I finished nine chapters, but despite the initial good reviews, I grew dissatisfied. I had written myself into a corner. I put it aside and did other things, but the story stayed with me, and the back story developed more strongly. So I've decided to re-boot it. The story is re-structured. If you read the original, you will recognize some passages, but it's a different beast. This story will be broken into shorter chapters that follow individual characters, told from an omniscient viewpoint instead of a first person narrative. It will focus more on characters besides the Murphy family who are still very central, at least for a while. At first, the chapters will seem to have little to do with each other, but as they progress events will drive the characters together. A word on the sex. There will be tons of it, but not in every chapter. Some chapters will focus on the antagonists, a police unit attempting to track down a notorious pedophile. If you only want sex, look for the character names in the chapter headings. You will soon realize which chapters have little sex by the names of the characters. The moral center of this story will be centered around this central idea: What if sex was stripped of all the baggage, taboos, hangups and power plays and made a central and happy activity at the heart of the family? Would we be able to live in a world where casual sex was shared as affection, fun, and pleasure, and rid of trauma, pain, and abuse? I certainly know what I think is the answer to these questions, but I'd love to hear what you think. This is a big undertaking, and I will be posting this as a work in progress, so please be patient. I hope you like it. I appreciate feedback, critiques, and encouragement! Please write to me with your stories, ideas, confessions and thoughts. You may reach me at applesandpears@hushmail.com. N.B. Don't send me any attached files, I will delete any such mails. Text only. Words alone are still (mostly) legal. Naturally, this is all fiction, don't take it seriously, don't fuck your kids, etc., or anyone else's. We don't live in this world. If you have a hard time telling fantasy from reality, seek professional help. This story is dedicated to the excellent thinker, writer, and professor Guy Davenport.
