Millennium Love Parts 3 & 4 - Scott

Author's Notes: First, thanks again to everyone who emailed me about this story. Although it's not the first one I posted, it's the first one I started to write so it's kinda my baby!

Second, All the text in BLACK is common, but the text in BLUE is unique to that character's story. So for those that only want to read what's different between the characters, now you can.

As Before: This story is a little different. For each section, you have a choice to read the story from the view point of one of the two main characters: the fictional Scott Waters or Brian Littrell. BUT: If you read the story from both view points you'll get the entire story, particularly when the characters are not together.

I apologize if I seem to be in a bit of a time warp, but the idea for the story came to me and it fit the time line (hence the story's name Millennium Love). The story starts in October 1998 and runs up to the new millennium. Also, if some events don't coincide with real events (i.e. I moved the Much Music Awards from September to October!), remember, it's only fiction!

Legalities: This story is fictitious. It is not meant to imply anything about any of the Backstreet Boys or anyone else. No, I am not Brian Littrell, or Scott Waters. If you're offended, go away. If you're curious, keep reading, you might like it ;-)

Please let me know what you think at kenitra_canada@hotmail.com (Please mention the story title somewhere in your message so I know which of my stories you like or don't like!)

Thanks for reading.

Millennium Love Parts 3 & 4 - Scott

Part 3

I didn't care that the alcohol was making me think and hear things that just weren't possible. For the second time that day, I did something completely spontaneous. I turned to Brian, leaned over and softly kissed those sensuous lips. The kiss was better than I had ever fantasized.

My eyes popped open as I realized what I had just done. I jumped to my feet. "Oh God, Brian, I'm sorry. Please forget that happened, it was just the alcohol." I continued to apologize, trying to hide my embarrassment, just hoping he wouldn't punch me, or worse, call the others over so they could all take a shot.

Brian reached out and gently touched my arm. "Scott." I just kept talking.

"Scott!" the sharper tone in his voice shut me up and I looked at him. "That was nice," he said, a grin spreading across that unbelievable mouth.

I just stood there looking at him. "What?" God, I really needed to sober up so I could think and hear clearly.

Brian quickly looked at his friends, who I realized later were standing guard, watching for unexpected fans or media. Kevin nodded and Brian returned his full attention to me. He stepped closer and said, "that was a nice kiss, Scott." He stood up on his toes and kissed me tenderly on the lips. I thought I detected a promise of something more, but wasn't certain. Brian cupped my cheek in his hand before asking, "now shouldn't we go get some coffee?"

All I could do was nod as I handed back my car keys. We walked around to the passenger side and I got in. Brian helped me fasten the seat belt, then kissed my cheek before closing the door. He stopped to talk to Kevin and the others before getting in the driver's side. Somehow, I had gone from being in control and rescuing Brian to a completely bewildered and exhausted state. I decided I didn't have to understand everything at that moment and leaned back, closing my eyes.

I must have dozed off because the next thing I knew, Brian was gently shaking me awake.

"Scott, wake up," he said as he brushed curls from my forehead. I slowly opened my eyes and found myself looking into the harsh artificial light of an underground parking lot. I pushed myself up in the seat and turned to look at Brian. He had turned the overhead light on and it reflected off his hair, creating a halo effect. He was smiling and I returned it.

"Where are we, Brian?" I asked.

"We're in the underground parking lot of our hotel," he replied. "I thought we could order up some coffee and talk without interruption. Is that okay?" he asked, suddenly unsure.

I kept smiling and answered, "Sounds good, Brian." I unbuckled the seatbelt and got out. The lightheadedness remained but it wasn't nearly as bad as it had been at the restaurant. I followed Brian to what looked liked a service elevator. He pulled out his magnetic door card and swiped it through the slot. The door slid open revealing a solid wood and mirror elevator, obviously not for deliveries. We stepped on and the door closed.

"This is a private elevator to the suites on the top floors," Brian explained. "We have the entire twenty-first floor to ourselves." He then reached over and pulled my face down to his. Our lips met in our first mutual kiss and I never wanted it to end. What started out as a hesitant, questioning kiss soon intensified as our mouths opened and tongues began to explore.

A thought suddenly occurred to me and I regretfully pulled my used lips from Brian. "Brian, what about cameras in the elevator? People could be watching us or worse, recording us."

He smiled and shook his head, before pulling me back to him. "It's a perk of paying for the most expensive rooms - privacy," he whispered before returning his lips to mine.

All too soon the elevator dinged and the door opened. Brian sighed as he broke contact, pulling me into the common area of the suite. I looked around. I could see the kitchen on the left and three doors on either side of the common area, leading to bedrooms, I guessed. On the wall opposite to me, I could see floor to ceiling windows with a door opening out onto a balcony.

Brian had moved further into the room until he reached one of the large couches. He sat down and picked up the phone, dialing room service. "Scott, do you want coffee, or something else?" he asked.

I came back to reality and smiled at him. "Tea would be nice, Brian." He made a face but ordered the tea for me. I moved to the overstuffed chair opposite of Brian and dropped into it, waiting for him to hang up the phone. I really needed to clarify what exactly was going on.

"Brian, I'm a little confused," I said with a slight frown. Things were moving very quickly. I'd only met him a little over five hours ago and here I was sitting in his hotel room wanting very much for him to kiss me again.

"Okay," he said as he leaned forward on the couch to rest his elbows on his knees. "What do you want to know, Scott?"

I didn't know where to begin so I blurted out the first thing in my head. "I thought you would be so furious when I kissed you in the parking lot. I never told you I was gay and I was sure you would hate me for it."

"Scott," he said gently. "I knew you were gay before you kissed me. I had a feeling soon after you saved me, but I knew for sure when we stopped at the variety store."

"How?" I was curious.

"I could tell the car was very much *your* car and when I was talking to Kevin I accidentally started the CD player." He stood up and walked over to me, sitting down on the coffee table in front of me. "Lets face it, not many straight twenty something men are big fans of ours. Not fans enough to make their own personal greatest hits CD."

I blushed and looked away from his penetrating stare, but he grabbed my chin and forced my eyes up.

"I thought it was sweet, Scott. I told Kevin on the phone that I had met this incredible guy, he wasn't like the typical people we meet, and he had done me a big favor." He smiled at the memory. "Of course, mother hen became concerned and told me to get my ass away from any stranger and get to the restaurant. I was so happy you offered to drive me because I didn't want to say goodbye to you yet."

I digested everything Brian had said, which was made more difficult by the distracting motion of his fingers along my jaw. The elevator buzzer went off indicating that room service had arrived. Brian let the waiter bring the cart with tea and coffee, and cheese and crackers into the room. I waited until the man left before broaching another line of thought. Brian went to the cart and poured me some tea.

"You're gay." It was more a statement than a question, but I needed to know for sure before I could let in that little ray of hope that was knocking at my heart.

"Really?" he said in mock surprise, and I blushed again. He grinned, "That's cute how you blush so easily," he said, as he handed me black tea (just the way I take it), then returned to fix coffee for himself. He returned to his position on the coffee table before continuing.

"This year has been a bit of hell for us. One of the people who founded the Backstreet Boys died; we were having conflicts with our management and I had to have heart surgery." I remembered Kevin mentioning something about Brian's heart and Brian saw the look of concern cross my face. He returned his hand to my jaw, smoothing the concern away. "I'm fine Scott. It had to do with a childhood illness. The surgeons repaired it and I'm 100 percent okay." I relaxed slightly. He wouldn't be singing and dancing like he did if he wasn't healthy I realized.

"Anyway, after the surgery, the five of us had a huge weekend-long heart to heart. The surgery made us all recognize our own mortality and how short life can be. Things had to change. We cleared the air of some smoldering problems and decided on new management. I decided that for me to be happy I had to tell my 'adopted' brothers what was going on in my head, despite the potential consequences. I was shocked that they weren't overly upset or surprised that I was gay. Nothing had ever been said, but..." He shrugged, "somehow they knew." He set his cup behind him and took mine from my hands.

"So, I'm very inexperienced in all of this, Scott." He slid off the table until he was kneeling between my legs. He rested his arms on my thighs and looked up at me. "You are the first man that I've met, that I would really like to get to know. Its so hard to find someone who is not a celebrity, wanting to be a celebrity or to make money. I just want something resembling normal, Scott." Tears began streaming down his cheeks and my heart broke at his loneliness. "Is that so much to ask for?" he whispered as I pulled him off the floor and into my arms, succumbing to my own desires. I held him close and kissed the tears from his face, I only wanted to ever see that wondrous smile on his face.

We sat like that for a long time; just holding each other, talking quietly, kissing and exploring the grooves and crevices of each other's face, ears, and neck. Our hands ran through hair, along shoulders and down arms and chests.

Finally Brian sighed and leaned against me, tucking his head into my shoulder. "Scott, is this okay with you?" he suddenly asked, pulling back so he could see my eyes. "I mean this is obviously okay," he said, indicating our current situation. "But I mean, I have a lot of baggage; I can't come out publicly and I travel all the time ..." He trailed off as reality sank in. "I'll understand if you would rather just leave things where they are now and not get any more involved." He tried to pull out of my arms but I held on tight. I pushed his head back to my shoulder, resting my chin on top and stroked his hair. It felt so right.

"Brian, I have to be honest with you. This is all rather hard to believe. I've only ever had one real boyfriend. His name was Drew and we met during our first year at university. We were together for two years but eventually realized we made much better friends than lovers. He's probably my best friend now. I've been single since then, almost three years. I've been a fan of the Backstreet Boys for almost that long, and I've," I paused, wondering if I should continue. He had a right to know, "I've had fantasies about you."

"Were they good?" Brian asked.

I laughed. "Oh they were hot alright. But today I saw some of the real you. The crazy life you have, the fear and paranoia you must live with to protect yourself. I also saw this regular, down-to-earth man simply looking for love. I would very much like to know *that* Brian better!"

"Good," he replied and snuggled closer.

We must have fallen asleep like that because the next thing I knew, someone was wrapping a blanket around Brian and I. Brian was sound asleep. I looked up to see Kevin smiling at us.

Part 4

We must have fallen asleep like that because the next thing I knew, someone was wrapping a blanket around Brian and I. Brian was sound asleep. I looked up to see Kevin smiling at us.

"Hi Scott," he whispered. I grimaced as I shifted Brian's weight and realized I was getting a kink in my back. "Do you want me to take him?" Kevin asked. "He could sleep through a hurricane so it won't wake him." He smiled fondly at his cousin.

I shook my head and shifted again so I could get my arms under Brian's knees and shoulders. I wasn't going to let him go until I had to. "Its okay Kevin, could you just show me which room is his." I stood up, holding Brian in my arms and carried him carefully to the door Kevin was holding open. I set Brian down on the double bed, careful not to wake him. He rolled over and snuggled up to the pillow. I smiled and pulled a blanket up over him. Softly touching his cheek, I shook my head in amazement that this man, who could have anyone he wanted, seemed to want me. I turned to find Kevin watching me. I joined him at the door.

"You don't have to leave him, Scott," he whispered.

"I'll be back," I promised. "But right now I'm wide awake and don't want to disturb him." I closed the door silently behind us and found myself face to face with the rest of Brian's friends.

A.J. spoke first, "you know, you're pretty strong for a computer geek." We all laughed and moved back to the couches. Someone had ordered more room service and I discovered Howie was the one who preferred tea instead of coffee, like me. I poured myself a cup and found a spot on the couch beside Nick.

"So did you and Brian work everything out, Scott?" Howie asked.

I thought about it for a minute, then smiled. "I think so Howie. We both came to the conclusion that we'd like to get to know each other better. That's a start." I couldn't begin to explain how strong my feelings for Brian actually were; they wouldn't understand or wouldn't believe it.

Nick suddenly leaned over and hugged me. "This is so cool," he said enthusiastically. "Bri has been so subdued lately; he thought he would never find someone and you seem like the real thing Scott."

"Thanks Nick," I said with a smile, happy that the guys were willing to accept me as I was.

"Scott," A.J. said and I looked at him, "we're not trying to interrogate you, but would you mind if we asked you some questions?"

Kevin added, "If you're not comfortable answering something, just say so."

It was amazing how protective they were of Brian. "Sure guys. I realize that this is all probably as new to you as it is for Brian," I said as I continued drinking my tea.

"So have you dated a lot, Scott?" Howie asked the first question.

I looked at him, then the others and came to a decision. "How about I tell you the short, but complete version of my life? Then if you have any questions, I'll try to answer them," I suggested. They agreed. I told them basically what I'd told Brian, about Drew and my single status since then. I finished by saying, "so while I do have more experience than Brian, I'm certainly no Don Juan." They all smiled.

"I do have one more question, Scott," A.J. said. "I guess I'll just say it bluntly - what is it about Brian that you're interested in?"

"A.J.!" the others all exclaimed.

I met A.J.'s stare. I guess I would have to try to explain what I was feeling. "That's a fair question A.J. I'm *NOT* interested in his money, or fame or the bubble life he has to live. I *am* interested in the man who wouldn't let me drive drunk; the man who trembled with fear at the thought of being chased by a mob of fans; the man who cried when he said all he wanted was a relationship resembling normal; the man whose smile can light up a room. He's a sweet, sincere and sexy man, A.J. The question I have is 'why me?'" When I finished talking, A.J. nodded, accepting my response. All four looked at me differently; with more understanding and respect. I finished my tea and yawned. It was almost two in the morning. "If you guys will excuse me, I think I need to get some sleep. Goodnight." I walked over to Brian's door, but stopped when Kevin spoke.

"Scott." I looked over to Kevin. "Just one more thing? We need to know that you won't discuss Brian or your relationship with anyone."

"Don't worry Kevin. I wouldn't do anything that could hurt Brian or any of you."

"Thank you," Kevin said sincerely.

I nodded then slipped through the door, closing it securely. I stood at the foot of the bed simply staring at the man asleep. He looked so young and vulnerable. I had a sudden terrible thought that this was all a dream and I would wake up in the morning in my own bed, alone. I quickly kicked off my shoes and moved to the empty side of the bed. I had no sooner slid under the blanket than Brian rolled over, flinging his arm across my chest and laying his head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around him and closed my eyes.

"Scott," Brian murmured.

"I'm here Brian," I whispered.

"Just checking," he muttered and fell back asleep. I followed a minute later.

*********

I woke up to the sound of running water and with no idea where I was. I quickly turned my head to the side and immediately regretted it, as my skull felt like it was about to split open. I stopped moving and closed my eyes, waiting for the initial wave of nausea to pass. Before I could collect my thoughts, the water stopped running and a few seconds later I could sense someone standing beside the bed.

I squinted up. Brian was standing there with only a towel wrapped around his hips, dripping water onto the floor. He was smiling, holding a glass of water and two aspirin. I managed a weak smile as I gratefully accepted the water and aspirin. Brian moved out of my line of sight and I could hear him digging through his suitcase. A short time later, the bed moved as he crawled up beside me. I rolled over to face him, noticing the black cargo pants he had pulled on. He hadn't bothered with a shirt.

"Good morning," he whispered as he leaned in to kiss my forehead, then moved down to my nose, cheeks and finally my mouth. I almost forgot my headache as the memories of the night before were recalled and new memories created. Brian continued to hold me, gently kissing every inch of my face and throat. The sensation was actually lulling me back to sleep.

He laughed softly, "You know, you aren't very good for the ego."

"I'm sorry," I replied as I wiggled closer to him, enjoying the feeling of his bare skin under my hand. "I haven't had a bad hangover since my first year of university. Now I remember why." I continued to run my hand over Brian's bare chest, stopping at each nipple. I found the scar over his heart and traced it with my finger.

The aspirin was beginning to kick in and I lifted my head so I could look at Brian; I wanted to be sure I wasn't dreaming.

"Feeling better," he asked with a smile.

"Mmm-hmm. Be right back." I rolled off the bed and went to the bathroom. After relieving myself, I found Brian's mouthwash and took a mouthful. That would have to take care of the morning breath.

I returned to the bedroom only to find Brian gone. I flopped down onto the bed. A few seconds later the door opened and Brian came in carrying a tray with juice, tea and pancakes.

"I thought you had been a figment of my imagination!" I told him, propping myself up on my side. Brian set the tray down in front of me then sat down by my knees.

"Sorry, you won't get rid of me that easily," he grinned. "Do you feel like eating something? I'm starved." With that, he grabbed a fork and speared a pancake. I decided to start with tea and see what my stomach had to say.

"Kevin told me how you carried me in here and put me to bed. Thank you." Brian leaned in for a quick kiss. "Mmm, minty fresh," he quipped. I laughed. "I slept like a log, as you probably noticed," he said. "How did you sleep?" he asked seriously.

I thought about it. Despite the hangover, and the early hour (it was only eight), I felt good, really good. I looked at Brian. "I think I slept better last night than I have in years," I said truthfully. Then added, "Of course it was probably just the alcohol and had nothing to do with the company."

"Hey!" Brian objected and poked me in the belly. There was a knock at the door. "Come in," Brian said.

Kevin poked his head around the door. "Morning Scott. Bri, we have to leave in half an hour, okay? They moved the interview up an hour." Brian nodded and Kevin left, closing the door behind him. Reality had once again set in. Brian was looking at me, so I set my cup down and met his gaze.

"So where do we go from here?"
