Chapter 49

. . . Chapters 49 . . .  Mornings have been wonderful and this morning is
no different.  We all have been sleeping so soundly that we delight with
the arrival of a new day.  Liam has completely recovered and back to
himself.  We all love Liam and never knowing what he may be up to next.
Our daily routine stays almost the same each day.  The time from chores to
night chores has included a number of fun activities; from trail riding,
mountain biking, fishing, swimming, hiking, and camping but today we're
going zip lining.

   Just 22 miles northwest of us is Zoar Adventure and we're in for a real
adventure.  The course is a genuine canopy tour built directly in the trees
and connected through platforms that sit high above the forest floor.  You
experience progressively faster zips and a variety of tree types.  We need
to pick up Peter and we will be on our way.  Everyone is excited, or a
little nervous but mostly excited.

   We arrived and went through some instruction and then our guide walked
with us to the start of the course.  Garret took one look at the height and
started to get dizzy but was all in.  We harnessed up and were off on the
first zip . . . and it was a zip . . . OMG my heart rate jumped 80 beats in
a second.  It was a feeling of Freedom, excitement, exhilaration, thrills,
and an adrenaline rush.

   We were suspended as much as 300 ft. above the ground where the
exhilarating feeling of soaring through the air can take your breath away.
Don't worry about whether the harness can hold your weight!  Imagine the
incredible and spectacular scenery as you soar through the leaf covered
tree tops; we slid over a pond and animals were scurrying about.  The
landscape and the long shadows made by the trees in the sun were
spectacular.  With some of the trees having lost their leaves, as you zip

    When we finished the course we were exhausted and all our hearts were
pounding it was an amazing trip.  We were all hungry and on the way home we
stopped at this little mom and pop restaurant for lunch.  You know one of
those cozy little country places.  We sat altogether and ordered sandwiches
and soda.  We were just having the best time and talking about the zip
line.  I saw Garret touch Ian a few times, like bump his hand and smile.  I
was not the only one to notice.  Almost across from us were two rough
looking "rednecks" and we heard them say to waitress . . . "Hey Dotty we
didn't know you served `fags' better throw their plates out."

   Ian looked very upset and Garret turned bright red.  I quickly told the
boys to be quiet I didn't want any trouble.  I called the waitress and
asked for the check.  She went back to the counter and made out the check
and brought it to the table with a piece of pie for each of us . . . on the
check the total was zero, no charge and an apology for what was said.  She
then did something that took us by surprise.

   The waitress, Dotty, went to clear the other table with the two rednecks
and as she picked up his plate with the water glass it tipped and spilt in
his lap.  He was pissed, she was very apologetic, and we were thrilled but
remained without expression.  The two hateful less than educated cavemen
left with a few unpleasant words.  Dotty looked out the window and saw that
they drove away and in an opposite direction than we needed to take.  She
again apologized for the incident.  No check for our lunch but I left a
$20.00 tip.

   On the ride home everyone was rather quite so when I found a good place
to pull over I did.  I said if we let what was said bother us then they
win.  If we realize that there are people in this world like that because
they are ignorant and we simply ignore them, as difficult as that may be,
we win because we are better than that.  Now that being said imagine the
hurt Kori, Garret and Ian felt; I am not sure about Peter and I really
don't know what Liam is thinking.  Personally I was deeply hurt for my boys
and myself.

   When we arrived home it was gather the bikes and we went to the Crow
Hill road and parked at the trail for Holly Hill.  A good afternoon in the
fresh air and a good hard workout is what we need and we can all rest when
Ian is having the afternoon lesson.

   I think I said something about a hard workout, which was just me being
stupid again.  We started out on a nice trail and of course in just a
matter of minutes we were on that uphill climb.  Kori was calling me a wimp
and Peter and Ian were way out ahead.  All I know is that I am looking
forward to getting to the waterfall and the little pond and a good swim.

   Liam was with me all the way and I had been thinking of him since we
left that little lunch spot.  Liam is very smart and most of the time when
he is being the center of attention it is because he wants to be.  Then
there are these times when Liam is quiet and he doesn't say much like this
afternoon.  I would like to know if what was said is bothering him or if he
really heard or did he dismiss it and is just thinking of something else.

   Liam is an amazing kid and so much fun and it really shows when he
smiles and you see those cute dimples; especially the one on his left side.
My thoughts were broken when I heard Garret holler out . . . "Black Bear!"
And damn . . .  it was on the other side of the meadow.  We all made lots
of noise and the bear took off into the woods.  This year we have seen more
black bear near here.  We continued on till we reached the pond and
waterfall.  It was so nice and cool at this spot and we were all hot and
ready for a swim.

   The choice was swimsuit or skinny dip.  I chose swimsuit well I thought
Liam would be swimsuit as well but he was the first one naked and in the
water and we were all laughing.  So I was the only one sitting by the pond
in a swim suit.  Then the teasing started and the boys were relentless.
Now I don't remember the last time I got pantsed but I will remember this
one and who participated.  Ian and Peter held me while Kori, Garret and
Liam pulled my cycle shorts off. ......  Akkk . . .  I'm naked too.

   We were all in the water and having a good swim and just messing around
when he heard voices.  Oh Sh _ _!  From the uphill trail we see this couple
in their 60s come walking right around the edge of the pond and asking us
how the water was.  Liam was hiding behind me and Ian the "now" big mouth
starts a conversation telling them about the bike ride and how great the
water is.  I just want him to shut up!

   Ok so now this appears to be a social event as several of my group has
joined in the conversation and now we're discussing the bear and the lady
is telling all about the wildflowers that were here just 5 weeks ago.  The
topic turns to the bike trail and how we had been zip lining.  As everyone
is yapping away Liam has become brave and steps out from behind me and
looks at the lady and exclaims . . .  "Yeah and this is the best spot for
skinny dipping" . . .  to which I hear Peter and Kori . . . "Shut up Liam!"

   I'm mortified but then the man said . . .  "well my little friend you're
right my wife and I have been skinny dipping here for years and if we
didn't have to get home for company we would join you."  All I could think
of . . . oh yes please go home to your company.  The couple left and the
boys were so teasing me and Ian was outright laughing at me.  He said
. . . "Jake it was so much fun to talk to the couple and watch the
expression on your face.  You looked so embarrassed."

   I told all the boys that there would be a payback for this.  We stayed
for a few more minutes and Ian and I took Liam by the hands and feet and
swung him and then threw him in the deeper water.  It all ended with a free
for all and then we just rested in the sun in the grass till we were dry.
It was time to get on the bikes and head for the truck.

   We had the best ride back to the truck and it was laughing all the way.
The bikes loaded we headed for home.  We pulled in the drive and around to
the back door.  We were in such a good mood.  It was time to just put
things away and the lesson time.  Peter stayed for the night so he was in
the lesson too.

   I heard Ian start . . . Je me suis amusé aujourd'hui = I had fun
today, then the boys all repeated it.  Then the boys said some other stuff
they have learned with Ian in French and I had no idea what they were
saying but it sure brought laughs.  I started to get things ready for
loaded burgers and he was telling the boys about ancient Greece . . .  In
ancient times Athenian boys went to school at the age of 7 much like you
just a later and at the same age, soldiers took Spartan boys from their
mothers, housed them in a dormitory with other boys and trained them as
soldiers.  Spartan men were not allowed to live with their families until
they left their active military service at age 30.  Wowww they were already
old Liam said.  So I'm almost 24 and Liam thinks I'm old.

   So to end the lesson for today Ian told the boys that in ancient Greece,
people used to go to the gym naked.  In fact, the word "gymnasium" means
"school for naked exercise."  But I guess Jake might let you do that at
home but for gym or exercise at school you better keep your clothes on.  At
that point I could have strangled Ian because we all knew what would come
next and . . . it did!  Liam was naked in two seconds and doing cartwheels
and handstands on the porch.

   I ran out of the kitchen looked at Ian and said you catch him and put
his clothes on.  My mind went to the thought of . . . What if Helen drove
in or Edith now that would be a little hard to explain.  I asked Kori to
start the grill and for the boys to get the table ready.  Fat burgers as
the boys call them.  Ian and Peter were cooking and Kori and Garret were
fixing everything else.  Liam was hanging by me and I kept tickling him
just to hear his giggles.

   We sat for dinner and for some reason Garret started laughing.  That got
Kori and Peter laughing but I don't think they even knew what Garret was
laughing about.  As it turned out Garret had this picture of us this
afternoon naked in the pond when the couple came by; but what it was really
about was my embarrassment when it happened.  Then came why Garret thought
it was hysterical . . . It seems that I didn't realize that I was standing
and the water just barely covered my "thing" but Garret was the only one
that could see from where he was standing.

   Oh then everyone was laughing but it got hilarious when Peter said
. . . "Jake I bet that lady could see your "thing" and that is why she
stayed talking so much . . . ."  Oh Geeez the boys were cracking up because
I gave some old lady a thrill, well it wasn't much of a thrill because it
ain't that big!

   After dinner we decided to play horse shoes with 2 teams. Team 1 Kori,
Peter and me, Team 2 Ian, Liam and Garret.  We played 5 games best 2 out of
3 were the winners and the losers had to clean the dishes and kitchen.  I'm
so happy and so are Kori and Peter we had the night off.  Kori and Peter
went and played X-box and I enjoyed just sitting on the porch and watching
the horses till dark.  Tomorrow Garret is going with Neil to help over at
his father's place.

   The boys did a great job and everything was all cleaned up.  With
everything finished we decided to go for a walk and on the way back we did
early chores.  The rest of the night was what anybody wanted to do.
Garret, Ian and Liam watched a movie and Kori and Peter went back and
continued playing X-box.

   It was about 10:15 and Kori and Peter wanted their shower and so did Ian
and garret.  I told Peter and Kori to use my shower and Garret and Ian went
to use the boy's room shower.  Liam said . . . "Jake let's go take a shower
with Peter and Kori."  Hmmm interesting idea but I told Liam that we would
have more fun if we took our shower last.  With that Liam was all giggles
and said he wanted a bath with bubbles and I agreed.  I was wondering what
the sleeping arrangements would be but decided that Liam would be with me
in the big bed.

   As I expected Kori and Peter came from the master bath and said they
were tired and were going to bed.  I wished them a goodnight and said . . .
"Oh don't forget to put your underwear on."  And that just got a cheeky
smile from them.  I don't know what other families would do in this
situation but why deny it if I made them put underwear on they would just
take them off when they were sure I was in bed.

   Soon Garret and Ian came out to say goodnight and I had to laugh a
little.  Garret was already a little excited and Ian had a sly smile too.
Well that left Liam and me so it was off to the tub.  I had the bubbles to
the top of the tub and all you could see was that sweet smile and two cute
little dimples.  Liam looked so cute and as he does he was sitting there
singing this cute little song.  The bear went over the mountain, to see
what he could see, the other side of the mountain, was all that he could
see.

   I stepped in behind Liam and began to lather his head in apple shampoo
and he just kept right on singing that song.  I began to wonder why Liam
sings finally I had to ask . . . "Liam why do you always sing that song
when you're having your bath?"  The answer hit me like I had been hit with
a bat and the tears were instant. . . . Liam said . . . "so it doesn't
hurt" .......I said . . . "Liam taking a bath doesn't hurt."  He said
. . . "no not here but it did at that other house before you took me."

   Liam had not only been hit, beaten and bruised but he had been abused in
the tub and his way of dealing with the pain was to sing.  I held Liam and
learned his song and we sang together.  I will never let Liam go!  We sat
and played in the water and I tickled and kissed him and told him over and
over that I loved him.  Liam turned and kissed me on the nose and said
. . . "I know Jake you're like my dad now."  Now that was the first time I
heard that and it hit hard.  It made me feel so different.  Not just his
guardian.

   Liam and I dried and off we went to bed.  Liam likes his Superman
underwear and just is way cute in those.  I scooped him up and nibbled at
him and gave him those sloppy kisses and he was giggling and pretending
that it was all so disgusting.  We pulled the covers up and I hugged him
tightly and kissed is neck 15 or 20 times and I could feel his little body
relax and he was soon asleep.

   I think it was about 12:30 or 1:00 and I felt the covers move and . . .
What?  . . . Peter and Kori were getting in bed, Again ...  I turned and
said . . .  "Hey why don't you guys go back and sleep in your bed?"  Then
Peter looked at me and said . . . "we're afraid of the dark and want to
sleep here."  Ok don't wake Liam, ........... afraid of the dark my a_ _!

   I understand maybe Kori but Peter too?  The boys are so relaxed and
comfortable with me that they just enjoy all being together; even naked.
Well Liam and I have underwear on and the other two well . . .  I give
up. Soon I felt Kori as his hand was across my side and rubbing my stomach
and moving in "that" direction . . .  I moved it back and he started moving
it again down past my belly button . . .  then he got slapped!

   His lips moved to my ear and whispered . . . "Jake we all love you but I
love you the most."  I turned and kissed him and said goodnight.  I slept
till about 4am then had to pee.  As I was returning to bed Peter was on his
way to go pee, he was not the least bit shy that he had an erection, he
stopped and told me he loved staying over with us then he kissed me like
Kori does and just went pee.

   I have no idea what will happen as years pass.  Is Kori gay or bi, and
how about Peter who I can't figure out at all?  It just appears that the
boys all the boys feel that here they can be who they are and don't have to
pretend to be something they aren't.

We slept till the sun told us it was time to rise and shine
