Millennium Love Part 2 - Brian

Author's Notes: First I'd like to say WOW!
Thank you to everyone who gave me such positive feedback and suggestions for the first part of this story, it meant alot. (Especially my fellow Canuck!)

Second, As you probably noticed, I sent this part in HTML. A couple of people mentioned that they read all of part one from the one view, but only skimmed the second. So I thought this would make it easier. All the text in BLACK is common, but the text in BLUE is unique to that character's story. So for those that only want to read what's different between the characters, now you can.

As Before: This story is a little different. For each section, you have a choice to read the story from the view point of one of the two main characters: the fictional Scott Waters or Brian Littrell. BUT: If you read the story from both view points you'll get the entire story, particularly when the characters are not together.

I apologize if I seem to be in a bit of a time warp, but the idea for the story came to me and it fit the time line (hence the story's name Millennium Love). The story starts in October 1998 and runs up to the new millennium. Also, if some events don't coincide with real events, remember, it's only fiction!

Legalities: This story is fictitious. It is not meant to imply anything about any of the Backstreet Boys or anyone else. No, I am not Brian Littrell, or Scott Waters. If you're offended, go away. If you're curious, keep reading, you might like it ;-)

Thanks for reading.

Millennium Love Part 2 - Brian

"Who the hell do you think you are Kevin?" I spat at him. I didn't want Scott to leave. Despite knowing who I was, he treated me like a regular person. The thought of not getting a chance to know more about him frightened me. "I *know* we have to be careful. Do you think I would bring someone here without being certain?" I don't think the others had ever seen me so angry, especially with Kevin. Kevin looked at me intently.

"I'll go apologize, Brian," Kevin said quietly, and followed Scott's path out of the restaurant. I continued to struggle with Nick, A.J. and D. Finally, I sank down on the chair. I was exhausted from everything that had happened and I was afraid I would never see those green eyes again.

I looked up as Kevin came back to the table, with Scott. The guys let go of me and I stood up. I couldn't keep the concern from my voice. "Are you okay Scott? I'm so sorry about of all of this." I was still angry with Kevin and refused to look at him. What I really wanted to do was kiss Scott and bring that smile back to his face.

Scott reached out and put his hand on my shoulder, "Brian, Its okay. Kevin apologized. Just relax, eh."

We all laughed at his Canadian accent. Scott realized what he'd said and laughed too. He had a nice laugh. Scott sat back down in the chair beside me and picked up the menu. I knew why I was staring at him; I could guess why the others were. Scott realized we were watching him, so instead of ordering from the menu he asked, "So what do you recommend?"

Immediately Kevin, Nick, A.J. and Howie gave their suggestions. When the waiter arrived a minute later Scott ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, Nick's suggestion. I ordered the same.

Once the waiter left there was a moment of silence. I waited for the inevitable, and finally A.J. asked. "So what exactly happened this afternoon?"

Scott glanced over at me. He was probably wondering why I hadn't told Kevin what happened. They would find out eventually so I shrugged and took a drink of water.

Scott told them how we met. "I was just driving home from work when I saw this guy running across the street looking over his shoulder. All the cars slammed on their brakes." I shuddered as I remembered the feeling of panic I had being chased by so many fans. Scott continued, "I almost ran into him, but managed to stop. Then I noticed the mob of about fifty girls that had been following him. Brian had hid beside my car." he shrugged, "I could see this guy was tired and afraid so I rolled down my window and offered an escape route. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I recognized him."

The guys became very quiet. I knew they were thinking about other times they had encountered hordes of fans and looked for some help, often not finding any. Nick spoke for all of us. "Thank you," he said seriously. "Not many people would help a stranger like that." We all nodded in agreement.

Scott tried to lighten the mood. "Yeah, well it's gotten even stranger as the day's gone on." Everybody laughed and visibly relaxed.

Howie spoke up, asking Scott a question. "So are you really a Web administrator? That sounds cool."

Scott made a face. "Not really. Its pretty boring, basically a regular day job with the occasional after hour crisis."

"Oh, sounds terrible. A normal nine to five job; home every night." Kevin said with a look of mock horror.

Scott laughed, "Well compared to the excitement of your lives..."

He had no idea. "It's not everything people make it out to be," I said quietly.

The waiter arrived with the two meals. Once he left, Scott tried to break up the awkward silence. "So you guys are here for the music awards tomorrow night?" he asked as both of us began to eat. We nodded.

"Yeah, we arrived this morning and thought we'd spend a few days here. Toronto really is a great city." A.J. said. Canada was our first North America break and we really never forgot it. Besides, what I'd seen of the city was beautiful, clean yet thriving.

Scott spoke up. "Well I've only been working here a few months, but if anyone wants a tour let me know." I sat up at this information. Maybe I could see him again. He looked at me. "Someplace you want to see, Brian?" he asked.

I just smiled. "Maybe," I said, not yet willing to show what I was thinking.

The others all smirked, and I wanted to kick them. They knew what I was thinking but I didn't want Scott to; not yet anyway. I wanted to find out more about him.

Howie helped me out in that department. "So tell us more about your *normal* life Scott."

Scott looked around the table. The guys were all genuinely interested. Scott was the first guy I'd shown an interest in since I'd come out. Scott told us about his life, where he grew up; about his sports activities (including my favorite basketball). He'd gone to university and was now working in the city. For some reason, he didn't mention anything about his social life. Maybe he was afraid to tell us he was gay. I knew I could count on A.J.

"What about a girlfriend?" A.J. suddenly asked.

Scott paused for a moment before answering. "No one special in my life right now A.J." I tried to hide my grin. He wasn't taken, so maybe I had a shot. I glanced across the table at Kevin and saw the looks they all exchanged. I blushed because they knew exactly what I'd been thinking.

We remained sitting in the restaurant talking and ordering fresh drinks until almost ten, when Scott began to yawn. The others laughed and Kevin asked, "Are we boring you Scott?"

Scott smiled, "No. But I have been up since five thirty this morning and" he looked at the empty glass in front of him. He had no idea how much he'd had to drink. "I'm not used to the alcohol," he admitted, and I could see he was becoming embarrassed. "I really should go guys," he said suddenly. As he stood up, I could see him waver as the alcohol took effect. During the evening as I watched him drink I had reached into his coat pocket and slipped his keys out. I wasn't going to let him drive in his condition.

Before I could say anything, Scott said, "Thanks so much for the dinner and conversation, guys. I'm glad I got to know a little bit of the *real* Nick, A.J., Howie, Kevin and Brian." He stumbled over my name, and I looked at him closer. He was feeling the same way I was, but was afraid to say anything. He simply turned and walked out of the restaurant.

I forced myself to wait until he was out the door. Then I turned to the others. "He won't get very far." I said, holding up the car keys.

They grinned and Kevin said, "Good thinking B." He looked at me. "I'm sorry about earlier, I was just worried about you. But you were right, he seems like a nice guy."

"So is he?" Nick asked.

I smiled. "I think so Frack. But I want to find out for sure. I can't explain it, but I can't let this go. Not now." I hoped they would understand.

A.J. pulled out his wallet and paid the bill. "Then lets go see what Scott Waters is doing?" We walked out of the restaurant. Stopping just outside the door, we could see Scott leaning against his car, his head on the roof.

I turned to the others. "Are you guys going out to some clubs?" I asked quietly. They nodded. "I thought I'd try to get Scott to go back to the suite. Give him some coffee or something, then we could talk."

As the others discussed it, I watched Scott turn around and slide down beside the car. "Okay, Brian. Go talk to Scott, we'll keep a look out for cameras," Kevin said.

"Thanks guys!" I said, smiling my gratitude.

I walked over to the car and around the hood. I held the keys out and squatted down in front of Scott. He was looking at the ground so I lifted his chin with my fingers. He looked so sad. "You know Scott, friends don't let friends drink and drive," I said smiling gently. I wanted to kiss those unshed tears away, but instead I sat down beside him and took his hand between my gloves. I didn't want to chase him away, so I said softly, "The guys are going to go out to a club, but I thought maybe we could just go get some coffee?"

Scott didn't say a word. Then suddenly he leaned towards me and touched his lips to mine. The kiss was everything I had imagined and more. I knew at that moment that I'd found the piece missing from my life.
