It hit me Liam was in the kitchen by himself and had made me coffee. I was up in a flash and ran to the bathroom and soon was in the kitchen with rug-rat. Hey he had the table set, coffee made, and eggs and bacon on the counter. Wowww! Liam was dressed in shorts and t-shirt and a very happy and proud expression on his face. I've learned my lesson and was dressed much the same. Breakfast was bacon, scrambled eggs, toast with strawberry jam, OJ, Coffee and hot chocolate and lots of smiles. Liam was jabbering away about this and that then let me know we had chores to do first. I had to think is this really Liam? He was all business this morning. The day started great and we turned the horses out cleaned the barn and were back in the house. Showers finished and we were in sweatpants and t-shirts when there was a knock at the back door. I was very surprised when I opened the door and it was the lady from State Child Services. Liam looked panicked but just moved slightly behind me. I asked her to please join us in the kitchen and offered her coffee or OJ. She was happy to have coffee and then looked at Liam and said . . . "Liam you have grown and look so good." Liam smiled . . . She continued . . . "Liam I was talking to Mr. Ito the other day and he said you were taking flute lessons I am so proud of you." Liam was all smiles now and excused himself and said . . . "Thank you I have to go practice now." Well he didn't really have go right this minute but I think he wanted to show off a little and was gone to his room. This gave the lady the opportunity to explain why she had stopped to speak to me. "Mr. Roberts we are so pleased with how Liam and Kori are doing with you they are shining in every way. Even the judge has remarked how the community has witnessed their growth." Now this is sounding very nice but I think it is time to cut to the chase. She continued ......... "Well I was just finishing some home visits and as I passed your house I thought would stop and let you know how pleased everyone is with the boys in your care. Oh .... One other thing if we were in need of a temporary emergency placement would you be interested?" Ahhhhh! Now the real reason for the unscheduled visit; I said . . . "If it were an emergency then certainly you could call me. Liam appeared magically just as she was about to leave and got a hug from someone he didn't really care for. We waved goodbye as she left and then Liam played 100 questions with me. He came up with more questions than I could have imagined. The phone rang and it was Kori and he was ready to come home along with Peter. Liam and I jumped in the truck and ran over to the Ito's to get Kori and Peter. It looks like all the boys have had a great time. Ian caught my attention and asked if there was a time that he could visit. I told Ian anytime he wanted. He said maybe around 3 when Garret and Riku are practicing and I said that was perfect. We were home and Liam was telling Kori and Peter all about our visitor this morning. At first Kori looked shook till Liam told him about what the judge and Mr. Ito said. Liam was off to the trains and Kori and Peter went to the boy's room and I could hear the clarinet. It is funny how Peter shows up then Neil or Neil shows up then Peter. Neil was here to show me the plans for the practice room and it will be done and all finished in two days including a 24 x 36 inch soundproof window in the door. We sat and had coffee and then Neil wanted to show me a surprise for Liam that he and Peter have been working on. Out of the bag came 6 houses, a gas station, and an old fashion fire house. As Neil was showing me all the new buildings Ian arrived. Neil headed upstairs with the things for Liam and Ian sat down to talk to me. It was very obvious that Ian needed to get something off his chest. Ian began . . . "Jake you know how much I love Garret well the thing is I'm getting ready to go back to school and ........ well as much as I love him I think I" .......... Ian was having a real problem getting to the point and I knew where this was going. Ian continued . . . "Jake I don't want to hurt Garret he is a sweet and loveable "kid" but I think I would like someone my own age." I was right in my thought and this is going to be difficult for both Ian and especially Garret. I looked at Ian and said . . . "Ian there is no simple way out of this. For now try to be as sensitive to Garret's feelings as you can. I think when you get back to school Garret will begin to feel the distance as you and he will both be busy but you need to know he will feel the loss as you two have been together all this time." I knew what Ian was hoping for was for me to say . . . "well you can move back here in the guest room" . . . but that would be like just dumping Garret. Ian needs to let this continue till he goes back to school and stay at the Ito's till then. I think it will hurt Garret less if things just slowly move apart as they both become busy at school. The afternoon moved toward dinner time and Liam dragged me, Peter and Kori upstairs to see the new buildings on the layout and to thank Peter for helping build everything. Peter gave Liam a hug and messed his hair and Liam punched Peter in the arm affectionately. Neil told Peter he was heading home and would give him a ride. Umm I think Neil was having dinner at Peter's house. Liam, Kori and I were feeling good like contented and it was nice to be just the three of us in the house and for dinner. The boys headed to play games on the X-box and I was trying to catch up on some paperwork in the den. I got was on the laptop when I received an email from Jonah, Simon, and Peter. I called Liam and Kori . . . "Hey boys we have an email from Jonah and the boys" Kori and Liam came running and we all read the email together --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Jake Harrow December 2018 Just a few lines to say how fantastic it was sharing Christmas with you, Kori and Liam. It really did seem too quiet here after you left. I shall be writing to the Professor to thank him for thinking of us, and initiating the most delightful adventure. My boys were inconsolable for a day or two after you flew back to America. I do hope you had a good flight home. Jake, it's Simon, I want to tell you we had the greatest holiday and tell Kori I love him and want to be with him and have his babies, and .... Hi Jake, it's me again. I'm currently sitting on Simon, and when I finish this letter I will be explaining to him that he will not be having anybody's babies and that it is OK to be best friends with somebody. Come to think of it, I'll explain that last part to me as well. Peter wanted to tell Liam that he went to Kings Cross again the day after Boxing Day and found some of those thirty year old High Speed Trains still working. I didn't go because Joe offered to take him, but I've had to promise to take the boys to see a steam railway in the New Year. Simon has been causing havoc with his drone. I do thank you for that. Joe and Miriam and little Jacob are no longer with us because Monica thought the district nurse would complain about overcrowding here. She said she had plenty of room in her bungalow in Pinner. They have moved there and Joe has made a few job applications. One has replied already and seems really interested. I think the new arrangement will work out well for all of them. Well that's all the news from here, so it only remains to wish you and all your loved ones a very Happy New Year. Best wishes Jonah, Simon and Peter. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Kori was a little red as he looked at me and said . . . "I need to write to Simon . . . . we didn't do anything Jake honest we just fooled around a little he's not circumcised" ( I don't know what that has to do with it neither is Riku) . . . Liam smiled a kind of devilish smile . . . (hmmm what was that smile about?) but he wanted to tell Peter all about his new trains and flute lessons. I said after dinner we can sit and write a nice email to Jonah, and the boys. I asked Kori and Liam what they wanted for dinner and it could not be pizza I said something more like a real dinner. Maybe I shouldn't have asked. The request was oven roasted chicken, baked potatoes butternut squash, cranberry sauce and apple pie. The apple pie was easy it was in the freezer. Ok the boys were right and it became a team effort. One thing I know I can count on is that these two boys will grow up knowing how to cook and they won't be spending all their money at fast food restaurants. Dinner was real good and it was a ton of fun to all do it together. Liam likes cranberry sauce on toast just like jam . . . . Ok he's a kid. We finished everything up and the kitchen was clean and now off to email Jonah, Simon, and Peter. New Years Greetings to Jonah, Simon, and Peter. Thank you so much for your email we all enjoyed the news from your side of the pond. I was happy to hear the Joe, Miriam, and little Jacob have moved in with Monica. One thing for sure Monica will keep everyone in toe and the baby will have the best of care. It was good news that Joe is seeing some interest in his talent and perhaps will have them all on their way to much better conditions. It is also good for Monica to have Joe and Miriam I think she needs a family as much as they needed her. Jonah I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed Christmas with you and the boys. Kori and Liam keep mentioning little things they think of that they never dreamed of. Carols at kings was amazing thank you so much. I think the biggest thing the boys discovered was that Christmas with you and all the friends was that it seemed to be a real Christmas rather than what appears so much more commercial here. I know that with me as Godfather to Jacob we will always continue to be family. It is something neither of us ever thought of when Professor suggested our visit. Well I think I will go do chores and let Kori and Liam finish the email and send it on its way. So here is wishing you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. My very best, Love Jake. Kori here . . . . Hi Jonah, Simon, and Peter, Woww thanks so much for a great Christmas. Simon thanks for making me feel like we had been best friends forever. I am so happy you have been having fun with the drone. I never told Jonah about flying it when he and Joe were out. Oh, BTW I'm not having any babies with anyone! And Stop laughing and I know you are. Jake promised me I can have my own email account, but it comes with a list of things I can't do, I'll give you my email address when I get it then we can email. Like now I'm absolutely forbidden from any porn sites, like I haven't seen stuff already with Garret and Riku. Riku taught me and Peter here something new but I can't tell you in the email; hehehe ............. Liam is screaming it is his turn, be good if you can .......... Nah, just be you.... Liam here; Jonah, Simon and Peter . . . . Peter I miss you. Simon you have the same problem Kori has ...... you always have a stiffy n Jake says take a cold shower! Jonah I miss having my feet rubbed and Kori won't do it so send him and email and tell he has to. Hey Peter guess what? I gots trains and Jakes friend Neil has made me a big layout n I hope you can see it when you guys come here. Kori is taking clarinet lessons and I am taking flute lessons . . . . Hey not that kind of flute, the one that plays in band silly. We gots a sleigh and me and Kori can almost hitch it up by ourselves and its great fun to go for a ride in the snow. Oh I almost forgot I got a girlfriend her name is Abby and she has been here for the day and we had lots of fun. Peter no not fun like you and I had I mean fun like we played with the trains and we went horseback riding and Jake was real nice to her and made her favorite snacks; but Peter we had more fun cause you're like my best `boy' friend, no not a boyfriend a `BOY' friend. Anyway I really had a great time with you at Christmas, big hugs, Liam. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ From: Jacob Lion to all my faithful readers; I want to first wish each and everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year.
