If you are not at least 18 years old, or are offended by homosexual material, then, this story is NOT for you. Kevin and Joey Chapter 7 Kevin stood in the hallway, his head leaning back against the wall, overcome with the events that he had just witnessed. How could he tell Joey what had happened? Although, Kevin was pretty sure that he wouldn't be able to hide the fact that something was definitely wrong. As he did his best to gather his thoughts and emotions, he made his way back to Joey's room in hopes that he could avoid talking with him about the situation. It wasn't that he was trying to keep things from Joey, but he felt it best to let him find out on his own. Kevin took one last deep breath, and put on his best stage face, preparing to perform at his best. He never dreamed that he would be doing this for Joey's sake, but he had to give it his best shot. "Joey? I'm back," Kevin said, getting no response. "Joey?" Kevin walked into the room to find his angel fast asleep on the bed. Not willing to disturb his love, he quietly turned off the lights, undressed and slid into bed next to him. He moved close, wrapping his arm around Joey's waist, and pulling him into a spoon position. For the first time since they had met, Kevin was actually glad that Joey had gone to sleep, without him. It would give him a little advantage, not to mention a head start on harnessing his emotions. Ever so gently, Kevin kissed Joey on the back of the head. "I love you, Joey." Kevin whispered, being answered with only the soft moan of his lover, as he settled in for the night. Morning came way too soon, finding Kevin in the arms of an already awake, Joey Fatone. Joey lay there just staring into the strong face that he had come to know and love. He thought to himself how incredibly handsome Kevin looked lying there next to him. He should have been so peaceful, yet Joey could have sworn that there was an almost drained look about him. Suddenly, he felt him begin the early stages of waking. He just held him there tracing the outline of his face with his finger. "Goodmorning," Joey said, as he stared into those beautiful green eyes, that still made his heart skip a beat every time he saw them. "Morning, Sweetie," Kevin answered, as he gave Joey his best smile. "Are you okay, Kev?" Joey asked, filling him with fear. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little more tired than I thought, I guess." Kevin said, trying to cover as best he could. "Are you sure?" Joey asked, trying to get as much info as he could. "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry." Kevin said, placing his hand on Joey's face. "Okay," Joey said, reluctant to believe Kevin's response. "I was just about to go take a shower. Would you like to join me?" "That sounds tempting, Sweetie, but I think I'll just stay here and catch a few more minutes of sleep, if you don't mind?" Kevin said, hoping Joey wouldn't press him. "Okay, honey, if you're sure?" Joey said, as he stood and started for the bathroom. "What? I don't get a kiss?" Kevin asked, causing Joey to smile, as he returned and kissed him. "I'll be right back." Joey said, heading once again for the bathroom. Kevin lay there thinking of the events of the night before. What in the world was he gonna do now? He knew that he would be in contact with JC from time to time and that He and Joey would be together around JC. Things that seemed so perfect had suddenly gone so wrong. Kevin wondered if JC had woken up yet, and if he was alright. That was the thing about Kevin. He could be in direct competition with someone and still find a place in his heart for them. I guess, in this case, it was just the fact that he knew, JC was a good guy. He kept to himself a lot, but Kevin knew that his feelings and emotions ran very deep. I think that's why JC's heart has always been in the writing and creating process of the songs. He puts himself into everything he writes, holding nothing back. Kevin heard the water start in the shower, and decided that he needed to give JC a call to make sure that he was okay. He picked up the phone and dialed JC's room number. "Hello," JC said, in a sleepy voice. "Josh, it's Kevin." He said, his emotions running high. "Oh, hey, Kev. I guess, you hate me now, don't you?" JC asked, his voice relaying his fear. "No, I don't hate you. It's not like you did this just to hurt me or anything." Kevin said, trying to ease JC's mind. "Kev, I'm really sorry." JC said, hoping for Kevin's forgiveness. "Don't be silly, Josh. There's nothing for you to be sorry about. You can't help how you feel about him." Kevin said, trying to get through to him. "Did you tell him?" JC asked, fearing the answer. "No, I didn't. Personally, I think he should hear it from you." Kevin answered, the words leaving a bad taste in his mouth. "Oh God, Kev. He doesn't even know I'm gay." JC said, surprising Kevin a bit. "You mean, none of the guys know about you?" Kevin asked, his tone betraying his emotions. "No, they don't, and I'm not sure I'm ready for them to know, either." JC said, his fear deepening. "Why? They're fine with, Joey." Kevin said, in confusion. "I know. It's just that I'm not ready to come out to them. Does that make sense?" JC asked, feeling a bit foolish. "That makes perfect sense, Josh. You do what's right for you, but I can't keep something like this from, Joey. He already knows something is wrong, even though I haven't told him." Kevin said. "Kev, you can't tell him. It could ruin our whole relationship." JC said, in a pleading voice. "Josh, I don't think you're giving, Joey enough credit here. He's your best friend, man. He's not going to change his relationship with you because of this. In fact, it might even bring you guys closer together." Kevin said, almost choking on the words. "Kev, you know that I would never do anything to try to take him away from you, don't you?" JC asked, his voice of the utmost sincerity. "I know, Josh." Kevin said, his heart going out to JC. "Don't you think he has a right to know how you feel?" "I don't want to cause him any problems, Kev." JC said, his love for, Joey evident in his voice. "Don't you think it would cause more problems, if he hears it from someone else?" Kevin asked, giving JC a new insight on the situation. "Yeah, I guess, it would." JC said, in a defeated tone. "So, you'll tell him then?" Kevin asked, unsure of JC's mindset. "If I don't, you're going to tell him, aren't you?" JC asked, hoping for the best. "I can't hide it from him, Josh. It's not right. "Kevin stated, matter of factly. "Okay, I'll do it." JC said, his voice suddenly shaky. "Good, just remember, He's your best friend. Give him the benefit of the doubt here, okay?" Kevin said, his voice that of a caring parent. "I'll try, but, this isn't going to be easy." JC said, his tone almost defeated. "I know, but you'll feel a lot better once you've told him." Kevin said, attempting encouragement. "I hope you're right about this." JC said, his nervousness coming through in his voice. "Listen, Josh. Joey's finished with his shower, so, I'd better get off here." Kevin said, looking towards the bathroom door. "Okay, man. Thanks for calling and checking on me." JC said, with genuine gratitude. "No problem, that's what friends are for isn't it?" Kevin asked, trying to make a point. "Yeah, it is. Take care, Kev, and thanks again." JC said, ending his part of the conversation. "You too, Josh, bye," Kevin said, as he hung up the phone. "Who ya talking to, Kev?" Joey asked, taking Kevin by surprise. "Oh, it was just, Josh. He wasn't feeling well last night and I wanted to see if he was alright." Kevin said, in half truths. "Just can't stop doing that big brother thing can ya?" Joey said, with a smile. "No, I guess not." Kevin said, returning Joey's smile. "So, was Josh feeling okay?" Joey asked, concerned for his friend. "Yeah, he's doing better this morning." Kevin said, as thoughts of JC and Joey went through his mind. "Good, did your talk go okay, last night?" Joey asked, making Kevin tense a bit. "Umm, yeah, it went alright, I guess." Kevin said, causing Joey to look at him in confusion. "Kev, why do I get the feeling that you're keeping something from me?" Joey said, point blank. "What do you mean?" Kevin said, avoiding Joey's stare. "Kev, look at me." Joey said, catching Kevin's attention. "What?" Kevin said, looking him in the eye. "What are you hiding from me?" Joey asked, his eyes never leaving Kevin's. "Joey, please," Kevin said, lowering his eyes to the floor. "Please what, Kev? What's going on?" Joey asked, becoming a little worried with Kevin's actions. "Nothing, nothing is going on." Kevin said, holding his hands up as if he was surrendering. "Kevin, is something going on with you and Josh?" Joey asked, blind siding him with the question. "Excuse me?" Kevin said, looking at Joey in astonishment. "You heard me." Joey said, his eyes still fixed on Kevin. "There is nothing going on, between Josh and me. Why would you ask something like that?" Kevin asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. "I have my reasons." Joey said, with a little edge in his voice. "What reasons?" Kevin asked, wondering what Joey was holding back. "Let's just drop it, Okay?" Joey said, as he turned away from Kevin. "No, I don't want to drop it." Kevin asked, grabbing Joey by the arm and spinning him around to face him. "What are you doing?" Joey asked, as Kevin held him at arms' length. "Why would you think that something is going on between Josh and me?" Kevin asked, again. "Okay, okay, I'll tell you but you can't say anything to any of the other guys, because they don't know." Joey said, freeing himself from Kevin's grip. "Okay, I won't say anything. What's up?" Kevin asked, his mind spinning in several different directions. "Josh, is gay." Joey said, once again taking Kevin by surprise. "Oh, I see. If Josh is gay, then why haven't you guys hooked up?" Kevin asked. "Because, Josh doesn't know that I know." Joey said, walking to the window. "How do you know he's gay?" Kevin asked, wanting to get to the bottom of things. "He told me one night, when he was drunk. I doubt that he even remembers it." Joey said, still looking out the window. Before Kevin could say anything else, the phone rang, ending the topic of discussion. "Hello," Joey said, into the receiver. "Hey, Joey. Listen, are you free today? I need to talk to you about something." JC said, on the other end. "Hey, Josh." Joey said, looking in Kevin's direction. "I don't know if I am or not. Let me check with, Kev, hang on." "Okay," JC said, his nerves on edge. "Are we doing anything today? Josh, wants to get together and talk about something." Joey said, in Kevin's direction. "No, I don't have anything planned, go ahead, if ya want." Kevin said, although his heart was saying something totally different. "Josh, yeah, I'm free. What's up?" Joey said, hoping everything was alright with his friend. "Well, how about we go out for a long drive, or something, maybe get a bite to eat." JC said, furthering Joey's curiosity. "Sure, that sounds great. What time?" Joey asked. "Umm, let's say about 6 tonight?" JC asked, trying to hold himself together. "Great, 6 is fine with me. I'll meet you in your room around 5:50." Joey said, looking back at Kevin. "Okay, Joe. That's perfect. I'll see you then." JC said, ending his part of the conversation. "Okay, bye," Joey said, hanging up the phone. "Now that is just weird." "What?" Kevin replied. "We were just talking about him, and now he wants to go out and talk about something. Are you sure there's not something that you want to tell me?" Joey asked, giving Kevin a curious look. "All I can tell you is there is definitely nothing going on between Josh and me." Kevin said, his expression dropping a bit. "So, something is up, but you're not going to tell me about it, right?" Joey asked, trying to read into Kevin's expression and words. "Okay, I'll give you that much. Something is going on, but you know I can't say anything. That would be a violation of Josh's trust." Kevin said, hoping Joey would understand. "Umm, should I be worried?" Joey asked, suddenly becoming nervous. "No, Honey, everything will be fine. Just promise me that you will listen to him tonight and remember that he's your best friend." Kevin said, trying to prepare Joey. "Oh, man. Is it that bad?" Joey asked, his heart dropping. "No, just be open to him. He's kind of nervous about talking to you." Kevin said, trying not to give away too much. "Does this have to do with him being gay?" Joey asked, trying to put it all together. "Yeah, sort of, just listen to him, okay?" Kevin said, putting his arm around, Joey. "Well, yeah, of course, I'll listen to him and help as much as I can. I would hope he'd know that." Joey said, not believing his friend wouldn't trust him enough to tell him. "Is that how you felt when you told your friends about us?" Kevin said, reminding Joey, of how nervous he was about it. "Point taken," Joey said, hanging his head. "Don't worry, Sweetie. Everything will work out for the best." Kevin said, pulling Joey into a hug. "You know, I love you, don't you?" Joey asked, looking into Kevin's eyes. "Yeah, I know. I love you, too, Sweetheart." Kevin said, giving Joey a kiss on the lips. "You just go out, and have fun. Be Josh's friend tonight. I think you'll find that he will need that." Kevin said, leaving things there for the moment. "I will, Honey. He's my best friend. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him." Joey said, unknowingly wounding Kevin's heart. "Well, I guess, I'd better get out of here and let you start getting ready. What time are you guys leaving?" Kevin asked, as he gathered up his things. "Around 6, he said. We're just going to go for a drive and maybe get something to eat. I shouldn't be too late." Joey said, moving to stand next to Kevin as he slid on his shoes. "That's okay, Sweetie. You guys take as long as you need. Just call me, when you get back and let me know how things went, okay?" Kevin said, taking Joey's hand in his. "I will. You know I gotta see my, baby before I go to sleep." Joey said, straddling Kevin's lap with a big smile on his face. Kevin pulled him into a tight embrace thinking to himself, 'I sure hope you feel that way tomorrow morning.' "Well, I guess, I'd better jet." Kevin said, as Joey reluctantly moved from his lap. "C'mere you." He said, pulling Joey into a kiss. Joey returned Kevin's kiss holding him as if he would never see him again. All the while, Kevin was fearing that this would be the last time he would enjoy the feel of Joey's full lips on his. After finally breaking their kiss, Kevin took Joey's face in his hands and stared into his eyes. Joey could feel the urgency in his lover's stare. Before he could speak, Kevin broke the silence between them. "Joey, I want you to go out with, Josh, tonight and have a good time. I want you to follow your heart, no matter what your mind may say, but before you leave, I want you to know, that I love you, more than anything else on this earth. All I want is for you to be happy." Kevin said, as his eyes blurred with unshed tears. "Oh Sweetheart, I love you, too." Joey said, as they shared yet another kiss. He could sense the uneasiness in Kevin's body as he held him tightly. Although, Kevin swore that there was nothing going on between Josh and him, Joey couldn't shake the feeling that there was more at stake than either of his friends were willing to tell him.
