Robbie and Drew left their friends and saw that Guy Stephens was walking towards them with a young boy at his side. The boy had long brown hair that reached down to his shoulders and was wearing an unbuttoned long sleeve shirt, baggy blue jeans, and tennis shoes that were untied. The facial features were familiar, and the two cadets quickly realized that the boy had to be Mr. Stephens' son. "This is my son, Eric," Guy Stephens said. "The tall guy is Andrew Anderson, my quarterback and the other guy is Robert Mathews, my defensive back." Robbie didn't want to offend his coach, but he couldn't believe that the son of Guy Stephens would look like a young delinquent. He held out his hand to Eric and was pleased with the firm grip of the cute little dude. "My son just moved here from Chicago," Guy Stephens said to Robbie and Drew. "Eric's 11 and says he wants to be a manager for the football team. Could you two show him around the campus for me?" "The first rule you have to learn is not to call your dad an 'old man'", Robbie said to Eric. "He's been known to go postal, and cooked and ate the last two cadets who made that mistake!" Eric laughed and immediately knew he would like Robert Mathews. Seeing his father roll his eyes and turn away was all the feedback he needed. He grabbed Robbie's hand and pulled him towards the other cadets who were enjoying the sunshine and free time outside. "Don't let Robbie pollute his mind!" Guy said to Drew. "My ex-wife had custody of Eric until last month when she was arrested for drunk driving in Madison, Wisconsin. Protective Services went to her home and found a Methamphetamine Lab, and my lawyer was finally able to get the custody changed permanently. Eric has been in trouble with the law, but I hope we can rescue him. Will you please help me show him a different way to live?" "We'll do whatever we can," Drew said to his coach. "He's a cute little dude and it looks like he and Robbie are gonna be good buddies!" Eric was running around in the Quad trying to catch the football, but his pants kept falling down and tripping him. All of the cadets saw the "Looney Tunes" boxers that were revealed when Eric's jeans slipped down, and they all were surprised to find out that the boy was the son of their Athletic Director. "Don't you own a belt?" Robbie teased his new friend. "Either we find a piece of rope or you can throw those jeans away and play in those wild boxers!" Eric was thrilled that the older guys had included him in their informal games, and really enjoyed being with Robbie. He loved his father, but was still upset about the situation with his mother. He laughed when Robbie came up to him with a piece of heavy string and used it for a temporary belt to hold his pants up. After playing in the Quad for about an hour, Trip came up with his Little Brother, Mark Jenkins, and joined Robbie and Eric for the tour of the campus. Eric seemed more comfortable with the smaller guys than the big football players, and was friendly and full of energy. Robbie was enjoying the company of the young boy when he saw Guy Stephens walking towards them in the Quad. He noticed that Eric seemed uncomfortable around his father, and Robbie was confused. Guy Stephens was a great person, and Robbie had always been comfortable around him. "It's time for us to leave," Guy said to his son. "The cadets will be heading for supper soon, and we'll go out to eat with Sue (wife of Guy Stephens)." "Can I stay here with Robbie?" Eric asked his father. Guy Stephens had noticed that Eric wasn't adjusting to the relocation from Chicago, and seemed very uncomfortable around him and his wife, Sue. He had tried to talk to Eric, but the boy seemed afraid to open up. He and his wife were in the process of moving into a larger home, and hoped that Eric would get involved in the packing and decorating his new bedroom. "He's a great kid and won't be any bother," Robbie offered. "He could stay with me and even attend my classes and training sessions." "PLEASE?" Eric pleaded with his father. "Let me talk to Robbie for a minute," Guy said to Eric. "Something is really bothering Eric," Guy said in confidence to Robbie. "My wife and I have noticed the changes in his behavior, and we don't know what to do about it. He used to be very comfortable around us, but if I try to hug him, he tenses up and pulls away. I've contacted Dr. Mathis, and Eric has an appointment next week with George. Maybe you can help him adjust or find out what's bothering him if he spends more time with you." "If you drop off some clothes for him, he can stay for a few days," Robbie offered. "He seems comfortable with me, Tracker, Trip and Mark, but not with the big guys from the football team. Do you think someone has hurt him physically?" "That's what I'm afraid of," Guy admitted. "We haven't got the results of the complete physical that was ordered by Protective Services in Chicago, but I did learn that he had some significant bruises. I've asked Barry Howell to use his contacts to cut through the red tape to get the complete medical records." Robbie knew that Barry Howell was an expert attorney who had saved him from being expelled from the Academy. He told his coach that he would try and talk to Eric, but also told Mr. Stephens that he wouldn't divulge any information shared in confidence. Eric was elated when he learned that he could spend the rest of the week and weekend with Robbie. He jumped in the air and screamed his approval of the arrangements made between his father and Robbie Mathews. After supper, Robbie and Eric went to the storeroom in the Jefferson Dormitory to retrieve an air mattress and bedding. Eric was excited that he would be sleeping in the four-man room that Robbie shared with Tracker, Trip and Pat Leahy. He stuck to Robbie like glue, and loved being around the handsome cadets that were everywhere on the Campus. "We need to hit the showers before we go to bed," Robbie said to Eric. "Your dad dropped off plenty of clean clothes for you, so it shouldn't be a problem." Eric was terrified! He'd already seen the shower rooms and didn't want to undress in front of the older guys. "Do I have to shower?" Eric asked Robbie. Robbie was tuned in to Eric's emotions, and quickly realized that the boy was shaking with fear about showering in the regular facilities. He guessed that the boy hadn't started puberty and would be embarrassed to be nude around the mature teens. He quickly made a decision. "Grab your shower gear and we'll see if Mr. Chalmers will let you use his private shower," Robbie offered. He knew the Dorm Advisor had allowed other visitors to use his private bathroom, and didn't want to embarrass Eric Stephens. The relief he saw on Eric's face was all the justification he needed for making the unusual request. David Chalmers was happy to meet the son of Guy Stephens, and quickly agreed to give the boy some privacy by using his bathroom. In addition to being a History teacher, he lived in the Jefferson Dormitory and provided adult supervision for the second floor cadets. The Academy had hired many unmarried male teachers who needed a place to live, and the advisors were provided with furnished apartments as part of their compensation. Robbie had showered and was wearing only boxers and a T-Shirt when he returned to Mr. Chalmers' apartment to get Eric. He chatted with the advisor while he waited for Eric, and could hear a hair dryer running in the bathroom. "I don't need a hair dryer!" Robbie said to Eric after the boy came out of the bathroom. "You hair's about the same length that Tracker's was when he started here last year." "My dad doesn't like long hair," Eric said. "He said he was gonna start calling me 'Erica' if I don't get it cut!" "It looks good to me," Robbie admitted. Eric had light brown hair that reached his shoulders, but the long hair looked clean and neat, and was typical for young boys in Michigan. Eric was excited about spending some time on the Campus, and was surprised that the cadets walked around nude or only wearing their underwear. He was trying to be discrete about checking out the "equipment" of the older boys, and didn't realize that Robbie had noticed his wandering eyes. After "Lights Out" the room was quiet except for the gentle snoring of the four cadets. Eric couldn't fall asleep. His mind was filled with troubling thoughts about his mother and what had happened to him in Chicago. He tried to push the thoughts out of his head, but he couldn't fall asleep. Robbie was asleep when he felt Tracker gently shaking him awake. At first he was pissed that his friend was disturbing his sleep, but when he finally woke up he could hear Eric softly sobbing. The moonlight allowed him to see Tracker and motioned for his buddy to be quiet. Robbie got out of his bunk and went over to the side of the air mattress where Eric was trying to hide his emotions by crying into his pillow. "Hey," Robbie said softly to Eric. "Do you need to talk about something?" "No! Leave me alone!" Eric sobbed. "You'd hate me!" "Let's go wash your face and get something to drink," Robbie offered. "We can sit in the Break Room for a few minutes until you calm down." Even after Eric had washed his face and joined Robbie in the Break Room, the young boy continued crying. Robbie saw Tracker, Trip and Pat outside the room and motioned them to stay away. He didn't like pushing his friends away, but he wanted to find out what was bothering Eric. "I know something is really bothering you and I want to help," Robbie said while hugging the small boy. "Whatever it is, I'm your friend and won't hate you." "My dad will kill me!" Eric sobbed. "He'll hate me and you will too!" After a while, Robbie was finally able to convince Eric that he wouldn't hate him, no matter what the boy said. When Eric finally opened up and bared his soul, Robbie was horrified. He tried to hide his feelings, but Eric saw Robbie's reaction and wailed so loud that David Chalmers came into the room along with Tracker, Trip and Pat. "Stay with him but don't ask him any questions," Robbie said to his three cadet buddies. "Mr. Chalmers, I need to use your phone for an emergency phone call," Robbie said to the Dorm Advisor. George Mathis was asleep when his emergency pager started beeping. When he saw the text message, he jumped out of bed and grabbed his cell phone. Ever since he had conducted his first session with Robbie Mathews, they had an agreement that the psychiatrist would respond to his pager, no matter what time of day the call was placed. "Dr. Mathis, I need you to come here to the Jefferson Dorm right away!" Robbie pleaded. "I don't want to tell you why over the phone, but this is an emergency about Eric Stephens. Please don't contact Mr. Stephens until after we talk. I'm begging you to come here right now!" Thirty minutes later, Dr. George Mathis arrived at the Jefferson Dormitory. He quickly ran up the steps and headed for the second floor Break Room. "When Robbie saw his psychiatrist outside the room, he asked his three cadet buddies to stay with Eric for a few minutes. "Thank you so much for coming!" Robbie said when he and Dr. Mathis were alone in the hallway. "Tell me why I had to get out of a warm bed to come here at 2:00 a.m.," George Mathis said. "I know that Mr. Stephens made an appointment for you to talk to Eric," Robbie said. "Eric needs your help right now! When he was living with his mother in Chicago, she let men have sex with him in exchange for drugs! HE'S BEEN RAPED!" Robbie broke down sobbing. He had tried not to react when Eric confided in him and didn't want the boy to see his true feelings. Now he was free to let the feelings out, and he was sobbing on the shoulder of his therapist. "Take him to my apartment," David Chalmers said to Dr. Mathis. "I'll stay here in case I'm needed. I don't know what's going on, but I can tell that it's very serious." "Thanks David," Dr. Mathis said. He took Robbie to the advisor's apartment and got him a glass of water and some tissues. He listened to the details of the child abuse, and knew that he had to take action. "Please talk to Eric," Robbie pleaded. "He's afraid that everyone will hate him for not fighting off his attackers. The person that he fears the most is his father. He knows that his dad was a SEAL and would have fought off the attacks, and now he thinks his dad will send him to a foster home. His mother caught him fooling around with his friend, Tommy, and then traded him for drugs." Dr. Mathis hugged Robbie and tried to calm him down. He had approval to begin therapy sessions with Eric Stephens, but never expected them to start like this. He asked for Robbie's help in getting Eric to talk about the rapes. Robbie asked his cadet buddies to leave the room so he could talk to Eric with Dr. Mathis. He was able to calm Eric down and convinced the boy to be honest with the psychiatrist. "Go get Drew and Keith," Tracker said to Trip. "We have to calm Robbie down!" Drew and Keith raced into the advisor's apartment to help Robbie calm down. When they heard what had happened to the son of Guy Stephens, they were both furious. Other cadets had heard the commotion in the dorm and tried to find out what was happening. "BACK TO BED! ALL OF YOU!" David Chalmers ordered. "Any cadet who doesn't leave right now will be on detention!" It was almost an hour later when Dr. Mathis came into the apartment with Eric Stephens. Eric ran to Robbie and sobbed on his shoulder. "We can't wait till morning to take action on this!" Dr. Mathis said to David Chalmers. "Wake up Barry Howell and Guy Stephens and get them here fast." "Stephens will go ballistic when he finds out what happened to his son," David Chalmers whispered to Dr. Mathis. "You and I won't be able to control him. When he learns that the bastards took pictures and movies of his son's rape, he'll drive to Chicago and kill the rapists." Drew had heard what Mr. Chalmers had whispered to Dr. Mathis and said, "Call Mr. Harmon too. Mr. Harmon is the Martial Arts Trainer, and he can stop Mr. Stephens. Keith and I will help him, but we might need Campus Security too." "I'll make the calls," David Chalmers said. "Make sure he knows that Eric is very upset, but don't tell him why," George Mathis advised. "I'll explain things to Guy when we have Barry here along with Derrick." Guy Stephens had a police escort when he arrived at the front gates of the George Washington Academy. He had been pulled over for speeding, but the Traverse City Police Officer quickly offered his help when he heard that there was an emergency at the Academy. George Mathis took Guy Stephens, Derrick Harmon, and Barry Howell to the Break Room and closed the door. He had already warned the two other men that Guy Stephens might become violent when he heard what had happened to his son, and chose his words carefully. He saw that Drew Anderson, Keith Phillips and David Chalmers were in the hallway, and hoped that their muscle wouldn't be needed. At first Guy Stephens couldn't believe what had happened to his son. His feelings changed to devastation and then to ANGER. "SIT DOWN!" Derrick Harmon ordered. "I'M GONNA FIND THOSE BASTARDS AND KILL THEM!" Guy Stephens screamed. "I'M GONNA KILL MY EX-WIFE TOO FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN!" "If I have to, I'll bust you up!" Derrick Harmon threatened. "You're my best friend, and I won't let you do something stupid! Think about Eric! He thinks that you'll hate him for being raped! Either you calm down or we'll tie you up until you do!" "I recorded the information that Eric provided," Barry Howell said after Guy Stephens calmed down. "I'm licensed to practice law in Michigan, but have some close friends in Chicago who know the right people to handle this in their jurisdiction. If we can catch the perpetrators with the digital photos or videotapes, they'll do hard time. Please let me handle this and don't turn into a vigilante." When Eric Stephens saw his father walk into the advisor's apartment, he tried to run away. He didn't want to face his father and tried to run past Robbie to hide. Robbie held Eric and comforted him. He waited until Eric stopped sobbing before carrying the boy to his father. He decided to leave the room and let the father and son talk in private, and was surprised to see the tears flowing down Mr. Stephens' face. He remembered Mr. Stephens telling him that SEALs cry, and now he knew that it was the truth. Robbie hugged Drew and filled him in on the details of what had happened to Eric Stephens. He was devastated, and didn't know what to do. "You were fantastic!" Drew said to his Little Brother. "You got Eric to open up and then took action! I'm proud of you!" "Those fucking doctors should have called the police when they did the physical on Eric!" Robbie yelled. "They could see the bruises, and he told me he was still bleeding from his butt when they examined him. He lied to the doctors, but they're supposed to be trained to look for child abuse!" "Barry Howell is the best lawyer in the country, and he'll make them pay!" Drew exclaimed. "Eric's gonna be messed up from this shit, and I'm worried about him. Stephens might still go after those bastards, and I don't blame him!" "Robbie can I talk to you for a minute?" Guy Stephens asked. Robbie could see that Eric was holding his father's hand, and he was relieved that Eric wasn't pulling away. "Let me ask him," Guy said to his son. Eric walked over to Trip and Tracker and hugged both of them. "I don't know how to thank you for getting Eric to tell us what was bothering him. I thought he was pissed at me for divorcing his mother and her recent arrest, but I was wrong. Eric's still upset. My wife and I are staying at a motel until the main furniture's moved to our new home, and I want to be close to Eric. He wants you to stay with him for a few days, and I'm asking you to do me a BIG favor and come back with us. I'll understand if you say 'No'." Are you staying at the Lone Star Motel or the Holiday Inn?" Robbie asked. "He knew that both of those motels were used by lovers wanting an inexpensive room for a fast fuck, and he wanted to tease his coach. "We're staying at the Sheraton, you smart ass!" Guy fired back. "I need to tell you something first," Robbie said. "I've always respected you, but after seeing how you comforted Eric, I know that I love you too. I'll grab some clothes and be back as fast as I can. I didn't finish my Geometry homework, and this will keep me out of trouble!" Guy Stephens was humbled by what Robbie had just said to him, and correctly guessed that the renegade cadet had the required homework completed. Robbie Mathews was always filled with surprises! It was 5:00 a.m. when Robbie, Guy and Eric arrived at the Sheraton Inn. Sue Stephens, Guy's wife, was anxiously waiting for them in the hotel lobby. Her husband had called and warned her not to ask any questions in front of Eric, but she still wanted to hug everyone. She had met Robbie during festivities at the Academy, and knew that he was a talented athlete and special cadet to her husband. When she found out that Robbie and Eric were coming to the motel, she had the motel manager book two adjoining rooms and everything was ready for the two boys. Robbie and Eric unpacked their clothes and decided to go to bed. They had been up for most of the night, and were exhausted. Their room had two double beds and they got into bed after using the toilet. "Robbie? Are you awake?" Eric asked softly. After hearing Robbie's affirmative answer he continued. "I'm still scared. Can I please sleep with you?" "Okay, but no farting!" Robbie teased. He thought that Eric would sleep on the far side of the bed, but he was wrong. "Look at this!" Guy Stephens said to his wife after he peeked into the adjoining room later that morning. The couple saw Robbie sleeping at the far side of one of the double beds with Eric cuddled up on Robbie's chest. He was relieved that Eric had slept after the ordeal and knew that both boys deserved some undisturbed privacy. He and his wife hadn't slept at all after the emergency call from the Academy. The stress of moving seemed insignificant after they talked about what Eric had experienced with his biological mother. Robbie woke up at noon and didn't want to move. He wanted Eric to sleep, but his bladder was demanding attention. He slowly got out of the bed and was glad that Eric didn't wake up. He went into the bathroom, used the toilet, and then decided to shower. While he was in the shower, Eric begged to use the toilet, and he quickly said "Yes". "WOW!" Eric said when Robbie stepped out of the shower. He was impressed with the muscles on the handsome cadet and the size of Robbie's "equipment". "Sorry", Eric said when he realized that Robbie had busted him. "All guys check out their friends to see if they measure up," Robbie said honestly. "I'm older than you are, and your equipment will grow." Robbie was dressed and waiting for Eric to get out of the bathroom so they could get something to eat. When Eric came out of the bathroom, Robbie saw for the first time that the young boy still had bruises on his back. It angered him that whoever did the physical for Protective Services in Chicago didn't report the abuse. When the boys left their room, they found a note on their door. "Go to the main desk for an envelope. Love, Dad & Sue." At the front desk, the boys were given an envelope with $50 inside along with another note to call Sue on her cell phone if they needed anything. "We can walk to the mall from here," Robbie offered. "The food court will have all kinds of food, so we should both be able to pick something we like." "I wish my dad left more money for us," Eric admitted. "I've got an American Express card," Robbie said. "We sure can't eat $50 worth of food in one meal, so what else do you need?" "It will sound stupid to you," Eric said. "Try me!" Robbie replied. He was surprised to hear that Eric wanted to get his hair cut and find some different clothes to wear. He quickly realized that Eric wanted to change his appearance to make a fresh start from the terrible events of Chicago. He knew that his uncle got the credit card bill and wouldn't object to paying for clothes for Guy Stephens' son. The two boys had a great time at the mall. Robbie helped Eric pick out a new hairstyle, Dockers slacks, Polo shirts and a new pair of shoes. The long hair that had reached Eric's shoulders was professionally styled and only reached the tops of his ears. Eric wore some of the new clothes, and was excited about having supper with his father and stepmother. "HOLY SHIT!" Guy Stephens said when he saw his son walk into the Sheraton Inn restaurant. The change in his son's appearance was startling! "Who's this boy, and where's my son?" "I think that means he likes the 'new look'," Robbie laughed. "I see we're having draft beer tonight! I like mine in a frozen glass!" Eric laughed at how his father reacted to the teasing from Robbie. He'd only known Robbie for a few days, but he loved having a temporary older brother. "We didn't leave you enough money to pay for a haircut and new clothes," Guy said. "Where'd you get the money?" "I stole purses from old ladies, and Robbie mugged two old men," Eric replied with a straight face. When he saw the reaction from his father, he burst into laughter. "You don't know how good it sounds to hear you laughing again," Sue said to her stepson. "Your father and I've been worried about how you were handling this awful mess, and we both like the 'new' Eric!" "I used my American Express card," Robbie said honestly. "You can try to pay Uncle Dave back, but I'll bet you a cold beer that he won't take a cent! We can use your cell phone to call him right now, and the waitress can put a glass in the freezer for me!" "God help me!" Guy exclaimed. "I picked the wrong cadet to be around my impressionable son!" "You didn't pick him, I did!" Eric replied. "He's been great to me, and I wanna be just like him!" The extended family had a great meal together. It was a big relief from the tension of the previous night, and everyone joked and teased during the entire meal. Robbie spent four days with Eric, and even helped him decorate his new room after picking out paint and wallpaper together. When it was time for Robbie to return to the Academy, Eric was upset. "I'll call you every day until you make some new friends," Robbie promised. He would miss the young boy, but wanted to get back to his classes and friends on the Campus. "I don't know how to thank you," Guy Stephens said when he got Robbie back to his dorm. "Eric's acting like old times, and it's all because you sacrificed your personal time to be with him." "I'm glad that he trusted me enough to tell me the truth," Robbie admitted. "He's a great kid, and I hope they catch the assholes who hurt him. I know that I'm not an adult, but I hope you'll let me know when they fry them." "Thanks, Robbie," Guy Stephens said while hugging the handsome cadet. "I'll keep you posted. If you need anything, just ask me." "I'd ask for that cold beer, but I'll settle for a note to my teachers," Robbie teased. "I missed some classes and assignments, but I'll get caught up fast." Robbie kept his promise, and called Eric every day from the Academy. He was happy to hear that Eric had met three boys his age in the new neighborhood, and had trouble finding the boy at home when he called. It was almost a week later when Robbie was called to Mr. Stephens' office. He couldn't remember any pranks that he had recently pulled, but still was concerned that he was in trouble. When he arrived at the Athletic Director's office, he saw Barry Howell and George Mathis waiting for him. "I wanted you to hear the news when I did," Guy said while closing the door. "Mr. Howell has done another fantastic job with his friends in Chicago." "We have some talented investigators in Chicago," Barry Howell began. "We uncovered a lot more than two pedophiles. There was a major pornography ring operating in Chicago that included over 20 people. Young boys and girls were often given mind-altering drugs and then forced to have sex with the men. Our investigators did the major legwork and then turned their evidence over to the FBI and Cook County police department. Two case workers from Protective Services were involved along with two medical doctors. The digital photos and movies were sold on the Internet from a site called 'PedoLand'. So far they've identified 12 boys and girls who were attacked, and the FBI has all of the perpetrators in custody. With the digital evidence, we're confident that none of the children will have to testify in court." Robbie was shocked that so many people were involved in the pornography ring, but was happy to hear they had been arrested. He wondered if Eric had been drugged, and if there would be any residual effects. "I really don't want you giving these details to the other cadets," Guy Stephens said to Robbie. "You can just tell them that the perpetrators have been arrested. The news will break today on television and in the newspapers, but they won't have the names of any of the children who were victims. I hope you realize that you were the one to break this case wide open! You got Eric to talk, and now I've got my son back!" "I know that kids fool around with their friends," Robbie began, "But being raped and filmed is horrible! I hope that Eric doesn't have lingering problems from this shit." "I'm meeting with Eric twice a week," George Mathis said. "He's finally realizing that he wasn't at fault and only blames the adults. His mother was involved in the drug distribution ring and also in profiting from the sale of the pornography. I'll be honest with him and will help him accept the truth." The meeting ended with Robbie asking for four passes to use the lake campgrounds. Guy Stephens would give Robbie anything that he asked for, but wondered why he wanted to visit the lake during the week. "Jake and Elwood just learned to swim and swam the length of the pool," Robbie said. "Tracker and I want them to swim in the lake to get ready for Hell Week." "I didn't know that they couldn't swim!" Guy replied. "I'll give you blanket passes for a week so you can get them ready. Just promise that you won't take them out to the island for any parties!" "I think I learned my lesson from the last time," Robbie said honestly. He remembered sneaking out of the campgrounds to party with some horny girls and how terrible his hangover was the next day.
