Chapter 15

Long Road Home

“Ok then little man I guess the three of us, you, teddy, and me will sleep in here then.” Trevor whispered as he turned out the light and covered us all up.

Yeah I know some people don’t think us kids know what’s going on, but we do and a lot of times want to help you grown ups out.  So as I tried to sleep I could feel Trevor gently lay his arm over my back and snuggle me and teddy closer to him.

Justin's POV:

Laying here watching Cameron sleep is just a pure joy in my life.  I would love nothing more than to just stay here in the bed all day, but the sun is slowly peeking in through the curtains and I need to get up.  As I slowly roll out of the bed Cameron rolls over onto his stomach where I was at and begins to lightly snore.  If only he knew how loud he can get when he does that he would plug his mouth at night.  Which reminds me I need to call Kasey again; he should be on his way down here to help us out with Trevor.

I closed the door to the bedroom and noticed Trevor's door was open as well as Cody's so I looked in on Trevor and found them both in his bed Cody still sleeping on his tummy just like his daddy with his teddy under his right arm.  Trevor was just watching him in awe as he slept there.

"Justin, I don't know what to say. He came in here last night and told me to keep his teddy because it would make me smile.  Then he climbed up into the bed and settled down to sleep.  I did not have the heart to make him leave.  I hope you’re not too upset with me."  Trevor said to me with downcast eyes still on Cody.

"Trevor, I am far from mad at you.  I'm really glad the Codman has taken a liking to you, because you’re going to be here with us for a while.  We are not going to just let you run off after all this has happened. You're part of the family now and Cody has just given you his seal of approval; just don't do anything to mess it up, or you’re going to have an angry mob after you."  I told him while motioning him to follow me downstairs.

Before we went down I gently lifted Cody and his teddy in my arms and put him back in his bed with a kiss to his forehead.  He snuggled back down into his blanket and never woke.  Trevor was waiting for me at the foot of the stairs with a look of complete awe.

"Yeah the house is a bit big, but this is just the pool house the real house is huge.  After we came back from Europe I decided I wanted a house big enough to hold the family, the guys, and anyone else that would stop by." I joked with him.

"Well I think you really did, umm, a great job of covering everyone with this place."  Trevor giggled.

As we headed into the kitchen I turned the coffee pot on and picked up the phone to make a call.  Trevor sat at the bar in the kitchen watching the coffee pot drip, drip, and drip with a cup in his hands.  I dialed a phone number that I have known for years.

"Hello, yeah I am on my way now, yeah yeah I know, look I am almost there can you at least tell me what’s going on?" was the reply on the other end.

"Kasey are you on your way here? You know how you have always been there for me when I need ya?  Where are you at now?  Ok here goes the short version. . .” and I told him everything that has happened over the last couple of weeks up to and including last night while walking into the den leaving Trevor with his now full cup of coffee in his hands.

"Yeah I know that I owe you big time for this, but trust me your really gonna feel different once you get here and see what I am talking about.  Yes I know that you don't feel ready, but I know that you can do this you just have to trust me.  Yeah I will have Lonnie come get ya once you get to the house.  No we are staying in the pool house for now.  Yes Cameron and Cody are staying here with me.  It's kind of like a starter home for us I guess you could say.  Kasey you know I have not asked him that yet.  He has no idea that I am planning on that for Christmas yet so keep your mouth shut about it please."  I discussed while walking back into the kitchen seeing Trevor happy and smiling now that he had some coffee in him.

Trevor's POV:

Seeing Justin walking around the house in his boxers and no shirt I could see how I fell in love with him so long ago.  It reminds me of our time we had together and what I have put him and his family through now, and I just want to die.  I know that he and Cameron both said they want to help me and I am sure the guys and their families are going to back us up as well.  I just will never understand how they can forgive me like they have I just thank God that they have.

"Justin, I know you, Cameron, and Cody live here so I will find me a motel to stay at until the hearing can be done with, that way I will be out of your hair." I told him.

"Listen we have already told you that your staying right here with us, besides no offense, do you have the money to even do that?" Justin asked kindly.

"Well no, not really but I am sure I could have worked out something some how." I whispered back to him.

"Trevor we are all going to be beside you the whole way through this you just have to believe in us and in you most of all.  Seeing you sitting there with your coffee reminds me of when you would do that on the bus when we were on tour.  You know that I love you, but my heart belongs to Cameron and Cody now.  With that being said I still love you though as a very close and dear friend and brother.  I have someone on his way down here to help us out with some things.  So you may have to put up with another guy in the house for a few days, but I think you will be able to handle this with no problems." Justin stated while giving me a firm look and smile.

"Oh you’re not trying to play match maker now are you Mr. Timberlake?  The last time I remember you did this it was quite an event and I'm not so sure that I am ready for that step yet."  I slowly stated.

"You’re not going to be thrown into his arms right away.  I just needed some help with a few things and think that the two of you will have a lot in common with each other and if it leads into something more then so be it.  We will just have to wait and see what happens.  All that I ask is that you keep an open and clear mind and heart while he is here. Now if you will excuse me I have two boys to go wake up, and they both act the same age if you catch my drift. Make yourself at home and feel free to explore around; you should know where most of the stuff is at; I have not moved anything since last time you were here."  Justin quickly stated while heading out of the kitchen and back up the stairs.

Justin's POV:

As I headed up the stairs I could hear giggles coming from our bedroom.  I knew that at least Cody was up.  I made my way to the door and peeked in and the sight before me was just too cute.  Cody was on Cameron's chest while Cameron had the covers up over his head and was playing peek-a-boo with him.  Every time Cameron would pull down the sheet Cody would giggle and clap his little hands together.  I made my way into the room and before I could reach the bed Cody turned around and was heading for me saying paaaaa paaaa pa pa pa pa, and opening and closing his little fingers.

I picked him up with both hands and gave him a kiss on his little cheek which got a giggle and a sloppy baby smooch on my face.

"Good morning baby. Trevor is already up and downstairs in the kitchen with his coffee.  I was just about to wake you up for yours.  Oh and you have no worries about him feeling out of place here Codeman and his teddy helped to keep him company last night.  I found the three of them in Trevor's bed this morning."  I told Cameron while giving him a gentle kiss on his lips.

"Mmmm babe if you keep doing that Cody is going to have to leave the room for a few minutes.  I am glad that Cody felt the need to keep him company he seems to really have a great way of making someone feel at home; I just hope that he was not a bother to him."  Cameron whispered back to me after our kiss.

"He told me that he was no problem at all; I think that Trevor kind of liked it anyway.  Oh and Kasey should be here by lunch; so the house is going to grow again for a few days, and don't look at me like that, yes I have already told Trevor about him and what I think he should do.  I would have never asked him to come down unless I really feel that in my heart it will do them both good.  Now let’s head down to the kitchen and get Cody some food and you your coffee."  I told him while keeping Cody on my hip and heading out the door of the bedroom back toward the stairs.

Cameron's POV:

As I followed Justin down the stairs I could see Trevor in the kitchen sipping his coffee, and trying to just take in his new surroundings.  I made my way to the coffee pot and filled my mug then took a seat across from Trevor while Justin kept Cody on his hip and started to fix him something to eat.

"Trevor I know that we kind of got off to a bad start; I just wanted to make sure that you’re doing ok. No hard feelings at all are going to be held as long as I am in this family."  I reassured him.

"Cameron I just don't know what to say to you.  All of you have been working so hard to make sure that I am ok, and for some reason I really feel that I am going to be great.  Justin already told me that you have some help on the way so I guess between all of you I am going to be great in no time."  Trevor gently stated while finishing his coffee.

While talking to Trevor I had noticed Justin was on the phone again and Cody was in his highchair eating and tossing his cereal around the floor while he giggled to himself.

"Well it seems that Kasey is here and headed to the door so I just want you to relax Trevor and meet us in the den so that I can tell you the true reason I have asked him down here to help out."  Justin told us while I helped Cody get his cereal in his mouth and not on the floor.

Kasey's POV:

Being here again after all these years can really bring back some memories of the good and bad at the same time.  I was not sure if I wanted to cry or laugh as I knocked on the door waiting to be let into this new chapter of my life.  As Justin opened the door I could hear what I guessed was Cody's laughter fill the room.  Then I spotted him and Cameron going through the doorway into the living room being followed by what I could only assume was Trevor, and my lungs seemed to not know what to do.  It was then that Justin spoke "Welcome back Kasey, it seems that you have already seen the reason you’re here, and from the look on your face you’re going to have your hands full."

"Thanks Justin; I was not prepared to be working with someone that is so breathtaking," I muttered to him as he led me into the living room, closing the door behind myself.

"Guys this is Kasey he is going to be helping out Trevor on his road to recovery while he stays with us."  Justin stated as he put his hands on the tops of Trevor’s shoulders.  To Trevor's credit, when he looked at me I could see a blush rise to his cheeks before he put his head back down again.

"And this is Cameron and Cody, guys this is Kasey."  Justin stated as he made his way around the group making introductions.  Cameron gave me a warm smile before having a small hand put into his mouth by a very active Cody who was just babbling away to himself about something.

"Well it's great to be here finally, and it’s a pleasure to meet all of you."  I stated while giving a polite wave of my hand.

"I am sure that Trevor would like to get more acquainted with you Kasey since you will be working so closely together.  So if you will excuse us the three of us are going to the kitchen to start on some breakfast for us, and you two sit here and talk a bit."  Justin commented while Cameron, Cody, and he went back into the kitchen filling it with sounds of pans being put to use, and laughter.

To be continued . . .
