Just a reminder that the story is told by either Jake or Kori in alternating Chapters. A Neglected Boy "The Twins LXII" jacoblion@tutanota.com I could hear the Judge loud and clear as he impatiently was asking Jake for our plate number. I think Jake froze. I quickly grabbed the phone and said . . . . "Judge, it's Connecticut, 2126 YU with a Yale University sticker on the rear bumper." . . . . I heard the judge say . . . . "Got it, Kori just sit there and keep an eye on the front door, unmarked State Police will arrive in a few minutes" Although it was only 4 minutes it seemed like hours when a white electrical van pulled alongside and the guy in the passenger's seat showed Jake a State Police badge. The van backed up behind us and the officer, dressed in rather raggedy work clothes came to the driver's window and spoke with Jake. The officer was getting as much information as he could including descriptions of Maddalena and all the boys. It was maybe 2 minutes later that several unmarked police cars were parking in places on both sides of the street. Some officers were men some were women and some were pretending to be married, I think. The officer talking to Jake told him to pull out and park in front of the house and take the compass necklace to the door and make sure to get Lorenzo to step outside then pretend to hand the necklace directly to Lorenzo. Officers were now at the corners and sides of the house and I think at the back as well. Jake drove the car and parked right at the front of the house, he was shaking as he opened the driver's door and started up the steps and walked to the front door. An officer was standing flattened against the house next to the door as Jake reached out and knocked several times. ... When the door opened Maddalena was standing directly behind Marco and Lorenzo with her hand on Marco and Lorenzo's shoulder, like some proud or protective mother. Somehow there must have been some signal to the officers at the back of the house because there was a loud bang that sounded like a small explosion. ...... Maddalena turned and as she did Jake and the officer grabbed Marco and Lorenzo and pulled them out and two other officers, dressed like city electricians, jerked the boys up and ran with them down to the street. Neither of the boys were crying but looked scared as hell. I don't think Marco even knew what was happening. Soon the smallest of the 3 other boys was carried out by a female officer and the 2 older boys were brought out by 2 uniformed state crime division officers. All 3 boys were placed in what looked like a really nice ordinary RV camper. Lorenzo and Marco were with 2 officers in a large Ford van like you might see at the airport for passengers. We were asked to move and park across the street and told that Lorenzo and Marco would be back with us very soon. Jake and I sat with Kyle, Justin, and Antonio and just watched. ... It was about 15 minutes when Maddalena and some rather large man with black hair were brought out in handcuffs and placed in separate cars that drove off immediately. We thought it was over; ... but then ............... 4 young very cute boys all with blond hair walked from the front door in only what could be described as ragged, disgustingly dirty pajamas or sweatpants. The 4 boys all stepped up into the large RV and that was the last we saw of them. Jake was on the phone with Alina giving her the good news that Lorenzo and Marco were safe and would be with us in just a few minutes while Antonio was on his phone with his Grandfather explaining what was happening. Soon an officer began to walk toward us followed by 2 very happy boys, our doors flew open and we all ran to hug Marco and Lorenzo. Jake handed his phone to Lorenzo and with the phone on speaker there was a lot of happy screaming and hollering from both sides, none of which we could understand ... well, Antonio understood some of it. The conversation ended with Lorenzo saying . . . . "Mom we're fine, you don't have to come we can stay with Kori, and Jake, and the boys here ... Mommm ... no we want to stay, can't we? Please." .............. ...................Marco grabbed the phone and said something in Italian then we could hear Alina as she began to cry, then Marco handed the phone to me ......... "Hello Alina, ... the boys are safe and will be with me and Jake, please let us know what you would like us to do to make things easiest for you. We love the boys and you, you are family to us."............... ................Alina said she will be on a plane tomorrow flying into the Francis Green Airport in Providence; that was the original plan when they first started talking about this International Exchange Program. Jake took the phone and said . . . . "Alina just make whatever flight is easiest for you and let us know, we'll be there to pick you up. The conversation ended with Marco and Lorenzo saying . . . . "ti voglio bene mamma" `momma, I love you' ........ It was just a few minutes talking with the State Police and crime unit and we were off for home. While Jake was driving, I called Ethan and Keith to explain why we couldn't take their calls. Neither Ethan or Keith took the news very well and became very upset. There was a long silence on the phone and it was easy to tell that both teens were trying not to let me know they were holding back tears. Keith said he'd start making a big dinner but Jake thought it would be much better to stop at The Great Wall of China and bring home all our favorites. Jake was right and it would help the mood and even get some smiles. We arrived at the Chinese restaurant and soon the conversation changed to who wanted what on the menu. When we left the restaurant, it looked like we were carrying enough food for a buffet. We arrived home and were greeted by 2 very happy teens and all the boys were explaining all about the exciting story and how Lorenzo and Marco were almost kidnapped and sold to some child terrific slave ring ... Jake and I knew the rug-rats meant a child trafficking ring. Dinner was placed on the large kitchen table like a buffet when there was a knock at the door, ...... Antonio was closest and opened the door to find his Grandfather holding 2 large Pepperoni pizzas. During the 2-hour dinner Jake, Antonio's Grandfather and I tried not to mention the events of the day, yes, we did try. ... However, Lorenzo and Marco continued to tell the story about 5 or 6 times and each time the story became more interesting. I think the story could easily have become a real "who done it" book or movie matching any suspense thriller written since "Murder on the Orient Express". The last time the event was told by Lorenzo and Marco they mentioned the dungeon in the dark damp cellar where boys were kept and tortured. ... ummmm, ... This was a very interesting twist to the story Jake and I were told by the crime division officer; not even close to reality. Dinner and storytime ended with a very unhappy Antonio leaving with the Judge. Antonio said, begged and did everything short of paying his Grandfather to let him stay with us. I think at one-point Antonio even tried blackmail and Lorenzo wasn't being any help either backing up Antonio's pleas to let him stay. The phone rang as the door closed with Antonio still pleading with his Grandfather................... .................Jake answered and put Alina on speakerphone. I covered Lorenzo's mouth quickly when he began his version of the story with our 4 boys plus Marco giggling knowing how far Lorenzo was stretching things. Alina was booked on a flight to arrive in Providence at 1 pm tomorrow. Jake and I with Marco and Lorenzo would be there when she arrives. .......... Now the fight............. ............Try, just try to explain why Justin and Kyle had to stay with Ethan and Keith while Jake, Marco, Lorenzo and I go to greet Alina at the airport. Try! ........ It didn't work! And, just when our little tyrants were about to throw a temper tantrum Jake gave in and said . . . . "Ok, ok stop, you can go." . . . . I looked at Jake and was about to say something ... I had a flashback to something similar with me and Liam when Liam was 9, ... I just smiled. We were supposed to be back at the University in the morning and all the boys were to be back at University school and had swim practice. It was a mad dash for Jake and I to text our TA's to take tomorrows classes. For Ethan and Keith, it was a little bad news or maybe not. Jake asked Ethan to spend the night with Keith at the dorm so Marco and Lorenzo could have Ethan's room; and tomorrow it would be classes as normal for them. ... Interesting ... no argument. Rug-rats get one more day of no school. Jake drove Ethan and Keith over to Durfee hall and after they left there was some hush, hush conversation among Justin, Kyle, Marco, and Lorenzo while I was busy getting cookies and milk, in glasses, for their bedtime snack. Jake was back in a flash and we got some good news when our rug-rats told us they were happy to be back in "their" beds in "their" bedroom. I think the gist of the story was that they didn't need to sleep with their "Dads" tonight. ... Jake and I think there is another motive. Well, ... showers ... hmmm, much like the showers when we left the farm rug-rats along with Marco and Lorenzo used the big shower/bath adjoining the master bedroom. Jake and I could hear them laughing and giggling and a few comments about size and even a comment about Keith. Better to hear the laughs and giggling then anything about what happened earlier today. Everyone was off to bed and Jake and I were all wrapped up nice and warm as that miserable cold winter wind howled once again outside our window. Soon it was a sound sleep and I think it was about 3 am when Jake woke me and said . . . . "Kori come look at this." ...... Jake led me down to Kyle and Justin's room ... empty ... then back to Ethan's bedroom. All snuggled up with arms around each other were the 4 boys. Morning came with an alarm and not the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Jake's feet were first to hit the floor grumbling something about he supposed he'd have to make the coffee and it would have been better to just let Keith and Ethan stay. ... I found that quite amusing. Soon I was on my way out of the bathroom to the sounds of laughing and excitement coming from the kitchen. Tea was made, Jake made my tea, Ethan usually makes my tea and now I see ... there was no reason why Ethan and Keith couldn't have just stayed here. I'd have had better morning tea. My tea, as Jonah would say, was like warm "cloured" water and tasted ... no it really didn't have much taste at all. Lorenzo and the boys were laughing at the faces I made while sipping this ungodly brew. Of course, only when Jake couldn't see me. Alina was arriving at 1 pm but Jake and I always like to be early and who knows what the traffic will be like on 95 North. It's a little less than 2 hours so we decided to hit the road by 10 and if we arrive early it would give us time for smacks with the boys. No traffic but constant chatter, nonstop yapping ... some of what was being discussed by the 4 boys Jake and I could even understand. Jake and I find it extremely funny that 2 Italian boys can understand 2 Korean boys and the 2 rug-rats have no problem understanding Lorenzo and Marco even when their speaking in Italian. Arriving at the airport early was good because almost in unison Jake and I heard . . . . "Food, we're hungry" ...... as the boys spotted the Federal Tavern. It was ok, expensive, but Jake and I got to sit at one table, talk and watch the now "brotherhood of 4" stuffing their faces. I thought ... "did I eat that much when I was their age?" It was time for Alina to arrive and just as we approached the baggage carousel all 4 boys spotted Alina and were off. No sense trying to stop them. It was quite a reunion and the jabbering never stopped. Jake and I did manage to let Alina know that the story she may hear may not be altogether accurate. Alina winked at me with a big smile and I understood that she was aware that Marco and especially Lorenzo liked to embellish, exaggerate, and elaborate their stories. The ride home was quick with all the chatter. Jake explained that a detective would meet with us around 5 just to give us an update on the situation. We all had been invited to Antonio's Grandfather's for dinner if Alina was agreeable after the 6-hour flight. Alina was very happy to accept the invitation and simply said she had slept most of the flight. We reached home and Alina had a little time to relax and enjoy a nice warm shower. Ethan and Keith arrived at the same time the detective arrived and he showed us some photos of some other people and asked if we had seen them ... the answer was no. He thanked us for our help and cooperation, shook hands and was gone. We arrived at the judges home and wow was Alina impressed ... it wasn't so much the beautiful estate as it was with Antonio. Antonio was wearing white dress shorts and a blue linen Amalfi shirt and Italian leather boat shoes. The Judge welcomed us in and introduced Antonio to Alina. It's true Jake and I love Antonio but this kid was right out of a movie and his manners were impeccable. I think Ethan and Keith were drooling and it took Lorenzo almost a minute to just look at Antonio then it was hugs. If everyone didn't see that there was something special between these 2 boys then they were blind. Dinner was nothing special, ... right, ... it was Crown Roast of Pork with Mushroom Dressing and Antonio's Grandfather explained that it was Antonio's request. Dinner was fabulous and a good way to forget the happenings of earlier today. It was just about the end of the evening when Antonio asked if Lorenzo, Marco, Kyle and Justin could sleepover then quickly added Ethan and Keith. ........ Ethan and Keith quickly said they had a swim practice early in the morning and needed to get back to the dorm. Thank you, Ethan. This was almost awkward until the Judge suggested that Alina stay and assured her that there was plenty of room. I noticed Antonio's Grandfather look at me and Jake for approval and Jake smiled and said . . . . "Judge I think that is a splendid idea it will give the boys time to have a little fun and perhaps a good swim before bed and Alina a nice rest after the flight." Jake and I grabbed Kyle and Justin and gave them a few last-minute instructions all to the sounds of . . . . "Dad I know, Dad we're not stupid, you know, Dads you can go home we'll be just fine." ........ All the time Alina was watching with this big grin. She knows just what's it's like. ... Boys! Jake and I thanked the Judge and Antonio for such a special and enjoyable evening and headed home. We arrived home, alone, walked in dropped the car keys on the table Jake's shirt was off and on the chair in the bedroom. I heard the shower running my pants were just thrown on the bed and I nearly fell trying to get my underwear and socks off at the same time. Ok, so I'm thinking you want to know what happened next ... right? ... Let me say this ... We were in this very warm shower and Jake started by shaving me, ... no not my face. Yes, he was very careful, he always is; both Jake and I like that smooth feeling. When everything was smooth Jake took some of that `personal warming liquid lubricant' ... and ... 90 seconds for the first time and I was over the top. It was now time for Jake to enjoy what he enjoys most but, I had no intention of letting him get off so quickly. We had no reason to hurry and Jake really enjoys being sucked. He lasted longer, much longer, the third time, so did I but longer for me is still only about 5 minutes, ... always very horny, I was almost as bad as Riku at times. Shower and fun over we had both forgot to text the TA's to take classes again so it was midnight and I'm sure the TA's didn't mind. We slept quite well and were up and `going' first thing in the morning. We called over to Antonio's Grandfather and said we would be over to pick the boys up for school soon. Arriving at the Judge's house we packed Justin and Kyle in the car and then had a surprise when Alina said she was spending the day with the Judge and the boys while Antonio was at school. The Judge and Antonio's Grandmother had offered to show Alina, Lorenzo and Marco the area seeing that their international exchange program had been a complete fraud and disaster. ... The arrangement was that we would all meet for dinner at Zeneli Pizzeria at 7 tonight. ... We dropped the boys at University School and then Jake said . . . . "I think something is going on with the Judge, I think he's up to something, ... and knowing him it must be something good, or was it?" The day was a blast for Jake and I. We had time to work on class projects, write notes for upcoming lectures, stop and watch some diving lessons, oh and we both enjoyed a nice long mid-day shower, no we weren't dirty just had time for some more fun. Ethan and Keith arrived with Kyle and Justin at Zeneli Pizza just as Jake and I drove up. Antonio, Lorenzo, Marco, the Judge and Alina were already there. Tonight, it was a typical Italian dinner prepared by Antonio's mother and Grandmother. The conversation was wonderful as we learned all about where the Judge came from, his family history and how he knew Professor Alves. I think it was just about an hour into dinner when Alina began to say how disappointed Marco and Lorenzo were that they would be going back to Naples. Jake and I have said how funny some things happen and how we thought the Judge was up to something; it was just then when we all found out just what he had been up to. As Alina was talking, Antonio's Grandfather reached down to his bag and very slowly and quietly placed a large envelope on the table. In a minute he carefully slid it across to Alina. Alina had a questioning look as she opened the envelope ... she had a few tears and a smile as she looked at the Judge, Antonio's Grandmother, and mother and shook her head ... yes. What an amazing gift ... in the envelope was a letter from Antonio's Catholic School inviting Marco and Lorenzo to remain here as part of the school's International Student Exchange program all tuition, insurance and fees paid. The next thing was when the Judge asked if it would be ok with Alina and with our permission to let Lorenzo and Marco stay with Antonio at his house.............
