Just a reminder the story is told by either Jake or Kori in alternating Chapters. A Neglected Boy "The Twins" LXXXII jacoblion@tutanota.com I had slipped from bed without waking Jake. With a hot cup of tea, I sat on the dive platform and watched the beginning sunrise as it peeked above the dark blue water on the Eastern horizon. How beautiful the sun with its vibrant gold, yellow, and orange colors. In the stillness of the early morning it began illuminating the light blue sky above the calm waters of Nantucket Sound. I heard whispering. I turned just in time to catch 2 cute rug-rats ready to attack me. There were more whispers as Kyle and Justin, trying not to wake anyone else but, letting me know they were starving. ... So, what's new they're always `starving' for one thing or another. Mostly food or attention. To the rug-rats delight I told them I start breakfast if they'd go wake the rest of this `lazy' crew, ... troubles a brewing and Jake is first. ... ... I slid down the ladder to the galley with Kyle and Justin creeping step by step behind me. Not making a sound I spotted them at our cabin door trying to silently open it............. The attack imminent .... OMG .... what a ruckus, shouting, screaming, begging for help, that was Jake begging. Anyone not awake was awake now. It wasn't the best scenario for Jake as one by one beginning with Marco, followed by Lorenzo, Antonio and Kris came to aid in the attack. I gotta pee ! ! ! ! ... Oh, that was Jake's voice. I bunch of naked boys exited from our cabin laughing and giggling and then I heard my name and something about tomorrow morning. ... NO!, that's not gonna happen! It was 6:15 not even an hour after sunrise and breakfast was being scoffed up by some and eaten politely by Kris, Keith, Jake, Antonio and Ethan. I'm certain that at some point in the past I have mentioned that `slurping' is considered a sign of appreciation of the cooking. I take it that Marco, Justin, Kyle, and Lorenzo really enjoyed the pancakes with fresh strawberries this morning. With breakfast finished I had Keith and Ethan pull the anchor, Kris and Antonio to clean the galley. Lorenzo, Marco, and the rug-rats were to get on the computer and find all the good things for us to do in Nantucket. Jake and I looked carefully at the charts and Navionics for our continued summer adventure. Anchor up and chain stowed neatly in the chain locker, engine running smoothly and Jabbering was underway. Today is Keith's turn to try his hand at plotting a course for Nantucket. Jake and I get a `look' from Ethan then Ethan got a `look' from Jake and me; yes, Keith needs to learn too. Jabbering needs everyone to learn as much as they can about handling sails and navigation. Keith did a great job and plotted our course of 083 degrees from Old Harbor, Block Island to the approach to Nantucket Harbor, Nantucket, Massachusetts. How could he not do a great job with Ethan glued to his left side. Keith even figured the distance at 77.19 miles and the approximate sailing time if winds held to be just over 12 hours. It was fun for me and Jake to watch Keith figuring each step. The fun was Keith pushing Ethan's hand off the chart or saying "I know Ethan, I can do this without help but, thanks. ... Ethan, I can work this out without your hand on my `butt' you can do that later. ... E t h a n, go find something to do!" Oh, this is going to be a long day of sailing. A long day in a number of ways. Yes, 77+ miles at 6 -7 knots with tacking ... 12 hours? ... maybe if we're lucky; if Ethan and Keith focus on keeping Jabbering tight to the wind and work the sails continuously. If Ethan can keep his hands, `horny hands' off Keith for most of the day. Seems like someone's hormones are running a little hot today. Spy scopes and binoculars were handed out to our shark lookouts along with some valuable information that Jake, Ethan, Keith and I had just received. The Atlantic Shark Institute is reporting that its newly deployed audio equipment detected the presence of two great white sharks in Rhode Island Waters and that the sharks were detected in two different locations near Block Island. One report said that Cape Cod has become a haven for great white sharks in recent years because of the increase in the seal population. The two great white sharks that were detected near Block Island were tagged last summer off Cape Cod. In May OCEARCH tracked a 10-foot long, 500-pound male great white shark not too far from Block Island swimming close to shore. I thought there might be some questions as to the danger so did Jake. However, our thoughts of the `danger' weren't justified and Justin and Kyle had everyone excited after showing them their photos and videos of our last encounter with a Great White. Very interesting how the story has changed from those rug-rats being terror stricken to them being `Great White Hunters'. It was Hunters Marco, Kyle, and Justin on the port side and Lorenzo, Antonio, and Kris on the starboard side. The boys now excited lookouts and hunters remained next to the cockpit not at the bow. I think the bow may have been just a little far from Ethan and Keith the `protectors'. Dad, ... Dad ... DAD! ... ... hurry it's a Great White! ... ... Jake and I along with everyone, but Keith, were crowded around Kyle and Justin. Were the boys right, was it a Great White? ...... Who was going to go below and get the Shark identifier chart? ... Jake and I have laughed about the `selective hearing problem' on many occasions and this is one of them. Jake asked Justin to drop down to the salon and grab the identifier. Justin continued his conversation with Antonio without interruption. I asked Kyle, not a flinch not a sign of hearing my request. Eyes were trained on that shark like a `sniper' ready to kill the enemy. Jake softly said . . . . "5 dollars to whoever gets the shark identifier above the chart table." ... ... Lorenzo has incredible hearing and was much faster than Kyle. ... ... Ahhhh, now what shark do we have Great White or Tiger Shark? Lorenzo in that beautiful Italian accent began reading .... "Tiger Sharks are greenish blue, with a light yellow or gray belly. Great White Sharks are dark gray on top, switching sharply to white underneath. Tigers have the signature stripes on their backs. These fade as the fish grows, but you can always make them out." The identifier was snatched right out of his hand almost in mid-word and Antonio continued .... "Tiger Sharks have a blunt, square head with eyes on the corners and large, flared nostrils. Great Whites have a smaller head compared to the rest of their body. They also have a short, pointed nose with their eyes and nostrils set back towards their mouth." Kris and Antonio are best friends and `more' but that didn't stop Kris from grabbing the identifier and continuing with .... "There's a very good reason why these fish are shaped so differently: They hunt in completely opposite ways. Great Whites are all about power and speed. Shock and awe. They lurk in the deep, then burst up, hitting their prey before it even sees them coming. They're famous for jumping clean out of the water, sending their unfortunate meal flying through the air if they don't catch it in their jaws." The war had started and Antonio wasn't about to let Kris finish and snatched the identifier back and began dancing about and finishing the description .... "Tiger Sharks are the ninjas of the reef. Hunting at night their patterned body makes them impossible to spot as they approach their prey. Once in range, they pounce, flip their tail rocketing them forward, and kill their prey with sharp, serrated teeth." Cheers and applause from everyone as Antonio finished. His acting and reading were as if he was on a huge stage in the Colosseum in Rome. But what shark were we looking at? ... ... short, pointed nose with their eyes and nostrils set back towards their mouth ... Yes! ... it was a Great White and getting closer, and closer. The wind, the damn the wind was slacking off and we were slowing and `Jaws' was getting closer. ... The boys were cheering it on like this was some kind of competition to see if `Jaws' would reach the side of Jabbering or we would escape with our lives. ... ... Ok, ok alright so I was a bit dramatic. Seriously though they were cheering. We now have 1,269 photos and 20 minutes of video with each kid standing in front of the GoPro pretending to be a "Newscaster" for a major network. I'm not prejudiced and neither is Jake but the rug-rats win! Those 2 little loveable brats are the best actors. We all know and talk about fish stories, right? ... ... Well, our Great White shark, Jaws, according to Justin and Kyle was nearly 24 feet in length, and 2,000 pounds. The way they tell it is quite believable however, in actuality is was at best 6 feet and kind of puny. Undersized, underdeveloped, undernourished, stunted, feeble, pint-sized, insignificant, pathetic, measly, well, I'm sure you get the idea. The boys all took turns feeding `Jaws' bread till Ethan stepped in and said that Great Whites have amazing memories and when it grows up it'll be looking for bigger boys down near Mystic for a quick snack. Lots of fun and the wind had returned. It was time for ... "I'm hungry" so Jake and I scrounged up a mid-morning snack. One of Antonio and Lorenzo's favorites, sardines on toast wedges and tuna and olive dip with spicy guacamole chips. Some kids are fussy eaters ... not these. In less than 10 minutes everything gone and now it was time for a game, a board game they have learned to really love. It's called Tsuro of the Seas. I think it's because of the board and the dragon layout. Players sail the treacherous waves of the Mystic Seas in an engaging game of adventure. Kyle and Justin are masters of the game and there is No Cheating Allowed! ... ... unless Justin or Kyle get away with it. Keith remained Captain and Ethan was working hard to ensure that the sails were set for optimum speed and that made them a great team. Jake and I can see where they would be amazing on a good racing boat. 6 boys were in a heated argument and trying to persuade each other who had cheated. Jabbering was honed to perfection and Ethan now had a few minutes to relax. Jake was in the galley making he and I a cold drink when Ethan sat next to me quietly looking at Keith. Jake says Ethan is a lot like me; I see some of what Jake talks about but not all of it. Ethan turned and almost in a whisper said . . . . "Kori you know Keith and I love you and Jake, right?" . . . . he got up and stood by Keith. I thought about what he just said when he turned around came back sat again and said . . . . "I watch you and Jake with Kyle and Justin and how much you love them and how they love you and Jake. They always make believe they're causing trouble just to get hugs and kisses. Now I know what I missed; I never got the chance to grown up I always had to be `a big boy'. Thanks for adopting me and being the `Dad' I never had." He walked away. I had tears in my eyes. He slapped Keith on the butt and tightened the sails. The cold drink Jake made was refreshing, I'll tell Jake what Ethan said later. The board game finished and now it was lunch. Hotdogs and chips and beer for everyone. ... ... A&W Root beer. Some boys looked tired, Marco, Justin, Lorenzo, Kyle, Kris, and Antonio. The last 2 mentioned were faking it when they said they'd have a nap ... ha-ha, ... they just wanted an excuse to fool around. I told Kyle to let the Lorenzo, Marco pick a movie and they could all stay in the salon and watch it. Or, if some were really tired, they could take a nap in their cabin or in the forward v-birth. It was not more than 30 minutes later when Jake took a peek. Justin, Kyle and Marco were in the salon watching the movie half asleep half awake, actually a little more asleep than awake. Antonio, Lorenzo and Kris were taking a nap. Seriously, taking a nap? And I was going to believe that ... and if I did someone should slap me upside the head for being so stupid. Jake and I again just sat and watched Keith and Ethan as they continued their teamwork. They kept Jabbering cutting through the slight chop like a hot knife through butter and we were making great time. To our port we could see Nomans Land a small uninhabited island 612 acres in size. It's about 3 miles off the southwest corner of Martha's Vineyard and was used by the United States Navy as a practice bombing range. It's a Restricted Area so we never gave any thought of anchoring there. Keith handed the wheel to Ethan made a quick trip below returned with a `Beer' and joined Jake and I. He sat watching Ethan with a smile that said how much he loved his best friend. Jake and I watched both boys knowing that their love for each other was true love, the kind that only gets stronger with time. Keith said everyone below was sleeping then took two steps toward Ethan then turned looked at me and Jake and said . . . . "I don't know how to tell you how much I love him or how much we love you." . . . . looking a little self-conscious at what he just said he quickly turned and hugged Ethan and began to tweak the main and foresail. Jake was just about to say something when the 3 musketeers, Marco, Kyle and Justin, arrived at the top of companionway with all the news about what we can do and see in Nantucket. Their greeting was a little funny because after blurting out several things Jake and I got little kisses on each cheek form all 3 of them. ... Marco looked so cute and just a little shy smile that let Jake and I know that the greeting was his idea. We remembered some of what we had read but hearing it from 3 very excited boys was much better. We could swim, snorkel, Oh Yes, snorkel, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, fish off the boat or from the beach and now for the most important thing ... ta-da ... we could waterski. Jake and I know we didn't waterski last year so this will be a challenge. The begging had already started and big mouths Keith and Ethan didn't help describing how much fun it is and how fast you can go skimming over the water. Just as Keith was finishing his description Kris, Lorenzo, and Antonio arrived in somewhat of a state of anti-climax by the looks of puffed out island shorts. Kris was looking at me and Jake and where we looking ... remembering that Kris has very fair skin the flushed color simply said ... `Yes, yes we've been involved in some sexual activity for the past hour'. Antonio noticed and turned 3 shades of red, giggled, and said . . . . "So, we're going waterskiing, right?" ... His so obvious quick change of subject had the 2 older teens laughing and the rug-rats wanting to know what was so funny. With 8 boys ages 10 -- 17 on this sailboat bumping into and rubbing against each other, accidently or on purpose, means that someone has an erection every 4 or 5 minutes. Jake and I have noticed that 3 boys have them more often than the others. I bet you can guess. ... No? ... Ok, it's Antonio, Lorenzo, and Kris and it's Lorenzo that is in some sort of excited condition 20 hours out of the 24. We arrived Nantucket Harbor and found a perfect anchorage. We had all decided that tomorrow would be snorkeling in the morning and waterskiing in the afternoon. Jake had called and reserved 2 ski boats for 2 hours each and we thought that would be plenty of time for all of us to have fun. Tonight, was that `clam boil' we had planned. Jake and I were getting it ready with help and interference. There was constant meddling from everyone accept Keith, and Ethan who were handling the boat; and Antonio, Lorenzo, and Kris who were somewhere doing something, again. What's a clam boil asked Marco so while I was peeling onions Jake explained ... "Marco, remember all that seafood we bought at that stinky place at Point Judith? Well, we're going to take all that and put it in a big pot with onions, potatoes, and some special clam boil seasoning and cook it so you get a little everything; something like a seafood smorgasbord all in one pot." Dinner, voted by everyone, as best seafood dinner ever! Jake and I took our bows before handing out the chores for cleaning up. ... Surprise ... Kris and Antonio volunteered before Jake or I could say anything. We took the projector topside and showed "Night in a Museum" in the cockpit on our 6-foot screen. Movie over, the night was a little cool and everyone was off to their cabins or special sleeping places. Antonio, Kris and Lorenzo have been sleeping in the cockpit most of the time. Ethan and Keith were on their way down to the forward v-birth and I heard Keith say to Kris he knows why they call it a `cockpit'. ... ... "You want some?" . . . . and that would be Kris's voice asking. ... ... "Got all I need thanks Kris." ...... was Keith's reply. ... ... Jake and I smiled and were off to our cabin and some fun. Morning we were treated to breakfast by Lorenzo and Marco. It was a very special treat of Cornflakes, Cocoa puffs, or Rice Krispies. There was no toast it takes too long. The coffee according to Jake was thick, burnt, and had about half cup of sugar in it. Marco said it was an Italian treat. Jake added hot water then a little more water and a little more. On the other hand, was my tea. How to describe it, well, remember Jonah? remember how he made tea? Real English tea not that watery American stuff ... No, no not that ... he made real tea, strong but with great taste. As for this tea I'm not sure what Jonah would have said. I know he wouldn't have tried to drink it. The color was like a reddish brown and the aroma like acid. I tried to drink it but it peeled the skin from my upper lip. I gave Marco a hug and said I thought water would be better this morning because we'd be in the sun all day. The morning snorkeling was fantastic. The amount of fish, of all types, and crabs and starfish. We all did need to listen to a lecture from the rug-rats about the `damn crabs' and not to bring any back to Jabbering or else. ... To make a point they smashed their fist into the other hand giving us all a `look'. Then it happened ............ Lorenzo had this tiny fiddler crab not even an inch long. He snuck up on Kyle and put it on his shoulder........... OMG!........ screaming ... ... ... "I'm gonna pull your balls off n feed em to the sharks!" as Kyle was chasing Lorenzo down the beach............. ............We all were laughing and watching the show till Lorenzo tripped. Kyle was on him like hounds on a rabbit. Ethan got there just as Kyle had his hand inside Lorenzo's swim shorts firmly squeezing Lorenzo's balls ... "Uncle, uncle I'm sorry ... OMG it hurts Kyle let go!" ... Thankfully Ethan and Keith were able to get Kyle to release what could have been sharks dinner. Lorenzo not going to let everyone think he was a `wuss' began singing that Kyle squeezed like a girl and liked playing with his balls. ... ... Ethan and Keith had all they could do to hold on to the little Korean kid. Tempers finally calmed down but not before Kyle got the last word in as he said . . . . "Yeah Lorenzo, you know what? .. you can suck my dick just like you did last night." We kept Kyle and Lorenzo separated. We found a place called the clam shack for lunch and we each had something interesting. Everything had a seafood name even if it wasn't seafood. Lunch over, fighting over, but I think Kyle was serious about Lorenzo sucking his dick later, and we were off for our adventure of waterskiing. Because we were planning the day off the boat it was decided that we would all wear our Island swimsuits and not Speedos. Jake was amused at some of Kris and Marco's comments about things showing `up' at the wrong time, like at a restaurant. Our boats were new and just the look was exciting. First up and just for one loop were Ethan and Keith demonstrating to Kyle, Justin, Lorenzo and Marco how to get up on the skis and not to lean forward. The signal to the driver to `hit it'. Lorenzo and Marco were next and the boys were in about 3 feet of water. ... The tow line was out; Ethan and Keith were holding Lorenzo and Marco in position. ... The signal to `hit it' ............ The driver pushed the throttle all the way forward ...... Marco and Lorenzo came out of the water up on the skis like a rocket and forgetting about leaning backwards they dove headfirst into the water. Not so bad for the first time ... they did get up on the skis for 1 second. It was what happened next as they didn't let go of the towrope for nearly 6 seconds. ... Result was as they were being towed at highspeed through the water like a dolphin their Island swimsuits just slid right off 100 yards behind them leaving our Italian boys naked. Everyone laughing not just us but about 60 or 70 on the beach watching. Justin and Kyle next and it was a repeat performance. We all spent the next 2 hours having the best fun and learning how to put our swimsuits back on in the water as quickly as we could. It was just after 9 when we returned to Jabbering tired and having one of the best days filled with fun, excitement and great food. Jake and I had hugs and kisses as we all hit the sack for what we hoped would be a good night's sleep or something. The evening was very cool and Jake and I were in `the mood'. We soon found that we weren't the only ones in the mood. Was that soft tapping at the cabin door? ... it was. The door opened slowly but it wasn't Antonio and Kris nor the rug-rats it was Keith and Ethan and without asking permission they just crawled right on the bunk with Jake and me. Ethan said . . . . "Keith and I heard what you like and we thought you might like a little more tonight. ... I don't know about Jake but seeing Ethan and Keith naked I was hot, horny and ready for fun. Ethan and Keith spent the night. I was wrapped around Ethan and Jake around Keith. Sleep was amazing. The dreams were amazing. Ethan and Keith were amazing. Sex in the morning was amazing.
