have sex morning, noon and night. It might cause her puppies to abort if she continues having sex at that rate." Steve nodded dejectedly. He had been enjoying excellent sex with Zeta so to forego it until after the birth of the puppies would be a real sacrifice. 'Still', he thought, 'better than causing any harm to the puppies.' Vicky kissed him for being so agreeable. "By the way, I'm going for a final scan on our triplets next week. It'll be the last one. D'you want to come?" "Yes, of course. Make it Wednesday then we can all come along." Vicky reached out and kissed Steve as she whispered affectionately. "I already have. Did you think I wanted you to miss it?" "D'you think the doggy factor is what caused you to have triplets?" wondered Steve aloud. "You know, multiple births and all that." "It might be. There's no history of twins or triplets in either of our families," observed Vicky. This led the conversation around to the effects of pheromones and they inevitable fell to discussing Vicky's pheromone theory. Next they discussed any potential commercial or medical development and listed some likely PhD students who might be suitable to research any findings that Vicky made. They talked into late evening before Steve drove them home. Vicky had grown huge carrying the triplets and the day had worn her out. A month later, everything fell neatly into place. Vicky and Zeta had their babies without any complications. The triplets turned out to be identical twin girls and a boy whilst Zeta had five of the prettiest puppies imaginable. Vicky and Steve were ecstatic. "A complete family at one single stroke," he grinned as he held all three babies in his arms. By this time, Vicky was too exhausted to say or do anything. Immediately after delivering the babies, she fed them briefly then fell asleep. It was the following morning before she was properly able to cope and by the time they were discharged she had developed a regular routine. When she got home, she was pleased to find that Steve had arranged a nanny called Sally to help with the triplets. Within a few weeks, the household had settled into a regular routine. Vicky had returned to work and Sally brought the babies in to college to be breast-fed every four hours. At other times, Sally took charge of the babies, the puppies and some light house-cleaning duties. Within a few months, Sally became a regular site in the park with her special pram carrying the triplets and a pack of Alsatians walking obediently to heel. It was an amazing sight to see the two adult dogs controlling their puppies and Sally received hundreds of compliments. On weekends of course, Steve and Vicky did the honours whilst Sally took time off. After a few months, Vicky was recovered and she regularly indulged in some gentle jogging whilst Steve took more vigorous exercises. Zeta usually accompanied Steve whilst Zac and the puppies stayed close to Vicky and the triplets. It was while Vicky was gently trotting along with her new buggy that she eventually formed a new friendship with a trio of girls and their dogs. She had often seen the group jogging strenuously at a level far beyond her current condition. Then one day, she was jogging gently along pushing her buggy when she bumped into them as they came around a blind bend where the bushes grew dense. The trio and their pack of dogs came hurtling at speed around the bend and ran straight into Vicky with her entourage of Babies and dogs. For a moment, Vicky panicked. She thought the dogs would start fighting, but their training held and after a brief state of chaos, order was restored. The dogs settled obediently whilst the puppies gathered behind their respective fathers and gazed curiously at each other. The three girls noted Vicky's dogs and grinned. "Snap!" they chorused in union and then fell about giggling at their identical responses. "Uh, snap," replied Vicky as she gaped at the other dogs. "So you like Alsatians too." Observed the taller woman. "And babies," grinned Vicky as she checked to see if her triplets were O.K. She had swerved rather sharply to avoid the leading jogger and then collided with one of the other two. Her babies must have had quite a jolt. "Are you OK?" she asked. The girl checked that her knee was OK then smiled. Her tights weren't even torn or laddered. "Yes I'm fine. It was the soft part that struck me. No harm done. Vicky sighed with relief and checked her babies again. "Oh! Can we see?" Asked the third girl. As one the trio bent forwards and studied the babies lying 'top to tail'. "Oh my gosh! Triplets." They chorused again. Vicky was becoming amused. The three women seemed to share the same brain. She nodded her head as the girls peered in closer. Zac let out a low growl and moved forward to protect the babies. This elicited a similar response from the other adult male dog. "Billy Sit!!" Ordered one of the women as she turned again to Vicky. "Can we hold them?" "Vicky wasn't sure what to do. She didn't know the women from Adam and they outnumbered her three to one, not to mention the dogs. She counted fourteen and their puppies were much bigger than Zac's five puppies; almost full grown she noticed. She didn't sense any threat but one could never be certain. There was nobody else close to hand and her nervousness became obvious. The three women hesitated as they sensed Vicky's nervousness. Eventually one responded to reassure her. "OK. We understand. We're here every day. Perhaps another time." Vicky began to feel terrible. She hadn't wanted to snub the girls, after all, nearly every normal woman liked to hold a newborn baby in their arms. Three girls and three babies; Vicky began to feel she had been a little churlish. The girls seemed perfectly ordinary and perhaps she had over-reacted. She wanted them to stay and chat for it was a rare treat to talk babies with ordinary people. All day she was working or lecturing and in her spare time she was with Steve. The chance meeting in the park was a refreshing break. Fortunately Steve appeared at that moment with Zeta close to heel. Vicky relaxed. The odds were now in her favour. She unclipped the buggy cover and held her son out to one of the girls as they turned to study Steve. "Oh it's OK. This is my husband, you're welcome to hold the babies." With the appearance of Steve, the women realised Vicky's nervousness had passed. They grinned to each other as they realised that they must have presented an imposing group to a single mother alone in the park with only a single dog and a litter of puppies to protect her. They quickly defused the impasse by accepting her offer and gathered eagerly around the buggy. Within moments they had settled on a nearby park seat and each woman was playing with a baby. Introductions and names were quickly exchanged as they fell to talking about babies and dogs. Vicky was enchanted to learn that Betty, the taller girl was also a vet, the smaller girl named Jacky, was her nursing assistant, whilst the third girl, Beverly owned the huge Alsatian dog called Billy and his litter of puppies. As they chatted at length, the puppies soon began playing with each other and Zeta. Both Zac and Billy however, seemed more reserved and they simply watched protectively from opposite ends of the park seat. They were obviously keeping their distance. "Where's the puppy's mother?" asked Vicky innocently. "Oh she's not here today." Replied Beverly hesitantly. Vicky sensed a ripple of uncertainty but thought no more about it. She found the trio's company to be stimulating and original. Time flew by and even the normally introverted Steve came out of his shell. Strangely, the more Vicky chatted, the more she felt any threat diminish. It was quite obvious that none of the trio showed any predatory interest in her husband and that pleased her. At first, Vicky thought they might be a lesbian trio but their reactions to her triplets and their own interrelationships seemed to point away from that spectrum. Nevertheless, there was something not quite perfect about them. Occasionally, the trio seemed guarded when the conversation touched on certain subjects and they always seemed to guide the conversation away when she mentioned them. The none-appearance of the puppy's mother was one taboo topic and where the three girls lived was another. None of the three girls seemed prepared to discuss their neighbourhood. As the evening chill, beset them, they made their excuses and Vicky and Steve watched them jog easily across the park towards a large 'people-carrier'. "Nice people," observed Steve as he watched the three tight little tushes bouncing provocatively inside their tights and leotards. Vicky noticed the giveaway bulge developing in Steve's trousers and realised Zeta would be busy tonight. "Come on you. It's time we went home and got these babies fed." It was several moments before Steve's wandering mind reacted to Vicky's instructions and she rolled her eyes with patient indulgence. 'Poor old Steve," she mused. "Ever since receiving Zac's testicles, his libido was working overtime. Eventually Steve's gaze fell upon Vicky again and he grinned guiltily as he adjusted his pants. "Sorry love. You must admit though, they're nice girls." "Oh yes! They're very nice, very nice girls indeed. Just remember you can look but not touch." Steve grinned and hugged Vicky to him. "I've got all I want in you and Zeta. That's more than enough for any normal man." Vicky swallowed guiltily as she considered his words. "The trouble was,' she confessed to herself, 'that with Zac's balls pumping all that testosterone around Steve's body, he could not be considered a 'normal' man. She was only too glad that Zeta kept him busy enough to satisfy his overpowered libido. As he slackened his embrace, Vicky nodded towards their own car. "Come on, time to go home, my breasts are beginning to ache." As Vicky trotted towards the car, Steve had a final 'wild moment' with the triplets in the buggy and whizzed them squealing with delight around the park whilst the dogs gambolled and barked excitedly. Vicky grinned as she watched her brood 'letting off steam'. Never had she felt more content and fulfilled. So much so, that she was even considering, trying sex with Steve, that very night. She had come very close in the last few weeks That evening, for the first time in her life, Vicky finally managed to indulge in a normal act of love. For weeks now, she had been gradually lowering the barriers and carefully advancing their foreplay with each adventure under the bedclothes. That night, something finally clicked inside her and she achieved full consummation. She didn't orgasm of course; she realised that was a long way off, but Steve managed to penetrate her and there was no pain. Vicky sobbed with relief as she savoured the moment and considered the huge emotional hurdle she had just cleared. For the rest of the night, she lay curled up between Zac and Steve alternately sobbing with relief then hugging herself ecstatically until she fell into a deep contented sleep. Things were finally coming right for Vicky. For the next few months, Vicky felt she was ascending a ladder to nirvana. Her relationship with Steve finally reached its zenith and the friendship with the three girls in the park blossomed. The only worrisome issue for Vicky was that the mother bitch never appeared with Beverly's puppies. It was only ever the father, the dog Billy. 'Still' she concluded, 'there must be a genuine reason for the mother's absence.' Then one day, the inevitable happened. Steve had left to go upon a short lecture tour and Vicky was alone at home for a month. The second Saturday morning she was jogging in the park with the babies and the dogs but she was feeling pretty lonely and it showed. Betty, Jacky and Beverly decided to cheer her up and invited Vicky to their regular Saturday afternoon barbecue. Vicky seized the chance for some company and accepted the invitation immediately. She didn't even go home to change, but simply bundled the babies and the dogs into the people carrier and drove over to Jacky's house. It was only when she arrived that she realised Betty and Jacky lived close to the gay village. It puzzled her for a moment, for they had never shown any sign of being sexually attracted to each other. She hesitated outside Betty's house as she pondered the situation then she took the plunge. Her 'car decanting routine' was well practised by now. Zac and Zeta kept the puppies in order whilst she unshipped the buggy and transferred each of the triplets with practised speed. She had completed the task before Betty and Jacky had realised she was outside the house. They rushed out all apologetic as Vicky was wheeling her brood up to the door. "You should have come around the back," advised Betty, "your car can come through the rear gates." "Well you take the children and Jacky can show me," replied Vicky. "Where are your dogs?" "Down with Beverly. They're her dogs. She'll be along later." "Where does she live?" "Jack's bar. That big place on the corner of Eighth and Central." "What. D'you mean the uuhm, gay bar; the transvestite place?" "Yes." Replied Betty without even reacting as she hoisted one of the triplets into her arms." "Is she gay then?" "No. Not exactly." Vicky shrugged then continued lifting the babies out of the buggy and placing them in a large playpen on the rear patio. "Would it worry you if she was?" Pressed Jacky. "No." Vicky felt the tension ebb away but she ignored it. She turned to Jacky. "Come on, you can show me how to take the car around the back." Jacky's shoulders seemed to unbend with relief as she breathed deeply and nodded her head. "You don't mind gays then?" She asked as they climbed into the car. "Not at all. We are what we are. Why? Are you and Betty lovers?" "Like the song," grinned Jacky ignoring Vicky's direct question. "What song?" "You know; 'I am what I am'." "Oh that. I've never worried about it. We all have our crosses to bear." Jacky felt she sensed something being 'unsaid' but she did not press it. The easy unconcerned way that Vicky had accepted whatever relationship she and Betty shared, left Jacky feeling deeply relieved. She gave directions past several blocks and took Vicky through the gay village for good measure. It was an unspoken way of confirming that She and Betty had a relationship. "There's Jacks Bar." Pointed Jacky. "Oh. It's bigger than I imagined." "What," grinned Jacky. Did you expect a hole in the wall? A squalid little dingy back-street dive." "No. Not that; but you must admit. It takes up the whole block." "And the hotel on the next block." Observed Jacky. "Look at the name; Jack's Hotel." "Is that were Beverly lives?" "No. She lives in that apartment on the second floor of the club. Look, up there, overlooking the intersection." "What, the big windows?" "Yes." "Wow! Some pad!" "Well she's part owner. Jack lives out of town with his wife and family." "Oh. I didn't realise Beverly had shares in the place. It's become quite famous." "Oh yes. She's done very well, considering where she came from. Oh look! There she is, coming out now. Stop and pick her up!" Vicky tooted and Beverly waved as her dog Billy barked eagerly. They clambered into Vicky's people-carrier and Vicky noticed that there were less puppies. She asked if Beverly had sold some. Beverly confirmed that she had given them away to good homes. "You don't breed for money then?" "Good gracious me no. These puppies are special. I make sure that they go to good homes where I can keep in touch with them. All of them live locally. There will be no more puppies for a long while." "Glad to see you don't over-breed their mother, " agreed Vicky, "but it's a pity she never comes out with you. Is she ill or something?" "No, she's fine. She's just a bit shy of strangers." Replied Beverly, reddening slightly. Vicky ignored her reaction and concentrated on manoeuvring the people carrier through the narrow rear gates of Betty's garden. The barbecue was getting under way and several people were playing with her triplets. One was even trying to teach her son to walk. Zac and Zeta let out a whine of concern and dashed from the people carrier to check the babies over. Their concerns quickly abated when everybody started making a fuss of them and the puppies. Before long, the barbecue was in full swing and Vick savoured the easygoing atmosphere. It appeared that Betty and Jacky chose their friends well and Vicky quickly felt at ease. Even though she was still wearing the tight revealing leotard and tights, nobody once made a pass or made her feel uncomfortable. Vicky concluded that gays and suchlike were far more respectful and tolerant of an individual's space, or at least, Betty's friends were. The company proved so convivial that she left the party much later than anticipated. By the time she arrived home, the babies were fast asleep. On the Sunday, Steve returned from his lecture tours and Vicky indulged him with a veritable orgy of sex. Now she was 'cured' Vicky felt she had every right to 'make up' for the lost years of sexual denial. It was a shattered Steve that wobbled to work on his bicycle that following Monday morning. The following Saturday, Vicky persuaded him to forgo his researches and accompany her to Betty's regular weekly barbecue. The friendship between the five dog lovers blossomed and after six months the three girls slowly let down their guards. Steve and Vicky were stunned yet secretly excited when they learned of the truth behind the three friends. The most stunning discovery was the fact that Beverly had actually born the puppies and that her pet Alsatian, Billy, was the actual father. Both of them were overwhelmed when Beverly finally revealed her 'secret anatomy'. "You mean you actually carried the whole litter to full term and bore them naturally through your canine vagina!" Gasped Vicky. Beverly nodded and crimsoned slightly until Vicky hugged her tight and put her at her ease. "And you were a transsexual boy before all this!" Observed Steve; intrigued to meet a real 'post-operative' transsexual. Beverly nodded again and curled up defensively on the settee. Steve recognised her 'body language' and moved to put her at her ease. Gently he stroked her hand then stepped into the kitchen to prepare some coffee. Vicky watched him leave then cuddled up to Beverly and whispered in her ear, "He's very, very understanding. He waited for months before we finally consummated our relationship, and even then, it was me who made all the moves. Your secret is safe with us." Vicky felt Beverly's body sag with relief so she hugged her again to reassure her. She debated telling Beverly of her own circumstances but decided to wait until she had discussed it with Steve. In the meantime, Beverly unbuttoned her frock then placed Vicky's hand on her tummy. Vicky gasped as her fingers discovered the secret of Beverly's lingerie. Beverly twitched salaciously and Vicky squeaked softly as she giggled. "D'you mean to say that all your nipples are erotic?" Beverly nodded her head and squirmed breathlessly as Vicky's fingers lingered over the soft satiny cuplets of her body shaper. At that moment, Steve returned with the coffee and Vicky whipped her hand away. Steve had not noticed their activity and they settled down to share the cookies with the dogs. By this time, Zac and Billy had become friendly and they settled affectionately on the settee alongside the girls whilst Zeta and the remaining puppies clustered around Steve, Betty and Jacky. That night, as they drove home, Vicky persuaded Steve into declaring their own zooerotic relationships to the three girls. The following Saturday, they finally revealed all their secrets and the five of them giggled and laughed as they each revealed their peccadilloes. Their friendship became even tighter when Steve and Vicky were introduced to Molly, the corsetiere who made Beverly's special lingerie. Their friendship had now become a virtual secret society. By this time Steve and Beverly were now fully on top of their work. Their respective lecture courses were well established and a lot of research projects were finishing off as the end of the academic year was approaching. Steve and Vicky had persuaded Beverly, Betty and Jacky to accompany them on a vacation and as June approached, their festive holiday mood intensified. They flew to Northern Canada then arranged for three 'camper vans' and a 4x4 to tour the Mackenzie River basin. Their main objective was to study wolves and collect plant samples. It was during the second week that catastrophe befell them. Steve was driving alone along a narrow dirt road and misjudged a narrow rutted bend. The 4x4 veered off the road and crashed into a narrow gorge. Steve's neck was broken and his body badly burned. His legs and arms were terribly deformed and twisted by the breaks and scarring. Zac suffered massive brain and scull injuries that left him a virtual canine vegetable. Fortunately, Zeta had managed to escape injury and streaked back to camp. Her single arrival signalled an emergency and the girls drove off with Zeta loping ahead as a guide. They were fortunate to discover the wreck that same evening before night fell. Steve was 'helicoptered' to hospital whilst Vicky and Betty persevered with Zac. The upshot was that Steve was a serious quadriplegic whose limbs had become twisted burned stumps. They also faced the added horror of having Zac put to sleep. Vicky was hysterical with grief. Steve was totally paralysed. Fortunately, his main body trunk was not burned so his respiration was not seriously affected or he would have suffocated at the scene of the crash. Nevertheless, Steve faced a lifetime in an intensive care bed utterly paralysed from the neck down. For several weeks, Vicky was too distraught to face the situation. She could not even face turning off Zac's life support where he was lying in a coma at her laboratory. Every day, Beverly, Betty or Jacky came around but there was no improvement for either of the 'boys'. Vicky was becoming depressed and Steve was sinking into a deeper and deeper state of depressed introspection.
