Date: Thu, 11 Mar 1999 18:50:25 -0500 From: JM Subject: Annoucement... ***** 1st Annual BSB & 'N Sync Story Awards ***** Hello everyone, I'm JM, author of the Brian & Justin series. I have read many good and interesting stories on Nifty lately. I've noticed great authors, authors that could improve and brillant authors. So I thought to myself, how can we honor these authors and get them known. It came to me, have an awards for their hard work and talent. So that's what I'm doing. I have come up with a list of 45 different categories to nominate authors and their work in. With the help of friends, I am trying to spread the word. This is what I need of you. I have the list of categories, but no nominees. I am giving ALL authors of BSB & N Sync stories (only) a chance to nominate your favorite BSB & N Sync stories. All you have to do is, nominate 4 different people, stories or whatever's asked in a category for each one. Then send me a copy of the nominations. After I have collected enough nominations, I will hold a vote for EVERYONE to vote in. After another week, I'll tally up the votes and post the winners somewhere. Here are the guidelines and the nomination categories: GUIDELINES.... *** PLEASE READ before sending in nominations. Any nominations done wrong will be rejected. So it is VERY important that you read these nomination guidlines... *** Qualifications: 1. To be able to nominate, you have to have a BSB or N Sync story on Nifty. Otherwise, I can't accept your nominations, just your votes. I want to give all authors a chance to nominate their favorite authors. That way it's a little more sincere. Nominating: 1. Make sure to fill in each category with a nominee. You can only nominate BSB and/or 'N Sync related material. 2. When you send in your ballot, please tell me your author name on Nifty and the name of your story. DO NOT send me the story. Most likely, I've seen it already. 3. You can nominate up to 4 people in a category. No more. If you choose to, you can nominate less. But no more then 4!!! 4. Please make sure to write down the name of the series and the author with each nomination. 5. I ask that you be honest with the nominations. Don't nominate someone because they're your friend or relation. Nominate them because their work has shown to really be good. Nominate someone who has kept your attention and who's work shines among the others. Filling in the Ballot: 1. At the beginning of the e-mail, give me your author name and the name of your storyline/story. 2. Next, attach the nomination ballot with your nominations on it. You can paste it onto the mail, attach it as a .doc, .html or a .txt. I can not accept anything but those four. 3. With each category, nominate up to 4 or less in the title category. Include the name of the story and the author so I can know where you got it from. You can nominate yourself, I have no problem with that. As long as authors don't get out of hand with it. 4. You can ONLY nominate stories or authors that are on the Nifty page. No other outside stories will be accepted. I'm sorry, but this is the only way I can be sure that the stories are real. 5. You can only nominate once. I won't accept more then one form from each author. 6. If there is any category that you DO NOT understand, don't be afraid to let me know. I'll fill you in on it. Categories: 1. Make sure to put the right information in the right category. 2. For each category with 'Best use of a Character', you can nominate any author's work. The series or storyline does not have to concentrate mainly on that character. For instance, if the category is 'Best use of Nick Carter', you can nominate JM for use due to the fact that the author uses the character in the series. It doesn't matter if the series does not include that characters name. So those categories are not limited to a series about that character. 3. When nomintaions are in, I will narrow each category down to 4 nominees, depending on who got the most votes. 4. For anything having to do with a 'series only' listing, you should know what that means. I will not except any material outside a series for that category. Same applies to a 'single story' category. 5. To be considered a series, the storyline must have at least 4 chapters. Otherwise, I'll just consider it a single story for now. Voting: 1. Anyone can vote for these awards. And you are allowed to vote up to three times, but don't send the same votes three times. Be creative and at least change some of your votes. 2. The vote will last a week and no further. Please try to send them in within that time period. 3. Only vote once in each category. 4. You CAN vote for yourself. There's no shame in having pride in your work. Finally, here's the ballot: 1. Best Plot (in a single story) 2. Best Plot (in a series) 3. Most Romantic Couple 4. Best Couple (in a single story) 5. Best Couple (in a series) 6. Best Chapter of a Story (series only) 7. Most Innovative Author 8. Most Dramtic Scene 9. Best Character in a Story (series only) 10. Best use of a Character 11. But I WILL NOT let anyone know who's winning when it comes to voting. It's no fun and not fair that way. Thanks for helping me and I appreciate... Sincerly yours, JM
