Date: Wed, 10 May 2006 21:32:47 -0600 From: Cornhusker Fan Subject: Surviving the Apocalypse part 1 Howdy readers. This is a new story line that has been rattling around in side for a while. Really not sure where it will go, so hope you will let me know what you think. This story will feature sexual acts between adults and children, so if that's not your cup of tea, then move along please. The story is strictly fantasy, pure fiction. No part is true in any way. The author, nor any website that might post this, does not condone illegal sex with children. Also, though little or no protection is used in this story, please always practice safe sex. Author's note - I have never been any part of a military unit, and profess no real knowledge of the military (except for my admiration for and gratitude to those serving our country), so please do not look for any accuracy in the information contained in the story. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was a beautiful, sunny day in early June. The sky was a beautiful clear blue that seemed endemic to this part of the country. There was a slight breeze, the birds were singing. If you lived with your head in the clouds, or buried in the sand, you could almost believe that all was right in the world. But it wasn't. No, from everything you heard on the news channels, and rumors I had confirmed by old friends in the Pentagon, relations between the nations of the world were deteriorating rapidly. The super powers, and many not so super powers, were rattling their swords, trying to scare the others into backing down. During my career in the military, I had seen plenty of action. As a Lieutenant, I had been in the Mideast during the post 911 wars. A few years later, now as a Major, I had been deployed to Korea during the 2nd Korean war. And I saw action in the armed struggle in Europe in the early 2020's. I retired a full Colonel at the age of 50, having done my duty, and ready for civilian life. Now a few years later, I was rushing to finish my preparations for what I felt could well be the war to end all wars. Thankfully, as a single man in the military with no family to support, I had saved and invested my salary well. Combined with the well-invested inheritance from my folks, I had more than enough money to do what I felt was necessary. I had built a large bunker underground on the property I owned - 2-foot thick concrete walls, with a 3" layer of lead within them. I had the most sophisticated air filtration system money could buy built into it. Well below the earth, it would be an impenetrable fortress for me to wait out the madness of the world if it came to that. If not, it would serve as a dandy tornado shelter/enormously expensive storage shed! Based on my calculations, myself and possibly a few others could survive in this shelter for a month. I didn't believe any holocaust would be nuclear, so I hoped a month would be the longest it would be needed. And if it were nuclear, I didn't know if I would want to survive the after affects of the horror that would bring anyway. Many of my neighbors had looked on as "Bob's Boondoggle" was built, scoffing at my hemorrhaging of money into it. And though I still got on well with most of them (a couple were assholes long before I started building), I had no intention of trying to save all of their lazy asses when they could have been making their own preparations. Most of them thought of me as one of those survivalist nuts that are preparing for the end of the world that would never come. They were right on the first part, way off on the second part. And why they couldn't see it, I have no idea. The final stage of my preparations would take place tomorrow - a massive grocery-buying spree to stock my shelter. I already had 100's of gallons of fuel for the generators in the deep underground storage tanks (with feeds directly to my generators), and 2 other deeply buried 1000-gallon tanks filled with water. These tanks had direct feeds into my shelter. The flush toilet and other wastewater would flow down into a septic system way below the shelter. Weapons had been prepared and stored. Two separate short wave radio systems were in place. And I had included plenty of material to entertain myself during my stay including books, movies, music, a computer, you name it. I planned to be comfortable AND prepared. After tomorrow's shopping, I would be ready. I had sensors in place outside the bunker to monitor air quality, etc, and even cameras to observe the outside world. The were shielded with the best protection money could by against any pulse meant to fry electronics, and I knew any electronics inside my bunker were safe due to the lead in the walls. So, with everything except the final shopping trip behind me, I was sitting on my front porch enjoying the beautiful day, and watching the world go by. I had an old Glen Miller recording playing in the background, but also a radio turned to a 24-hour news station, ever mindful of the world situation. And knowing what I did of people, I had my 9mm close by. Know one was going to knock me off at the last minute and help themselves to my hard work. As I sat there I saw Jim and Nancy from across the street come out their front door and head my way. I was surprised Jim was not at work. "Hi Bob." "Hi Jim, Nancy. Day off Jim?" "Well, I'm finally beginning to believe what you've been saying, so thought I would take the day off so Nancy and I could talk things over." "Good idea Jim." "Yeah, well, if things are really going to go the way you say, and things are sounding more dire all the time, I don't know what we will really be able to do in a short time." "You are probably right Jim. But the fact that you are thinking about it now is a good step. You should seal up the windows in your basement, lay in provisions, etc. It may not do any good, but at least it will give you a chance." "Bob, I don't suppose there's any chance you would be willing to take my family and I into the shelter with you?" "No Jim, there's not. For a number of reasons. First and foremost among those is that it is not constructed to hold a mob, and if you were to join me, then pretty soon everyone in the neighborhood would be wanting to do the same, and I'm not even going to go there. But beyond that, there is this. I have been preaching to everyone that they needed to be doing to the same thing I was for a year now. Maybe not to the same extent, as I will admit I have gone well beyond what 98% of society would call reasonable, but to make some kind of preparations. But none of you listened. And I'll be damned if I am going to try and save everyone's sorry ass when they could have been saving it themselves. I don't mean to be harsh, but that's just the way it is." "We understand your position Bob. We don't like it, be we understand and respect it." "Thanks." "Do you have any other suggestions on things I should do in the short term?" "Make sure you have loads of bottled water. And you need to come up with some kind of system to care for your refuse, or you'll quickly be overwhelmed in shit. Don't mean to be crass Nancy, but you know it's true." "Dang, I have forgotten my manners though. Can I offer you two an iced tea or something?" "Sure, that would be nice. I don't think a few minutes will make a difference." "Be right back." I went inside and brought out 2 more glasses and a pitcher of fresh brewed sun tea. "Here we go." "So Bob, let me ask you. If things do go the way you predict, and it's looking like they might, what do you think are some of the things you'll miss the most?" "For starters Jim, I'll miss sitting on my porch and drinking tea with nice people like you. Even though we don't see eye to eye on everything, I consider you two good friends, and I am pretty sure I won't have many friends left after everything." "I'll miss everyday conveniences like being able to pop down to the market to pick up a loaf of bread, or to McDonalds for McSushi. Oh, there are lots of things I will miss. But there's things I won't miss either." "Like what Bob?" "I won't miss hearing about some poor guy who couldn't get a job and breaks into his neighbor's house to steal from him and gets off because the man who's house he broke into didn't have the right to break his nose and his arm while defending what he had worked for." "I won't miss the people who think they can tell me what I want to watch in the privacy of my own home, be it a Disney movie or hard core porn. The world would have been much better off if they'd have kept their fucking opinions to themselves." "I won't miss sitting for hours in a traffic jam. And I definitely won't miss the crap that kids today call music!" We all laughed at that. "Well, we better get going. I don't know if it will do any good, but we've got to do what we can to prepare." "Before you go Jim, I am going to make you an offer. Nancy, you need to hear this too, because it affects you as much as it does Jim." They both sat back down, trying to keep the hope off their faces, but not really succeeding. "I want you to know I have given this a lot of thought. And I am going to make the same offer later this evening to Dave and Donna next door. You two have done a marvelous job raising Alicia and Todd. They are both very nice children, very polite, very friendly, and smart as well. And I hate to see them suffer just because you two didn't listen to what I've been telling you." "So here's my offer. If you wish, I will take them into the shelter with me when it's time. It will give them a fighting chance to survive. If they stay with you, it's unlikely that, well, you know. If you want what's best for them, you'll let me try to save them. But I leave the decision completely up to you. Think about it, and let me know later tonight." They both just sat there with stunned looks on their faces. I don't think they ever thought I was going to say something like that. Finally Nancy spoke up. "Bob, that is perhaps the nicest thing anyone has ever offered to do for us. We'll definitely contact you later tonight after we've discussed it." "Nancy, I don't think we even have to discuss it. I don't know that I can save us, no matter what I do, and I want our children to have every chance they can. We've planned for their future in the normal world, now here is our opportunity to give them a chance in god knows what future world. I think we should just accept Bob's offer right now." "You're right Jim. I can't imagine having to watch my children suffer." She got up and came over and through he arms around my neck, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you Bob. Thank you for more than we can say. We gratefully accept your offer." She stood and went to her husband. "Jim, I'll be monitoring all the broadcasts and my sources, and will come get the kids when it's time. Keep them close to home for the next few days, because when it's time I'm going to be moving in a hurry." "Thanks Bob. They won't like it, but my children have just been grounded indefinitely. They will be at home, no matter what. We'll see you later Jim. And thanks, though thanks will never be enough." "You're welcome Jim." Jim had to practically carry his over-wrought wife back across the street. Later that evening, I made a similar offer to Dave and Donna, just as I had said I would. Though they still didn't believe that the holocaust was coming, they agreed that if it did, they wanted their children, Nathan, Jonathon, and Bethany, to have a fighting chance, and so agreed to my offer. The next morning brought no abatement from the world's rapidly deteriorating situation, and I headed out early to the stores. I pulled my 15 foot enclosed utility trailer, and filled it twice before I was all done. Dave's son Nathan and Jim's boy Todd were both allowed to accompany me and help load the incredible amount of food into the bunker. If the 6 of us had to spend an entire month in the shelter, we might be rationing food somewhat towards the end, but anything shorter and we were going to be just fine. With the possible addition of 5 other people, I brought in even more supplies of basic needs, like toilet paper, toothpaste, etc. By the end of the day, the boys and I were exhausted, and we sat and enjoyed a coke together before I sent them back to their folks. I wanted them spending as much time with their parents as they could, as they might never see them alive again after, well, after. But I didn't voice that to them. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX That's the set up. I can promise you lots of sex in future chapters, starting no later than chapter 3. Should I continue it?
