The room was dark and the alarm had not said a word however the twins were jabbering away and shaking Jake and I. All we could hear was "Hey, hey you guys do we take our Speedos with us today, do we go to the pool right after school?" "Yes, yes go take a shower" is all I heard from Jake as he continued to mumble something like "and be quiet". I shook Jake and in an irritated voice he replied . . . "Kori your in charge I don't have morning classes today." Jake turned over and went back to sleep and I'm in charge. Of what? Breakfast? The Twins? The whole day? Oh I love it when Jake does things like that. Oh cruel world know thee I am in Charge! The twins charged from our showers soaking wet dragging their towels telling me to dry them. No they didn't ask, they not so politely pushed the towels at me and said . . . "it's cold" So much for being in charge. I wrapped the twins pointed them toward their room and said . . . "go get dressed and pack your bag for swimming after school." The towels lasted 2 steps and were on the floor and just then I remembered what Jake used to say . . . . "Hey you two, stop right there and get back here and pick those towels up!" OMG it worked, I heard Jake chuckle and the boys were fast about it. All I could see after that was two cute butts rounding the corner heading for their bedroom. I need tea, some good English tea, and I warmed the pot first something I learned when in London. Jonah would make me laugh it was the things he would say and it would really crack me up when he would try to talk like me and Liam or Jake. His English and our English just "ain't" the same. "Hey rug-rats what do you want for breakfast?" The boys wanted French toast and that is fine with me. Six slices of French toast, tea, and milk for Kyle and Justin. The boys were jabbering away about some geography project and swimming when I realized Kyle had his t-shirt on backwards. I took his t-shirt off turned it around and he and Justin never stopped talking for a second. I just love it when I'm not part of the team, I'm just in charge. Kori = domestic servant. Breakfast finished we said bye to Jake and were off. Dropped the boys at school and my morning classes were good. Sometimes I know I expect more from the undergrads but I see a difference from when I was here in the same seats. It's almost as if you have to drive them today to get really outstanding results. Morning classes over I ran by to pick up Jake who was standing by the door with a smile looking all refreshed and wide awake. We picked up the kids and over to the dining hall and I have to admit this is working out fine. Students take the kids pay for their lunch and Jake and I get to sit and have a good relaxing lunch. Without knowing Karen walked up behind Jake and I and placed papers on the table. I looked at her and she said . . . "Dr. Preyden, Dr. Roberts these are the updated papers for the twins, just sign them and return them to my office today or tomorrow." And she walked off. I started to get up and Jake grabbed my arm shook his head and said . . . "Kori just let it go" I know Jake was right and it wasn't worth any words I may have said. I just hope that this is the end and Justin and Kyle will not be threatened by the thought of being taken again. Everything brightened up as the boys were returned by a group of students with big smiles on everyone faces. Carl looked at Jake and said . . . . "Dr. Roberts we return your rug-rats and they are clean and even have their hands washed." Two boys stepped forward and introduced themselves . . . "Hi I'm Timmy and this is Chris we're on the University Dive Team and I think we are Justin and Kyle's team coach but we're waiting for the final word from senior dive coach Kevin. We both watched the boys yesterday and it was impressive. Gotta run see you all later." As everyone walked away Jake said . . . "That was interesting we haven't said yes to the junior athletic coach yet but the answer is yes." Jake and I took the boys back to school and they were all giggles and smiles. Afternoon classes were over we picked up the boys and off to the pool. We were greeted by a very happy coach and we made him happier when we said yes. He told the boys to go change and then introduced Timmy and Chris, who we already had met, and explained that they would be assistant dive trainers for the boys. We all shook hands and then Timmy and Chris said they would introduce the senior dive coach a few minutes after practice. Jake and I sat and watched and were very impressed at what Timmy and Chris had the boys doing in just 30 minutes. After practice it was free time for the boy's school group and the junior athletic dive team. Soon we watched as Timmy and Chris and who we assumed to be the senior dive coach approached. Jake looked at me and then we looked carefully at the approaching figure ....... Nah ..... Couldn't be ....... OMG it was ........ Smiles all around as we all recognized each other. It was Kevin and it was like hugs and high fives and family reunion. Timmy and Chris are standing there with the expression of ...... well will someone let us in on this. I turned to Chris standing next to me and said . . . "Chris this is a friend of ours from when I was like 12 and 13". Timmy and Chris couldn't believe it. Kevin started talking about when we all met at the clarion hotel, swimming with his boys and meeting Professor Alves at Durfee Hall. Then he said he had seen the video of the boys diving yesterday and wanted them on the youth team but had no idea we were connected to the boys. Obviously this was going to be one heck of a reunion and we can't wait to tell the boys. We invited Kevin for dinner and said we needed to catch up on everything that has happened. As Jake, Kevin and I were talking Kevin had a great idea. Kevin suggested that we all go to the Great Wall of China the Chinese restaurant we had so much fun at years ago. We looked up to see Kyle and Justin still in their Speedos up on the shoulders of Chris and Timmy. Jake said . . . "I think you should all go shower and change we're all going to Chinese for dinner including Chris and Timmy." Kyle and Justin were excited and as Timmy and Chris lowered them to the floor we could see by the front of their swimsuits their excitement wasn't just about going Chinese. The 4 boys were off to shower and change and I guess Timmy and Chris were a great match for Kyle and Justin. Kevin told Jake and me that Chris and Timmy had been in his high school swim team before they came to Yale. Shortly Jake, Kevin and I watched as the boys came back all with great big smiles and it was off to the Great Wall of China. It was continuous talking and Kyle and Justin occupied Timmy and Chris with non-stop chatter till we heard sailboat. Timmy and Chris exclaimed "Sabre 40 foot". Then no one got a word in edgeways it seems that both Timmy and Chris are members of Mystic sail club and have spent the last two summers there. Well we arrived at the Great Wall of China and obviously the conversation had turned to sailing. I was so excited and I'm sure Jake and Kevin were getting tired of my stories of when I was at Mystic and then a description of the new boat. I must admit I had plenty of help from Justin and Kyle and we all heard about their cabin. I noticed Kevin looking at Jake quite a bit and at first just thought it was because of those years so long ago, but still it was something in Kevin's eyes that just seemed to raise a caution flag. Jake and Kevin continued their conversation and were less a part of the conversation with Timmy, Chris, me and the boys. Maybe it was their age. Timmy and Chris told me, Kyle and Justin all about their adventures with the club and sailing on Long Island Sound and they had even been to Block Island. We all had the best dinner and so much fun talking about all our different adventures and I invited Timmy and Chris to join us on some of our summer adventures. I did notice Jake glance at me when he heard the invitation. Well it was getting late and we needed to get the boys home and in bed so we all said goodnight and would see them all tomorrow. On the ride home Jake was quiet but the boys were jabbering away non-stop and it was so good to see Justin feeling well and so happy. Jake was sitting kind of holding Justin close when I heard him say . . . "You smell like strawberry" then Justin and Kyle said . . . . "Yep Timmy and Chris poured strawberry shampoo all over us they said it was to get rid of the klorin smell from the pool." The pool did have an extra strong odor of chlorine today and they may have had a complete cleaning last night. We were home and it was snuggle time the boys sure didn't need a shower but they wanted a story so I had found this story and well here goes . . . . Ok boys this is the story of a very old sailing ship and her master and they were sailing down there on Cape Cod. Now the boats name was "Spray", the boys were propped up on their elbows and grabbing at every word, ................... *"The waves dancing joyously across Massachusetts Bay met the "Spray" coming out of the harbor to dash them into myriads of sparkling gems that hung about her at every surge. The day was perfect, the sunlight clear and strong. Every particle of water thrown into the air became a gem, and the "Spray", bounding ahead, snatched necklace after necklace from the sea, and as often threw them away". ..... I looked at the boys and like Jake they were all fast asleep. As I started to cover to them Jake pulled me down to him and kissed me. He slid from bed not waking Justin and Kyle and together we pulled the covers up and tucked them in. Jake took my hand and we went to the kitchen and had a nice hot cup of tea. Jake wanted to tell me that it was nice to see Kevin and he was aware that I had noticed the closeness between them. Right then I felt my pulse quicken. Jake said . . . "Kori you're a little flushed but there is no reason. Kevin is just the senior dive coach; and as always and always will be you are my stud-muffin." Well things developed from there and with the boys in our bed we struggled down the hall and in their bed and then in the guest shower. We had a good time, no a really good time. We walked out toward our bedroom dragging our towels naked and were greeted by two little Asian boys pointing directly at our ....... Well you know.! The boys were giggling as Jake and I tried to wrap the towels around us and hide "things" and that just made them laugh more. Finally we got them to their bedroom, then quickly changed our minds for obvious reasons and told them they could sleep with us because they had been so good. We were all cuddled up and it was one of those bitter cold nights when chill can go to the bone. I think we were all happy to have someone to wrap arms around. As I had Kyle pulled close and held tightly I could hear what almost sounded as if Justin was purring like a kitten. Jake turned Justin over and it stopped. Who would think a 9 year old was snoring. Morning arrived only because that damn alarm clock said it was morning. Still dark still cold but never mind the day had started and the boys were up and nothing was stopping them today. They ran took a quick shower hit their room for clean clothes and ........... "Hey Kori our bed is all messed up!" Oh geeeez I forgot all about that "It's ok boys Jake and I thought we saw a mouse." Pancakes for breakfast and out the door, back in the door someone had to pee. Back out the door to the car then back in the door to get dry not frozen Speedos for the rug-rats. Jake had to laugh because the swimsuits were frozen stiff and we were thinking how many more times that would happen. The boys were so excited not to get to school but because after school they would work with Timmy and Chris. Kyle and Justin are our boys but I can remember before I lived with Jake how excited I was just thinking about spending an afternoon with him. I understand their excitement. Perhaps I feel just a little jealous. I looked at Jake with his smile and knew he was reading my mind. I think it's funny how when you've been with someone and loved them like Jake and I love each other that at times you can read their thoughts. Jake and I dropped Justin and Kyle at school and we were off for our classes and the boys have instruction to wait at the school gate at lunch for me to pick them up. Morning passed quickly and I had the boys and met Jake at the door of the dining hall. The boys were gone, out of site in seconds and it is so funny because you can follow the group as the move from one station to the next in the dining hall. Jake and I could see Kyle and Justin . . . . . rice, sticky buns, spring rolls, soda, and ............ What? Jake started and I caught him and said . . . "Jake one soda won't hurt them. They can have . . . . . and just as I was about to continue Jake spotted Chris as he took the soda away. Timmy looked over at us and motioned .... No Soda! Jake was all happy and reminded me how many he took away from me and Liam. Come to find out the No Soda is a team thing no one is allowed soda and the older members No Beer either. (umm never mind) There are rules and then there are rules; and then there are rules meant to be broken. Justin came running over and said . . . "Guess what? We have to start weight training today" then Kyle arrived and said . . . "Hey you have to get us a ...... a something that the doctor write." I looked at Jake then explained that they needed a physical and Kyle said . . . "Yep that's it and we need it right after school." And handed Jake the paper with the appointment time and it was right after school. Afternoon was done for me and I picked the boys and hurried over to our phys-ed department and the athletic department doctor was waiting. I handed him the papers and he asked if both boys could come in together as it would save time. That was good and we could get right over to the pool. The boys went with the doctor and he said I should come in as well. I didn't know if the boys would like that. He asked the boys to strip to their Spiderman undies and then he started and each thing he did to one boy he then did to the other. Height, scale, eyes, ears, nose, thump, thump on their backs, heart, tapped on their knee with that rubber hammer and then . . .......... OMG they had to drop their shorts and he checked their testicles ................ Justin looked at me with a real shocked look. It got worse ........... Because the boys were not circumcised and only 9 the doctor had the boys retract their foreskin to make sure it retracted easily. I thought they would die of embarrassment. Finally he checked their feet had them turn around and had them bend over .......... Now I almost cracked up I thought I knew what he was going to do, but didn't, he just looked. He looked at me and said . . . "we can wait till their 11 for that" then told the boys they were done. Justin and Kyle were dressed in record time and at the door. We got in the car and Justin exclaimed . . . "He held my nuts and rolled them around!" with Kyle at the same time saying . . . "Made us pull our skin back, real strange if you ask me, hope we don't have to do that again." I said . . . "Hey guys all the team has to get that done or they can't be on the team. We walked into the pool training area and Jake was there talking to Kevin, Chris and Timmy and I handed Kevin the papers from the team doctor. The boys were off with Timmy and Chris to start weight training. Kevin shook hands and said he had to meet with senior divers and would see us later. After training and then dive training and free time the boys had showered and were dressed and ready to go. Timmy and Chris greeted us and explained some of what they did and then handed Jake and I a nutrition plan and eating schedule as well as an exercise routine to be carried out at home. "Seriously?" The boys are 9. Jake was Ok with it and I thought it was a little overboard for 9 year olds. Then I was reminded of all the very young Olympic champions and what age they started. Are they really seeing something in Kyle and Justin? I guess I remember when I got on the swim team in middle school but it was nothing like this. On the way home the boys were so excited to tell us all about their training and what they had told Timmy and Chris about the boat in Ft. Lauderdale and that it would be down at Mystic soon. Well not that soon. We were getting dinner ready and I'm not sure what it was but there was something about the boys. They seemed very close. I'm not sure how to explain it. I just wanted to be near them. I watched as Jake was teaching Justin and Kyle how make a great salad and how he was letting them fix everything. I couldn't resist and had to get my hands right in there and while mixing the salad I bent down and kissed Kyle. Woha ..... I think I surprised myself. Kyle looked up at me with a smile said . . . "do it again". .... I did. Justin was not going to be left out and tugged on Jake and said . . . "Hey what about me I'm cute too." Jake picked Justin up and began to dance with him around the kitchen. Justin was begging for kisses and sure enough Jake began giving him little pecks on the nose and cheek. Now the little giggles that came from Justin said we're a family. Soon diner was over quick showers and it was time for a story. I said . . . "Hey tonight I have a surprise for you it's Jake's turn. The boys were propped up on pillows and their eyes were glued to Jake as he began .......... *.......... "The weather was fierce and I made for the cove, to look the Spray over and again to weigh the voyage, and my feelings, and all that. The bay was feather-white as my little vessel tore in, smothered in foam. It was my first experience of coming into port alone, with a craft of any size. Old fishermen ran down to the wharf where the Spray was heading, apparently intent upon smashing herself there. I hardly know how a calamity was averted, but with my heart in my mouth, almost, I let go the wheel, stepped quickly forward, and downed the jib. The sloop naturally rounded in the wind, and just ahead, laid her cheek against a mooring-pile at the windward corner of the wharf, so quietly, after all, that she would not have broken an egg. Very leisurely I passed a rope around the post, and she was moored." Jake looked up and there in such amazing beauty were our boys soundly sleeping ..............................
