Author's Comments Back from a good summer. I am going to change the format and the story a bit. This is still part of the story, Unexpected but I am going to write some chapters on Gio, Philip's brother. James, Philip and Jeremy will return in Chapter 17. Hope that everyone likes this departure. Gio was rather nasty to James on their first meeting but slowly came to accept the relationship of his brother Philipo and James. James helped Gio figure out his relationship with Chelsea, his latest girlfriend. Gio helped with and was at Philip and James' New Years Eve party where he met a fellow, Kevin., much to his surprise As usual, it takes a bit of time to set the scene. Stay with me. Present Gio wondered how James could ever have accepted him after his stupid actions on the first day they met at church and then back home for lunch, the Juventus game and supper. Gio had discovered the other side of James' character. He was kind, considerate and thoughtful but he could also be tough and no nonsense when he felt that he had to be. Gio quickly found out that day that he was out of depth with this guy. Stupidly Gio had bumped into him a couple of time deliberately. Why? He could hardly explain such adolescent behaviour. The final time in the living room, James had stopped, his look as hard as steel and told him that another action like that and he would spill wine all over him, just a little accident. The tone of voice and look convinced Gio that he meant it. He did have that glass of red wine in his hand. Then Gio had accused him of turning his brother gay. Again James had stopped but this time, he lost his good English and politeness and told Gio to get his fucking story correct. Philipo had been at the gay club with friends and had approached James to dance with him. James had finally accepted his invitation. It was his brother who had suggested that they go home together. They had. James made it abundantly clear that Philip was gay and that James thought that it was the luckiest day of his life that they had met. In the weeks that followed, he observed the relationship of the two. They respected each other. They consulted each other. They planned their life together. They enjoyed each others company. The looks, the little touches that they gave the other spoke volumes. James obviously loved being in the family and he was the only one who could stand up to Mamma ... and win. He mentally started to compare this relationship to his present girlfriend, Chelsea and it just didn't come close to what he saw between the two guys. In fact, he began to vaguely realize that he never had that sort of relationship with any of his girlfriends. Chelsea had begun to harass him about going to church and doing Sundays with the family. When that didn't work, she started to constantly complain about how the family hated her. It sounded so silly. He finally needed to talk to someone. Somehow, he knew that he could talk to James. He remembered that lunch so well. First, James had been reluctant to meet and not tell Philipo. James did not like to keep secrets from his partner but he finally relented. When Gio asked the question 'why did everyone hate Chelsea', he was surprised and eventually impressed by the answer. James had been surprised and stopped talking. He was obviously thinking hard and then choosing his words carefully. It was simple; she had not joined the family and her lack of desire to fit in or do anything made everyone just give up on her. James had warned him about her probable reaction to any comments he might make to her about the situation. Boy, was James correct again. He and Chelsea had had, as it turned out, a final discussion about him and his family. He tried to explain why everyone reacted the way they did. There were tears and recriminations. He didn't understand her position. He was just like everyone else in the family. On and on. When he mentioned how James had fit in, there were narrowed eyes and homophobic comments about those fucking gays. That really made him angry; she couldn't see and didn't even want to try. She was one of those empty headed young girls that were out there; the world centred around them. Then the ultimatum. It was her or the family the next Sunday. He chose the family. In the words of James about Philipo, the best decision that he ever made. So in the weeks that followed Chelsea's departure, he went out with his friends and went dancing. He knew that he was good looking, had a pretty good job as a computer engineer/programer and was charming to young ladies. It was not hard over the Christmas party season to have a pretty regular supply of nubile bed mates but they were just that, a little fun and sexual release. He decided early on that he would go to Philipo and James' New Years Eve party and he was pretty sure that he would go single. He would meet some young lady that night and who knows, maybe it would be more than a few laughs and a good night and morning in bed. He became part of the planning of the party. He made some of the arrangements while that guys were with Jame's parents for Christmas and Boxing Day for the pick up of some of the dishes and glasses. They had phoned and left him a list to pick up some of the alcohol in advance of the crazy last couple of days before New Years in the Liquor Store. He helped set up the party on New Years Eve day and sat around with Tom and Eric before the start of arrivals. Again, he was surprised at what a stereotype that he still had of gays. He hit it off immediately with Eric, Tom's partner. They were probably James' best friends. The guys were so easy going. They loved sports and their jobs. They laughed and joked and got each other with little digs and off colour comments. Eric reminded him of several of his straight buddies. Eric worked out, had a great build and loved his sport both the hockey that he played and followed. Having a conversation with these guys was just like sitting around a sports bar with his friends. At one point, he had mentioned a pool game he had recently played and Eric knew exactly what he was talking about. In fact, he had challenged Gio to a game in the coming weeks.Gio figured Eric would be good. People started to arrive at the party. It was fun greeting them and looking at some of the young ladies. However, most of the early arrivals were from James firm. It never ceased to amaze him that this man owned and ran a fairly large firm of accountants. He watched him operate with this group. He could see a new persona appear, welcoming, friendly but the boss. He suddenly realized that many of them were coming and leaving. His nasty side thought 'sucking up to the boss' but they still seemed to be having a good time. Probably not any luck finding a young lady in this group. Then the ones who were coming to stay until midnight started to arrive. They were a mixed group of straights and gays because it was a mixture of the football team, the club and few friends from their work. It became really hard to tell who was who. He suddenly realized that it didn't matter. He played the role of host and made sure there was food and drinks, circulating, talking to people. Sometime around ten the ones who were leaving had left and the ones staying until the New Year were left. It really was a mixed group. They rolled up the very beautiful carpet and started some dance music that he and someone from the club had put together. The dancing started. He made the rounds and had dances with all the single females and a few of the girls whose husbands/boyfriends didn't like to dance. He also started drinking. He had a good time but there was no one that really struck him as his partner for the night. So he drank a bit more. He was getting himself a refill when a guy came up to him and introduced himself as Kevin a friend of Jamie's. They got a drink and started to talk. It ranged all over the place but they ended up talking in detail about the NHL and the hockey season. They both could hold their own. It was obvious that Kevin played in a league somewhere in the city. They must have talked for quite a few minutes when they were interrupted by a guy who told Kevin that he had promised him a dance to this song. He watched them go off as the guy put his arm around Kevin's shoulder in a possessive way. God it was a sexy dance. He would never have guessed that Kevin was gay but his hands on the guy's ass during one of the dances settled that. Gio searched for more females making the rounds yet again. Nothing. It looked as if this was going to be a new, New Years for Gio. It would appear that he was going home solo tonight. He got himself another drink and was standing just looking and taking in the room A really good fast song started up and he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Eric. "Come on big guy. Come and dance with us. I can see you moving to the beat. You like this one." Why not? He followed Eric out to the floor. Eric was one hell of good dancer. Suddenly, Tom was there and they were all dancing together. It finished and someone yelled, 'That one again.' It was obviously a favourite. He realized that more had joined them and he looked to his right and Kevin was dancing beside him. Somehow the two of them ended up dancing together. The song ended again and a slow one started up. "Not a bad dancer for a straight boy." "Hey, gay boy you know a few moves yourself." "Would you dance a slow one?" He had a little smile. "Might need another drink for that." "Your on." Kevin had a big smile. Kevin was pushing it. Gio figured why not. Before he knew it, he had another drink and it didn't last long. Hi inhibitions were fast disappearing. Kevin took him back to the floor and he was dancing a slow one with a guy. At one point, Kevin pulled them apart and gave him a sly smile. "You see, it's not hard." "But you feel different. Move differently. But a great dancer, I have to say." The song ended. "Gio, you are a good sport and a good dancer. Just wish that you were one of us." Big smile, "Sorry about that. Maybe another time." He gave Kevin a bit of a smirk. 12 arrived and there was hooting and hollering. He looked over and saw his brother and Jamie kiss and then hold each other looking at the other saying intimate things. He looked to his right and Eric and Tom were kissing and then hugging each other. They had much the same relationship as Philipo and Jamie. Well they weren't going to an empty bed tonight. Maybe time for another drink. Kevin came up, wished him the best and gave him a big man hug. It felt good. They chatted about the past year and the coming one. It turned out that Kevin worked in IT as he did and they had a spirited discussion of software and programming. Gio was still drinking but he noticed that Kevin had stopped after a quick glass of bubbly. Gio mentioned that maybe he should stop. Kevin looked at him. "Ah don't bother, I'll take you home or you can stay at my place. I have lots of ibuprofen, I make a good breakfast. I have been told that my couch is comfortable." Did he really mean it? Gio noticed that the food was getting low and he excused himself to find Philipo. He saw movement in the kitchen. The two of them were stalking each other around the kitchen trying to fondle, pinch asses and generally try to get the other one. They were laughing and threatening the most drastic things, some quite sexual. Yet again, he envied the guys for what they had together and was really happy for them. He did of course interrupt their little playtime. Gio knew instinctively what they would be up to later in the evening when everyone was gone. People were starting to leave and Gio realized that he should not drive. He was standing talking to Kevin when James told him that he could sleep in the study. He thought to himself thinking about the sexually charged scene in the kitchen earlier that they didn't need him around. On the spur of the moment, Gio blurted out that Kevin had said that he could use his couch. He saw a trace of a smile appear on Kevin's face and Kevin nodded yes. Gio realized that he really had drunk a lot but he and Kevin stayed later with Eric and Tom to clean up. Gio was extra careful because he realized that he was rather tipsy. Kevin put his arm around him to give him a little support as they walked to Kevin's car on the snow and slippery ice. Kevin had a nice condo downtown and Gio could see that it was spacious and well decorated. He would talk about that tomorrow with Kevin. Drinking often made Gio horny and he had not had much action in the last days leading up to the party. Kevin said that he would go and get some sheets, pillow and a blanket. Gio also became a little forward at times like that as well, charming but forward. "Kevin, I could just sleep in that kingsize bed that you have and you wouldn't have to go to that trouble." Then he really put his foot in it. "We both ended up without anyone tonight. Who knows maybe we could help each other out." He said it lightly but even he could hear the slight slur in his voice. The alcohol had really taken effect on him. Kevin got the kindest look on his face but he said with some determination. "Gio, I don't think that is a good idea. You know, I have a general rule that I never go to bed with a guy who is too many sheets to the wind, especially if he is straight." His smile to Gio was genuine. "Oh shit, I am sorry. What I said was out of order. I am really embarassed. Maybe, maybe I should go home." Kevin did something that totally surprised him. He put his arm around him and they sat down on the couch together with Kevin's arm still around him. "I don't want you to leave. I have really enjoyed meeting you tonight. I would really like you to stay and we can talk in the morning over a good breakfast and lots of coffee. You really are a great guy Gio." Gio had met very few people who would have reacted like that. It felt so good to feel his arm around him with the heat of Kevin's body radiating into him. He too had enjoyed the evening and lot of it was because of Kevin. This guy was worth getting to know. Eventually with lots of water and ibuprofen in him, Gio was lying on the couch in his shorts and a t shirt that Kevin had given to him with a sheet and pillow. Kevin too was in his shorts and a t shirt. Gio looked up and his unbidden thought was what a good looking, well built guy, Kevin was. "Thanks Kevin, I really appreciate what you said and have done for me." "Believe me, my pleasure." It probably was lucky that he could not read Kevin's thoughts at that moment. Before the sheet had been pulled up, Kevin had seen the strong muscled legs and thighs covered in lovely short black hair. His chest filled out the large size t shirt that he had given him and he could see the defined chest with small round nipples which were slightly hard from the friction of the shirt. His face had strong, handsome features with his evening shadow really beginning to show. Oh shit, it would have been very hard to keep his hands off this guy if they had gone to bed. He had done it once with a straight guy and there had been an unpleasant departure the next day as the guy was in denial about what he had said and done. He accused Kevin of taking advantage of him. If nothing else, he wanted Gio as a friend. So with all those thoughts running through his mind, he reached down and gave Gio a quick hug. "I really enjoyed the party, Gio. See you in the morning." He suspected that Gio would be out in a flash. He himself was aroused as hell. No one in his bed and the vision on the couch had made him hard. He reached over to the bedside table and put some lube on this hand and cock. The video in his head featured Gio as its star and Kevin moaned and was breathing hard when his release came with Gio front and centre. It was a lot and quite messy. He cleaned up and went to sleep very relieved, satisfied and looking forward to the morning with Gio. Gio was one of those people who could drink a fair amount and not have a bad hangover the next day, especially if he drank a lot of water the night before and took some pain killers. He had done that; so when he awaked and oriented himself to his surroundings, he got up and used the bathroom and then rooted around the kitchen for the makings of breakfast. He had looked in and Kevin was lying sleeping on his side with the covers off looking so young, innocent and very good looking. Gio noticed the well formed legs and body and was impressed yet again at how good looking this man was. He made a mental inventory of the kitchen. No espresso machine. One strike against him. He chuckled to himself. He had 'cheated' as he had bought an Nespresso machine that made his morning espresso with no fuss nor muss and tasted a hell of lot better than some of the stuff he was served at coffee shops and some of his friends homes. When he found Kevin's coffee, he took back some of his thoughts, dark roasted beans, fair trade from a small Italian roaster in town. He found the burr grinder; this guy knew his coffee. Soon there were delicioius smelling cups of coffee brewing. The sound of the grinding must have wakened Kevin. Gio turned around to see a bemused Kevin standing in the doorway still dressed for bed with his hair arranged by sleep. His boxer briefs showed the outline of his morning erection in the last stage of subsiding, still impressive. Christ where did that thought come from? Gio smiled to himself and decided not to make a comment. Kevin broke in. "I thought that I was supposed to make breakfast for my guests." Gio tried to sound so pathetic and long suffering. "Not if your guest is starving and has been awake for hours. I looked in and you were sleeping like an innocent little lamb. Right!!" Just the right tone of voice had them both laughing. "He was promised lots of coffee for this particular morning. What is a guy to do? And no espresso machine!" A long mournful sigh and then a big smile. "Cereal or bacon and eggs?" "Let's do it up right. A good old fry up with lots of cholesterol and calories. I guess I had better get dressed." "Why? We are dressed the same. I'm comfortable as is. I need breakfast!!!" Kevin gave him a not so soft tap on the shoulder but they were both laughing. Gio, "Tell you what, let me make something for the eggs. I have looked in your refrigerator and you have what I need. You can take care of the bacon, eggs and toast. Give me a couple of minutes to prepare things. The coffee is almost ready. Excellent coffee choice by the way." Gio got out an onion, a sweet red pepper and some mushrooms. When asked for it, Kevin produced good quality olive oil, balsamic vinegar, thyme and oregano. He had it all; the man would make Mamma proud with his kitchen. His selection of vegetables and spices was excellent. Gio used the French chef's knife like a pro. He had been so used to Mamma's kitchen; he had picked up techniques and ideas for quick excellent tasting meals. In fact, he was a pretty good cook. He turned as he finished chopping his ingredients. Kevin was watching him. "I should have known. You know your way around a kitchen and a French Chef's knife. I am impressed." Gio shrugged. "Wait until you taste." He heated the oil and put in the ingredients, sprinkled it with salt and lots of pepper and then used his hand to roughly measure thyme and oregano. "There that should do it." Kevin was smiling in appreciation of Gio's style as he did his part of the breakfast putting the bacon in the microwave and then scrambled some eggs quickly in a bowl but he did not cook them. The bread was already in the toaster. "How long before your garnish is ready?" He was told a couple of minutes. Kevin quickly set the table with some sparkling white dishes and a lovely dark red and a dark blue mug. Very inviting. "There I don't like to over cook scrambled eggs. They should be just cooked and not dry." Everything was coming together. "Eggs ready in a minute." It all came together at once and the two guys were sitting down to a great New Years Day breakfast. Kevin, "To a well organized team. Have a good New Year Gio. This sets off a good News Years Eve." He looked at Gio with a twinkle in his eye. "Well, there was ... something missing but there will be another day." "Kevin, Happy New Year. This is a great way to spend it. The eggs are wonderful. I had forgotten how good bacon is when cooked in the microwave. Don't tell my mother. She doesn't like microwaves. You have great taste in coffee but I will have you over to my place to taste a good espresso." They chatted about the party and some of the people that were there. "Gio, we were both at the party as singles last night. I was surprised to see a guy like you by himself." He gave him a questioning look. "I was thinking exactly the same thing about you. You did just say that there was something missing." With a huge smile, "So did you last night." "Oh, shit. So sorry. I was out of line." "Just teasing. Can I be blunt?" Gio gave him a searching look but nodded yes. "I really enjoyed New Years Eve with you. If you had been gay, I guarantee the night would have gone differently." "I made an offer." He almost had a smirk on his face. Kevin told him the story of the straight guy who left angry. He finished looking at Gio. "I didn't want that to happen with you." He paused. "Can I ask a personal question?" Gio nodded yes. "Have you ever had an experience with a guy?" Gio looked at him intently and again nodded yes. "A long time ago. I was 18.We never went too far, lots of hand jobs. I broke it off after he gave me a blow job. It scared the hell out of me. I enjoyed it ... too much. I couldn't be gay so I ended it. Since then, lots of women but none that really clicked. I have never had anything close to what Philipo and Jamie have. Sad to say." Gio decided to change the focus of the discussion. "You were not with anyone. A reason?" Kevin decided to be honest about himself. Probably Gio would find out from Jamie. "I have had a lot of men as you have had a lot of women. I have had some good times but I too haven't struck up a relationship like Philipo and Jamie. Much like you." Gio decided that they needed a bit of fun. "Well maybe I should try gay and you should try straight although I did see that hand on Jack's ass last night while you were dancing. Maybe we both have it wrong." "Gio, I am set in my ways. Believe me I tried straight and I had qutie few girls but I had an experience with a guy in my teens and as they say, I switched teams." He shrugged his shoulders. Gio did not have an answer to that that he wanted to give right now so he decided that he should change the subject. "You have anything planned for the day? No? I have a suggestion. Philipo and Jamie have a lot of food left over and I think that Tom and Eric are going over for lunch. I bet I could get us an invitation over. My car is there anyway and maybe we would make a day of it." "It looks as if our day is planned." Gio was surprised how he reacted to 'our day'. It felt good. It is what he would like to do. He connected with Jamie after only two rings. They must be up and at it. "You two are actually up and out of bed. Amazing!" "Out of bed but not up anymore." He paused and stifled the chuckle. "Didn't need that information! Could we come over for lunch? You have lots of leftovers." "We?" "Yeah, Kevin and I. He has a comfortable couch." They had a great time with the guys. Lunch, hockey at the local outdoor rink, Thai food and beer at Tom and Eric's. They said their good byes to Jamie and Philipo and walked out to their cars. They stopped as they arrived at Gio's car. It looked as if Kevin was making a decision. "Gio, I may regret saying this but I might regret not saying it. I have had one of the best couple of days in a long time." He stopped and looked squarely at Gio. Gio too looked as if he was choosing his words as well. "No regrets for me." With a smile, "Not yet anyway. It has been exciting and revealing for me. Days to remember. Good days." "I'd like to meet again. How about supper on Wednesday?" There he was committed. "Can I suggest some pool and a good pub supper? Suggestions?" He too wanted to see Kevin again. They came up with a place and a time. Kevin decided to go out on the limb again. "Last thing that I want to do. I hope that I am not going too far, too fast." Kevin leaned over and enveloped Gio in his big muscular arms. Gio responded in kind. This was not quite a man hug and both men knew it. Kevin's lips brushed Gio's cheek as he disengaged. Gio could still feel that brush of a kiss as he drove home. Oh shit was all he could say to himself. It felt good.
