Date: Fri, 2 Apr 1999 17:23:50 EST From: Rob H Subject: Collision Course with the BSB I'd like to say thanks to everyone who have e-mailed me about my first story. Special thanks go to luckylou; author of Boy meets BSB. It's a great story, be sure to check it out. You all make the work seem worthwhile. I'm sorry it has taken this long for the second part, but I've had a few family problems that I had to deal with. It's going to be a long one (no pun intended) with many parts. The story will start slow, but it will be worth the wait. If you have any comments, questions, or ideas, feel free to e-mail me at < trekker391@aol.com > or < bstreetboy4evr@hotmail.com >. Unfortunately, the story is totally fiction. I'm not trying to make any implications as to the sexual orientations of any members of the Backstreet Boys, but if it were true, I wouldn't mind them giving me their numbers. Now for the legal mumbo jumbo. This story is intended to be read by those of legal age. If you aren't, you shouldn't be here...not that that is gonna change anything. After all, your parents should have net nanny or what ever the hell it's called. So enjoy and as a final note, if Brian or Nick are reading, I'm available. Okay, on with the story. Collision Course with the BSB #2 I lost control of all bodily functions. I couldn't control myself. I just stood imitating a deer caught in the headlights off an on-coming truck. The driver was talking to me, yet I didn't hear a word he said. All at once, hundreds of emotions came washing over me. All I was able to do was stare at the object of my affections. In my mind, he was perfect. "Rob, are you okay? Earth to Rob!" My sister finally snapped me out of my trance. I looked around and noticed that Nick was also staring at me. I blushed slightly and returned my attention to the limo driver. He was continuing to apologize. The passenger from the front seat walked over to my sister and I. "Hi, my name is Scott Mason. I am the manager for the Backstreet Boys. Are you guys okay?" "Yeah, we're all right." I answered, "How about you guys? Is everyone okay?" "We're all fine. I'm sorry about the accident. We were trying to get away from a mob of fans. They surrounded our limo and we were trapped. Airport security tried to clear us a path, but they didn't do a good enough job. We got out, but we were forced to go the wrong way. Don't worry about the damage. I'll have everything taken care off." "It's not my truck. It was rented by our parents." "Well, if you'll give me the name and number of the rental agency, I'll call now and see what I can do." Scott looked at the Navigator and cringed. "You guys are lucky you weren't hurt." He looked at the front- end of the limo and looked visibly shaken. "Geez...It's a miracle none of us were hurt either. Navigator 1, Limo 0." I looked back towards the limo and saw the rest of the Backstreet Boys slowly getting out of the limo. I saw Kevin slowly walk over to where we were all gathered. "Scott, is everyone all right?" "Yeah, it seems that we were all VERY lucky. I wish I could say the same thing for the vehicles." Scott laughed a little and then cringed again as he thought about what could have happened. "I'm sorry, I'd like to make a few introductions, but I'm afraid I didn't get your name." "Sorry, in all the commotion, I forgot. My name is Rob Foster and this is my sister Jessica." "Hi, well I'm Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys." He stuck out his hand and offered it to Jes first. He gave a gentle handshake. Then he turned to me and gave me a firm grip. I looked back toward the limo and saw Nick talking to Brian. All during their little conversation, I thought they were staring at me off and on. Kevin saw me looking at the guys and said, "Come on you two, I'll introduce you to the rest of the guys." We walked over towards the limo and I noticed that Nick seemed a little uneasy. Kevin took the lead and introduced Jes and I to the guys. We each shook all of their hands and we started talking for a little bit. I seemed to hit it off with Brian right away. We were into the same things and after 5 minutes of talking, it seemed like we had known each other forever. Jessica seemed to really hit it off with AJ. They were talking up a storm. I could tell that she liked him. Judging from the way that he was looking at her, I think the feeling was mutual. All throughout the conversation, Nick seemed distracted. Scott walked back over to us with a big smile on his face. Well guys, I spoke to the rental car agency and cleared everything up. They have all of your hotel information on record. They will have another rental dropped off at your hotel this afternoon. They'll leave the keys with the front desk under your room number. They will send all of the damages directly to me. And to make up for your troubles, I'd like to offer both of you tickets to tomorrow night's show if you're interested. "Come on Scott," Brian joked, "you can do better than that. We almost killed these two and all you're giving them is tickets to the show. I'm sure we can at least arrange for some backstage passes! I'd like to see a few friendly faces after the concert for a change!" "Yeah Scott, that would be totally cool. I'd really like to see Jessica after..." AJ blushed and went on, "I mean I'd really like to see Rob and Jessica after the show." "Okay, I'm sure that that can be arranged," Scott said. "Rob, if you'll leave me a number where I can reach you at and hotel information, I'll have everything sent over to you." "That would be great!" My sister's excitement got the better of her and she blushed as she watched the guys' reactions. She just looked at AJ, blushed, and stared down at the ground. "That would be terrific. I love your music! I have always wanted to go to one of your concerts." I was also excited at this opportunity. When I said that, Nick finally looked up from the ground and gave a slight smile. "You're a fan?" "Yeah, I've always loved your music." Again Nick gave a soft smile and seemed to liven up after hearing that. The guys' new limo pulled up just as the police arrived on the scene. That's just like the cops...always on time. Scott walked over to them and explained the situation. It only took a few minutes and Scott came back with an irritated look on his face. "I can't believe how much of a pain in the neck they can be. When you need one, they're never around. When you don't need one, you see one every other block!" We all laughed including Nick. He seemed a lot happier for some reason. He still wouldn't talk much, but he was slowly starting to warm up. My sister pulled out her cell phone, the one our mom left for us, and called the directory assistance number. "Hi. I'd like the number for the closest taxi service to Orlando airport please. Thank you." She took out a pen, grabbed my hand, and wrote the number on it. "Thanks Rob." All the guys busted up into fits of laughter. I just looked at my sister and glared at her. I looked around and was shocked to see even Nick almost rolling on the ground. "So that's why she keeps you around." Kevin just couldn't contain his laughter. "Yeah, that's me. Good old Mr. Post-it." "Anyway, what do you guys think you're doing. Why are you calling a cab?" "How else are we supposed to get back to our hotel?" "We were going to give you a lift in our limo. It's the least we could do." "No Mr. Richardson, we wouldn't want to impose on you and the others. It was already nice enough of you to give us the tickets to your show and the backstage "All right, first off, don't EVER call me Mr. Richardson. It makes me feel OLD. "Kevin, you are old!" Nick couldn't help himself. "Oh great, you go from being depressed to being a smart-ass...that's some transformation. Why are you so happy?" Kevin couldn't believe the change in Nick. He looked back towards me, "Well Rob, if we hadn't slammed into your rental, you would be driving IT back." "All right, you've got a point there. But still, we don't want to impose on you. It was nice of you to give us the tickets and the passes." Nick quickly jumped in, "You wouldn't be imposing on us!" I was surprised and from the look on the other guys' faces, so were they. "Yeah Rob, Nick is right." Kevin said, "it's the least we can do for you guys." I could tell from the determined look on their faces that I wasn't going to win this argument. "Okay, okay...you win." Everyone looked at Nick when they heard a gentle `Yess!' He looked up realizing that he had said that out loud and turned at least eight shades of red. We all walked over to the limo and got in. Along the way, the limo stopped in front of a large office building. Scott got out and said that he had to take care of a few things. He said goodbye and we were on our way again. The trip back to the hotel was great. The entire way back, we talked about everything. Their lives, our lives, and anything else we thought of. Every once and a while I would glance out the window and I thought I could see Nick's reflection in the window. It looked like he was staring at me, but I knew it had to be my imagination. Whenever I looked over at him, he seemed to be looking down at the floor of the limo. I was disappointed when we finally arrived at the hotel. Jes and I got out of the limo and we said our good-byes. Kevin told us that they would send the tickets and all of the information to our hotel. We waved goodbye and we walked into the lobby of the hotel. Jes and I walked into the lobby and headed towards the elevator. We rode to the 4th floor in silence just thinking about what had happened. I couldn't believe my luck. Nothing good ever happened to me. I am the kind of person who could be the only one to buy a raffle ticket and I still wouldn't win. Now, I meet my favorite group and my fantasy man all in the same day. Jessica was also feeling it. She had gotten really attracted to AJ and the way he appeared to be acting around her, it seemed to be mutual. We both agreed that after what happened, we needed to take a break. We went to our rooms and we both tried to take a rest. I was awoken out of a very realistic dream by the harsh ringing of the phone. "Hello" I said as I answered the phone. "Good Evening, Mr. Foster, this is the front desk. I'm calling to inform you that you have two items waiting for you at guest relations. If you are free, I can have someone bring them up to you now." "That would be terrific. I'll be waiting." "No problem sir, it will be delivered to your room within the next ten minutes." I got out of bed and walked over to the window. I opened the curtains and looked out onto the one of the most beautiful sites I had ever seen. The sun was slowly setting in the distance with the entire Magic Kingdom being lit up with this warm orange glow. I never expected that something as commercialized as Disney could ever look this amazing. I was startled by the loud knock on the suite door. I walked over and opened the door. Standing there was a really cute guy who was probably working there for the summer. He looked like he was around my age, and damn cute...but not as cute as Nick. Oh well, life goes on. "Mr. Foster, good evening. Here are your two deliveries." He handed me a valet parking receipt and a suitcase. I thanked him and gave him a twenty just in case. He smiled and said thank you. He walked away and I looked at what he gave me. The receipt was most likely for the replacement Navigator. But I had no idea what the suitcase was for. All of a sudden, it hit me and I couldn't stop laughing. My parents had just gotten on their plane a few hours ago and now my dad's missing luggage shows up. Boy is he gonna love this. I called my sister's room to see if she was up. She said she had just gotten up and that she would be over in a few minutes. I heard a knock on the door so I walked over to let Jes in. She came in, saw the suitcase, and laughed. "Dad's?" "Yep, talk about ironic." I couldn't resist cracking a smile. "I guess we should call them to make sure they got in and everything is alright." I was scared to call my parents. I wasn't sure what to tell them. Do I tell them about the accident? What would they say? "Jes, do you think we should tell them about the accident?" "I don't want to, but I know that they will eventually find out. Parents always end up finding out about things like this." She gave me a serious look and said, "Do you want me to call them or can you handle it?" "Thanks for the offer, but I have to do this." She laughed and said, "I wasn't really offering, I was just asking if you could handle it." "You are really helping me here." I wasn't sure how to handle this so I decided on the direct approach. I picked up the phone and dialed my number. It rang four times and then the machine picked up. "Thank God, it's the machine. Maybe this will be okay." Jes looked at me again and laughed. "Hi mom, dad, its Rob. I'm just calling..." "Rob, it's me, we just walked in the door." Damn, I thought I was in the clear. "Hi mom, how was the trip?" I had to extend my life by as long as I could. "Pretty good, but it took forever to get home from the airport." "Mom, I've got something that I have to tell you and dad." "What happened? Are you guys okay? How's Jessica? Tell me what happened!" "Calm down mom," I had to get her to relax, "we are fine. There was a small problem with the Navigator after we dropped you and dad at the airport." "Define SMALL PROBLEM!" "Well, you know how I've talked a lot about the Backstreet Boys?" "Yeah, the guys from the poster in your room. Go on." She sounded as if she wasn't sure what to expect next. "Well, their limo kind of smashed into the Navigator." I had to act fast. This could rapidly spiral out of control. "Now before you jump to conclusions, hear me out. It was not my faul..." "JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS! YOU HIT THE BACKSTREET BOYS' LIMO! HOW CAN YOU ASK ME NOT TO JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!" Okay, maybe not. I guess I couldn't control the situation. "MOM, HEAR ME OUT! It wasn't my fault. They were trying to get away from fans and they were forced the wrong way down a one way street. NO ONE WAS HURT. They took care of everything." "What do you mean `They took care of everything?' " She didn't seem to be following me. "They handled everything with the rental car agency. They replaced the Navigator that was totaled and..." "Totaled, you totaled a Navigator?" Whoops.wrong choice of words. My mother went postal again. She obviously wasn't handling this as well as I had hoped she would. "Well, no mom, it wasn't totaled. It was just hit fairly hard. They're paying for the damages and they arranged for a replacement rental. They took care of EVERYTHING with the rental agency. They also gave us tickets and backstage passes to tomorrow nights concert." "Well, okay, as long as no one was hurt. I'm sorry for screaming but I worry about you guys. You're sure you're both okay?" "Yes Mom, we are both fine. Where is dad? I thought he would have jumped on the line with you and you both could have yelled in stereo." I know, I was pushing my luck, but oh well. I like to live on the edge. "Very funny mister!" She seemed to be cooling off somewhat. "He ran in to meet with Mr. Jenkins. He wanted to get a jump on solving the problem. Can I talk to your sister? I want to ask her a few questions." "Sure mom, hold on. Do me a favor; please don't tell dad." It took a lot of convincing, but I got her to agree that she wouldn't tell my father. I looked at Jes with pity and mouthed the words `you're next'. She took the phone and carefully put it up to her ear. In her best `kiss ass' voice, she said "Hi mom. How was your trip?" I left her alone to deal with `the parental unit'. I decided it was time for me to go downstairs and look at the replacement Navigator. I got in the elevator and headed down to the lobby. I walked outside to the valet stand and gave him my valet receipt. He ran off to go get my car. I stood there waiting for a few minutes. There were a few people ahead of me in the line. First they brought up someone's Toyota Camry. Then they drove up in someone's Chevy Lumina. Next came this really gorgeous red Mercedes SL600 convertible. I really loved that car. It was amazing. The attendant got out of the car and handed me the keys. I looked at him with a look of confusion. "Is there a problem sir?" "This isn't my car. It was supposed to be a Lincoln Navigator." He looked at my claim stub and checked the tag attached to the keys. "I'm sorry sir, but this is the correct vehicle. Both of the tickets match. If there is a problem, I can get my supervisor." "No, there is no problem. I guess it was my mistake. There must have been some kind of misunderstanding. Someone had this vehicle dropped off for me. Well, thank you." I handed him a twenty and got in the car. On the passenger seat was a large envelope with my name written on it. I opened it up and looked at the contents. Inside, were the tickets and passes to tomorrow nights concert, a hand written note, and the rental agreement for the car. I couldn't believe that they rented me a SL600. I pulled out the note and read it. Rob, Here are the tickets and passes for tomorrows show. It starts at 8PM. The guys and I were wondering if you and your sister would like to be our guests for diner before the show and then you could hang around and watch the sound check. We would really like to spend some time with "normal" fans. If you want to take us up on our offer, you can call Scott's office. The number is on the rental agreement for the Mercedes. If you accept, we will send a limo around to pick you and Jes up at around 4PM. Oh, about the rental. Sorry, they didn't have any Navigators left so we arranged for this one. If you don't like it, call Scott and he'll take care of it. See you later, Kevin I couldn't believe my recent change of fortune. First, I'm involved in a car accident with THE BACKSTREET BOYS. Then, I get to meet him...NICK CARTER. Next, we are invited to the concert and are given backstage passes. At this point life is just perfect. Then it gets even better. We are given a Mercedes convertible to replace the Navigator. And if that wasn't good enough, we were invited to diner with the guys as their "guests". If I am dreaming, I don't ever want to wake up! I locked the car and walked into the hotel lobby. I called my room using a hotel courtesy phone. There was no answer. I tried my sister's room next. I dialed the number but all it did was ring. "HOLY SHIT!" While I wasn't paying attention, Jessica had quietly walked behind me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" She looked at me with an innocent face. "Do what dear brother?" "What ever. It's 8:30PM and we haven't eaten diner yet. I wanna take the new car out for a spin. " "Sure, why not. Where do you want to go?" I gave it a lot of thought. "How about the Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood?" "I'm sick and tired of the Hard Rock. Let's go the Planet Hollywood." We walked outside and my sister looked around for the Navigator. "Rob, where's the Navigator?" "What Navigator? Who said it was a Navigator?" I gave her a sly smile and took out the keys for the Benz. I hit the unlock button on the keyless entry and the alarm chirped twice. "NO WAY! GIVE ME THE KEYS! I'M DRIVING!" "No way. This replaced my Navigator; therefore this is my car. Get in the passenger seat." Yeah right, she actually thought I would let her drive my dream car. She gave me the infamous puppy dog look. It meant absolutely nothing to me. I just remember back to all of the times when she made my life miserable. She pouted and got into the car. I got in, started it up, and lowered the top. I put the car and gear and took off. Took off was a little bit of an understatement. I didn't realize how much power the V-12 had. I must have left tire marks all the way out of the parking lot. "OH MY GOD! THIS CAR IS AMAZING!" I couldn't believe how fast it was. When you are used to driving a truck that weighs over 5,000 lbs. and hits 60mph in over ten seconds, a V-12 sports car is a little bit of a shock to the system. It's a good thing I didn't see any cops otherwise I would have been in just a little bit of trouble. More like go directly to jail, do not pass go. We drove down to Pleasure Island and put the Benz into valet parking. The guy looked at the car with sheer lust in his eyes. I suddenly got very worried, but then I remembered that it was a rental so what the hell. We walked over to Planet Hollywood hoping there wouldn't be too much of a wait. We lucked out and we were told that it would only be a few minutes. The hostess handed me one of those beeper things that vibrates when your table is ready and we walked around a little to look at a few of the movie props. It took a few minutes, but the beeper finally went off and we were shown to our table. Our waiter came over to us and took our drink order. We sat around for a few minutes looking at the different items from all of the movies. All of a sudden, we heard screaming and shouting out by the front of the restaurant. It sounded like a riot had broken out in the street. My sister and I were talking to each other trying to guess what was going on outside. "It would be nice if it was Bruce Willis or Demi Moore. I would love to be able to get one of their autographs." I had always loved collecting celebrity autographs. "I wouldn't mind seeing Sylvester Stall..." Jes just stopped mid-sentence. "Jes, are you okay?" I waved my hand in front of her unblinking eyes. I turned around to see what had gotten her attention. I turned around just in time to be staring directly at Nick who could not have been more than 5 feet away from me. God, I couldn't move. I knew I was staring, but I couldn't help it. I was in awe. He was amazing. Jes kicked me under the table. "Ouch, what was that for?" "Oh, I'm sorry Rob, I didn't know that was your foot." I glared at her then turned back towards the guys. I looked quickly at Nick and he quickly looked down to the ground. I started to wonder, was he looking at me also? No, he couldn't have been. "Hi Jessica, hi Rob. How's the new rental?" Kevin asked me with a smile on his face. "It's great. Thanks a lot Kevin. But why did you guys get a Benz, that must have cost a fortune." I mean, I really loved it, but I felt bad accepting it. "It was actually Nicks idea." I looked over at Nick and again it looked like he had been watching me. Rob, take it easy...you're starting to lose it. He was staring down at the ground and blushing. I thought to myself, this is a good sign. "Thanks Nick, that was really thoughtful of you, but the car is too expensive." He looked up at me quickly and gave me an amazing smile. "You're welcome. It was the least we could do after destroying your ride." "So guys," Kevin asked, "would you care to join us for diner? It would be nice to talk to some normal people for once." I looked at Jes who couldn't keep her enthusiasm to a minimum. She looked like she was about to burst. "Sure Kevin," I replied, "that would be great. Are you sure though, we don't want to get in the way of your plans or anything." "No problem you guys, I insist on it." Kevin looked like he meant business. Being the oldest probably meant that whatever he says goes. "Well, okay...if you put it that way. I guess we'll join you guys." Kevin walked over to the hostess and told her that there were two more people joining their table. The hostess walked over to the table and added two chairs. We were sat at large round table. I sat with Brian on my left and Jessica on my right side. AJ sat on Jessica's right side. AJ and Jes talked the entire time. They really seemed to be hitting it off rather nicely. I talked on and off with the rest of the guys. Nick seemed awfully quiet so I asked him if there was anything wrong. He just shrugged and said that he had been depressed for a while about losing a close friend of his. I wanted to ask him what he meant, but he really didn't seem to want to talk about it. The waiter came over and took our drink and diner orders. Our food arrived about twenty minutes later and we all dove in. AJ didn't like what he ordered so he shared with Jes. I think she finally found someone who made her complete. They had the same interests and they really got along great. They were completing each other's sentences. We all noticed how their eyes never left each other during diner. We had been talking for quite a while when the waiter told us that they were sorry but they were preparing to close for the evening. We all totally lost track of time. It seemed like we had only been there for an hour but we really had been there for over 5 hours. He asked us if there was anything else that we wanted for the evening and we all said no. He placed the check down on the table. Just as Kevin was about to reach for the check, I grabbed it. "Oh no you don't. You are our guests this evening. I'll take that check." Kevin seemed serious. But then again so was I. "Oh no you won't! We were here before you were, so technically, you are our guests. Second, you guys are the ones who rented us the Benz. And finally, I can be just as stubborn as you can be." I could tell that Kevin was shocked to meet someone who was just as stubborn as he was. "Wow, it's a good thing these guys aren't able to do that. Otherwise, I'd be in a lot of trouble." Howie laughed. "I don't know Kevin...I think you've finally met your match." "You haven't seen anything. You should see the way our parents are. Kevin, you'd be cowering in a corner." My sister thought she was being funny. "You know what they say Jes, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." "What are you trying to say Rob?" "Oh, I don't know Jes...maybe that you are just as stubborn as I am. I think it runs in the family. Don't worry guys, I give lessons." "Oh great," Kevin laughed, "this should make my life REALLY interesting." I paid the check and we all got up and walked outside. Pleasure Island was just closing so there were people everywhere. The guys lucked out. Due to the crowds, no one could tell who they were. We walked them back to their limo and said our good-byes. "So, are you still interested in going out with us before the show tomorrow?" I laughed at Kevin and said, "Today." "Oh, whoops, today. Oh shit, you're right. Guys, we've got to get a move on. We are supposed to be in the studio tomorrow...today." "Yeah Kevin," I answered his question, "we'd love to meet up with you before the show." "All right, I'll have the limo pick you both up at 4PM, okay?" "I can't wait to see your show, " my sister shot out looking straight into AJ's eyes. "Yeah, me either!" I glanced over towards Nick who immediately turned his head from me down to the floor. I FINALLY CAUGHT HIM! HE HAD BEEN STARING AT ME! But why? He couldn't like me, could he? My head started to spin and I felt my knees go a little weak. I didn't think I could stand on my own. Could he feel the same way that I do? TO BE CONTINUED. Sorry, but the story should start to slowly get more interesting as Nick and Rob.wait a minute. Whoops! I almost gave something away. I couldn't do that. I hope you guys liked this installment. And please send me e- mail, I love hearing the phrase...you've got mail. Thanks for reading.
