On the phone to him, Jean-Claude dictated, "I don't care if I'm interrupting you in the `middle of a sweet moment'! Tell him to pull his cock out of your ass and get over here!" Clicking the remote phone off, Jean-Claude readied himself for a trip to the city, thinking his business with Kevin might take more than an overnighter. Thinking of something, he snapped his fingers, then detoured to his phonebook. In a jiffy he was on the phone again. Outloud he pleads, "C'mon Tino, answer the phone! Answer the damn phone!" Connecting, he cuts into, "Tino... Jean-Claude Lomberious.... I know you haven't heard from me in awhile. Listen, got an emergency and need your help!" Then after hearing a wisecrack answer, Jean-Claude states, "Can you contain yourself Tino? I've got something real pressing here." Another pause, then cutting him off, "Do I sound like I'm in a joking mood?" With Tino on the other side of this call saying, `I'm listening', Jean-Claude tells, "Got a close friend who is in the hospital in the city." Another question, then, "New York City, you idiot! He happens to be in `your' hospital." After a pertinent question, now that Tino Filipidis has transformed from a jokester to his serious doctor mannerisms, he receives back from Jean-Claude, "No, he's not family." And after shot down, "I know hospital rules, Tino, but that's why I'm calling you, so you can `bend' them for me!" Even though he got laughter back through the receiver, Jean-Claude goes on to say, "His name is Kevin Halpenny." "Yes he's cute and `no', he's `not' your age Tino!" Jean-Claude responds to Dr. Filipidis' curiosity. Then, knowing he had piqued the doctors interest enough to do what's in question, Jean-Claude tells him, "Call me when you find out!" After business, Jean-Claude allowed Tino to return to his former self, asking stats on Kevin. After all, both could go on about their pressing business, Tino on his way to the nurse's station, Jean-Claude dumping clothes into a suitcase. Off the phone, he hears the doorbell ring four times consecutively. `Denny', he thinks in his mind. A signal devised years ago, it was to let Jean-Claude know `ordinary Joe' wasn't at the door, knowing Denny would walk in and how the four rings would alert him, in case Jean-Claude had been entertaining `company'. At twenty-eight, Jean-Claude deemed himself too old for the occasional hookup, his sights set on Mr. Right. However, over the past year his business has been soaking up a lot of his free time, until he met Kevin. It seemed he easily found the time to `be' with Kevin. Then rather his attention diverted to the `good times', all he could think of is Kevin lying in a hospital bed with a knife wound! "I'm here," Denny said, standing in the doorway. "Who's your friend?" Jean-Claude asks of the bearded guy standing behind Denny. Swiping past the man whom he had his barrel up to his balls in, the guy extends his hand as he addresses Jean-Claude, "AJ Vigilanti." When Jean-Claude went to reach for the extended hand, his attention was stolen by AJ's chest, the dark fur caught in the V-neck down to the second button opened. Not unnoticed, AJ asks, "You into bears, Jean-Claude?" Knowing Jean-Claude for what seemed centuries, Denny intervenes to say, "Um no, Jean-Claude isn't into the bear lifestyle, AJ." "Shame!" AJ replied, withdrawing his hand. Then taking the reins of the conversation, "So what business do you have with my cub, which would cause us to break up a hot... I mean interrupt.... you know?" "Yeah," Jean-Claude replies, keen on where AJ was headed with this, "so I gather, as per my initial conversation with Denny," he glances to his friend and then `the bear'. "I need Denny to drive me to the city, leave me off and then when I decide I'm ready to come back, pick us up." "Us?" AJ asks, rubbing his hand up and down his beefy belly. Taking a gander, Denny asks, "This about Kevin?" So, like Jean-Claude spelled out to Dr. Filipidis, he covers the same story. "Got a cousin who lives in the city, if you need a place to shack up?" AJ offers. All Jean-Claude could picture is an `AJ look-alike', the beard, hairy chest, a bit on the stout side and the same heavy-Italian accent. "I was thinking more like a hotel near...." "It's no problem for him." Then insistent, AJ goes over to the bed, picks up the opened the suitcase, folds it, "This your stuff you're takin'?" "Uh yes," Jean-Claude replies, looking to Denny. Denny shrugs his shoulders and smiles. Jeah-Claude rolls his eyes. Placing the folded suitcase under an arm, AJ proceeds to zip it up, stuffing clothes back into like a torn open stuffed animal. "Yeah, Tommaso will be glad to have the company. I'll phone him on the way." Out the door, it leaves Jean-Claude and Denny on one to one. "Where did you pick him up, may I inquire?" "He's really a nice guy Jean-Claude." "Hmm." Then with an angelic smile, Denny renders, "I think I'm falling for him, J-C." "The `bear'," Jean-Claude says. "You know I like hairy guys." "Hmm, no wonder you latched onto me!" "Yeah," Denny admits, "I did... do... liked feeling up your `rug'!" "Hmm..." "I hear from AJ his cousin is cute and looking for a man?" Maybe with hopes of still hooking up with Kevin, Jean-Claude changes subject, "Well, I've got to get a few things together here and..." "Um, I'll go help AJ pack." Leaving, it left Jean-Claude with question, which quickly dissolved upon not even considering AJ's offer, himself telling himself, "I'm checking into a hotel!" While out by the car, AJ's SUV, Denny is listening, singing to the song on the radio, "I kissed a boy and I liked it...." "Um, AJ, you want to cut that down a bit? The neighbors you know?" Jean-Claude says as he stuffs himself and his carry-on in the back seat. Really, it wasn't the neighbors he wanted to spare the noise but his own eardrums. Handing Denny a paper with details, the hospital and address, AJ snatches it out of Denny's hand. "Oh yeah," he replies, tossing the paper back to Denny. "No sweat. I know exactly where it is." As AJ `tried' to sing `I Kissed A Boy' decently, Denny again turned his head around to the back seat and smiled at Jean-Claude. After rolling his eyes, Denny asks, "You okay J-C?" And then, eyeing up the back seat, asks, "You okay J-C?" he copies Denny. "I'm fine AJ. Thanks," Jean-Claude returns. With final word, before he went back to his `singing', AJ summises, "'Cause if you're gonna be sick, I can pull over?" "I assure you I'm just dandy," Jean-Claude tries convincing him. As they zipped up the Garden State Parkway, Jean-Claude did feel a little queasy, but it wasn't anything he ate, rather his worry over Kevin. A small sketch of what happened, Kevin on the subway, confronting some thugs, then blacking out and waking up in the hospital, long drawn out scenarios flooded his mind. More stress flowing in his mind, Jean-Claude pictured some horrific pictures of how he would find Kevin in the hospital, dwelling on the most severe, Kevin in a coma, listless, his handsome face asleep. Snapping out of it he looked around the perimeter of the car and remarks, "We're here already?" "Where you been, J-C?" Denny asks as they zip through the tunnel. "Right here," he tells. Then throwing them off clue to his worry he fibs, "I guess I must've fallen asleep." Then further, "Good thing there's no traffic, huh?" Funny thing, AJ seemed as wise as Denny, replying, "Don't worry there J-C, your boyfriend is going to be fine and don't you worry about your luggage. You hop right out. Denny and me will take care of it and drop it off at my cousin's place." Jean-Claude was ready to protest when AJ pipes up with, "And no prob, man. I talked to Aldo and he's cool with you shacking up with him as long as you need to, J-C." Tired of negotiating, his against staying with even a relative of AJ's Jean-Claude gave in, "I suppose it could work out." "Sure it will. You'll see." AJ looked to Denny and added a smile. Jean-Claude sensed something was up and Denny was `in' on it! "Yep! As usual, AJ comes through!" AJ prided himself in picking the uncongested lane through the tunnel, the other bumper to bumper. "You're right on it this time, AJ!" Denny complemented. "Yeah," then a pat to Denny's knee, "thanks babe!" Thinking of Denny and not just himself, Jean-Claude came to the conclusion AJ wasn't all `that' bad! Then, dwelling on AJ, more pictures of his cousin filled his mind. The image sharpened, Jean-Claude's perception drawing a conclusion on Aldo's stature, maybe 5'9, rounded stomach, dark brown hair on his head, beard encasing the cheek bones. Wandering deeped below the identical bear's facade, Jean-Claude began unbuttoning Aldo's shirt, opening it, peering at the thick brown shaggy chest, stomach matching, a trail embedded as it flowed down and over Aldo's belly, bellyhole looking to be deep but not known for sure because of the thick forest covering it. "Here's your stop J-C!" AJ called out, recalling Jean-Claude back into reality. "Oh great," he called out, figiting with the handle. "The lock?" Denny reminds AJ. "Oh yeah! Sorry," he apologizes, a finger flicking the lock open. "You can leave that," he says of Jean-Claude's carryon. "Well.. okay. I guess it would be one thing less to worry about." And before he departs into the hospital, Denny yells, "Tell Kevin we hope he gets better quick, J-C!" "I will," he responded, hustling towards the hospital entrance. On the inside he met face to face with Tino. "That was quick!" the doctor, drenched in white, comments. Responding, Jean-Claude sums up, "Fast taxi driver." "Oh, you didn't drive yourself in?" Then he elaborated, telling of Denny and his new bear-friend. "Bear, eh?" Tino asked as he led Jean-Claude down the corridor. They stepped into the empty elevator. "Oh yeah," Jean-Claude replies, "I forgot you're into them too!" Reaching his hand out, Tino tries enveloping two fingers through the gaps in Jean-Claude's shirt buttons. Catching the hand in soft bondage around the wrist, Jean-Claude says, "Why don't we leave things as we left them Tino?" For once the Greek doctor wasn't his usual sizzling whit. "Sure J-C. However you want it," he replied, dropping his hand to his side. Seeing how dejected Tino was, Jean-Claude did feel some mixed feelings. He picked up Tino's chin, stared him in the eyes and said, "Even though `we' didn't work out, I'll always have a special place for you in my heart, Tino." He leaned over and gave him a quick pec on the cheek. More jovial, Tino replies, "You better cut that out or you'll make me have to channel my cock down my pants leg!" "Oh?" Jean-Claude says, bending forwards a little and glancing at Tino's crotch. "I don't see anything?" "I'm not `there' yet, lucky you!" When the carrier's door opened the two stepped out, thus ending the sweet reunion. "This way," Dr. Filipidis calls out, back to his professional manner. Noticing Jean-Claude taking a ounce of interest in an orderly passing by, him returning the smile, Tino informs him, "I `could' rearrange Richard's schedule to coincide with yours?" "Nice of you Tino, but... nah," he replied, still holding an interest for Kevin. "To each their own!" Tino replies, his hand on a door, readying to push it open. For a moment, Kevin eluded Jean-Claude's thoughts, him remembering one of Tino's favorite cliches, `to each their own'. His mind refocused when he saw Kevin in bed. "Heeeeeey! J-C! How's it going?" Kevin's voice rang out. Shocked maybe more that Kevin wasn't in `more' dire straits, Jean-Claude replies, "But I thought you were..." Reading his mind, Kevin chuckles, saying, "Yeah. It's like I figured til I woke up and found I could move about without a problem!" Tino throws his two cents in, "We've had quite a job keeping Kevin restrained to his bed. A joke, Jean-Claude infuses, "Try a pair of shackles?" "Nope!" Kevin replies in a chipper manner. "Don't need-em. I mean where can a guy get expert treatment, but right here!" Laughing it off, Jean-Claude wondered if Kevin had a lapse of memory, of some mornings when he awoke before the lad, offering up a tray of morning coffee and a plate of toast and jam. But Kevin caught himself and made things alright with Jean-Claude, saying, "Oh yeah, except at J-C's place." "Oh, so you're a victim of his spoiling too, huh?" "Um, Tino? You mind?" Jean-Claude said of his candid view. "It's okay J-C," Kevin told him. "Tino and I have shared a lot of common interests." "Oh," Jean-Claude replied, unassure of how much information was shared. "Alright if I come in?" came a weak voice from the head sticking through the opening in the door?" Tino right out replies, "I think Kevin can stand to have another visitor." Then opening the door, ushering the lad in, Tino amends, meaning to stir up Jean-Claude's feelings, "even though you're `not' family?" "I love you too, Tino," Jean-Claude replies. But more affixed on the young dude who entered, he watches him move from the doorway to Kevin's bed. "How are you feeling today Kevin?" the tanned youth asks in broken english. Trying to place the country, Jean-Claude suspends his country-search, more taking in the way the guy is holding Kevin's hand, rubbing the top of it with his other hand. Sensing the obvious, Kevin says, "This here is Emre, J-C." Very formal, Emre drops Kevin's hand to the bed, approaches Jean-Claude and addresses him with a hand to shake. "I am very pleased to meet you Jean-Claude." With mixed emotions, he took Emre's hand and shook it, thinking of Kevin's happiness, but also his own which translated to a bit of a letdown. "Likewise," Jean-Claude replied, "nice to meet you too." Then, from behind Emre, him blocking the view to the bed, Kevin leans forwards to announce, "I met Emre in the subway." >From his sketchy details, Jean-Claude responds, "Oh, where all `this' happened?" He glanced to Emre, figuring he was somehow involved in Kevin's bandaged up arm. "Kevin save my life!" Emre explained in a nutshell, the importance of the incident as it pertained to him. "Is that so?" Then approaching Kevin in the bed, "So we've got a hero on our hands here, huh?" Sensing it, Kevin missed their usual greeting, Jean-Claude's hug and kiss, just the way it was when he got off the train in Jersey. "Don't I get a hug?" "Um, I didn't want to hurt your arm any further," Jean-Claude replied with a shy twist to how he spoke it. "It's fine!" Kevin exclaimed. Moving it a bit he winced and complained, "Owwwwch!" "See?" Tino breaks his silence, "I told him J-C. He's not superman!" Reflecting a different picture in his mind, Jean-Claude gathered an inaudible thought of Kevin naked, in bed, him silently thinking, `Wanna bet?' Excusing himself, Jean-Claude opened up the bedside to include Emre. Foremost in his mind were questions. One, was Emre holding Kevin's hand out of caring? Two, if Emre was gay did Kevin know? and Three, if both knew each other shared the same thoughts of a sexual nature, how far was Kevin taking this? % Copyright 2009 T.
