The Countdown Part 8

Three-way Tie

Rolf

Four days

Four long excruciating days. I am more confident than ever that you will want me in your life. Yesterday I reaped the benefits of believing in someone, despite something he did that should have been a disqualifier. I believed in him because people make mistakes. I've made more than my share.

Francis looked at his computer screen. Was he being fair to Rolf? Was it realistic to dream about being back in Rolf's arms if he couldn't be forthright with him? Trusting his instincts, he continued to type.

Rolf, I haven't always been totally honest with you. I don't want to dump things on you in an email, and I know you want to meet Monday, but you know my cell number. Call me because I want to work through this. I believe in our love. I hope you trust me.

Francis

Francis swallowed hard and hit the send icon. He then filled his thermos with Rolf's French Roast, and headed to his garage.

********************

The mid-morning sky looked threatening as Rolf worked on some built-in benches for Kyle and Pete's backyard.  It was crunch-time for his large crew, and they were pulling it together, however a looming thunderstorm could set them back.

Rolf knew the area. He was confident enough of his knowledge of local weather and its topography, that what he was seeing was going to bypass them, but it still worried him.

What worried him the most was the email he printed out, and had in his back pocket. What possible secret did Francis have that he was holding onto? Was it a minor indiscretion or something more? Was it in line with Rolf's own indiscretion from last night?

"Uffda John! Oh fer crying out loud. Get off my back will ya."

The uncharacteristic outburst from Kate drew Rolf from his reflection.

"Oh jeeze Kate. Can't you take a joke? You know Rolf, a fella has to be on his best behavior around Kate."

"You betcha he does."

"You two sound like you've watched Fargo one too many times" Rolf finally noted.

"Watched it, we lived it, but without the wood-chipper. Remember my hometown isn't too far from Brainerd" John said smiling. "I'm just glad that you compare me to Fargo, and not Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. I get that all the time, people saying okely dokely do around me. Of course, our twins are more like Beavis and Butthead, than Ned's kids.

"Oh, I hear that and I can definitely see how they compare you to Ned with those glasses. But I've never seen or heard this side of you. You two don't have the accent normally."

"It comes out when she's mad. I like to make her mad at least once a day. You are the lucky one to see it today" John said, then laughed.

"Your bickering gives me hope. That is the one thing I miss about my man believe it or not. We really didn't bicker, but I even liked him when things weren't perfect."

"That is the test. You can coast along when things are easy. But when you have problems, that is where your trust is tested. Do you trust him?" Kate asked.

Rolf hesitated, thinking about the email in his pocket. "Kate, d'ya have a minute or two to lend an ear? John, do you mind if I steal your wife?"

"Do you really think my opinion matters in this situation? She's her own woman."

"Sure I got a minute for you, I have all the time in the world available to you. Let's go take a hike, I heard there is a creek out back."

"Just don't trust her anywhere near the wood-chipper" John added.

********************

"You do realize this is the last day don't you? Come tomorrow there's no turning back."

I stopped walking and plopped my butt on the bench near the County Courthouse. Pete joined me as we looked towards the bay. The Federal Building, St. Louis County Courthouse, and Duluth City Hall composed one of the best examples of the City Beautiful movement from the turn of the last century.  These civic buildings were arranged in a horseshoe fashion around a small park. Pete and I had just signed the needed paperwork to give part ownership of his property, to me.

"Look at this Pete. This is my hometown now. I can no longer claim Pequadna. This is it."

"That will always be your home. But I get ya. This is our home now. That is why tomorrow is important to me Kyle. This is about us."

Pete put his hand on the back of the bench, then pulled me closer. This public display of affection was still out of character for Pete, but I allowed it to happen.

We were silently admiring the view, caught up in separate daydreams when we heard a voice.

"Fancy meeting you here. You'll never guess what we just did."

We looked up, noticed the Captain and Jason.

"I don't know if you had heard or not, but Jason helped catch the guys who vandalized your truck. You won't have to worry about them tomorrow night."

I jumped off the bench and hugged Justin. He was taken aback, but spoke. "Thanks Kyle, glad to get those creeps off the street. They were out looking for someone to gay-bash believe it or not." He looked at both of us. "Sorry, I won't be able to attend your... uh, marriage tomorrow night. Not that you need me there any longer. Something came up with Ashley."

"I hope you'll still be there Captain" Pete said. "I don't think we'll ever be able to repay you for what you two have done."

"Oh I'll be there, and you will see both of us tonight at the ballfield. I hope you know that I will be cheering for both teams to win tonight. If we do, there will be a three-way-tie for first place."

"Yes, I know. But remember, just because you saved our asses this time by catching those guys, don't expect us to go easy on you the next time we play ball."

********************

Rolf and Kate found a fallen tree near the creek to utilize as a bench. "You first m'lady" he said, extending his hand towards the makeshift bench.

"There really is a gentleman hiding behind that gruff exterior isn't there?"

"You know what they say about judging a book by the cover. But we know how that turns out."

Kate patted the tree. "Sit Rolf, join me, tell me what's up."

"It's this." Rolf pulled the email from his pocket. "Sorry `bout the butt sweat" he said while he unfolded it. "Maybe I should read it to you."

"In my profession you see much worse than butt sweat, give it here." Kate almost ripped the email from Rolf's fingers. She read it quickly, looked at the creek then spoke. "So what's keeping you from calling him? Or have you done that already?"

"It's a book and cover thing again. I look like I am in charge but stuff like this ties me in knots inside. I'm usually the most positive man on earth, but I expect the worst when it comes to Francis."

"What is the worst that you expect? What could be so bad that you'd question your love? I have heard how you talk about him. What could be so bad?"

"I dunno. I think I would forgive him anything, up to and including if he cheated on me. As long as he was honest about it."

"Really? I am not sure what I would do if John cheated on me. But he hasn't given me any reason to question it. I am aware however, that he had a string of girlfriends when he was in college."

"Would you want to know, or just be blind to it if it happened?"

"I think I'd want to know. If he was honest with me, we'd work on things, but if he lied, I think it would be wood chipper time. So, Rolf, what do you have to lose? If you got your answers you'd probably be more focused on the backyard. Take the time, call him. I'm an experienced hiker, I can find my way back."

********************

"Look guys, I gotta take this call. See ya tomorrow night. Jason, I'll see you back at the station."

The Captain stepped away. "Hello... Is it okay if I call you back?"

"See ya FC. Kyle and I have a few errands to run. Thanks again Jason. You don't know how great it is to hear your news."

We watched as The Captain walked to his car. He then got in and pulled out his phone. We walked by as he hit the redial button. "C'mon Kyle, we have a jeweler we need to visit."

********************

"Rolf... It's great to hear your voice. I sure have missed it." Francis started his car and rolled down his window. He could see a line of dark clouds to the north.

"Yeah... same here. I think it's gonna pass us by. I hope we don't have a rainout tonight... Look Rolf, I didn't call you to talk about the weather. I just hope you are sitting. You're on a log in the woods? I should have known."

"Spit it out? I thought you liked when I swallowed... Oh damn it's great hearing that laugh. I think I miss that the most, oh, and your strong arms holding me after we made love."

Francis waited for a second. "Rolf, I screwed up while I was still seeing you, and after I tell you this, I wouldn't be surprised if you called off our date for Monday night. Now before you say anything, hear me out. I gotta say what I need to say, and I need you to listen. Rolf, I cheated on you. In my mind, I had a reason, but I got a blow job from someone, two guys in fact."

The silence on the other end of the line was overbearing. He finally heard "Go on."

"You probably won't believe me but it was part of something I was working on. I've played over the scenarios in my mind, and I am just lying to myself and to you."

Again, the silence got to Francis. He heard Rolf clear his throat. "If you're done, it's my turn."

********************

"I hope it fits. Believe me sirs, size 15 rings aren't all that common."

The jeweler opened the box, then presented the ring. It was a simple band, exactly as I expected it. "Sorry Kyle, your ring isn't here yet, it should be here tomorrow."

I was crestfallen. In my heart I knew it was only a symbol. Our marriage, unbinding as it was, was symbolic too. Then I looked at Pete and I realized I didn't need symbols, because I had him.

He dug into his pocket. "Maybe this'll do" he said, handing me a small box. "It was my dad's, the only thing of importance I have of his."

I opened it. The band was simple, very similar to the one I picked for him. "Don't worry, it will fit you Kyle. We already had it resized" the jeweler said.

"You didn't actually think I'd let you down did you Kyle?"

"Never Pete, let's pay the gentleman and head for lunch."

"Gentlemen, I need to ask one small favor. The rings need to be polished. I'll have your best man pick them up tomorrow if that is okay. Let me check your records. Yes, his name is Derek, isn't it? We have the contact info."

********************

"Jeez Kate, what did you do with Rolf? Hey guys, does Pete have a wood chipper that we have to worry about?"

"Never you mind. He's making an important phone call. He will be back when it's time. Speaking of time, isn't it lunchtime? John, why don't we treat the crew for lunch? Got any recommendations Justin?"

"We could order from the Italian Deli. It'll give you an idea of what to expect tomorrow night. Minus Pete's porketta of course."

"Oh snap, Pete's making porketta? He made that for Christmas, maybe I can get the recipe this time."

"If you place the order, Rolf and I can go pick it up when he gets back here." Kate said.

"Justin, is there a florist near the deli? Paul asked. "I just need something for these arrangements. If so I'll ride along."

"I think there is one close."

Rolf emerged from the woods. "Call in the order Paul, you're staying here. Kate and I need some more time. We'll take the PT."

"How did you survive the wood chipper Rolf?" John asked.

"You are one lucky gent," Rolf said. "That wife of yours is a savant when it comes to relationships."

"Because she deals with this idiot," John laughed, pointing at himself.

********************

Pete held me still for a minute, then pointed at the partially obscured sign. "Look, we're in Anal Park. Does that give you any ideas?"

"God, you're such a ten-year-old at times." Canal Park was teeming with tourists who were there early for the Memorial Day weekend. We had walked from the jewelry store to Canal Park, just to experience it like any other couple would on their wedding week. A restaurant known for their Chicago style pizza was our destination, but we were going for pasta, salad, and their bread.

"Hey, aren't you Ivan the Mad Russian?"

Pete quickly got into character and posed. "Guilty" he growled. "Or at least I used to be" he said in his usual tone. He offered his hand to the middle-aged man. "My name's Pete, good to meet you. I hope you're liking Duluth and Canal Park."

"I'm Troy, this is my wife Sue. We love Duluth, come up here every Memorial Day weekend since it is close to our anniversary. Been doing it for years." He turned to me. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name. You're a big guy. Did you use to wrestle too?"

"Ha me? I only wrestled with my insecurities. I'm Kyle by the way." For a moment there I wanted to elaborate on my connection with Pete, but I avoided it. There was a plate of Pasta Puttanesca with my name on it mere yards away. I thought of a convenient lie. "If you excuse us, we are meeting friends for lunch. Enjoy your weekend, and congrats on your anniversary."

We shook hands once again before ducking into the restaurant.

********************

Kate and Rolf were about a mile away from the Pete and Kyles chalet when she finally spoke. "So..."

"So... he did cheat on me. Damn Kate, this is tougher than I thought. I was ready to take him back, no questions asked."

"And he was honest with you. Wasn't that one of the conditions you had when we talked earlier? What changed?"

"That was hypothetical, this is reality. This is the truth."

"What did you tell him after he admitted it?"

"That I still need time. That I still love him. Kate, that is the thing, I still love him. I may even love him more now. What would you do with John in the same situation?"

"You are asking me something that is very hypothetical. I don't know the answer. I can say this. I've studied a lot about sexuality, it's part of my job. Men and women think about it differently. Gay couples can often have open relationships that work for them. Is that what you want with your partner?"

"I know; I have played with couples before. I am not the person to condemn it, but I think I want my relationship with Francis to be just the two of us."

"Was this understood between you and Francis? Does he know about your history of playing as you say, with others? Have you been a saint yourself?"

Rolf laughed. "Saint Rolf and Saint Francis. Ha! You have a point there. I guess we have to set ground rules if we end up together."

"What if? I have heard enough about how you feel to know that you two should get back together. You two should set ground rules, and you two should work on loving each other. The word "if" should not apply when it comes to you and Francis. Whether either of you are a saint, or not."

"Kate, do you mind a detour? I'd love for you to see my home. There is something I think I need to tell you that very few of my friends know."

"I'm speechless Rolf. What an honor to share your home, and a secret with me."

********************

"I've said it before, but no turning back."

I was nibbling on the bread with herbed butter. "Why would I turn back?"

"Your career could change. Your family could need you. And then there is the matter of all of the men out there you could still have."

"You are right, my career could change, the business might still fail, but I have you to fall back on. If my family needs me, you will be there with me. And as far as the men, you are the man who covers all my bases. Besides, haven't we agreed to keep our options open for play down the line?"

"What do you think your family would say about that?"

I'm not sure I can answer that. I'm not even convinced I would need to answer it. But I think - no I know, they see the love we have for each other."

Pete got quiet. "Kyle, I know you love me, but of the other men, who has been the hottest, the most fun to play with. Who is the biggest fantasy?"

"Pete, you are all of the above. But if I must choose one for each category, let me think."

"Take your time. It's not like you are voting for President."

"First, I'd say hottest was Al, hands down. And you gotta admit that Rolf was fun to play with.

Pete's smile was enough, but his "Hell yeah" confirmed my vote.

"And fantasy... Pete, you know Mike is a fantasy. He has been since the day I met him."

"You know he still has the hall pass, that fantasy might be a reality."

"You'd agree to that even after we commit to each other?"

"We are committing our love for one another. I think that love is strong enough to share with a guy who we both think of as a fantasy."

"Wait, you have fantasized about Mike?"

"I have fantasized about Us and Mike. That is different."

********************

"Don't worry Rolf, this is our secret. However, I do believe that someday you'll need to come out of this closet, so to speak."

"Oh I know that Kate. I think that is the problem. Francis and I have the same issue. He has a job that keeps him closeted. I left the career that silenced me years ago, and yet it still influences me. Your brother-in-law Kyle says that he is more honest, than out. Maybe I need to be honest with everyone."

"Be honest with yourself first. I think that will help you figure this out with Francis. I only wish I could meet this man you love so much. I can see you light up when you talk about him, even when he hurts you."

"Well, you might want to know that I reconfirmed our date for Monday. Kate, I want him back in my arms so much. They tell you to forgive and forget, but I think I want to forgive and remember."

"Then you should do that. Remember how much your love for him, made you forgive him, even though what he did was painful. Rolf, I gotta tell you I love your house, but we should be going. We have a hungry gang back there that might not forgive us. Especially my two kids Beavis and Butthead."

********************

"FC, I think you should know that the Highway Patrolmen have nothing but good things to say about Jason and how he helped them. Personally, I am glad we caught the kids and we have that behind us."

"Thanks Chief. I just want to keep them locked up until after the wedding. Jason won't be able to be there now. If those punks make bail, and want to retaliate, it will just be Carl and me there officially."

"Have some squads near their homes on alert. I'll support you with that. Even if the Mayor doesn't."

Francis breathed in deeply. "About that Chief, can we speak off record? Remember when I tendered my resignation?"

"Yes FC I do, even though I would like to forget it."

"Well, here's the thing. I did it because I am in love with a..."

"Stop, I don't need to hear about your private life."

"The hell you don't. Dammit Chief, I know you say that my private life doesn't interfere with how I do my work, but I have a feeling it won't always be this way. I'm bi, and I have fallen in love with a man, a man I want to spend my life with. This isn't something I can keep on sweeping under the rug."

"And you think this is news to me? FC, I read between the lines weeks ago. From what I can see, being honest about yourself has made you an even better cop. I have supported you before, I will support you again."

"But what about the Mayor? He hasn't been the most supportive of the Gay community. I've seen the marquee of the church he attends. What was it the last time? "No one is ever lost on a straight path" Are you ready to go to bat for me with him in a situation where I am outed?"

"Listen, he won't always be Mayor and I bet you will outlast him. When I took my oath of office I swore to uphold the laws of this city, not the views of his church. If you do your job right, you shouldn't have to worry if you are gay, bi or trisexual." The Chief started to laugh. "Yeah I know, there is really no such thing as being tri-sexual. I think that is from an old joke where you would try anything. And if you tried bestiality I would have to lock you up."

"So you would really support me?"

"Support you? Look, across the bay in Superior they have a Liaison to the Gay community. If they can do it, why can't we? This area is ready even if a few homophobes aren't. Who is this guy anyway? I'd like to meet the man who makes you happy."

"He'll be at the ballfield tonight playing on a different team. You should stop by. I can point him out to you. I will warn you he isn't what you'd expect. Hell, he isn't the type of person I thought I'd end up with, but he is definitely the man I love."

"I'll take you up on that. I'll stop by after dinner. I'm meeting the new bank manager Russ down at the Steakhouse. Your softball game might be a handy excuse in case the guy is a bore."

********************

"I love your full belly babe. It's sexy on you."

I laid back in Pete's arms as he caressed my gut. "Yeah, it's the one thing I can't seem to lose even with all of our workouts. I guess I am lucky I have a man who doesn't mind it."

"Mind it? I love it, and everything about you. I'd ravish you right now if we didn't need to get packed. We have a busy night ahead of us. I want everything to be out of the way before the game, so we can come home and celebrate our win. We can have one last fuck before we tie the knot."

"It's gonna be great to have my family there for the game tonight. It will bring me back to the little league games we used to attend. I only hope I don't have to play."

"Why? The one time you played this year, you made a great catch. It would have been game winning except for the ump."

"Remember, my family wasn't there. I think I'll revert to my ineptitude on the field if they are there."

"Stop it Kyle, you are no longer that fifteen-year-old kid. I've told you that hundreds of times, you should know this by now. Flex those muscles Kyle."  Pete squeezed my biceps as I flexed them. "See, I am marrying a man, not a kid. And look at that boner. That is the dick of a man, my man in fact."

I looked at my tented boxer-briefs. "You gotta stop talking like this Pete or you are gonna make us late for the game."

"Oh we can't have that. Tell you what, you go pack, and I will grill us some steaks. You are gonna need a lot of protein for later because I have something planned for after the game."

"Should I leave anything unpacked and ready for tonight?"

"Everything we need is right here." Pete held me extra tight. His embrace told me what I needed to know.

********************

"Damn Bro, your jersey is fitting you a little too tight in the belly."

I wanted to give Paul one of my patented "If looks could kill" stare when he greeted us at the ballfield, but he was right. "Yep, at a bit too much pasta at lunch, and steak for dinner. Lucky for me, I don't play tonight."

"I wouldn't be so sure about that. Rolf threw his back out earlier. Kate did some work on it, but he still seems to be hobbling about." Paul chuckled then got close to my ear and whispered. "Damn, your team is hot. I'm usually not into bears, but look at the beef on that field..."

"And look at the beef that you came here with. Scott can measure up to any of them."

"I agree with you completely, but Paul and I play this game called "Yours."

"What is "Yours?" I am not sure I have heard that game before."

"Well we play it two ways. The usual way is that if we see someone that is disgusting, or unsavory, we say "Yours" which means that is your guy for the night. The second way is if we see someone who is totally hot, and his type or my type we say "Yours" just to let each other know that it is okay to look. Occasionally, we say "ours" and if the guy is up for it, we make it happen."

I couldn't argue since Pete and I were similarly open about our feelings. "So who is "Yours" tonight?"

"Scott gave me Mario, and I agree with him completely. I gave him Micah." Once again Paul got very close. "I wouldn't mind making that couple an "Ours" but I am not sure they would be open to it."

"From what I know, they aren't open to it, with anyone. But they are great to look at, aren't they?"

"What are you two talking about?" Scott asked as he approached us on the bench.

"Yours, Mine and Ours, and I am not referring to the movie" I joked.

Scott shook his head. "Lots of eye candy out there isn't there. Duke, you've known Paul long enough to know he's only joking." He then looked at Paul. "But sometimes you forget we're in mixed company, and my straight brothers and sisters aren't as aware."

Just then Rolf hobbled to the bench. He looked at me "Got a minute?" I nodded. "Alone?"

"Definitely, Paul and I were heading to the concession stand."

Scott stood, then pulled Paul of the bench. When they were far enough away Rolf whispered. "I found out today that my man cheated on me, but I want to take him back. Am I being foolish?"

"Rolf, tomorrow you are officiating the marriage of two men who are far from perfect.  Everyone here will be there to support us because we love one another. If you have that love, and it is strong enough, work with it to show him how much you love him. I just regret that I haven't met him."

"That's where you are wrong. You have met him, but we've had to be secret about it. I still don't know if I can be strong enough to live with that secret. Even if he is in my arms."

"Rolf, from what I have seen, your love is strong enough to tide you over `til he can be honest about himself, no matter the situation. You also know that Pete and I will be there for both of you, and we'll want to meet him sooner rather than later."

"I know, I know. Kyle, the game's about to start. Let's discuss this later. Tell you what, I will keep score while you watch with your family. With my back like it is, I don't expect to play."

As the team joined Rolf on the bench, I went to the stands to be with my family. I sat between John and my younger brother Terry, who was sitting by Al. Our friend Carl was sitting one row behind with his wife Rhonda and my two sisters. Though I missed doing my job of recording the balls, strikes etc., I enjoyed watching my team play while sitting with my two baseball playing brothers. It was the second time this week that I felt the presence of my dad there as we caught ourselves echoing his words and manners from the stands.

The first three innings found us up by two runs against the team that was in first place after recently beating the Police team. My brother Terry was impressed with the connection Jeff our shortstop had with Fred at first base. I didn't let on how deep their connection was, but Terry could tell it was almost intuitive.

Angelo's pitching wowed John, and so did Charlie's catching abilities. The only weakness he could see was Justin in the field. "He has to stop being a Spike" he said. I remembered that "Spike" is how my brother would refer to his little league players who were too cocky. I had to laugh because it was how I described Justin early in the season, but had no reason to since. Somehow tonight, his Spike persona was coming through.

The Police Captain also noticed our dilemma. I felt a tap on my shoulder, so I looked back. FC was there with Carl. "What's up with your buddy at second? He's gotta rely on his team mates. He should know better than that."

John looked at the Captain. "If it were my team, I'd pull him right now."

"I would to, but unfortunately their roster isn't too deep. You've got Rolf over there, but he looks like he is hurting, and then there is Kyle here."

"Kyle? Play softball? Forget that then. We'll have to make do with the Spike out there."

Wait a second buddy, I don't know who you are, but your friend Kyle made a clutch catch against us earlier this year, and then threw the ball hard for a sure fire out. If it wasn't for the Ump, he would have won the game for his team, but the bad call gave the game to us. That is why I want his team to beat this team, so when we play later, it is fair and square."

John turned to me. "You did that? Really? Were you holding out on us during all those whiffle ball games we played in the back yard?"

Before I could speak FC answered for me. "I take it that Kyle's your brother. Sorry if I got a bit overheated there, but I am a little over protective of Kyle and Pete with all they have gone through lately. What with the vandalism and threats..."

"Vandalism and threats? What's going on Kyle?" Terry asked.

"Oh, nothing big, Terry. Just some kids who sprayed graffiti on Pete's truck. Just found out that the police have caught them, so nothing to worry about."

"He downplays it guys" Carl added. "He didn't even want me to share it with the family or Rhonda."

"That is because she is family too. I just want tomorrow night to go off without a hitch. I didn't want this to overshadow why everyone is here." I noticed the inning was ending, so I took the chance to change the subject. "Will you guys give me a second to go talk to Gino about our Spike?"

Before I got the answer, I ducked away. I sat between Gino and Rolf while the guys came off the field. Justin was on deck, so while he warmed up, I voiced my concern to Gino.

"Yeah I noticed it too, but we don't have that many options, I know you'd rather spend time with your family than play." Gino had me there. I wasn't keen on being on the spot, especially in front of my more talented brothers. However, I still wanted to win.

"If you find yourself in a spot, I will do my best."

I looked at the stands. The Captain was looking my way, at least I thought he was, so I waved. I looked to Rolf who was keeping score, but he looked distracted. "Do you need me to take over buddy?"

"No I got it, go back to your family."

********************

"What the fuck was that all about?"

As the Police Chief waited in his car he kept going over what happened at dinner. Unless he read the situation wrong, the new bank manager had just tried to pick him up. But the more he thought about it he knew that is exactly what was going on.

The situation wasn't subtle. Russ' hands stayed on his thighs too long as they talked about security in Downtown Duluth. Russ constantly wanted to top off his wine glass, even going so far as to say "Don't worry, you can call a cab, or sleep on my extra bed." Then there was the comment about his wife. "Our wives are out of town. What they don't know, won't hurt `em."

The Chief remained professional the whole time. He wasn't there to judge Russ, no matter how tempting it was. Instead he thought of his Captain FC whom he admired earlier in the day for his honesty regarding his relationship.

The Chief didn't want to get to Wheeler Field too early, so he sat with his car windows open, listening to the sounds of Canal Park. He saw Russ emerge from the hotel. He stood there, unaware that he was being watched.  A cab drove up and stopped. The driver exited, then opened the door for Russ. "Where will it be?"

"Take me to the sauna, maybe my barber will be there."

"And that is a good example of why I need to keep supporting FC, even if the Mayor doesn't like it," The Chief thought to himself.

********************

In the ensuing innings, the game tightened up. Justin was playing more like a full-fledged teammate, and less like a Spike. But a high pop fly to right field tripped him up. Derek called for it, but Justin kept after it, collided with Derek, stumbled and twisted his ankle. With that easy catch missed, the opponents went ahead by a run.

"Kyle, you're in" Gino yelled to me. "Mario, you're on second. Kyle, replace Mario in the outfield."

I was far from ready as I ran towards the outfield. Justin slowly hopped off the field, stopping only to toss me his glove. We had one out left, then one chance to get that run back. I took my place in the outfield, secretly hoping that my teammates to the right and left of me would help cover my deficiencies, but they both gave me a quick thumbs-up, and then took their stances.

I was relieved when the next at bat hit a pop fly to left field ending the opponents at bat. However, I knew that I was the third at bat. With my entire family in the stands, I had a feeling I was about to relive my whiffle ball legacy, instead of helping my team win.

Unfortunately, Fred and Mike both tried to be heroes by swinging for the fence, and missing wildly. Two outs, and I was the last hope to keep things alive. I was behind on the first two pitches and fouled the ball down the first baseline. Somehow in all the noise, I could pick out my brother John's voice "You got this Duke."

Our opponents shifted towards first to compensate for me. The third pitch was wide of the plate, as was the fourth and fifth. Mario was on deck, so I knew that they would avoid walking the potential tie run. Fans for both teams were yelling, and yet I heard only one voice distinctly "Go for the hole on third."  I expected the pitch to be down the center and that is exactly what I got.  With the infield shifted, I hit the ball and it went right down the third baseline. I was safely on first.

Mario stood at the plate as I waited at first. Again my brother's voice cut through the clatter, but was joined as the rest of the family yelled "DUKE, DUKE, DUKE" repeatedly. I took a few steps off first as the pitcher waited. I worried that Mario would mistake the loud "DUKE" chant as boos, but he was concentrating on the pitcher, then the pitch.

With the loud "Thwack" I knew what had happened. I could see the ball traveling with velocity towards the left field fence. By the time I hit second base I knew that it was a homerun. I scored the tying run when I crossed home, then I waited for Mario to follow suit.

By this time the entire team, was there to mob us. Rolf and Justin hobbled off the bench to join in on the celebration. I looked up at the stands where my older brother John was there grinning, giving me a thumbs-up. I nodded then gestured for them to join me.

"Dad would be proud" John said as he joined us. He offered his hand, I pulled him into a hug.

"He has every right to be proud. You've got a good brother there John."

In the celebration I hadn't noticed that FC was a few yards away at the fence, watching us. "Thanks Captain, now your team has to seal the deal by winning your game."

"Are you guys gonna stay and watch us? The Police Chief might stop by. He wants to meet you and Pete."

"We can for a bit, we have a busy day tomorrow, but I am sure you know that" Pete added then looked at me. "Now where's my hug?"

I saw Kate sitting by Rolf on the bench. Their conversation looked intimate, so I left them alone. We had about 15 minutes to clean up the field before the next game. I could see that the Police team was playing the team that the World's Greatest Dad played for. Paul saw me looking at him so he came in close and whispered "Yours."

"Long story Paul, but been there, done him."

"Oh you dog. I bet Scott would agree to that one being an "Ours."

"D'ya mean that shortstop out there with the great ass? Definitely, Paul. But you saw the ring" Scott joked.

I broke away as Scott and Paul shared their fantasy about the furry shortstop with the very capable ass. Pete and I helped Gino and Brent gather all the gear. Rolf was about to leave, but I convinced him to stay. "You realize you are batting a thousand in league play? I doubt anyone else can say that."

"Rolf I surprised my older brother, and helped my team win. That is all that matters to me."

"I wish I could say the same." Rolf was once again distant. I didn't want to pry, so I helped Gino carry the equipment to his truck.

"What's up with Rolf?" Gino finally asked as we were walking back.

"Man troubles I think. He'll fill us in when needed. He knows I am always there for him."

Just then a man stopped us. "You're Kyle, aren't you? Do you know what field the Police are playing on?"

"Yep Chief, follow me."

"How'd you know I was the Chief?"

"Even though I have been in the news a lot lately, reluctantly I might add, I see your face almost weekly."

"Yeah, that is one aspect of the job that I have never gotten used to. I understand your reluctance. Being in the news for no other reason than trying to live your life, just like anyone else might expect to."

When we got back to the field, I joined the rest of the family in the stands. They were staying around to watch Carl play, something we haven't done as a family for years. Rolf sat by Kate. I noticed the bond between them. It seemed like a longtime friendship, built on years of trust.

With our win in the bag, it was fun to watch a game with no drama involved. We were cheering for the Police team, because of Carl's involvement, and The Captain's support. Paul was the only one who appeared to support the opposition, mainly because of The World's Greatest Dad, and his ass.

The Chief spent most of the game at FC's side. I could sense the respect they had for each other. About two-thirds of the way through the game, the Police were comfortably ahead, so Pete and I took the opportunity to slip away early.

No one noticed us as far as we knew. We heard the metallic clunk of the field's lights as they turned on. The sky got progressively darker as we drove to Derek and Justin's Morgan Park home.

Pete pulled into the driveway. He looked over at me. "This is your last chance Kyle. Tomorrow at this time we will have said our vows. One last chance to turn back."

"No turning back for me, I am only moving ahead. I trust you, I trust our love."

"You trust me? Do you trust me completely?"

"Completely."

Pete yanked me. I fell into his arms where he kissed me. Then he reached into the back pocket of his coaches shorts and pulled out a handkerchief.

"Still trust me?" I nodded.

As Pete blindfolded me he filled me in. "I talked to the three men we discussed earlier, and they have agreed to give you a bachelor party worthy of a stud like you. Al will be first, followed by Rolf, then Mike is using his hall pass. One at a time they will be giving you pleasure, but I get to finish you off. Still trust me?"

Again I nodded. "Okay, follow me." Pete opened his door, then went around to my side to guide me out of the pickup and into the house. He led me upstairs to Derek and Justin's room. There he slowly undressed me, then laid me on the bed. "Still trust me?"

"Yes" I gulped. He took a soft cloth and tied it to my wrist, then the bedpost. In the darkness, I smiled.

"Like that huh? Still trust me?"

Without waiting for my approval, he quickly wrapped the other wrist, then tied it to the other bed post. Even with the blindfold, I could sense light in the room. He lowered the shades, and turned off the light. I could feel him pacing around the bed. "Al and Rolf are in charge; you do what they want. But when it is Mikes turn, I can tell he needs that dick of yours. Fuck him good, make him feel it."

Pete reached down, grabbed my hard dick. "Yeah you like that. Dontcha boy. You have my permission to give him your load, because the last man who has you tonight is me, and I am gonna fill that ass with my love. Got that Kyle? Still trust me?"

Pete twisted my dick as a squeaked out a final "Yes."

I heard him leave the room and close the door I heard footsteps downstairs, and muffled conversation. I was alone in the darkness for a few minutes when I finally heard what sounded like someone taking the stairs two at a time. The door burst open, and a familiar voice rasped out "Time for The Cruncher."

Each step made the pine flooring shake. "Damn I need some light," he barked. I heard the shade roll enough for him to say "Oooh, he's got you tied up just how I need you." Al's growls were reminiscent of his wrestling days, yet deeper, sexier.

I felt his weight as he joined me on the bed. Hands went on each side of my chest, knees on each side of my legs. I felt his goatee slowly comb over my chest as he got closer. Then his tongue started to lick my nipples. "Pete told me I can't make you cum, but I'm gonna bring you close boy." The grit in his voice caused my dick to leak. "Look at that tasty pre-cum, I need that boy."

The Cruncher quickly swallowed my dick. I felt his heft on my legs as he bobbed up and down on me. Although I liked having my hands tied, I wanted to rake my hands through the flat top that I had seen in the stands.

The Cruncher however, had no such restraints. I felt him move to one side and slowly lift my leg while he continued to suck me. "Leave your leg like that" he rasped. I felt his thick hand play with my balls, then slowly creep toward my ass.  He teased my hole for a moment, then took my dick out of his mouth, giving himself a chance to spit on his fingers. "Gotta open you up for Pete" he barked, then went back to sucking my cock.

Al's thick finger plumbed my butt while he sucked me expertly. It was followed by a second one that opened me, allowing him to prod my prostate. I knew from experience and Al's appreciative moans that I was producing copious pre-cum for the ex-pro wrestler.

I was getting close to cumming, and so was Al. "Damn I am so close to blowing all over you boy."

"Then do it." I demanded.

"Can't. Pete won't let me" he said, short of breath. With that he pulled his fingers out and jumped off the bed. The door slammed quickly. Again I heard him take the steps two at a time as he went downstairs, leaving me in the near-darkness of the room.

The wait this time was shorter. Rolf's ascension up the stairway was slow, owing possibly to his back pain.  He opened the door, then closed it. I heard him rest against the wall as he allowed his eyes to adjust to the light.

"Breathtaking, as always." The voice was unmistakable. "Tis an honor to take part in this rite. Something tells me you need a good rimming."

I felt every one of his 300 pounds join me on the bed. His strong yet gentle hands held my ankles together as he slowly lifted them, raising my ass as a result. "So beautiful. Work with me Kyle. M'back's doing better but I still have some pain" he said, almost whispering. Rolf held my legs back as he teased his beard up and down my crack. Each passing took him longer and left him gasping for breath.

Finally, his tongue made contact with my crack. His moans were appreciative. "Tastes so good Kyle m'man. Pete is the lucky one" he whispered. From that point on I only heard his moans as he continued to rim my butt expertly. I wished my hands were free so I could run my fingers through his full beard and feel that bald spot on his head. He was giving his all to chewing down, and I was helpless to show my appreciation.

My hands were tied, but my tongue wasn't. "Lick it Rolf. Open that hole and taste the butt that Pete's gonna fill." Rolf groaned as he skewered my rosebud with his tongue. One hand pushed back my legs further, the other kneaded my butt-cheek. As he raised my ass, he grunted, then removed his tongue from my hole.

I felt him shift on the bed, and thought for a second that he was going to fuck me, open me up for my man. He in fact did swab his dick over my crack, then darted down again to rim me one last time. He inhaled deeply. "God Kyle, I'd love ta fuck ya, but alas it isn't in the cards tonight. But I do have you warmed up for Mike."

"But is Mike warmed up for me? I plan to fuck that virgin ass. Before you send him up, make sure he is lubed and has some extra lube ready for me."

"Got it."

Rolf jumped off the bed with an ease despite his weight and back pain. The door opened and closed quietly, then I heard his soft steps down the stairs. I missed the details of the muffled conversation but they were soon silent.

After a few minutes of the silence, I heard the hesitant steps of another man. He hit the top landing, then stood in front of the door. After a short wait, he cleared his throat, and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

I sensed him entering, then closing the door. He sat on the edge near the foot of the bed. He moved slightly towards me, then hesitated once again. "I... I... I..."

"You don't know what you want Mike. I understand. Remember how you felt when you kissed me? That is what you're looking for when you make love to a man. It's okay. Go for it. Kiss my neck, I love that."

"Really?" Mike's voice was unexpectedly nervous. I had to change that.

"We're two men who are about to be very close Mike. I'm about to give you something your wife can't. Remember she gave you the hall pass because she knows that you need this. Did you bring the lube? Are you ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be I guess."

"There's no guessing Mike, no going back. Come on up here and kiss my neck while you lube my dick."

"But I've kissed you before. I've never tasted a man's cock."

"Go ahead Mike."

I felt him shift on the bed. He grabbed my dick gingerly. I could feel him stroke it softly. He took a thumb and spread my pre-cum over the head.

"Suck it Mike, you want it."

I felt his tongue first, then his mouth. "Mmmmm" he moaned. "Not bad buddy, I think I could get into this." He went back down on it.

"I'm getting into it Mike. You're a natural at it. Almost as good as your kissing."

"You liked that huh? That was good wasn't it? You almost made me cum. I probably would have if Pete hadn't stopped by."

"Pete's not here is he?"

"He's downstairs buddy."

"But we both have a hall pass; I get to fuck that ass of yours. Are you ready?"

"As I'll ever be. First I gotta lube that thick dick of yours. Oh shit, no turning back is there?"

"No turning back."

As I felt him reach towards the night stand I inhaled his masculine scent. He smelled just as I expected. He then pivoted on the bed as I heard him open the cap on the lube. He squirted some on his palm, then slowly started to jack my dick, coating it evenly with the lube.

"Cover it generously so it can just slip into that furry butt of yours. Mike, Pete would tell you that you are about to be fucked by a pro. I've wanted that ass since the first day I met you."

"Really? It's better than Pete's isn't it? Admit it."

"Don't get cocky buddy. Nothing is better than Pete, but you are close. I think I'm ready, are you?"

"Yes" he whispered. "How do I do this?"

"Straddle my hips. Place my dick against your butt. Then ease on down. Once you get used to it, I will take over."

"But you're big, d'ya really think I can take it?"

"If I can take Pete's thick hog of a dick; you can take mine. You are just as much of a man as I am."

I felt him straddle me, then reach back and grab my dick. He slowly lowered himself until my knob kissed his hole. He hesitated once again, then slowly wiggled his ass on my dick. I felt my knob part his hole, then open and allow two inches of my thickness to enter his butt.

"Take it easy Mike, don't rush it. I'm here to make love to you buddy, not hurt you."

He rose on his haunches, then plunged back down taking most of my seven inches. I felt a hefty slab of dick bounce off my gut.

"That's quite a dick you got on you bud. Maybe I'll talk Pete into letting you two tag team me afterwards. That is if you do a good enough job."

"You'd like that huh?" Mike raised up again, then sat back down on my dick, taking all seven inches. "Fuck me Kyle" He grunted. "Take my cherry. Fill me up."

I bent my knees and started slamming into his ass. I could feel his dick leaking all over my gut. Mike was enjoying himself, really getting into having a man fill his butt. "Go ahead Mike, lean forward and kiss me. It will take us to the limit and over."

As he leaned forward, he raised his ass, allowing me to fuck him harder than I had been. His lips met mine, then parted. I tasted his masculine kisses. It was a taste I was familiar with. "Damn Mike you taste almost as good as Pete, and your taking my dick like a pro.

"Am I better than Pete?"

"Untie my wrists, and we might find out. Go ahead Mike. Pete told me I am in charge."

He waited as I slowed down our fuck. I knew what I wanted, he had to want the same thing.

"Go ahead" I whispered. "It's ok – Pete."

I pushed into my man's ass.

"You mean; you know?"

Pete undid my blindfold. In the dim light I looked in his eyes. "Almost from the beginning. You're a good actor Pete, but no one has a dick like that, or tastes like you do. Now untie me and let's make love."

"If that is what my man wants, that is what my man gets."

"With the lights on, I want to see the man I am about to marry."

Pete pulled himself off my dick and gingerly undid my restraints. He then turned on the bedside lamp and closed the shade. He laid on the bed, his beautiful back to me, then reached over to pull me close. I slowly entered him then nuzzled his neck. I set up a loving rhythm, stroking deep into his ass while peppering his neck, back and shoulders with kisses.

"This is all I'll ever need babe. You, me, our love."

"What about Mikes butt? Didn't you say it was almost as good as mine?"

"If the three of us ever play together, that is great. But the man I love has a better ass."

"Okay, what about Rolf's rimming?"

"Rolf is fun, but he has his own man to tend to."

"You have to admit Al is hot."

"I got the sexiest ex pro wrestler in my arms. Let Al find his own lover."

"Yeah, let him. Fuck me Kyle. Fill my ass with your juice. I need it."

I pulled out. "Assume the position."

Pete scrambled to his hands and knees on the bed. I got behind him and lowered my face to his ass. "Since Rolf isn't here, guess I'll have to rim you."

"Oh yeah Kyle. Eat my ass. Let me feel that tongue."

I spread his hairy cheeks and chowed down. I licked up and down his crack, and rubbed my beard all over his butt. His ass was highly seasoned after a few hours in his coach's shorts, so I savored his essence.

"Al never has fucked you Pete, will my dick do?"

"Fuck me Kyle. Pin me with that wrestler's dick of yours."

I spread his ass and slammed home.

"Oh Yeah Kyle" he grunted. Show me how you'll fuck Mike when he uses his hall pass. Fill my fucking hole."

With talk like that, it didn't take me long. My toes curled as I slammed my dick home one last time. I grunted and snorted while unloading in my man's furry butt.

Pete collapsed on the bed, I fell with him. I pulled us onto our sides, still connected dick to ass. "Thanks honey" I whispered.

"For what?"

"For this memorable send-off of our single life. For trusting me."

He pulled free then turned to hug me, looked into my eyes. "Kyle, we've been a couple from day one. When we broke up, it didn't change that fact. When we tie the knot tomorrow, it won't change that fact. I don't believe in much, but I do believe in fate. And fate brought you to me, when we both really needed it."

I kissed Pete, then pulled him closer. "Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day. I'll be proud to end it with you."

A note from Bix:

Between work, and vacation, I have been slow on getting these stories out. I have also been working on the stories for the wedding ceremony because I want them to be written completely, before I release them.  When I do they should follow one after another.

My characters mean a lot to me, and so do my readers. I do not want to do an injustice to either faction. I hope to follow these characters through an entire year of storytelling.  I hope you will follow along with me.

FYI: The first four months of my stories are available as a Kindle friendly e-book at Amazon.com.  Search for me under Bix Meister. It is easier to read, and has some artwork to enhance the story.  Reviews and feedback are appreciated if you happen to buy.

With these chapters I am utilizing the HTML method to make my story easier to read.  I am looking for feedback on this in addition to any feedback on the storyline. Personal emails might also get a sneak peek at artwork for an upcoming story. Continue to email me at Bixmeister57@gmail.com.
