A Neglected Boy "The Twins" CIV jacoblion@tutanota.com This Chapter is told by Jake Captain Kori was, as usual, barking out orders. ... "Keith, stop fooling around with Lorenzo, and Ethan can't you and Antonio finish getting the coolers on the bus? ... Jake wants to be on the road by 6 and it's not our fault you guys decided to mess around half the night." That was interesting how Kori made it all about me wanting to be on the road by 6 ... as I remember, it was Kori who decided to be on the road before the sun peeked through the darkness of the night. It doesn't make any difference now everyone is up, not necessarily awake, and trying to comply with all the orders being barked by our `Captain' and that includes me along with Penny and Silence. I love it when Kori seems to think he's the only one that tells the Whippets "Go pee" and they do; ... we all use that command. ... It works! In unison ~ "I'm tired", so am I Kyle and Justin ... so maybe you'll actually get some sleep tonight, ... I said that in my best cheerful voice. Then saw the expression of guilt on "The Twins" faces, but that turned quickly to a rather `cheeky' little grin. The bus finally packed, dogs in their harnesses, snack cooler at the ready, and it was time to get this ship underway. It was Kori, me, the preteens, and teen crew off on another adventure. I looked around at the smiling faces. The oldest was Ethan then Keith, those two only a few months apart, followed by Antonio, Kris, Lorenzo, Lukas, and Lars, and then youngest and sometimes the horniest, Marco, Justin and Kyle. I had second thoughts about this adventure but Kori already had the bus on the street and heading for somewhere into the unknown. I guess I'll just have to deal with whatever happens. I don't think it could be worse than what Kori, Peter, Riku, and Garret used to do when they thought I wasn't looking. ... If they only knew. I'm not sure who was worse Peter or Riku. Kori and I had wanted the boys to see something new but it could only be a 3-day adventure. We didn't want them to know where we were going and to make it interesting, we made it into a game. We gave them no hints only this information. The trip would be 3-days, only 3 days. It was someplace they had never seen. It was not a University or an amusement park. That was all the info ... so go figure is all we told them. To make matters more interesting they could not use a map or a computer, tablet, or phone. (they all have smartphones) All they get is the view out the window. Kori was surprised not one of the little brats or Keith or Ethan had any complaint. There did seem to be some kind of competition as to `what' who guessed the destination correctly would get. I don't think it was money, but I did see that `wicked smile' Antonio had. The agreement between me and Kori was that we would each drive about 3-hours and hope that would bring us to our destination. Kori had just turned onto Massachusetts 116N heading toward Plainfield and Savoy and US route 7 West. I noticed Ethan taking notes on a piece of paper ... smart, but I took the paper and put it in my pocket. All pissed off he was. "Oh, so you get to make up the rules as we go?" ... no Ethan, there are no rules except 1 ... you get to guess using nothing other than your brain. That got comments from several of our little tyrants about that not being fair because Ethan has a bigger brain than Marco and Lars. That comment brought about ... "Yeah, his brain might be big but his dick isn't". Everyone was laughing ... "it's bigger than yours Marco" ... is what Kyle said ... "You should know Kyle you suck it every chance you get" ... said Lukas. ... The bantering continued, and I know I should have stopped the remarks but that's what boys do. I was sitting in the small jump seat just behind Kori. The driver has a rear-view mirror that looks back toward the midsection seating and all the way back to the bunkhouse. Looking in the mirror gave me a view of the boys and the way the mirror is positioned I could see everyone from about their knees up. Ethan, and Keith, along with the other boys were wearing sweatpants. They're great for traveling especially in cool weather. Kyle was sitting next to Ethan, both in light gray sweatpants, while this bantering was going on. When we started the boys set the long table between the seating areas so they could have snacks or play a game. Yes, they played `touchy-feely'. I think Kyle, or maybe some others, thought that with the tables set like this it wasn't possible to see if anyone was getting a boner. Well, with all the sex talk about this and that I guess Kyle got a little horny and had moved his hand over to the front of Ethan's sweatpants. At first, I wasn't sure if Kyle was really doing what I thought he was. The small dark wet spot was becoming more obvious on the front of Ethan's light gray sweatpants. Ethan looked a little flushed. There was no doubt Kyle was slowly rubbing Ethan's dick and the wet spot was getting bigger. Kris was sitting directly across from Ethan. ... He shouldn't have, but he did. He leaned down under the table and looked across at what Kyle was doing. ... ... He really shouldn't have done that because then several others did the same. ... ... "OMG" Lars said ... but it was Marco that finished it with "Kyle's jerking Ethan. Now everyone was looking under the table. Ethan and Kyle were in a very embarrassing situation ... thankfully Keith came to the rescue shouting that we had just turned onto I90 west at Albany, New York. ... Ok, some of the boys looked out the window ... some didn't (don't ask why they didn't look out the window you already know) ... as for Ethan ... well, let's just say Kyle finished what he started; Antonio, with a smirk, passed Ethan a couple of paper towels. Keith quickly suggested that they all watch a video. Justin and Lars were first to shout "The Hobbit". I guess the guessing game took a back seat to the movie. Soon everyone was glued to the large screen as it began to play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85gVFD7Dqwk&ab_channel=MapleFilms Now, everything that had happened was forgotten ... I think. "Dad, maybe we could have some popcorn?" ... Ok Justin, ask Keith he's right next to the microwave and I'm about to trade seats with Kori it's my turn to drive. I had to ask if anyone had any idea where we're going ... that's right I had to ask ... hmm, no answers. Honestly, at the time I didn't even exist. Something like out of sight out of mind, unless you want popcorn then I'm important or at least they realize I'm still on the bus. I had only been driving about 15 minutes when I realized how quiet it had become. I glanced in the mirror and my suspicions were correct. Most were asleep. We were approaching Syracuse, New York when I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. "Sorry Dad, but I figured out, some time ago, where we are going. It's Niagara Falls ... right?" ... Yes, Ethan and just how did you know? ... "Easy Dad, you guys told us only 3-days, and we have to get Antonio, Kris, Lorenzo, Marco, Lars and Lukas back." ... Very good Ethan, very smart. I bet you're disappointed not to have them along for a few more days. "Nope, not at all Dad, ... Keith, Kyle and Justin feel the same. We all are looking at getting on the road with just us. Thanksgiving was amazing and seeing Deputy Morgan, Helen, Calvin and Bret was fantastic but it seems like we never have enough time with you and Kori. I'm not supposed to tell you ... but, Kyle and Justin didn't want the others on the trip." I had to smile at what Ethan was saying, but what's up with him calling me Dad all of a sudden. Every so often sure that has been the norm; but 3 or 4 times in 2 minutes? Ethan kissed the top of my head ... then he was gone. Hmm, interesting dealing with this group, now what does he want? We passed Rochester, New York, and were on Route 290 then 190, and now only 30 minutes till we arrive at the `Falls'. ... "I love you Dad", ... Ok Ethan smart ass ... get the boys awake I'm sure they can read the signs to Niagara Falls exit "Two Miles" oh, make sure they have backpacks ready. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsybdnAe7I0&ab_channel=LiveViewCity ... It seemed that Penny and Silence were more excited than the rest of the crew. ... "I gotta pee" was a common exclamation. There was a line down the hall to the restroom. Two by two in and out ... they all had smiles. Excitement, no-stop chatter ... I think they're awake and someone spotted the observation tower then Kris and Antonio pointed out the SkyWheel and the Trolley. Geeeeze, let me get the bus parked before you try getting off. Kori was trying to get the crew organized, but someone would see something new and the organization just fell apart. They were so excited. You'd think Keith and Ethan would help Kori ... yes, you'd think that but think again ... they were as bad as the younger ones. I paid the parking admission just as Lorenzo spotted the sign for the `Maid of the Mist Boat Tour' ... Yes, yes Lorenzo we are going on that and many other things. Kori finally shifted into his `command' personality. Things quickly shifted from `total chaos' to some sort of military formation. All I could hear was the sound of breathing and loud hearts beating. The excitement. Sometimes Kori is just as bad as the boys especially when it comes to keeping a secret. He just couldn't contain himself and now he had their complete attention he spilled the beans, so to speak, and told them that as a surprise we had booked us into the Hyatt Place which is right next to The Hard Rock Café. Yes, yes, yes known for Rock Music and great food. Kori is just like a kid! ... Oh, that military formation I was talking about, well, it just fell apart right back into `total chaos'. I had to help regain some type of order or we'd never get off the bus. The decision was to ride the SkyWheel first so we could get a look at the surrounding area. Second, `Maid of the Mist' and there came a problem. We were in line for tickets and Justin and Kyle were looking at the posters with Keith. These are those very large posters. Kori was next in line and ready to purchase the tickets when Keith said ... "Kori just buy 9 tickets ... I'll stay here with Justin and Kyle." ... Kori was about to say something then stopped and quickly said . . . . "Thanks Keith that's probably a good idea, those two munchkins do have a tendency to get a little motion sick ... anyone else want to stay on dry land?" Kori handled that perfectly. I think what was surprising was that none of the boys teased Justin or Kyle or Keith for staying on dry ground. When Peter and Neil made the compasses for the boys and told them it made them all brothers, I think he knew the love each of them has for each other. I know at times they tease each other for some stupid things but, they all knew the fear that Justin and Kyle had. ... ... Standing at rail Justin, Kyle and Keith waved as we boarded `The Maid of the Mist'. The boat was half empty so there was plenty of room at the rail. Cameras were ready. The boat began to pull away from the dock and already it was rocking. This wasn't any gentle rock and there would be no sleeping ... no, this was a `hold on for dear life' rock and now I know why we had life jackets. We began to approach the falls, immediately the wind lifted the raincoat, not just mine but all of ours. Some of our crew was laughing, it was so cold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl2t3fa32OI&ab_channel=CherryKunniVlogsandCollections After 10-seconds being drenched with ice-cold water the laughing stopped and teeth chattering started. There was no chance of anything getting puffed up, right now they'd be hard to find. The tour was amazing, according to most of the boys, for Kori and I it seemed a little long and very cold ... I said it was very cold! Back on dry land, we all watched the video that Kyle, Justin, and Keith took of us as we adventured rather close to the falls, and getting what I assume is part of the voyage, a very good soaking. We hurried back to the bus for some dry clothes and a tour of the immediate area with Penny and Silence, they were so relieved. The trolly was next ... yes, we were pretending to be tourists and we were having fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdmalnWOg5g&ab_channel=WKBWTV%7CBuffalo%2CNY now if you watch the video pay attention to the bell ringing at - :13 seconds because when Antonio and Kris spotted the Trolly driver ring the bell Antonio, not so softly, said .... "Ethan did you see how he grabbed that bell handle? I bet he's as good as Kyle." I'm sure everyone on the bus heard Antonio and we only hope that it was only our crew that knew what he was talking about. Kyle showed Antonio his fist then gave it a little shaking motion. Our crew was trying to be good but sometimes little things happen; fortunately, only 4 other boys on the trolly, who were about 11 or 12, noticed and gave Kyle a thumbs up. It was time to check-in at the Hyatt but first a quick trip back to the bus for clean clothes and a reminder for the boys. "Ok boys listen up" and that was as far as Kori got when Ethan and Keith interrupted and it was Keith who did the talking . . . . "We know what you're going to say and it's all about how you want us to behave. Always use `please and thank you' ... make sure to unfold the `linen dinner napkin' and place it across our laps, and it's not to hide the occasional stiffy" ... that brought giggles, smirks and one kid who just had to laugh ... Kyle. Keith, looking directly at Kori and me, continued ... "Don't hit on the busboy and for heavens sakes, no sex in the rooms, does that cover what you were going to lecture us about "Dad"? and the Dad was certainly emphasized ... more so with the chuckles from the peanut gallery. Kori said "Well, thanks Keith and Ethan for your thoughts but, No, that isn't what I was going to say. I knew you would all be on your best behavior. I just was going to say ... don't forget your swimsuits." ... ... The laughing began ... like that tween and teen crew didn't believe a word that Kori just said. He wasn't just reminding them about swimsuits, no, no ... he was going straight into the behavior lecture but Keith beat him to it. We were off to the Hyatt. As we approached the Doorman opened and held the door. Kori and I had to chuckle because as the crew entered, they were in silent amazement at the beauty of this place. I've never heard them this quiet, except when they were sleeping. Justin and Kyle had moved up and were standing very close to Kori and me. I glanced over at Kyle as he tugged at Kori's sweater and I heard him ask ... ... "Dad, are we really staying here?" ... it's not that we haven't stayed in some really nice places but this absolutely was the best ever. Kori asked Kyle to stay with us as he walked to the front desk hospitality check-in area. It was so simple he just passed his smartphone to the `Hospitality Host. The attendant turned and handed Kori the 3 room keycards. A very nice young man, handsome young man about 19 or maybe 20 helped us to the elevator, and then showed us to our rooms. Interesting how handsome young men can grab your attention. Certainly, he had Kori's attention, my attention, Ethan's attention, Antonio's attention, and then as he opened the first door to the older teen's room, I noticed that his attention was directed to Kris. In fact, as Kori and I saw the situation, Kris had his complete attention and for just a few seconds no one else even existed. I think this bellhop had x-ray vision, and at the moment Kris was most likely completely naked. Antonio loudly cleared his throat, and according to his employee badge `Philip', our handsome attendant quickly regained consciousness and handed the room keycard to Ethan. That was a little awkward ... not nearly as awkward as when Lars said to Marco .... "look at the front of his pants", and in a voice that everyone could hear. Philip turned bright red and tried to adjust things ... "Oooo, someone got a ..." "shut up Lorenzo" Keith said. As Philip opened the door to Kori's and my room, I quickly passed him a $50.00 dollar bill and told him no worries and that it happens all the time. He was blushing and tried his best to disappear without any further embarrassment ... no such luck. ... Kris was standing at the door eyes glued on Philip and whispered something to him as he passed; I also noticed his hand as it brushed the front of Philip's thin dress uniform pants. I'll remind Kris of the agreement, the agreement, the agreement! We had a little time to clean up and then it was off to Hard Rock Café. Twenty minutes later and here we are just inside the Café and waiting to be seated. Table for 12 please ... just a few minutes was the answer ... Antonio wanted to know the definition of ... `just a few minutes' that was 20 minutes after we were told `just a few minutes'. Yes, there was a band playing ... oh yes, a very loud band playing very loud rock with a singer pretending to sing. We ordered Nachos. Thirty minutes later we were back at the dining room at the Hyatt. Dinner was burgers, hot wings and Kori and I enjoyed backed salmon in lemon butter. How to describe our `real' dinner `Excellent' and Kori and I have no idea how the boys finished those burgers they were huge. We decided a walk would be a good idea and Penny and Silence agreed. The whippets were perfectly happy with our accommodations and every time we went out or returned the concierge had little treats for our K9 guests. Time for games was the suggestion of the tweens as all the rooms are equipped with gaming stations. ... Let's see how long that lasted. Kori and I were relaxing and enjoying a movie, an old James Bond movie, when there was a quiet knock on the door. Not one, but 3 teens had been selected to ask if all the boys could go for a swim. Kori said ... "sure, be back before 11 and absolutely no running at the pool and no diving either!" Foxy the other 7 boys were in the hall just out of sight and already had towels and in their Speedos ... what a great sight `young athletic boys in Speedos'. It was a little after 9 when Kori suggested we get some photos of the boys at the pool. We arrived to find the pool had plenty of activity. Not just our boys ... nope ... there were about a dozen other kids and they were all having a great time. I guess it was a game of tag or keep away the way they were tossing that ball. Almost looked like water polo or volleyball. Kori was snapping pictures of the gang. It was so good to watch our boys; they swim like dolphins diving under the water then surfacing straight up about half the length of their bodies. As Kori and I watched the gang having fun in the pool we both were thinking of how good it was to have decided to take this trip. Kori and I walked back to our room giving the boys some time to enjoy being themselves without us looking on. I don't think they mind if Kori and I were to be around it's just they need to have that time to be brothers. We wanted the trip, with all the boys, because we know things will be so different when Antonio and Kris leave with Lorenzo and Marco, as they return to Naples, in just a few short weeks. We were at our room and Kori was just about to slide the keycard in the slot when he said . . . . "Jake I was a little surprised I didn't see Philip, I thought he'd be there for sure." ... ... hmmm I thought for a second and come to think about it I didn't see Kris either ... Kori, check the photos. It took a minute to scan the dozen or so photos. Well, ... ... we were wrong, Kori and I are almost never wrong although he did admit he had been wrong once. Over in the far corner, in the shallow end by the steps, sat Kris, Antonio, and Philip. Like teens do they were most likely just talking about teen stuff. Funny ... Kori and I had jumped to the wrong conclusion. No one could ever blame us ... not with this crew. We entered our room and were just about to have a cold drink when we heard the `tweens' Lukas, Lars, Marco, Justin, and Kyle laughing as they entered their room. Now their room is on one side of our room and the teen's room is on the other side of our room with a door that opens from our room to their rooms. Each room was very comfortable with a King Size and Queen Size bed. That was one reason why we wanted to stay at the Hyatt. They called it a `small suite' with our room also having a good-sized seating area; perhaps this was for a small business group. Kori had done his homework and it fit our needs perfectly, and the dogs were happy too. Soon there was a knock at the adjoining room door ... "can we come in?" and that was Lars who was asking. I opened the door and in piled all 5 tweens, and all talking at the same time. What Kori and I got from the excitement was that they all had a fabulous time, Marco said, and had made plans with the other boys for a rematch at this game tomorrow night. Kori went to invite Ethan and that crew over to hear their side of the story. Three teens arrived wrapped in huge towels. Lorenzo let us know they were just about to take a shower. ... ... "So, where are Kris and Antonio, are they already in the shower?" was Kori's question..... Three teens stood there looking at each other, I assume, trying to figure out how they would answer Kori's question. Finally, Keith said . . . . "Oh, they went to the steam room to warm up because they knew the three of us wanted to shower but all 5 of us can't fit in our shower." Kori looked at me, I looked at Kori, and all 5 of the tweens were giggling. Lorenzo couldn't help himself as he started to laugh and said ... "Kris and Antonio are busted." ... ... all I could say was ... I suppose they just dragged Philip along to get warm too? ... ... "You gots it Dad, ... bet they're doing more than just warming up." And that was our little big mouth Kyle. Now everyone is laughing. I thought, is it really any surprise, Kris and Antonio. Everyone is in our room, that is all but Kris and his partner, and if I heard correctly that was a knock at our door. ... Justin made a dash at the door and who was standing outside in the hallway? ... ... Yes, you guessed it ... Mr. and Mr. guilty! ... I thought their Speedos were very filled out. "Well come right in Kris and Antonio, how nice of you to join us." Said Kori. ... I was just all smiles because it seems they were being harassed by 5, 6, or 7 of the crew in the room. I think Keith was the only one not picking on them. "It's only 10:40, you said to be back before 11" said Kris in a very defensive but soft voice. ... ... I thought for a second, and before Kori or anyone else, for that matter said anything, I told Kris and Antonio they were fine no problem and yes, it's not nearly 11 ... and asked if they had a good time. Kori gave me an evil eye ... then I looked at him with one eyebrow raised, he smiled back and he knew just what I thinking. What about the times he and Peter were late ... hmmm, and we all know why don't we? I'm not sure anyone else knew why I didn't give Antonio and Kris a hard time but in seconds everything was back to normal. Ethan and Keith volunteered to take Penny and Silence out for a walk so the tweens could get ready for bed. ... Ethan and Keith don't get much time alone to just be them, I think this was one of those times when they needed a little space. Time for bed and the night was so uneventful ... ... right? ... It was uneventful until Kyle slipped in bed between Kori and I. He was alone the other little tyrant was in some unknown place perhaps dreaming about wolves, dinosaurs, or dragons. Hmmm, our bedroom door makes no noise at all and my thoughts about that other tyrant were premature. Justin was only about 3 minutes behind his brother. He did find his way to the middle of the bed next to Kyle, and now Penny and silence, who had been all happy and content on the sofa, decided they had to be next to "The Twins". Kori just had to ask the question. Yes, he did ask what was going on and why Kyle and Justin were not in with Marco, Lars, and Lukas. I don't think Kori or I would ever have imagined hearing the reason. Kyle, the tough one, sometimes, said ... "Can we go home tomorrow; my brother and I just want us ... you know" ... there was a pause and then he finished ... "you Dads, and Ethan n Keith, just us." The softer side of Kyle appears every so often. Justin was facing me, his head against my chest, I could smell strawberry shampoo, as he said ... "All this many people is really nice for maybe just 1 or 2 days, ... Ok?" I don't know what Kori was thinking at the moment but I had to wonder of something was wrong, did something happen? ... ... The boys all seem to be having a great time. Morning arrived with eight little legs pushing and cold noses poking out from under the covers. ... ... Ok, ok time to get up. Kori and I received a quick hug and some kind of something that resembled a good morning kiss or a peck on the cheek and .... `poof' .... they were gone, right into thin air. Excitement, confusion, loud talking, doors thrown open, people barreling into our room. It wasn't even a question it was more like a confrontation ... this group of hostiles demanding to know who made what decision and when it was decided that we were leaving right after breakfast. Kori and I were still pulling our boxers up. Shocked, taken off guard I think is the only way to describe my reaction to this mob. I was about to ask why the fuss ... "I told em Dad, I said we're going home we went n seen everything there is to see here and that Rocky Hard place sucked! ... they can't even sing n it's cold here." ... ... I think Kori and I wanted to laugh ... because Justin was just standing there, his hands on his hips, watching his brother deliver his little speech. Hey, team how about we talk this over at breakfast? ... and that was good thinking when Kori said that. I even spotted some smiles at the word breakfast and I heard Lorenzo, I think, say he was starving. Breakfast was in the dining-room waffles, eggs, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and of course hot chocolate and orange juice. I took advantage of the situation when most of the mouths were full and just presented the choices ... 1, stay here and pretty much walk around and then stay the night again or, 2, take a completely different route back to the farm, or 3, get on the expressway and be back in Ashfield early. ... Time for a vote. Unexpected results .... See what happens in the next chapter.
