Date: Tue, 06 Jul 1999 23:25:26 EDT From: My Angel Subject: My Angel, NSL: Getting to Know You This is fiction, not meant to imply anything about the people named. It's all fake. Please excuse any errors again, especially about NYC. Also, I'm gonna have to stop for a while since I'm going away Friday. And I'm not prejudiced. My Angel, NSL: Second Stage After the brief sexually-charged glance Nick and I shared, Soul, Nick, and I went upstairs to join the other guys. They were busy discussing where to visit first. "You know we gotta do the statue," Jeff said. "Yeah, but the Rockefeller Center is so much more interesting," Drew argued. "That's why we should save that for last. First, let's go to the Twin Towers," Justin said. That was the basic outline of their debate. When we reached them, everyone decided to take a vote. Soul didn't vote since she had been to all the places at least twice already and they basically were just for tourists, which I still was. Justin won since me and Nick supported him and so we went downstairs to hail a cab. A couple raced by before we finally flagged one down. Then we realized we had a problem - there were 6 people and 4 seats max. It was decided that Soul would sit on Jeff's lap in the front seat and the rest of us would squeeze in the back. Thankfully, I wasn't as built as Nick or Drew and we weren't as crowded. Although it turned me on and made my cock harder than rock, it was still uncomfortable and it was a relief when finally arrived at our destination. Taking Soul's advice, we went into the left building and bought tickets to go up to the observatory deck. The line was a long one and we waited for about two hours until we finally got into the elevator, which was just more crowding. I could feel someone's hand on my ass and someone else's on my back, while yet another person was breathing down my back. What a claustrophobic experience and good as it felt with so many hands touching me, I was glad to finally get off. I felt like a little kid as I ran to stand outside and look down at the world through the 25 cent binoculars. Soul was the only one taking her time to get here while us 5 guys shared 2 binoculars, admiring the view of the Hudson River. Finally, bored with the scene, Nick and Drew left to walk around the outside of the square building, only to come back to us, reporting nothing interesting. By this time, it was 5:30, so I went in to get a snack, finding the prices ridiculously high. Nonetheless, with no other options, I bought Nachos and shared it with everyone. As soon as we finished, we boarded the elevator to go back down. While in the elevator, we talked it over and decided to go to the Statue next. Also, this time, instead of taking a taxi and being comfortable, but turned on (well, at least me), we would go by Subway. being comfortable, but not turned on. It was so hot underground and we got lost once, looking for the train that would take us closest. Eventually, it was found and we got on, the AC hitting and beginning the cool down immediately. Riding in our car was a black wearing the typical baggy pants and Fubu shirt, a blind beggar rattling his can full of small change nobody wanted, a fat Hispanic woman with 5 shopping bags surrounding her, and a Chinese woman with her child that was peeking at us from behind it's mother. I settled myself in for a long ride, sitting by the map so I could have something to look at. The Chinese woman was scolding her kid and commanding him to get back in his seat, but the child wouldn't listen. He glanced at me again and I smiled, causing him to shy away. I just looked away, studying the subway map. Drew and Soul were talking about something, Jeff and Justin were debating again, while Nick just sat quietly next to me. I decided that it was as good a time as any to strike up a conversation with him, so I thought of a question I could ask him. Once again, my mouth got a head start on my brain. "That beggar and black guy look scary," I blurted out. "Huh?" Nick asked, looking at me bug-eyed. "Sorry, just a random comment. Wanted to get something started." "Oh, naw it ok. Besides, you already got something started when you went up to the studio and screamed after Carson announced our debut." "Oh god, don't remind me about that. I can't believe I did that. Actually, I can't believe noone else cheered. It was and is such a feat." "Yeah I guess. You seem to do that a lot though. Talk before you think." "Umm...bad habit?" He chuckled, saying, "It happens to the best of us. Hey, what kind of vigorous testing was Carson talking about?" "Huh? When?" "You know, he said something like, 'And they went through vigorous testing to get up here.'" "Ohhhh, I remember now. Well, mostly, they just asked trivial questions that any hardcore fan would know." "Oh? How are you a hardcore fan?" I was taken back by the question, but recovered, answering, "Umm..well, I check out a lotta websites that are about you guys for any new info, I tape everything you appear on, I got posters decorating my little place I like to call home, I listen to your CD nonstop, ummm...I think there's some other stuff too. Just can't remember it right now." "Whoa, looks like we got a crazy over here," he said, laughing. "I'm just kidding. Actually, I'm happy to know we got such a loyal fan. What songs you like on the CD?" "Well, I listen to tracks 4, 6, 7, 8, 12, and 13. My favorites would have to be 4, 6, and 13." "Refresh my memory. Which songs are those?" "I Do, Still, and She's Out of My Life." "I can understand the first two, but what about the last one? Sad songs aren't usually the ones people like." "Eh, I'm not people. I guess the song just represents me, so it really gets through to me." "Oh, that's cool then. You just had a bad breakup with some girl?" "Sorta, but not really. For one thing, it...wasn't...a girl. Then for another, it wasn't really a breakup. I just had to deal with not being able to love someone. It's complicated and I really don't want to discuss it right now." "That's no prob. It wasn't a girl? Then what was it? An animal?" "No...ummm...a guy." "Oh," he said bluntly. "Duh," he added, in the same manner. "You got a thing against gays or something?" I asked. "No, thankfully not. That would be a disaster. I was just surprised." "Oh, OK. Why would you hating gays be a disaster?" "It's complicated and I really don't want to discuss it right now." "Hey, pulling a Soul on me. She always returns what I say back at me. Piss me off sometimes." "Yeah, well, looks like I ain't the only one pulling a Soul. She and Drew seem to have hit it off fantastically. From the way she's dressed, I'm guessing she's...a bit..." "...slutty," I finished for him. He laughed again. "Yeah, that's the word. I just didn't wanna say it cus I ain't friends with her." "Well, like she would say, 'This is New York, who cares?' Besides, that's how all girls dress nowadays. A little from the sex side, a little from the bitch side. The perfect combo to attract any unsuspecting, horny, straight man." He laughed and I joined in this time. "Well, then my bro is the perfect target. He doesn't get it a lot, and I know his hand is often busy on late nights." This time, I laughed alone. It felt so great just talking to Nick and knowing he felt comfortable enough with me to talk about jerking off in our first real conversation. "Hey, I got a question for you. Actually two," Nick said suddenly. "Shoot." "First, who do you think is the best singer? Second, who do you think is the hottest?" "Those are no-brainers. You for all of the above. You've got such a sweet voice, that's even better when you're talking, and you seem to be able to hit any note, high or low. Then, you've got the kind of body I adore and want to hold me on those long, cold, nights." "Whoa, nice description there. Thanks though." "Sorry about that. I know gay men can be intimidating sometimes too straight men." He paused, seeming to think over something in his head. Finally, he made a choice and said, "Well, first, it didn't make me uncomfortable. Actually, was very flattering to know. Secondly, you're not intimidating because I'm...gay, too." I could feel my jaw just dropping all the way down to the floor, shock and happiness hitting me simultaneously. "You, you, did not just say, say that. Stop tea-, tea-, sing me," I stuttered out. "Nope. No joke. You could ask any of my group. They all know and are cool with it." "Wow, this is the best dream I've ever had. Don't ever wake me up! I can't believe you trust me enough to share this deep, career-shattering secret with me!" I started to babble, something I do when I get nervous. "Whoa, slow down. Watch it, you're gonna bite your tongue. Now, take a deep breath before you start again. I did make the right choice in choosing to tell you right?" "Oh yeah," trying to get it sound as sexy as possible. "Definitely." "Hey, is it just me or are you trying to get in my pants?" "It must be you. I mean really, what gay guy can resist." He blushed. "Thanks." "My pleasure. So you think I have a chance with you?" "Direct. I like that. Well, I didn't just let you know my secret for my health." "Actually, I've heard sperm has health benefits," I said, grinning ear to ear. "Ooh, a smart one." "Eh, you pick up these things." "You pick them up? Where have you been?" he asked, laughing. I joined in and we continued to converse about other topics, ranging from all the forms of entertainment to family relationships, as well as past romantic ones. I was so content and absorbed in just sitting there talking with him, it took Soul three tries to tell me we had arrived. "God, you two were going at it like 15 year old girls at a sleepover," she remarked as we walked off. "Whatever," I said in my best imitation of a valley girl. "Besides," I went on in my normal voice, "you and Drew seemed to be getting it together pretty good, too." "Eh...maybe for a one night stand. I'm really more into Jeff, but Drew's so fun to talk to." "Yeah, as if talking's what matters to you." "Shut up!" she said, slapping my arm. "Ooh, that really hurt. I'm gonna cry." She threw me a fake glare and said icily, "I take Tae Kwon Doe, you know. It builds muscles." "Yeah, right. And I'm Bruce Lee." She punched me on my arm. "There! See?" "Hey, you're right. You pack a pretty good punch." "Hey, I live in NYC. A cute face and big boobs ain't gonna get me by that far." I laughed, "OK, glad to know you can take care of yourself. Now cmon, let's hurry up. The guys are ditching us." "Oh, so you're already on a, "the guys" basis with them?" she asked teasingly. "Shut up and move." We ran to catch up, an easy task. The rest of the walk was done in silence, but a comfortable silence. Finally, we reached the ticket window and boarded the ferry that was taking us to Liberty Island. Taking a seat in the top deck, I scanned my surroundings. The statue loooked so proud, standing there holding the torch. I closed my eyes and imagined what it was like to have been an immigrant coming in, seeing this green thing sticking up out of the ground. I felt someone settle in next to me and I openned my eyes. "Hey, tired?" Justin asked me. "Hey, naw, I'm just thinking." "Anything profound?" "Eh, pretty close. I was pretending I was an immigrant." "Oh, that's cool. So, how's life?" "It's good. Been better since I met you guys though." "Quit sucking up. I hate that." "Sorry. But really, it's true. I'm so happy to finally meet the guy I fantasize about in every dream." "Who? Nick?" "Good guess. I can't get past that body of his, it's just so damn sexy." "Yeah, like most people." "Sorry, I shouldn't talk about Nick while with you. So, how's your life?" "Nah, it's OK. My life's good. Hectic, but hey, it comes with the job. The privileges and perks overpower the negative stuff, so it's all good." "Cool. Hey, I always wanted to ask you. How come sometimes you have brown hair, and other times you got white-blond?" "Oh, well, most of the time, that white-blond is only for videos and sometimes, special appearances on TV. The brown is just my natural hair color." "Well, sorry to be the one to say this, but you look bad with the hair and mustache/goatee mixed colors." He laughed saying, "No, it's OK. The other guys have said the same thing actually. But I like it, it's my hair, so I figure, so what?" "That's a good attitude to carry in life. Most things are too trivial to care about much." "Yeah, but there are so many more things to cherish." Justin agreed, his eyes giving a distant look. "Is something wrong? We didn't hit a bad spot did we?" "Huh? No, no. Sorry about that." "OK," I said, but instead, I made a mental note to ask one of the others if something was wrong with Justin. By this time, we reached the island and got up from our seats to get off. I timed it so I got off with Nick and we walked together to the base. "Getting to know the guys?" Nick asked me, glancing over. "Yeah, it's been good so far. 2 down, 2 to go." "Then why you walking next to me? Jeff looks pretty lonely since Soul is still hanging on to Drew." "Yeah, you're right. I guess I'll just have to ditch you." "Oh no. My world's fallen," he said, feigning a sad look. "Shut up," I said smiling and walking back towards Jeff. "Hiya, how you doing?" "Hi. I'm peachy, you?" "Same. So, first timer?" "In NYC or on this island?" "Both." "Then yes to both. It's been great so far. I love sightseeing in the places we go on tours. I just regret not bringing a camera." "Well, why didn't you say something before? Soul's got one. Plus, there are a lotta places to buy disposables. This island for example, thrives on tourism and disposable cameras are good money." "Yeah, I just hate using them. Hopefully, Soul will wanna use hers." "Are you kidding? For a chance to take a picture of you four? She'd use all her film just to capture one picture." He smiled a small smile, "Oh." "What's wrong? Oh wait, you think we're just using you or something?" "Well...sorta...it's crossed my mind..." "First, lemme remind you, you guys invited us to come along, and second, we're not like that. I know for sure that I would never abuse a relationship with some celebrity. You guys must get it enough, don't need to get it from me, too." "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." "Good. So, ready for that climb to the itty-bitty space in the mind of the tallest woman on Earth?" "Itty-bitty? I don't think anyone's used that word since...never." "Shut up, it just came to mind and like I've proven, I speak my mind." "Yeah, I still can't believe you cheered like that." "Hey, I thought it was a good thing." "It was. I just still can't believe you cheered. Should've gotten a pic of your face when we all laughed at you." "OK, new subject time. Let's talk about you." "Sure, what do you wanna know?" "Ummm...let's go for something deep. What's your family like? What do you do for fun? Any fears? What would be the best way to scare you?" "Whoa, slow down. Let's take the first one first." "Wow, your intelligence just dazzles me." "Yeah, I surprise myself sometimes, too." By this time, we had reached the base and the line formed to get in. While waiting, Jeff answered all my questions and asked some of his own; in fact, I got to know him better than Nick. Jeff was just so fun to talk to, a little tight sometimes, but fun nonetheless. After about an hour we finally got inside the building and started climbing the stairs, walking in single file because of the narrowness. I positioned myself to walk behind Nick, so as we went up the spiral staircase, in front of my face was his beautiful ass. It was so tempting to just reach out and squeeze it, but I decided to control myself. Eventually, we entered the crown of the statue. "Oh my god, you were right when you said this is small." "Wait, you think I lied?" "Uhhh...no...I'm just agreeing with you?" "OK, whatever," I said, laughing. Jeff looked relieved and everyone lined up at the glass windows, admiring the ocean far below and checking out the ships coming into harbor. Soul took some pictures and we asked other people to take a group picture of the 6 of us. I made sure I was standing next to Nick and putting my arm around him like an old buddy. Just being able to touch the guy sent jolts of electricity through my body, instantly forming a hardon. After about five pictures, I was blind from the flash and decided that I wanted to go to the torch, but it was closed, so we had no choice but to descend. This time, I walked in front of Nick, "accidentally" stopping every now and then. He always bumped into me, and I could tell that he knew I was doing it on purpose. Actually, he made a few attempts of his own to touch me and our flirting was extremely obvious. While exiting the base, I said, "Hey, you know what? You guys haven't been noticed at all today. No mobs, no screaming girls, no nothing." "Yeah, you're right. Thank God though. It's so annoying," Drew said. "Especially since you got one right next to you," I said. Drew blushed deeply and Soul just shot me another fake death look. We got on the ferry to go back to New York and this time, I sat myself down next to Drew, preparing for my last interview. "Make me last huh?" "What?" I asked, bewildered. "Well, you've already talked to Nick, Justin, and Jeff. Looks like I'm the only one left." "Whoa, very observant." "Yeah, I know," he said, grinning. "Really though, Nick told me." "Oh...oh...ohhhhh...ass. It's bad to lie." He chuckled, "Sorry." "Naw, I'm joking, too. You got nothing to be sorry about." "OK." "So then, have you been preparing stuff to tell me?" "Nah. I knew you'd have ideas." "OK. Hmmm...what to talk about. I don't wanna find out the same things I did from the other guys. Let's try something new." "Sure. So...what?" "I'm thinking. You know what? I could ask questions like those surveys do." "What surveys?" "You know, the email ones asking questions like, 'What's your favorite color? Favorite number? Favorite actor?' etc." "Ummm...no I don't know." "Oh, yeah. You didn't have the internet back then. I used to get these surveys all the time. Anyway, lemme see if I can remember any interesting questions." I paused for a few seconds, then remembered a couple. "Boxers or briefs? Favorite quote? What would you do with 3 wishes? How about if you won the lottery?" "Boxers. Don't got one. Ummm...new car, preferably Jaguar, success forever, peace on Earth; after all, I can't be greedy. And the last question, I guess I'd give it all to charity." "Oh god, you're like the perfect person. You make me sick," I said, faking disgust. "Sorry, that's just how I am." "Then you shouldn't apologize for it. I was just joking." "OK. Any other stuff you can think of?" "Well, while I'm thinking, why don't you ask your own questions. You must have at least one by now right?" "Ummm...yeah, I got. It's kinda personal though." "No problem. Shoot." "OK...when'd you know you were gay?" "Wow, that just came out of nowhere. First, I still am gay, and second, I think when I was...10?" "That's pretty young. How could you have been sure?" "Actually, most people I talk to decided they were gay around the same age. I was sure mostly cus I got really turned on by the half naked guys I'd see on TV and not the stretching women on ESPN." "Oh...duh. That makes sense." "Anything else?" "Nope, I was just wondering about that." Suddenly, we felt a big bump and I flew forward onto the next bench, as did everyone else. "What the hell was that?" Soul asked, standing up, brushing herself off. "I think we crashed into the dock or something," Nick said. The PA system crackled to life and an announcement came on. "This is the Captain. Sorry about that everyone. We misjudged the distance and rammed into the dock by accident. If anyone is hurt, please go immediately to the front and we will take it from there. Thank you and sorry again." "Hmmm...this is a good time to fake injury and sue," I said. "Yeah, you're right. That's probably what's going through everyone else's mind," Justin said. "Whatever, let's get off. I don't want another accident," Soul said. We hurried off the ferry, stopping when we reached the ticket booth. "So," I said, "Rockefeller Center now?" "YEAH!" Drew shouted. "Whoa, excited huh?" I said. "Yeah," he said agian, only quieter this time. "Don't worry. Remember? I did the same thing. At least you don't have a camera in front of your face with the nation watching you." He laughed, "Yeah, I guess you're right." "Let's go by the subway again. Taxis are just too crowded and expensive," Nick said. "Yeah," Jeff chimed in. "Besides, I like the subway." Everyone looked at each other, making the decision unanimous and we walked back towards the subway we had come from.
