Previously

I slowly walked towards the singers. As I got near the center of the stage, I could hear Kevin and Howie start to sing, drawing the crowd in too. Once I reached Brian, I pretended to smile, knowing I was probably on one of the large video screens. "You have no idea how much you'll pay for this," I said, as threatening as I could through the smile. He laughed.

I stood there and grinned as the singers and about fifteen thousand fans sang to me. It was something I wouldn't soon forget.

Chapter 43 - Scott

I had been hoping we'd be able to sleep in the next morning, but who was I kidding? We'd got back to the hotel in good time last night, but I owed Brian for that 'happy birthday' stunt. And I made sure he paid. I think we both enjoyed his punishment, but it meant we didn't get to sleep until the early morning hours.

And now Brian's cell phone was ringing. I watched as he slowly rolled out of bed and walked over to the table to answer it. I could tell he was a little sore from our activities the night before.

"Hello?" Brian said as he answered the phone. "Yes," he replied. I wondered who it was. His eyes widened as the other person spoke. "Yes Ma'am." 'Ma'am?' "Okay, Oprah." My jaw almost hit the floor. He was talking to Oprah Winfrey! I knew it was about the interview we wanted to do. She had been our number one choice and I hoped she agreed to do it. I sat up in bed and listened more closely. "Um…you don't tape phone conversations do you? I'm sorry if I sound paranoid, but I need to know that anything I say, doesn't get out until we're ready," Brian explained. Brian sighed. "Okay, thanks. To answer your questions, the reason we chose you, is you are fair but demanding. You want the truth, but you don't attack people to get it. And you are highly respected by millions of people. We don't want to become a media circus, we just want to make sure people know the truth, not what the tabloids say." Brian looked over at me and smiled.

He walked back to the bed as he listened, then laughed nervously. "Oh, sorry. No, the 'we' I'm talking about is my lover and myself. My gorgeous, sexy, smart, male lover." I felt myself blush at his words, but he just smiled lovingly at me. "Which I guess answers your other question. That is what the interview would be about." He looked at me again and I could see the love pouring from him. "I am. Completely and absolutely in love," he said sincerely. I just wanted to grab the phone, toss it and kiss him stupid. Instead I just pulled him into a hug while he continued to talk.

"Yes, we want to go public, but we want to try to minimize all the lies and stories the tabloids come up with. We thought if we made the announcement ourselves, and answered some real questions about ourselves, that we could avoid some problems. At least that is what we are hoping," he added. His fingers were absently stroking my thigh, and I could feel my body responding to his nearness. "Well, the interview could be at your convenience, however, Scott and I were planning on going out, as a couple, New Years Eve. I know that doesn't give you much warning, but we've only had the last few days to plan things. I guess the only stipulation we have is that the interview doesn't air before New Years Eve. We really need the rest of this month to prepare ourselves and our families." He listened again then looked at me. "She wants to know where we want the interview done? What about at the farm?" I nodded. The farm was perfect. He turned back to the phone. "My parents have a large farm outside Lexington, Kentucky. Would it be okay if we did the interview there?" He smiled so I knew she had agreed.

"December 28th would be perfect, Oprah. You don't know how much Scott and I appreciate this." Brian listened then laughed. "That would be great. I'll make sure our rep gets you all the information you need. We both look forward to seeing you on the 28th and we hope you have a great Christmas!" Brian hung up the phone and looked at me with a grin. "Its set!" He pulled me into a hug. "She said she's looking forward to meeting you," he added. Great! No pressure there.

We fell back onto the bed, with Brian straddling me. He leaned down and very softly, kissed me. "I…love…you," he whispered, pausing between each word to kiss a different spot on my face.

I smiled up at him and opened my mouth to speak.

"Wake up guys! You have half an hour until breakfast," Howie shouted from outside the room, accompanying his words with banging on our door.

Brian groaned and rolled off of me. I laughed. What else could I do? Brian's band mates had always had impeccable timing!

I nudged Brian with my elbow then rolled off the bed. "Come on, Love. We'll get this day over with, then we have two days off!" I said encouragingly.

Brian sighed and followed me into the bathroom. We took a quick, shared shower, with no fooling around, before joining the others across the hall for breakfast. Brian told them about talking to Oprah, and the arrangements we had for the interview. They all seemed genuinely happy for us.

This day wasn't quite as hectic as the day before. The guys left after breakfast to visit one radio station for an hour, before travelling across town to another radio station, again for an hour. They finished at one and returned to the hotel.

Brian and I were able to relax in our room for a few hours before the group was needed at the New Orleans arena for sound check. I went with them this time, sitting down in the front row of seats watching them goof around on stage. It was times like that when I began to hope everything wouldn't fall apart because of my relationship with Brian. He was meant to be on stage, performing.

I was able to relax and really enjoy the concert, having had part of my 'birthday surprise' the night before. The guys were hyper and wild and put on an amazing show. I thought it was one of their best, and was glad I'd been able to see it.

The morning of my birthday, I was wakened by a mind numbing blowjob. I woke up screaming as I came. Brian crawled up my quivering body to stretch out on top of me. I managed to open my eyes and look at him. He was grinning like a Cheshire cat.

"Good morning," he murmured before nibbling on my chin. "Happy birthday, my sweet angel. I love you."

"Mmmm," I managed to groan out.

Brian laughed. "I have your day planned, so its time to get up," he added.

The boy was too awake and chipper for morning. I reached up and wrapped my arms around him then rolled us over so I was lying on top. I tucked my head in the crook of his neck. "Sleep," I muttered.

Brian licked my ear. "You can have a nap this afternoon, Scott," he promised. "But breakfast is going to be here any minute."

I sighed and rolled to my back, stretching my arms over my head before glancing over at Brian. "Okay, you win. I'm awake. You better be worth it."

Brian grinned and leaned over to kiss me. "I am," he whispered. Before we could get any further there was a knock at the door. Brian rolled off the bed and I pulled the blankets up over my head. No sense taking chances yet.

I heard Brian close the door and sat up to watch him push the cart over to the side of the bed. The food was covered so I couldn't tell what Brian had ordered. He sat down beside me, with the cart beside him.

"Close your eyes," he told me. I did. When he touched my mouth, I opened it letting him feed me. The taste of whipped cream and strawberries raced over my taste buds. I moaned enthusiastically.

Brian continued to feed me a variety of fruit dipped in whipped cream with the occasional bite dipped in chocolate. It was light and delectable. He signaled the end by kissing me, tasting the remnants of chocolate and cream still in my mouth.

I opened my eyes and grinned at him. "Perfect," I murmured.

He smiled brilliantly. "I know it's fairly light, but we have a lunch date in a couple of hours with a few other people," Brian explained.

I really wanted to ask 'whom', but knew he wanted to surprise me. And I could wait. "So what comes next?" I asked as I leaned forward for another taste of pure Brian.

Brian moved the cart away and walked over to the dresser. He opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a bag that he brought back to the bed. He dumped the contents beside me.

There were about ten different bottles of massage oils, different scents, some edible, some not. Brian walked to the bathroom and came back with one of the large hotel towels.

"So who would like a full body message?" he asked holding the towel around his neck.

I laughed and waved my hand. "I do, I do!"

We managed to occupy our time for the next couple of hours and turn me into a bowl of jelly at the same time. I'd experienced shorter massages from Brian before so I knew he knew what to do. But the entire body massage he gave me was unbelievable. Every muscle in my body felt relaxed. And he worked in such a way, that although it was sensual, it wasn't sexual. Neither of us became aroused yet I definitely felt all of his love for me through every touch of his fingers and hands.

Eventually Brian stopped and lay down beside me on the bed. We simply relaxed quietly for a few minutes before we had to get up, shower and dress. I felt so close to Brian, so loved, that it was difficult not to touch him all the time. But he didn't appear to mind every time I 'accidentally' brushed past him.

Once we were ready, Brian led us downstairs. We by-passed the dining room, instead walking to a private room. I knew there would be people there, but it was a really great surprise to find, not only the other singers, but also the rest of the crew, dancers and technicians. I was glad they didn't turn it into a surprise party. I'd had my surprise on my previous birthday.

Everyone wished me a happy birthday as, hand in hand, Brian and I made our way through the crowd of 50 or 60 people. That was the real treat. Since everyone in the Backstreet organization already knew about Brian and I, we didn't have to hide.

At the main table there was a huge chocolate cake in the shape of a computer monitor and keyboard. It was amazing.

Brian held up his hand to get everybody's attention. "I know we're all hungry. And from the smell of the food on the buffet, I know we're going to have a great meal. But since this is a birthday party, I thought we should have a few words from the guest of honor!" he announced.

I was so relaxed I just smiled at Brian, before moving in front. "Well, I don't know what your day has been like, but mine has been pretty incredible so far." I glanced at Brian. "By the way, if anyone wants a mind blowing massage, I'm willing to rent him out," I said, nodding towards Brian.

"Hey!" he protested making the crowd laugh.

"Just kidding! Those hands are off limits as is the rest of him!" More laughter. "Seriously, I'd like to thank all of you for making me feel welcome as part of the Backstreet team. The last year plus has been incredible. And hopefully with the support of people like all of you, there will be many more years of Backstreet to come."

Everybody cheered. Brian and I led the line to the buffet table. It was laden with both breakfast and lunch foods, everything from bacon, eggs and pancakes to salad, cold meats and soup. We filled our plates and found a table to sit at.

It was a rowdy but fun meal. As we finished eating Kevin stood to make an announcement.

"A few weeks ago, a few people approached me wondering what they could get Scott for his birthday. I really didn't have a clue," he admitted to laughter. "Then a few days later, these same people came back to me with a suggestion. As far as I know, every person here, with the exception of the birthday boy, and his partner, has contributed to this gift." He paused. "It's actually a joint gift including Brian's birthday next month." Kevin pulled out an envelope and handed it to us. Brian let me do the honors.

I was stunned. Inside was a cheque for $250 000 with a note indicating the money was to be donated in our names to a gay and lesbian organization in Orlando and one in Toronto. I was speechless and simply handed the papers to Brian.

Brian was also incredulous.

I finally collected my thoughts enough to speak. "Wow! I'm not sure what to say except thank you! This is truly a remarkable gift. The acceptance we have received from all of you is incredible and I think Brian and I both realize how fortunate we have been. Hopefully this money will help some of those who haven't been as lucky. Thanks." I quickly finished and sat down because I was getting emotional.

Brian was feeling the same way and leaned over to hug me. "We are truly blessed," he whispered. I couldn't agree more.

The party wrapped up after that. People gradually left until only the singers and a couple of security guys remained. Brian glanced at his watch then walked over to whisper to Nick. I saw Nick nod his head and smile before Brian walked back to me.

He kissed my cheek. "I'll see you in a couple of hours. Be good!" he said then walked out of the room.

Before I could follow him, Nick and the others intercepted me. "Nope. You're coming with us!" Nick declared. I didn't have a choice but to follow them. We returned to the floor our rooms were on. That's where I was given my options.

"We can watch movies or play video games up here, or use the game room downstairs with pool tables and pinball machines. Or we can swim or use the weight room," Kevin listed the choices. "So what will it be?"

I thought about it for a moment. I was still feeling the effects of Brian's massage from earlier so I didn't want to work out or swim. "Let's go downstairs and play some pool," I decided. I wasn't the best pool player, but I could practice. Or I could just watch the others play. I was more interested in wondering what Brian had planned.

Kevin made a phone call, then we took the elevator down to the basement. The room had been reserved for Backstreet personnel only and we found about a dozen other people already there playing the different games. Nick dragged me to a pool table with Kevin and Howie following. We paired up and played a few games. It turned out to be a lot of fun and before I knew it, Marcus appeared to take me to my next surprise.

He walked with me to the elevator then rode up with me a few floors before the elevator stopped. Despite my attempts to get him to talk, he wouldn't say a word. We got off at the 8thfloor and walked partway down the hall. He stopped me in front of a room and told me to enter.

I gave him another look, then did as he said. He pulled the door closed behind me. I walked into the room and looked around. I paused when I noticed a man sitting in the chair. He had really curly brown hair and reading glasses. When he looked up, I noticed he had brown eyes. Then I looked closer and my jaw dropped.

"Bri?" I asked in disbelief.

It was only when he smiled that beloved, private smile that I was sure it was in fact, Brian.

He stood up and walked towards me. "What do you think?" he asked.

I shook my head and grinned. "If you hadn't smiled when you did, I would have walked out," I told him.

He reached me and pulled me into a hug. "So I guess my plan will work," he said.

I pulled back and kissed him. It almost felt like cheating! "What plan?" I asked.

He pulled me over to the chairs by the window. "I was doing some surfing on the net for gay friendly places. I found a number of them here in New Orleans. So I thought, we could go out and really celebrate tonight. We have a reservation in a restaurant in the Quarter, then we're going dancing at a club," Brian announced.

"A club?" I sounded doubtful.

Brian just smiled. "It will be fine, Scott. It's a gay club called Club Icon. Apparently it's hot!" Brian wrapped his arms around my neck and sat down on my lap. "Please? I want to go dancing with my lover and show him off," he begged.

I pulled back to look at him again. "Well, no one is likely to recognize you. I mean I barely did, and I know you better than anyone," I reluctantly admitted.

Brian grinned. "Great! This will be fun, I promise, Scott." He jumped up and pulled me to my feet. "I've got our clothes set out in our room, so lets go get ready," he said.

I looked around as we were leaving. "Whose room is this?" I asked.

Brian laughed. "It's Marissa's! She did all this for me," he said indicating his new hair color and contacts. Marissa was in charge of Backstreet hair and makeup.

We quickly made our way back to our room. Brian pushed me into the shower, but I managed to drag him in with me. His enthusiasm was catching and I started looking forward to the night. Out in the room, I'd discovered Brian had pulled out a pair of my old jeans that were well worn and snug, in all the right places. I noticed Brian had a pair of leather pants that he must have taken from the costume department. I watch with ever 'growing' enthusiasm as he poured himself into the black pants. The leather was soft and supple and he looked incredible. He pulled on a stretchy, dark red, short sleeve, shirt that molded to his muscles. Over top of that he put on a black silk shirt.

I think I must have been drooling. Brian noticed my attention and grinned. "Hurry up and get dressed Angel," he said softly. I turned back to my own clothes.

To go with the snug jeans, Brian had selected a dark green shirt for me that matched his red one. To go over top while we were at dinner, a matching green silk shirt.

We both pulled on short black boots to complete our outfits. I let Brian put some gel in my hair to make it glisten. We stopped in the bathroom to look at our selves in the mirror. I thought we both looked hot!

"Wow, Scott. We should do this more often," Brian commented. "You look good enough to eat," he added as he turned towards me and kissed my throat.

It took me a minute to realize what he had said, and put it together with what he was doing. "Brian!" I exclaimed and pulled back. But it was too late. He had left a nice red mark on the right side of my neck that wasn't hidden by my shirts.

Brian looked up at me. "Sorry, but you look so good, I just want everyone to know you're taken," he said sincerely.

I grinned. "If you didn't have to meet with reporters in less than forty-eight hours, you would have a matching mark," I told him.

We made sure we had our wallets and cell phones before we left. I wondered about security, but figured Brian had it taken care of. No one even looked at us as we caught a cab in front of the hotel. Brian gave the driver the name and address for the restaurant and we were on our way.

Brian reached across the seat of the car to hold my hand. My immediate reaction was to try to move my hand. Brian wouldn't let me. I looked over at him but he just smiled and squeezed my fingers. I decided to try to just relax and enjoy.

We enjoyed looking at the city as the car wound its way through the streets to the restaurant. The one thing that both of us noticed as we got closer to our destination, was the number of gay couples among the crowds on the streets. We saw numerous male and female couples walking around, holding hands, with no one paying any attention. Brian and I smiled at each other. It was nice to see.

When the car stopped, Brian slid out, pulling me with him. He wouldn't let go of my hand. He paid the driver then we walked into the restaurant. Brian spoke to the hostess. "Brian Thomas, reservations for two," he said. She smiled.

"Right this way gentlemen," she said as she led us to our table. It was a nice restaurant, and the tables were all fairly private. "Your waiter will be Jason, and he'll be right with you," she said before walking away.

I grinned at Brian and looked at the menu. The restaurant offered a wide variety of food, making it difficult to choose. We talked about the options for a minute before the waiter arrived.

I glanced up at him. He was tall, dark haired, and, I admit, cute, but not as cute as Brian!

"May I get you gentlemen a drink before dinner?" he asked. "Or would you just like to order now?"

"We were wondering if you could recommend a few of the entrees," Brian said.

The waiter, Jason, smiled. "Sure. First I should ask if you've eaten Cajun before, or do you like it?"

"It's my first visit here, so I've never had it. But I really don't like spicy food anyway," I admitted.

"You dull, boring, Canuck," Brian joked. I knew he didn't really like spicy stuff either.

Jason grinned. "Hey, you Canadian? I'm from near Toronto," he said.

I smiled. "Me too!"

"Well, I don't want to keep you two from your dinner," he said. Jason pointed out a number of main dishes that went easy on spices. Brian and I decided to try one each, so we could share. Brian also ordered us a bottle of wine. Jason took the order then left.

Brian looked over at me. "You flirting with another man?" he asked, pretending to be angry.

I reached across and rested my hand on his. "Like there is anyone else I'd even look at twice after having had you," I said softly.

Brian blushed.

Jason returned with the wine and glasses.

"So what are you doing so far from home?" I asked Jason, as Brian tasted the wine.

"I'm going to school here," he explained. "Tulane." Brian nodded and Jason poured the wine. "Enjoy," he said before leaving.

I sipped the wine and stared at Brian. Even with the brown hair and brown eyes, he was still my man. "This was a good idea, Bri," I said quietly.

He grinned and raised his glass. "To us," he toasted.

"To us!" The glasses clinked then we both drank.

"I'm looking forward to being able to do this regularly," Brian commented.

I knew what he meant. It was great to be able to be out, together, and show affection, without having to worry about consequences.

We chatted about our plans for the next few days. We would be leaving for Oklahoma the next day. After one concert in Tulsa, there was an all night bus ride taking us to Denver. Then after the Denver concert, Brian and I would be flying to Toronto to visit my family.

Jason returned with our meals. Brian had shrimp etouffee, while I had the Jambalaya. Brian and I ate the meal by taking a bite from our own plates, then one from the other's plate. Both meals were excellent. I had lost my initial nervousness and simply smiled when Brian insisted on using his fork to feed me a bite of shrimp.

As we finished the meal, Jason arrived to remove the empty plates. I'd noticed him occasionally watching us during the meal. I was pretty sure he'd figured out who Brian was, but I wasn't worried; for some reason I figured he'd keep our secret.

"Would either of you like coffee and or dessert?" Jason asked.

I looked at Brian. I was too full for more food and I was sure he was too. "I think we'll pass on dessert, but I'd like some tea, and coffee for Brian, please," I replied.

"Sure thing, Mr. Waters," Jason replied quietly before moving away.

Brian looked up in surprise when he heard my name. I smiled across at him. "I thought he'd figured us out," I admitted. "I think that was just his way of letting us know that he had, but would keep quiet."

Brian was quiet for a moment then nodded. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I imagine there were a few gay guys at the concert the other night when you were front and center. But," he said with a smile. "I'm not going to worry about it any more. Things will be out in the open soon enough."

I returned his smile, overjoyed at the dramatic change in his attitude. And that he was so comfortable with his decision. Jason returned with our beverages. Brian smiled up at him. "Thank you, Jason," he said sincerely.

Jason grinned and shrugged. "No problem Mr. Littrell. We have to protect our own," he said.

Brian and I lingered over the drinks until it was after ten. Finally he signaled for the bill. When Jason brought it, Brian asked Jason to call a cab for us as well. Brian left an overly generous tip, but I just grinned, figuring Jason deserved it. We both thanked Jason again before we left. The cab was waiting and Brian held the door for me while I stepped into the car. Once Brian was in, he gave directions to the club. The cab driver knew exactly where it was.

It only took a few minutes to get there. I could tell we were approaching it, from the lineup standing out on the street. It wound halfway down the block. The car stopped at the end of the block and Brian paid the driver. As we started towards the end of the line, Brian grabbed my hand, entwining our fingers. I was dubious about our chances to get inside, but I should have known Brian had taken care of everything. Before we reached the line, a nearby door opened, to reveal Marcus. I grinned at the bodyguard as Brian led us in the private entrance of the club.

We were immediately bombarded by the loud, pounding beat of music. Brian and I looked at each other and grinned. We made our way out into the main part of the club and stopped. I don't know about Brian, but I certainly had never been to a club like this one. It was wall-to-wall men! Incredibly buff, gorgeous men, some of them wearing practically nothing.

Brian grabbed my hand and started to lead me through the mass of pulsing bodies. I finally realized he was following Marcus. We eventually reached a table tucked against the wall. Tom was already there. I grinned at him as he raised his glass in salutation. I knew it was only water or juice he was drinking. I was also impressed that both men, whom I knew to be straight, looked so comfortable in the obviously gay bar.

Brian stripped off his black shirt, so I followed suit, taking off my silk shirt. Brian took it from my hands and tossed it onto one of the chairs, and then grabbed my hand again, pulling me out onto the dance floor.

We found a tiny corner, and let loose. We danced through two songs before deciding to take a break and return to the table. Marcus had gotten us both a drink so Brian and I sat down, sipped the drinks and looked around.

Brian leaned towards me. "So what do you think?" he shouted over the loud music.

I turned my head and kissed his cheek. "This is wild. I'd only ever heard about clubs like this," I admitted.

We sat watching the club dancers, dancing on the small podiums, set throughout the club. We jokingly rated each of them. In my opinion, none could meet my standards!

I set my empty glass down, and pulled Brian back onto the dance floor. Even though it was a fast song, we danced close together, moving against each other, teasing one another. I couldn't remember ever feeling so liberated. I hoped we'd be able to go out to clubs once in a while, once everything went public.

We danced for another half hour before I decided I needed something to quench my thirst. I leaned towards Brian. "I'm going to get us more drinks," I shouted. Brian smiled and nodded. I turned to head to the bar, when Brian grabbed me and turned me back around. He pulled me close and kissed me hard and passionately. When he let me go, I was breathless! "What was that for?" I asked.

He grinned. "Just to remind you, you can look, but don't touch!"

I laughed and pulled him into a tight hug. "Brian, love why would I even look when I have the hottest guy here?" I asked as quietly as I could, but loud enough for Brian to hear. He simply laughed and turned me towards the bar, giving me a gently push.

At the bar, I waited until I got the bartender's attention. Before I could order our drinks, a man squeezed in against the bar beside me.

"Buy you a drink?" he asked, leaning close to me.

I could smell the alcohol strongly on his breath. I looked at him and shook my head. "No thanks," I said. I could tell from his eyes that he'd taken some drugs too. I turned back to the bar, and ordered our drinks.

The stoned man beside me put his arm around me. I immediately shrugged my shoulders and moved, trying to dislodge him.

"Come on, beautiful," he slurred. "Just one drink?"

"No!" I said forcefully and tried to ignore him. The bartender set the drinks down and I handed him some money. I looked around while I waited for change, ignoring the man beside me.

"Hey! Ouch! Ouch!" He started to yell beside me. I turned to look.

Another guy was tightly gripping the guy's hand. Then I noticed the vial he had in his hand.

"It's just a little X man," he whined. I realized he had been about to put the drug in our drinks. The new man twisted the man's arm behind him, pulling the vial from him in the process. A few seconds later, two of the club's bouncers arrived. The second man explained what was happening, and the drugged man was quickly escorted away.

I stepped over to the remaining man. "Thank you!" I said sincerely.

He smiled. "No problem. You're obviously new here," he commented. He held out his hand. "I'm Ben," he introduced himself.

I shook his hand. "Scott." I looked around, and realized Brian was probably wondering where I was. I knew it was true when I saw Tom walking towards me, obviously sent on a search and rescue mission. I looked back at Ben. "Would you like to join me and my friends?" I asked.

Ben nodded. We started walking, picking up Tom as we did. "I'll explain at the table," I said to Tom as we walked back. He nodded.

I could see Brian was curious, and maybe a little jealous of my new companion. I set the drinks down and slid around to sit beside Brian, putting my arm around his shoulder. I turned his face towards me and kissed him…hard. When I pulled back he looked a little dazed and I laughed. "Brian, love, this is Ben," I said, introducing the new man. "Ben, this is my lover Brian, and our friends Marcus and Tom."

Ben held out his hand to Brian. "Nice to meet you," he said sincerely.

Ben sat down, so I decided to explain things. "Some guy hit on me at the bar. When I ignored him he tried to slip some X into the drinks. Ben noticed the guy, stopped him and turned him over to the bouncers," I said succinctly.

I heard Brian's gasp from beside me. "You okay Scott," he asked quietly.

I looked at him and stroked his cheek. "I'm great," I replied just as quietly.

"Thanks for the help," Brian said as he looked back over at Ben.

Ben smiled. "It's okay. It was pretty obvious Scott was new, cause everyone else knows better than to ever leave his drink unattended," he explained.

I nodded. "I know now. I've never been to a place quite like this," I admitted to him.

"So what do you do Ben?" Marcus asked.

Ben took a sip of his drink. "I work with computers." He stood up. "It was nice meeting all of you, but I have friends waiting. This is a fun place, but watch yourselves, okay?" he suggested. We watched him walk away. I was about to turn towards Brian, when Brian bumped me with his elbow and pointed. I looked over where Ben had walked. He was talking to Jason, our waiter from the restaurant. They glanced over at us, and Jason waved. Brian and I smiled and raised our glasses.

Then I did turn to Brian, pulling him close. "This has been a great birthday," I said into his ear. "But do you think we can turn this into a two man party, soon?"

Brian nibbled on my ear. "I think that can be arranged," he murmured.

We finished our drinks quickly then rose. Marcus and Tom followed. This time we left through the front doors. It was great to be out in the fresh air and I realized just how hot and smoky the club had been. The four of us walked to a nearby parking lot where Marcus and Tom had parked.
