He made a move towards Nick when Kevin stopped him. The younger man sighed and pulled back his hand. "Well is he?" he asked. "He should be fine." Howie smiled gently. Nick sat up. He looked at the writer dreamily with a fazed smile playing on his lips. "Robin...you're Bobby Pin..." His eyes closed as he passed out again. "Uhm..." said Robin. "I'm alright." Nick perked again. He gingerly and slowly stood up. "What's wrong, Nick? Trying to imitate Kevin?" asked AJ. Nick smiled faintly while Robin looked at another part of the room. "So, Bobby, you'll be hanging with us until you just can't take anymore...should I schedule that flight for two weeks or 3?" "AJ!" scolded Kevin. "What? That was the record for the LAST writer." AJ defended. "So, you were Kev's old lover, huh? He really DID have something up his ass, well other than that huge stick." "Um...we didn't get that far." Robin blushed. "Bobby has this thing about waiting for marriage." Kevin rolled his eyes. "And that's the exact reason why we broke up." Robin glared at the older man. "He moved too fast--" "And he moved too slow." He sighed. "I'm here to write a book on you. I don't expect anything from you at all." He turned to AJ. "3 weeks, huh? We'll see." "Hey, where's Bobby staying?" asked Brian. "My room!" cried out Nick. "You'll love it, Bobby! There's a whole bunch of stuff in there." "I think it's best if he stays with me and Kristen." Kevin snapped. "Sure, ok. You have Kristen and one more person. Howie has his model girlfriend. Brian has Leighanne. AJ has his VirtualGirlfriend. I finally have a friend and you take it away." Nick said in a low voice. "Maybe I could chat with him a little bit?" asked Robin. "I'd like to find out more about Nick Carter the Hartthrob." "Alright!" Nick pulled Robin into his room and shut the door. "Okay, who are you?" he asked. "I'm Robin Tran." Robin replied. "AKA Bobby Pin and nearly Robin Richardson." "What are you? When I woke up at your house, I saw notes. They were for Max. You were the genius that wrote all of our songs, weren't you?" he asked. "So what if I am? No one will care." Robin scoffed. "I'm here to write a book about your group. I don't think it works the other way around." "How can you be so kind one minute and so...this the next?" "It's just how I am, I guess." "Robin--" Nick touched Robin's shoulder. "I was always alone. Two sides, really. One side was a mature grown up and the other a kid. Did you know I almost got committed because of that?" Nick stared. "Yeah! I did! No one understood me. It was like I have two people living inside. I lose so many friends like that." He sighed and looked out the window. "Tell AJ to plan those tickets for 2 weeks. I need a break." Nick stared at him hard. "You are not leaving in two weeks. You are not as bad as you think you are. Listen to me, Robin, you are a beautiful person. I know. You rescued me from that nightmare last night!" he reasoned. Robin didn't say a word as he took out his anti-depressants. "Give me those!" Nick grabbed the bottle and threw it out the window. "No anti-depressants." He grabbed the pack from Robin's pocket. "No smoking, no binging, no pricking, no cutting, no sleeping pills, and absolutely NO alcohol for you since you're most likely to drink yourself stupid." "How would you know all that if you only known me for a few hours?" he whispered. "I saw the smoke packs around your house. I saw the bloody blade in your bathroom. I saw the bottles of pills you don't need. I saw the dairy entry you made about everyone leaving you." Nick replied. "I want to help you like you helped me. A life for a life." "You don't know me. No one does." "Then tell me something about you." Nick sighed. "I don't even know myself, Nick...I have an identity crisis." Robin confessed. "I see a psychiatrist whenever I can. But it still doesn't help that much. I always feel like people have abandoned me." Nick walked over and lifted up Robin's chin. "Listen to me. I will never EVER abandon you. I'll help you in any way I can." Robin covered Nick's hand with his own. "Thank you, Nick." End chapter 3 of Concertina. E-mail is always welcome: Mistress_N9@juno.com
