A Neglected Boy, "The Twins" XII . . . . It was a quick 50 minute ride from Mystic home to New Haven. With everything in the house we ran out to our favorite Chinese restaurant Great Wall of China. The boys were tired and Kori and I had a chance to tell Tim and Chris all about the trip or should I say the things Kyle and Justin left out. After dinner Tim and Chris headed back to the University and Kori the boys and I were home and resting after a long day. Being on the water for hours with that fresh sea air just does something that makes it easy to fall asleep. I looked over at Kori and he along with Kyle and Justin were all asleep on the couch. I checked emails and sent a greeting to Jonah and let him know we were back and had an interesting trip that I would tell him all about it tomorrow. Gently I picked up the boys one at a time took them to their bedroom and other than a little moan they never really woke up. I shook Kori only to hear him ask . . . "Jake just let me sleep another hour" Kori must have thought it was morning so this time I gave him a good shake. Kori looked at me and said . . . . "Jake you can be so rotten at times . . . Oh sorry its only 9:30 and I thought it was morning" this time he had a big grin on his face as he admitted he was really exhausted. So here we are home and the boys were passed out from the trip and Kori and I have real time to ourselves. We looked at each other, the thought was there, and Kori said . . . "Jake, not to night I'm tired and have a headache" I laughed and said . . . "me too". Oh how cruel the sun can be. Like lightning fast daggers the sun hit the dresser mirror and was amplified as it hit my eyes. The pain, didn't it know we had been on a sea voyage that had left our bodies stiff, twisted and tortured. We needed rest a little time to recuperate a day to . . . . It was just a thought as Justin and Kyle flew through the air and landed on Kori and me. What were the first words from these little cherubs? . . . Morning? I love you? Can we snuggle with you? . . . No! first words . . . . "What's for breakfast? And can we go to the pool? Kori looked at me and winked . . . In seconds the bed looked like a war zone and the sounds of giggling and laughter combined with the grunts and groans of two adults as they unmercifully pinned and tickled and poked and even kissed these little imps. Soon Kori and I heard the all familiar words . . . . "Uncle, uncle, we give I gotta pee, I gotta pee". Pee, pee, pee ............ After listening to two little boys peeing and peeing, holy mackerel where do they keep all that pee, we enlisted their help to remake what used to be our bed. The boys were full of it today and Kori and I were punished over and over as we made the bed. By the way, after smacking Kori or me they are small enough that they could scoot under the bed and out of reach. Kyle and Justin were out from under the bed when I bribed the boys with going to the pool for the day. To make it even better I said lunch at the University dining room and that got applause from Kori. Pancakes and bacon, OJ, tea and coffee and tons of smiles finished our breakfast. Time for showers and it was all four in the tub. We were all lathered from head to toe and back to head and one more time down to toe and back up. The mouthy one, Kyle, had to ask the question . . . "why do we all get stiffies in the shower?" . . . Justin had to get in on this and said . . . "because the warm water feels great on our . . ." he looked at Kori then said . . . "penises and it tickles too." Conversation over? ..... Nope ..... Kyle wasn't satisfied but Kori stepped in and said . . . "Kyle let's get to the pool and talk about this later." Dressed and ready to go we were at the door when Kori said . . . "Justin go pee!" . . . Justin answered . . . "I don't have to." . . . "Go Pee anyway Justin so we don't have to come back in." said Kori. With that Kyle said he needed to Pee so both rugrats ran to the bathroom and were back in a flash. At the pool Justin and Kyle changed into their Speedos and they looked so cute. Kori has his favorite, red and black, my favorite is the silver and black. I do think they may need a size larger. ??? Kori and I left the boys with Tim and Chris with instructions for a full workout. The boys had been so good on the trip up from Ft. Lauderdale that Kori and I wanted to get them something special. With summer right around the corner we decided to get the boys RC Boats and off on our adventure we went. Three hours and 4 hobby stores later, and a happy credit card, we had two 22 inch River Patrol Boats. We ran by the pool and arrived as Justin and Kyle were finishing laps. Both boys looked worn, frazzled, tired but happy. Tim and Chris said the boys had a great workout and were just slightly off their time. We knew that it would only be a day or two and they would be back on top of their game. After the boys had changed we all headed to the dining room for lunch. As usual there were a number of Kyle and Justin's fans and they were off with the crew for their lunch. Kori noticed me looking at a few of the undergrads and said something but I didn't catch it. It's amazing how the undergrads love to spoil Justin and Kyle. When Kori and I look at the crew it's as if Kyle and Justin were their little brothers they get so much attention. I just thought of what the boys said one day shortly after we took them, it was just after trying to get them to calm down and I must have said something . . . . Now maybe it was the mouthy one but it was something like this ....... "You and Kori say we're cute but a handful and love attention, well Ok Jake maybe it's true but being just 9 its hard not to be cute." I remember his smile he was a little cheeky. No he was being cute. The boys and their crew made their way to our table and told Kori and I about this awesome stir-fry they just had. Then they wanted to know what we could do for the afternoon. Kori and I kept silent about what was in the SUV and suggested a quick trip home then perhaps a movie. We said goodbye to the boys' crew and headed home to see what trouble we could get into. We were only home a few minutes when Kori asked the boys if they would please bring up the things we bought when shopping. Kyle and Justin ran to the SUV to get things from the back while Kori and I watched from the window. The back hatch lifted . . . . Justin and Kyle froze for a second, turned to look at the house .......... Grabbed the boxes and were in the living room in seconds. The boys were all smiles and Kori and I reaped the reward. It was hugs, more hugs and even a kiss then more hugs. Now a boat for each and of course they wanted to play with them right away ............ disappointment !! Must read directions, charge batteries then find a good place to launch the boats. Mystic here we come, tomorrow. ........ Nope sooner. We sat with the boys and read all the directions. A little explanation here ...... sitting with the boys can be very interesting, first they wanted to show their appreciation for the boats so it was lots of hugs, a little poking here and there and 9 year olds like to whisper in your ears a lot. I think Kori and I heard "thanks, it's just what I wanted, you're the best, I love you, when will the batteries be ready? ...... Can we go now?" .... about 50 times. Geeeeezzzzzzz ......... The green light Kyle and Justin knew what the green light indicated and they were ready to go. We got to the door and Kori said . . . "Go Pee!" It was the sound of rugrats scampering down the hall and both were on the way back pulling up their zippers as they walked. I had to laugh when Kori said . . . "Hey stop and pull the zippers up standing still so you don't get your Christmas tree caught." The boys just gave Kori a funny look. They will figure it out someday. It was a quick ride to Mystic thank goodness as the jabbering was unending and a little loud. We arrived at Mystic and right next to our boat was the perfect place to launch their new boats. The remainder of the afternoon the boys played with their new River Patrol Boats as Kori and I watched from the cockpit of the boat. Batteries died and it was time for dinner so off we went to S&P Oyster Bar a favorite in Mystic. This is a great restaurant right on the river with spectacular views and a beautiful setting. The oysters were fresh and we all know what oysters are good for, and my salmon salad was first rate. Kori and the boys had fresh fish and chips. We recommend that if you are on a visit or out to lunch in Mystic this is a great place. It was a quick trip back to the boat for the night. Kyle and Justin checked their batteries and then settled down for a movie as Kori and I had coffee and tea and cuddled with the boys. Soon it was time for bed and the rugrats headed off to their cabin. Kori and I were in hopes of a little private time and with all the excitement and being back at the boat thought maybe ............ Just as we were about to go to our cabin the phone rang. I answered the phone ........... Wow Liam ! ! ! ! . . . "Hey Kori your brother is on the phone hurry up." Kori came out wrapped in just a towel as he was about to take a shower and took the phone. .......... "Hi Liam, ...... Oh how long will Abby and the twins be gone? ...... Two weeks? ...... Oh let me ask Jake, hold on...... Jake, . . . Liam wants to know if he can come visit for a week or 10 days and can we go sailing?" . . . . I answered . . . "Tell Liam he can stay as long as he wants and it's your boat and you know me and the boys are always ready for an adventure. . . . Kori give me the phone . . . . Hey Liam when will you be here? Tomorrow?! Ok well we're at the boat so meet us here . . . Oh you know me and your brother love you . . . . Well I do anyway, see you about noon". Click! Kori pretended to be pissed that I didn't give him back the phone but it only lasted till we got in our cabin . . . . . hmmm . . . . (what was going on in the cabin?) Kyle and Justin slept soundly all night. Kori and I slept soundly from about 1am after exercising. (exercising?) Don't be daft you know what I mean . . . . Morning came with our cabin door being opened abruptly and a bunch of jabbering half English half Korean about time for breakfast. Kori and I looked at two naked squirts standing just inside the cabin door spouting demands for the start of the day. I wiggled my finger at them and the next thing Kori and I knew was being attacked by these naked natives. Now we were not sure what tribe they belonged to but they sure were ready to send us back to England if they didn't get what they wanted. Eggs and bacon and home fries; Kori said . . . "You won't get one bite of anything till you get some clothes on, Oh and uncle Liam will be here at noon". Unintelligible words from the little ones but it all sounded happy. The boys were off in a jiffy to shower and dress and all excited to see Liam and show him their boats. Breakfast was just fun as it is almost every day with these two just as it was with Kori and Liam when they were small. Breakfast was over and Kori and I went about cleaning the boat while Justin and Kyle did dishes and cleaned the table. I remind myself to always check the dishes after Kyle and Justin washed them, they may need extra washing. We decided that we would sail over to Block Island when Liam arrived and spend 2 or 3 days just relaxing. The boys came topside and were ready to put their boats in the water and play for an hour then recharge the boats for when Liam arrived. It was just noon when Liam arrived. He stepped foot on the boat and was attacked by Kyle and Justin. Kori was next and then I had my chance. Liam looked so good and still has the look of a little boy and it's always difficult for me not to have tears when I hug him. So many times I just want to hold him, I still want to protect him. Funny he has his own little boys and to me he is ..... well I guess he and Kori will always be my little boys. Kori took over as "Captain" and began spouting orders, not shouting just spouting, and soon Jabbering was underway and heading for the east end of Fishers Island and Block Island Sound. As we passed the east end of Fishers Island Kori set a course of 115 degrees east south east and then set the auto pilot. The boys were busy on their computer or with binoculars or ......... When What? ........... Justin and Kyle just came up from below Naked and handed Liam the sunscreen. Liam smiled and said . . . "Doesn't look like things have changed much in 20 years Jake" Kori and I laughed and the boys were rubbed down with sunscreen causing "things" to happen but soon diminished. We were heading to Cormorant Cove to anchor and spend the night. This would be a great place to fish and of course let the boys play with their new River Patrol Boats, "boys defined . . . Kyle, Justin, Kori, and Liam". We were about half way to Block Island when Liam .............. Next . . . .
