Chapter 27

Kori, Jake, and Liam; A Story of Love

. . . .Chapter 27 . . . .  "Garret you are a really a great kid but right
now I need to get up and go check the horses before bed.  You enjoy the TV
with Liam."  I excused myself and headed out the backdoor to go check the
horses.  I think I just avoided and real bad situation. I added a flake of
hay for Eric, Finley and Dusty and shut off the lights and returned to the
house.

   Garret and Liam were watching TV and I thought it was time to tell all
the boys "time for bed."  I walked down the hall and Kori and Peter were
still playing the game.  I said . . .  "Hey guys I think it's time for bed.
I want you two to take care of Liam try to keep him in the middle and make
sure he does not fall out of bed!"  The boys laughed at me and just said
Ok.

   I went back to the living room and told Garret and Liam to join Kori and
Peter and get ready for bed.  One thing I learned quickly was to have lots
of toothbrushes, why, because they get lost, dropped in the toilet and used
for other things besides brushing teeth.  I tossed out extra tooth brushes
to Peter and Garret.  Then I made one more comment about the sleeping
arrangement for tonight.  . . .  "Boys I am asking you all please keep your
underwear on especially you two up there with Liam."

   With my last statement came uproarious laughter and this comment from
the boys . . . . "Jake we all sleep naked except Liam even Garret was
complaining" . . .  Then Liam pipes up . . . "Yeah Jake Kori always sleeps
naked and I seen Peter's thing too so it ain't no big deal."  Then I said
. . . "well it's a big deal tonight so Peter and Kori underwear on,
Please."  They may not have been happy but they agreed.  Now what happens
after I go to bed I guess will be another thing.  I said goodnight to the
boys and went to my bedroom.

   I took a quick shower and as everything was quiet I crawled in bed.  I
was in bed about 3 minutes when I was attacked by 4 rowdy boys.  Yes that
is correct; Kori, Peter, Liam and Garret were all on top of me.  Kori
started off by saying . . . "Jake you didn't give me a hug or a kiss
goodnight!  Then Liam with the same thing, now I am looking at Peter and he
adds . . . I always kiss my dad goodnight and now I am in deep trouble, as
Garret is looking directly at me.  And he says yeah Jake, I always "kiss"
my dad goodnight too."

   There was nothing I could do they had me pinned and one by one I got a
hug and a kiss.  Grrrrrrrrrr . . . .  Kori Kissed Me Tenderly right on the
mouth, then Peter leaned in and was nice about it he kissed me on the
forehead, that was followed by Liam with a big hug and a kiss on the cheek;
that left Garret, and he leaned in like Kori and kissed me on the lips and
it was a real kiss.  Peter broke up laughing but Kori was pissed and pushed
Garret off me and said . . . "Hey he's mine" then he turned red. Peter and
Garret looked at Kori but Liam broke everything up when he said "Attack"

   The bed was destroyed.  We all had fun and it was all over in two
minutes and they were running back to their bedroom.  I got up and fixed
the bed and went to check the boys.  To my surprise they were all in bed
and where I had asked them to be.  I turned all the lights out and went to
bed.  However I didn't know if I would get a good night sleep.

   It was 3 am when I woke and needed to go pee.  I decided to go take a
look at the boys.  Amazing they were all sleeping and just as I had left
them.  I quietly walked back to my bedroom and just as I was about to enter
I heard . . . . "Jake, Jake" I turned and was face to face with Garret.  He
said . .  .  "I need to talk to you please?"  I said Ok and we went to the
kitchen . . . Garret whispered . . . "Jake thank you for letting me stay
over.  I'm sorry for what I did please don't be angry with me.  I never
have anyone to talk to and you are just so nice and you didn't put me down
for being gay and you didn't even get mad when I, . . .  you know touched
you.  Do you think I could visit again?  I promise I'll be good."  . . .
So I think I can understand Garret so I said to him . . . "Garret you will
always be welcome here, anytime.  I think I know what you mean when you say
you don't have anyone to talk to because neither do I."  Like with Kori I
messed his hair and told him to go back to bed.  With a teasing smile he
said . . . "Yours or back to Kori's room?"  I just pointed and said "GO" he
quietly went down the hall.

   I went back to bed and slept peacefully till morning. The alarm was set
for 6:30 am and that is plenty of time to get things done and get to
school.  However like the night ended so was the morning to start.  I was
turned away from the door so I just felt the covers lift.  I didn't move
just looked at the clock it was just 6.  I felt the covers lift again and I
turned to see all four boys trying to sneak into bed.  They were all being
so cute.  I said Ok 30 minutes and be good.

   I hugged up to Kori and he was hugged up to Liam just like any other
morning and then Peter and Garret were snuggled next to each other.  Do
they make bigger than King size beds?  Nothing happened and just before
6:30 I was up and out of bed.  Bathroom and coffee and as I headed to the
kitchen I heard Liam . . . "Jake did you wash your hands?"  I laughed all
the way to the coffee maker.  The boys were up and in different bathrooms.

   Kori, Liam and Peter headed to the barn for chores and Garret helped me
with getting breakfast.  He was good and good to look at too.  He was a
little quiet and I asked him . . .  "Garret are you Ok?"  He said
. . . "Jake I feel real good and thank you for being my friend."  I think
Garret knew he had someone he could talk to and he was like at ease very
calm as compared with yesterday.

   Today it needed to be a quick and easy breakfast so it was Fruit Loops,
Captain Crunch, Coco Puffs, and Raisin Bran and toast, OJ, Milk and lots of
coffee.  The boys came in from chores and said everything was finished and
Dusty and Eric were in the lower pasture and Finley was in the upper
pasture.  Great job boys lets have breakfast and quick showers.  A knock at
the door and it was Garrets mother with school clothes and a thank you
note.  She didn't stay but did give Garret a kiss and that called for . . .
giggles.  He did turn red.  Breakfast over it was showers and how do we
work that?

   Peter and Kori go take a quick shower and Garret take your shower in my
bathroom . . . no, . . . . On second thought Kori, Peter and Liam go use my
big shower and make it a fast one.  Garret you go use Kori's bathroom and
same for you make it fast.  Then while you guys are getting dressed I can
take a fast shower.

   The boys did as I asked and we were ready for school.  The truck was
full of chatty boys and three minutes later I dropped Garret at high
school.  We turned the corner and drove into our parking lot.  The boys
jumped out and never even said good bye.  Funny how sometimes I am the
center of attention, attack or the money man then next thing I know I don't
even exist.

   The school yard was full of activity and it was a beautiful day.  Then I
spotted Charlie the bully.  He was with his little group.  I looked to see
where Kori and Liam were and was relieved to see they were Peter and the
"Mob" as I call them.  In all fairness those kids are really nice kids.

   With only two week of school before summer break all the kids are a
little wound up.  The bell rang and it was the usual line up and cutting
in, pushing and the occasional bad language.  Today was just so smooth.  My
class was great and the kids were having a good time showing me all the
work they had done over the weekend.  The reports were collected and
geography quiz was one of the best ever.  Wow time went quick and it was
recess bell.

   While the kids were out I went to the office to check on a few things.
I entered and had a message to stop and see Mr. Prince.  I knocked on his
door and we had a good meeting regarding Liam.  It would appear that if all
is good at the end of the 120 days I will be granted legal guardianship
till his 18th birthday.  This was the best news.  I knew how happy Kori
would be to hear this and I would tell him on the way home today.

   Recess is over and it is back to class.  Today is one of those good days
even if they appear to have had a ton of sugar before school.  The bell
again and now it is lunch and I do have lunch duty.  The kids were at the
door and in minutes in the cafeteria, and the noise was considerable today.
Peter, Kori and Liam were all together and having a good time.  I am so
lucky.

   The rest of the day went without any problems and soon it was final
bell.  The kids lined up at the door and one by one as the bells rang they
were gone.  The room was quiet and soon there was that familiar knock.
There at the door was Kori and Liam.  Kori had his hand around Liam's neck
and they looked like brothers.  Just as I was about to say something
Mr. Prince walked up behind the boys and looked in at me and said . . .
Wowww Mr. Roberts you have two handsome boys waiting for you.  The boys
smiled and we were off for the day.

   We jumped in the truck and headed home.  I said . . . "Liam and Kori I
have some really good news.  If everything goes good this summer, no
problems, you both behave (kidding) then it looks like I will have legal
custody of Liam till he is 18; of course that is if Liam wants to stay with
us."  There was deafening cheers from the boys.  Liam asked . . .  "Then we
are a real family?"  Kori answered that without hesitation . . . "Yes Liam
we are and have been a real family since you walked through the door."  It
is simple for me to say I love my boys.

   I told the boys when we get home please change your clothes have snacks
and then please ride Eric and Dusty while I work Finley.  The boys were
happy with that.  The boys told me that they had a great time on the
weekend and it was so fun to have Peter and Garret over.  Then Kori said
. . . "Jake I think Garret kinda has a thing for you, huh?"  I said
. . . "Oh, you think we could talk about that some other time?"  Not to be
left out of the conversation Liam pipes up with . . . "Jake, Garret says
you're hot."  I cut things short with telling them I needed to have the
fence line checked when they were riding.  I think they got the message.

   We turned in the drive and pulled to the back door.  The boys were out
and in the house shoes off and in their bedroom changing their clothes in
seconds.  When they came back in the kitchen we sat and had our snacks.  I
explained to the boys that when school was out we were going to make a trip
to New Haven to see Professor at Yale.  Kori got all excited and started to
tell Liam all about Yale, Professor and Mystic Seaport.

   I asked the boys if they were still interested in camping and of course
the answer was yes.  I said . . . "Ok what about we get chores done and
change and go to Bass Pro Shop and see about a tent and some gear.  That
worked well for getting them motivated and charged up.

   With only two weeks before school I wanted to get everything we need for
the summer and learn how to set it up so we don't look stupid when we get
tot eh campgrounds.  We headed out to the barn and did afternoon chores and
then changed into good shorts and were off toe Bass Pro.

   We talked about things we would need on the way there. We pulled in and
went directly to the camping section.  I will say we had to snatch Liam
several times as he was looking at everything.  We wanted to get the tent
first then the other things.  Kori and Liam were in and out of the tents
that they had set up.  We were thinking of a four person tent but we didn't
like anything they had.  Decisions decisions and we decided to go to
Cabalas.

   Thirty minutes later we were at Cabalas and again it was in and out of
the tents on display and looking at other things.  The thinking on the ride
there was we needed something that could have more than just us.  What if
Kori wanted a friend and then Liam wanted a friend well that is 5. Cabalas
had the solution and we ended up with a Kodiak Canvas Deluxe Flex Bow 10x14
Tent.  Ok I admit it looks like a little overkill but it is a one person
setup.

   The boys were just about out of control.  We also picked 2 sleeping bags
and a Coleman camp gas stove.  We were finished and on the way home.  The
boys were so excited, and I promised them we would go camping this week
end.  I reminded them that this was a family project so everyone helps no
sitting and watching.

   We pulled in the drive and to the back door the boys were out and
unloading all the gear.  We had everything next to the back steps and I was
sitting down watching them as they opened the sleeping bag boxes.  The boys
came over to me and it was lots and lots of hugs.  Then they pulled me up
and of course we had to open and put up the tent.

   We unboxed the tent and it is in a very nice carry bag.  This is a very
large tent and heavy 79 pounds.  It took us awhile but we got up and then
we knew it would be easy the second time.  Why did I think that would be
all for today?  Now it was sleeping bags.  "Wait! Stop Ok I know you boys
are excited but it is still early so let's do this . . .  put everything in
the tent and exercise the horses and then we can finish the tent and we can
all sleep in the tent tonight.  Now I was thinking and they went for that
idea.

   We saddled Dusty and Eric and the boys rode the fence line while worked
Finley.  Kori found one broken center wire and we fixed it then we called
it a day for that.  I asked the boys to go get homework done and after than
we could make dinner and finish setting up a camp for tonight.

   Dinner was easy we made a Tater tot nachos baked dish very fast and
easy.  We decided to eat out on the back porch and pick a spot or our
campsite; and while we ate we decided to camp by the big elm tree in the
backyard.  Dinner finished we cleaned everything up and it was back to the
tent and move it near the elm.

   We moved the tent set up the front canopy threw in the sleeping bags and
the boys were having fun.  I went and found my sleeping and threw it in
along with the boy's bags.

   It was time for showers and I was waiting to see how it would work
tonight.  Why hold on a minute . . . Kori and Liam went to their bathroom
and took a shower.  What are guys kidding me?  Seriously.  . . .  So I got
a shower alone . . . ahhhhh it was great.  It was almost 9 pm and with
showers done the boys wanted to go to the tent.  I gave them a flashlight
and watched as they headed out the door to the tent, the very large tent.

   They were so cute with their pillows.  I was going to watch TV for a
while and actually thought what a great idea it was to get the tent.  It
was almost 9:30 when the boys were back in the house dragging me out to the
tent.  I went along I knew how excited they were and they wanted me to be a
part of this night.

   We crawled in our sleeping bags and were all cuddled up against each
other to keep warm.  One thing with Kori's bag zipped up his hands were not
roaming over to me.  I laughed to myself.  It was just about 10:15 and I
think we had turned from side to side around 45 times each.  Nice sleeping
bags but the damn ground is as hard as a cement floor.

   Three guesses where we ended up???  Yes my bed.  The boys were giggling
and we had to rethink the items for camping.  For now are eyes shut and it
was as usual with Kori.  I moved his hand back several times and finally
turned over and said . . . "Kori move over I think Liam needs some hugging
from both of us."  I had Liam get in the middle and I hugged up to him and
Liam was hugging up to Kori,

   Morning came with the sunlight peeking in the window. Now I don't know
how or when but there was Kori fast asleep. His hand on my chest he was
naked as always and Liam was all cuddled up to Kori.  I give up.
