Foolish Beat

Chapter -- 51

Monday Afternoon -- Memphis, TN -- Baptist Medical -- Lance's Room

"Hello son," Diane says, smoothing Lance's hair back as he looks around the room quickly.

"Where am I?" Lance asks, trying to sit up in bed, still looking around.

"No son, don't try to get up. Stay still," Diane tells him, standing up. "Do you want something to drink? Something to eat darlin?"

"Where am I Damnit! Why are you here mom?" Lance asks, moving around in the bed, making Diane get upset a bit. "Tell me where am I and now!"

"Lance calm down. You're at Baptist Medical Center son. You were brought in for a strange drug-related overdose. The guys believe that Lou forcefully drugged you. Did he drug you or did you do this to yourself?" Diane asks, leaning over the bed, getting in Lance's face, seriously wanting to know what was really going on.

"Mom I...I...just leave me the fuck alone," Lance replies, not meeting her gaze.

"I'm not leaving this room until you tell me what's going on. Did you start taking drugs or what? I want to know Lance. What's going on? Why are you here like this?" Diane asks, sitting back down next to the bed. "Did this happen because of your relationship with Josh?"

"Mom I don't feel like talking about anything right now. Could you just go for coffee or something?" Lance asks, still not meeting her gaze.

"Boy don't you aggravate me right now! Do you know how scared I got when Johnny and Sean called me and told me you were here? I'm in no mood for you to be beating around the bush. Just answer me and now!" Diane harshly says, standing up again, not taking her eyes off of Lance.

"Mom I...fine then. Yes I took the damn drugs. Lou didn't force the drugs on me, I willingly took them from him," Lance answers her finally.

"Why son? Why?" Diane asks, reaching for Lance's hand and he quickly snatches away from her.

"You want to know why? Why? My screwed up fucking life is why mom!" Lance screams as Diane smacks him across the face, causing him to gasp and turn over in the bed and start crying.

"You've been with these guys too long James Lance Bass. If you think you can say what you want and not pay the consequences, you're surely mistaken. I will chalk this little matter up to the drug residue still in your system," Diane says, grabbing her jacket and purse. "I think I will go for a cup of coffee now. You need to think about what you've said Lance. When I come back, we will discuss this and I want the truth and nothing but."

Back at the Starlight Hotel -- Brian and Chris' Room

Brian's POV

This has been one of those days already and it's not even dark yet. I know Sean is feeling the pressure of this tour weighing him down. Hell, I'm not him and I can even feel the pressure. First Lance and now Nick. What else is going to happen on this tour?

As for the new arrival, I know the others are pissed about what Johnny did, hell I was pissed too, but now that I know that JT isn't harmful, I'm just glad he didn't take too much offense and hold a grudge against us for the way we treated him. I don't know what got into me. I normally don't judge people the way I judged him. I just hope Kevin, Joey and the other few that hasn't warmed up to him, lay off of him before more drama is created. We just don't need any more of that on our hands right now. I'm starting to think we're a trouble magnet or something.

"Hi baby, what are you think about?" My loving husband asks, walking over to me and sitting down on the edge of the sofa.

"Just going through the last few days in my head is all," I tell him as he kisses me on the cheek. "Is this tour going to get any worse?"

"All we can do is pray that it doesn't baby," he says, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me down into his lap as we settle into a comfortable position. "I ordered us some lunch baby, it should be here in a few minutes."

"Oh cool. What did you order baby?" I ask him, kissing him on the mouth as he licks my lips and smiles.

"Well lets see, for me I ordered the spare ribs, potato salad, green beans and some rolls. For you, I ordered the blackened chicken, steamed veggies, those cheesy potatoes you like and some rolls. I also requested a big pitcher of sweet tea," he explains, as I look at him wide-eyed as he smiled at me. "What? I'm hungry baby and I know you are too."

"Yeah I am hungry baby. Do you think we're going to be able to finish all of that stuff off?" I ask him as he caresses my cheek.

"I don't know about you, but I know I will. I'm going to finish mine," he says, smirking at me. "You know I needs lots of fuel to love you baby."

"Oh so that's what you have in mind. You're planning to energize so we can have an all out sexual free for all by ourselves," I say, poking him in his side playfully. "What if I don't want to fool around tonight? Maybe I'm too tired to get into that with you."

"I'm tired too baby. I was only teasing you," he says, leaning in and kissing me.

"I know that baby. I had to get you going a bit. You never know what I might want to do later on tonight," I tell him just as someone knocked on the door.

"I bet that's our food baby," he says, kissing me quickly and hopping up to answer the door. "Look what we have here..."

"Sean what're you and Joe doing here?" I ask as the two of them walk into the room with sad expressions on their faces. "Is something wrong? Why are you crying Sean?"

"He's a little bit upset about us not getting married," Joey says as Chris shuts the door in a hurry.

"What? Why aren't you two getting married?" I ask them.

"There's just too much crap going on for us to get married right now," Sean says, sniffling as he looked up at the two of us. "We can't leave here to get married like we planned. If we leave, something new will happen, I just know it."

"Sean buddy calm down," I tell him, rubbing his back as he continued to cry, leading him to the couch as he and Joey sat down. "I know things are a little rough right now, but don't let that ruin your marriage plans. Don't you two wait around; I say go right ahead with your plans. We're going to be here for the next few days. You two go hop a plane right now and go get hitched."

"Brian we can't do that. What about Lance and Nick?" He asks, more tears falling from his eyes now.

"What about them?" I ask him, knowing that things would be okay for our friends. "Don't worry about them Sean. Diane is here for Lance and we're all here for Nick. You two go get married like you originally planned. We don't need you two grown men crying around here like babies."

"But..." Sean starts, but I interrupt him.

"No buts about it Sean. You two go get married and now," I tell him as someone knocked at the door again. "I guess that's our dinner now."

"I hope it is baby, if not I might fall over and die of starvation," Chris says, opening the door as a room service agent wheeled a cart into the room, the scent of the cart filling our nostrils. "Oh God yes, it's on now."

"You two heard what I said. It's a little bit after four right now. Go hop a plane and go take care of the business at hand before things with us get to moving into full speed again," I tell the two of them as the room service guy looked at me strangely.

"Okay Brian," Sean says, smiling at me. "We'll take care of this, but if anything happens while we're gong, I will annoy you with my whining."

"Okay deal," I tell him as he and Joey got up, hugged the two of us and walked out of the room. "Have a safe trip."

"We will," Joey says, smiling at me as it seemed his whole outlook on things changed.

"Food, let's eat," I say, walking over to Chris and picking up my dinner plate.

Indianapolis, IN -- Omni Star Hotel -- Later Monday Evening

"Good evening sirs, may I help you?" The desk attendant asks as JT and Nick walked over to the counter.

"Yes you surely can miss. I'm JT Poole and you should have a reservation for me," JT says, pulling out his Palm Pilot and wallet.

"Yes we do Mr. Poole. Here is your keycard sir and here is a package that was delivered for you a few hours ago," the desk attendant says, handing JT the keycard and the package.

"Thank you ma'am," JT says, accepting the item and turning around to get Nick's attention. "Come on Nick, let's go get settled in and get to work."

"JT come on, we just got into town. I don't want to help you work right now. I want to do other things," Nick says, turning to look at JT as the two of them stepped into the elevator with the hotel bellboy with their bags.

"What do you have in mind Nick?" JT asked, turning to look at Nick as he starts blushing.

"JT you know I can't say that right..." Nick says as JT looks at the bellboy then moves over to Nick and kisses him passionately. "JT what are you..."

"I'm kissing you is what I'm doing. I thought you knew what a kiss was," JT says, leaning up against Nick and kissing him again as the elevator dinged to signal their arrival on their floor. "We're here baby."

"Right this way gentlemen," the bellboy says, picking up JT and Nick's bags and walking down the hall to their room.

"Oh this is going to be so much fun," JT says, wrapping his arm around Nick as the two of them walked down the hall behind the bellboy.
