Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2000 23:41:06 CEST From: Chris Hanson Subject: "Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall" Part 6 Disclaimer: This story is a product of my imagination. I am in no way implying that Nick Carter is gay. Lars and the rest of the characters in this story is truely a product of my imagination. All resemblance to any real life persons is purely a coincidence. This story contains, or will perhaps some day, contain sexual relations by adult males. If you are not into that or it is illegal in your state/country, please leave now. Or else, sit back and enjoy. I am not a native English speaker. Thus there might be some spelling and grammar mistakes. I hereby apologise for those. Also I am not into much American slang, so the language might seem a bit formal. Sorry for that. This is also my first attempt to write such a story. Thanks to those who has e-mailed me with comments and suggestions! They have been really helpful in the process of writing this part. Scott, thanks! Now on with the story "Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall" by Chris Part 6 - "Further to fly..." The wind was gently blowing through their hair. The sun was casting its last rays of light upon the lovers sitting in the moist sand. It was a cool summer evening, the gulls were flying high above. They tightened their embrace. None of them said a word. There was no need for it. They were so much in love. One could see it on them. The look upon their faces, the way they walked beside each other, the way their hands intertwined, the way their eyes sparkled when they looked at each other, there were so much love. The sun was only a pink shade on the dark sky now. Lars rose to his feet and pulled his boyfriend up by the hand so that he too was standing. They walked on the water's edge feeling the cool water on their feet. "I love you," Lars whispered as their lips met in a hot passionate kiss. "I thought I could never feel this way again," he said as his thoughts drifted into the past. It hadn't been easy. Not for any of them. Nick hadn't been able to perform for several months. But now he was doing okay. It seemed as he and Jonathan were happy together, according to Brian anyway. Lars hadn't talked to Nick since they agreed that they never could be together, a mutual agreement that the best thing for them to do was to go separate ways. It had been rocky a year. But now, Lars felt happy for the first time as he walked the beach with Chris, whom he loved deeply. Everything seemed so right. Yet he felt that something was missing. He couldn't quite figure out what, but something was not there. He looked in awe at the tall and dark man walking beside him. He could feel nothing but care and admiration for Chris. They had been together for four months, but Lars was not yet quite sure how he felt. True, he definitely had feelings for him, but was it true love? He thought so, but he was far from sure. They turned and headed towards their house which they had shared the last couple of months. As they approached their beach house Lars could see the shade of a person sitting on the porch. "I think there is someone on the porch," Chris said to indicate that he too was aware of the presence of a stranger. As they reached their house Lars could clearly see who it was. "What are you doing here, Brian?" he asked. "Can I talk to you for a minute," Brian answered. "Privately?" "I go in and fix us something to eat, Lars. Are you staying for dinner...eh... Brian?" "No, thanks," Brian said wearily. Chris went inside the house. Lars pulled out a chair for Brian and one for himself. Lars looked at Brian and waited for the singer to start talking. It had gotten quite dark now, but Lars could see Brian's sparkeling eyes and beautiful face quite clearly. He was truly a very handsome man. The curly hair fitted so well in with the shape of his head. "Nick loves you, Lars," Brian begun. "He cannot live without you. He is miserable Lars and..." "Stop it, Brian. We have been through this before," Lars interupted. "It will never happen. I thought he was doing okay with Jonathan and everything," Lars continued. "It has never been a Jonathan," Brian said lowly. "Nick wanted me to tell you that so you were going to think he was doing okay. Lars, he needs you." "I said no, Brian. I can't. I love Chris. I am over Nick, and he needs to get over me." Lars had tears in his eyes now. "I think you should go, Brian. Tell Nick that I am sorry. I can't leave Chris, and I don't want to either." Brian rose to his feet and started to walk away. He turned around and said, "This is going to kill him, Lars!" With those words Brian walked off. Lars stood and watched the ocean. He loved the roaring and the smell of it. "I am sorry, Nick," he whispered as he turned around and walked inside. ------------------------------------ "So, what was it that was so important?" Lars said eagerly as he looked into the beautiful brown eyes of his boyfriend. The sun was casting its last rays of light onto the deck of the restaurant boat in which they were sitting. The calm water was reflecting the light from the sun. Alongside the dock people were walking, many were holding hands. It was a very romantic atmosphere. "I know we have only been going out for four months, but I feel that I want to take our relationship one step further," Chris started. "I love you Lars, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Chris pulled out a small, black box from his pocket. He opened it, and in it lay a beautiful and shining, yet discrete, golden ring. "Lars, will you marry me?" Lars did not say anything. He didn't expect this. He had not seen it coming, and he was not prepared for it. Everything was confusing and diffused. He rose to his feet and ran out of the restaurant. He ran down the pier. He ran until there were no more dock left, and there was nothing before him but the crystal clear water. He sat down wearily. His head was spinning. Everything was in a fog. He cried. He was sobbing like a child. He loved Chris, or he thought he did. They had never discussed marriage, nor thought Lars that they would for a long time. 'Oh God. Do I love him?' Lars thought to himself. He needed not ask, he knew the answer. He realised it now. It suddenly became clear to him. It had been there all along. "Flowers never bend with the rainfall," he whispered to himself as a soft smile came across his face. He rose to his feet and walked along the beautiful, now black water. He let the vague smell of sea enter through his nostrils. It was there all along. The answers and solutions to everything he had been questioning since Brian's visit. He had felt as if he was falling for too long, now he was on the way back on top again. ------------------------------------ Their lips met in a hot and passionate kiss. Nick was sitting in the corner of his and Brian's hotel suite and watching his friend and LeAnn making out. He felt sad. He had really thought it was going to happen when Lars had called him after "I need you" on the radio. He had nearly broken down when Lars had rejected him once more. Nick was clampering on his guitar. Mostly sad accords where slipping through his fingers. Tears were streaming down his cheeks. He looked like a mess. And he felt like it too. Nick had problems. He couldn't sleep and he had severe nerve problems. His weary fingers were following the strings of the guitar. His soft voice was bringing words to the sad, but yet beautiful music. There may come a time When you'll be tired As tired as a dream that wants to die And further to fly Further to fly Further to fly Further to fly Maybe you will find a love That you discover accidentally Who falls against you gently As a pickpocket Brushes your thigh Further to fly Effortless music from the Cameroons The spinning darkness of her hair A conversation in a crowded room going nowhere The open palm of desire Wants everything It wants everything It wants everything Sometimes I'll be walking down The street and I'll be thinking Am I crazy Or is this some morbid little lie Further to fly Further to fly Further to fly A recent loss of memory A shadow in the family The baby waves bye-bye I'm trying, I'm flying There may come a time When I will lose you Lose you as I lose my light Days falling backward into velvet night The open palm of desire Wants everything It wants everything It wants soil as soft as summer And the strength to push like spring A broken laugh a broken fever Take it up with the great deceiver Who looks you in the eye And says baby don't cry Further to fly There may come a time When I will lose you Lose you as I lose my sight Days falling backward into velvet night The open palm of desire The rose of Jericho Soil as soft as summer The strength to let you go "Nick," Brian put his arm around his blonde friend. "You can't go on like this. It is going to kill you." Brian was worried. "I love him, Bri. I don't think I can live without him," Nick was crying now. He was drained. "I know you do. But it is never going to happen. You need to realise this now, Nick. You must," Brian said comfortingly. ------------------------------------ Lars was sitting in the moist sand on the beach. It was a rather cool evening. The ocean was a bit uneasy, and the sound of it made him even more nervous. The lovely smell of sea and sand was tickeling his nostrils, making him shiver. The cool breeze that came in from east was ruffling his hear. He could hear footsteps from behind. He didn't need to turn around. He knew who it was. Chris sat down silently beside his boyfriend. He didn't say anything. He just awaited Lars explanation. They sat together in silence. Only the sounds from the ocean and the wind could be heard. The wind was whispering in their ears. It was as if it was trying to tell them something. "Chris, we need to talk..." Lars begun. TO BE CONTINUED So that was part 6 of my story. I hope you all liked it. Feedback is WANTED and you can e-mail your comments, suggestions and questions to chris_h81no@hotmail.com. I always reply to those who e-mail me. The next part, part 7, might be the last part of "Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall". I do not feel that I have the inspiration to continue the plot of this story. I haven't taken the final decision yet, so I will take some time to think it through. I am currently on the planning stage of a new story which may appear on Nifty this spring/summer. I will not reveal anything about this story. You will just have to watch out for it. I have already decided on how "Flowers..." is going to end. The only thing I have left is for how long or how I am going to come to that end. I guess time will tell... "Further to fly" is from the Paul Simon album "The Rhythm Of The Saints" (c)1989
