I appreciate all my readers and I appreciate your patience with me. Last Time "You were Mary, my father Frank's girlfriend before he died. I was in college and never got home to meet you, or even know where you were or how to contact you," Gary cried, as he hugged Marilyn. Everyone in the room was shocked, as it dawned on them what Marilyn and Gary were now saying. "This means Davey is my half brother that I never got to know," he wailed as he turned and pulled Davey to him, while Jimmy joined them in a three way hug. Chapter Four Davey stood there in Gary's arms in total shock and confusion. He had heard what his mom said but somehow it just didn't register in his head. Seeing his mom in tears, he broke away from Gary and grabbed his mom in a tight hug. "I love you Mommy. Please don't cry," he said, as he hugged her and laid his head against her chest. "I'm sorry baby. I let this happen to you" she cried, holding her youngest child to her. "I should have seen something was wrong and stopped this long ago." she apologized. "Mom you didn't know, and you couldn't have stopped him," Davey assured her. "You have been the best mom in the world to me," Davey told her, earning a tighter hug and a kiss. Gary stood up, joining Marilyn and her son. "Little brother, no one is going to hurt you anymore; not now," Gary said as he hugged both Marilyn and Davey. "I pity anyone who tries to hurt my little brother from now on." "Does this mean I really am your brother?" Davey asked, as he looked at Gary with wide eyes. "You bet it does Brother, you bet it does," Gary boasted with pride. "You are my little brother now and forever." Gary had tears in his eyes as he hugged his little brother. His lover stood off to the side, watching the joy in his partner's eyes as he united with his lost brother. Jimmy knew Gary would take his position as big brother very seriously, as they had talked several times about Gary having a brother or sister somewhere he had never met. They had tried to find out what the mystery woman's last name was, but had never been able to. Now it all made sense why Gary's dad had been so secretive about Mary; she was married. "Jim, can you believe that, after all these years, we found him?" Gary was almost jumping up and down in excitement. In all the excitement, no one had noticed Allen and Kevin slip from the room. Jimmy joined his partner and his new family in a group hug. "Baby, I am so happy for you and for Davey. I'm just glad I was here today to witness this, though I wish it was under better circumstances." Jimmy winced remembering what had brought them all here together. "I know baby, but it will get better. Now my life is complete and the mystery is solved," Gary assured him and Davey. "I think I am gonna go out in the other room and talk to Allen and Kevin and give you boys some time to talk," Marilyn said as she released her hold on Davey, letting Gary and Jimmy hug him all they wanted too. "I am sure Davey will have some questions for you Gary, about your dad." "Our Dad," Gary corrected her. "Our dad, "he repeated, looking at Davey. Gary refused to let go of Davey as he pulled him back to the sofa and sat him down in his lap and cuddled him. Jimmy hugged Marilyn as they watched the two guys interacting. "They are so cute right now," Marilyn said, with tears streaming down her face. "I just wish they could have met years ago, and maybe this would not have happened to Davey." Jimmy tightened his hug, as it was plain to she was truly hurting for her son. "He is going to be ok now; we are gonna see to that," Jimmy told her. "He is home now too. There are some things we need to discuss later though. Seems our boy has a boyfriend," he continued. "He has a Boyfriend but he is only 14" Marilyn replied in shock. "He is too young for sex." "Hey now, don't get all upset. He isn't having sex. Well, not with his boyfriend anyway. We know that, after what has happened to him, he is not a virgin. But he has assured us he is not ready for sex," Jimmy assured her. "The thing is, his boyfriend is 10 yrs older than him and he has assured us he is not going to have sex with Davey until he is of age and I think we can trust him not to hurt Davey." "Did you say 10 yrs older? Who is this man?" Marilyn wanted to know. "How can he possibly be in love with my 14 year old son?" "Marilyn, as you know yourself, love knows no age limit and the young man Davey is in love with is very trust worthy, as you will find out," Jimmy assured her. What do you say you and I go meet your son's boyfriend, and leave these two to talk for a while?" Marilyn agreed as they quietly exited the room to join the others in the dining room, where Kevin was serving coffee. "Well, how are things going in there?" Kevin was the first to speak as Marilyn and Jimmy took a seat while he poured them coffee. "Gary and Davey are talking and getting to know one another," Jim said, smiling. "I don't know which one is more excited," he laughed. "Gary is like a kid again and, well, Davey is just being his hyper self right now with questions." The whole room laughed as they pictured the two in the other room. "I thought it would be a good time for Marilyn to get to know Davey's boyfriend," he said, looking slyly at Mike out of the corner of his eye and watching the young man sink a little lower in his seat. "Ok, so who is my son's boyfriend? The only single men I see in here are Michael and Lee," Marilyn said. "Don't look at me," Lee laughed "I am the token straight man in the room." "Well that only leaves Michael, I guess." She grinned, looking at Michael who was blushing bright red. "Well, is someone going to tell me? Or do I have to drag it out of you Michael?" Marilyn laughed as she reached to take Michaels hand in hers. Marilyn couldn't help but grin as she saw the fear in Michaels eyes. "It's ok Michael; you don't have to be afraid of me. I don't bite, at least not too hard," she chuckled. "Well I guess you could say I am the one. We just discovered our feelings for one another tonight," Michael answered her, still blushing. "I promise you, though, I will never hurt him. I know he has been hurt enough." "That's all I ask Michael, is please don't hurt him," Marilyn told him, as she squeezed his hand gently. "Now, changing the subject I guess, I should tell you all what happened in the other room," she said, prepared to tell them her confession. Kevin then spoke up and told her he had already explained everything. "Marilyn, I hope you won't think I was taking to much liberty, but I did explain to everyone that Davey and Gary are actual blood brothers." "Thank you Kevin, I appreciate you doing that. I was dreading having to go thru that again." Marilyn said with a sigh of relief. "I do hope none of you will think bad of me or Davey for this though." she offered. "Marilyn, I have known you for years, and I have never known you to be a bad or uncaring person. This will never change my feelings for you." Sister Baylor spoke after a long silence, as she had been letting everyone else talk while she was in thought and silent prayer. Lisa Baylor was a deeply religious figure in the church and took her position as pastor and leader seriously. She was always in prayer. "I still love you and Davey as much, if not more now, than I ever did. I am glad that Mike and Davey are going to be together, even though I am a little worried about the age difference," she continued. "And I expect to see all you young men in church Sunday morning. Don't make me come looking for you," she stated plainly, and with an air that would chill the room. Michael just tucked his head and looked out of the corner of his eye. He knew his grandmother and, when she spoke you were expected to obey or there would be hell to pay later. He was thinking how his father would react to having two openly gay couples coming into the church. Oh, he so wanted to see the look on his homophobic father's face. He wondered how his father would handle this, and couldn't help but laugh at the thought. "Guys, if I were you I would not be late on Sunday. When she says she will come looking for you, she means it." Mike laughed, seeing the men's faces after they were ordered to be in church on Sunday. "I know from experience, believe me." "I am not that bad young man" Lisa Baylor replied, as she swatted her grandson's head lightly. "Yes you are Grams. Remember when Timmy and I decided we were gonna skip church and go fishing? You left church, came to the lake, and drug us back to church in just our shorts and t-shirts," mike replied, as the room burst out in laughter. Everyone pictured the little lady dragging two boys in to church. "Well I for one am not taking that chance," Jimmy said between gasps from laughing so hard. "I think I agree with you," Allen said, as he too tried to stop laughing. Poor Kevin was still laughing so he couldn't answer. "I don't think I have laughed this much in years," Allen chuckled. "Well I am glad you all think it is so funny, because if you are not in church Sunday morning I promise you I will come drag you there," Lisa told them, letting them know she would get even with them if they failed to meet her expectations. "Oh Lord, you guys have had it now," Michael joked. "I'm glad I have a rodeo Sunday." He said this just to get a reaction out of his grandmother, knowing full well he had no rodeo and would not miss this for anything in the world. "Young man, if you are not there, too, I will come pull you horse and all into church. How would you like that?" Lisa came back at him, grabbing him by the ear. This brought another burst of laughter from the group. "Hey, I was only joking Granny," Michael said, in a faked tone of pain and calling his grandmother by a name he knew she hated. "You know I will be there Sunday. Is Davey gonna be able to sing Sunday Doc?" Michael directed at Kevin. "I don't see why not, if he is feeling up to it," Kevin replied, as Gary and Davey walked in the room, all smiles holding on to each other. No one noticed that Lee had been gone, until he returned also. "Marilyn, maybe you should stay here tonight, if it is okay with Jimmy and Gary." Lee said as he came back in the room. "Why Lee, what's wrong?" Marilyn asked, getting a worried look on her face. "it seems Carl got wind we were after him and has taken off. So I am not sure it will be safe for you back there. If there is anything you need from there, I can have a couple of my men escort you to get it, and you can get Davey's stuff for him," Lee stated. "I am gonna have someone keep a close eye on the house, in case he comes back. I want him caught as soon as possible." "I don't know what I'm gonna do. The house belongs to Carl's family and I know, when all this comes down, I will be thrown out," Marilyn replied, with a scared sadness in her voice. "Well for now you will stay here," Gary told her, as he put his arm around her. "I agree hon. We have plenty of room. No need for either of them to be in danger," Jimmy spoke up, agreeing with his lover. "There is no need for you to worry about the future, but we can discuss that later," Gary assured her. "What about Lady Linda? I can't leave her over there by herself. He would kill her if he got the chance, just to get back at me," Davey cried, as Mike pulled him into a hug. "Not to worry little bro. I'll take the trailer tonight and go get her," Gary assured him. "Okay. So why don't Marilyn and Gary go, and I will have some men go with them to protect them. Marilyn can get the stuff from the house, while Gary gets the horse and stuff from the barn, "Lee said, as he turned to his shoulder mounted radio and call for units to escort Marilyn and Gary to the house. "Well it is getting late and I really should be going," Lisa said. "Sister Baylor would it uh. . .?" Davey stuttered, as he tried to get out what he wanted to say. "Would, uh, it be ok if Mike stayed here with me tonight? he asked. "Please?" "Well, I think you should ask Gary and Jim that, don't you think young man? This is not my house," Lisa replied "Would it be ok Gary? " Davey slid his big sad eyes up at his brother as he asked, knowing full well what he was doing. "You bet little brother; how could I refuse those eyes," Gary said, melting under the gaze of Davey's bright eyes. "But, no funny stuff; you hear me young man? Both of you." Gary laughed as the boys blushed bright red. "if you are ready, Marilyn, we can go and get your stuff and get you settled in here," Gary said. As Marilyn and Gary prepared to leave, Lisa Baylor also got ready to leave. Michael and Davey stood up and hugged Lisa. "I love you Sister Baylor, "Davey told her, as he hugged her tightly. "I love you too my boy, I hope things are gonna be a lot better for you now," Lisa replied, with tears in her eyes. "And you take good care of him Michael; I will see you tomorrow," she told her grandson as she hugged him also. "Remember what I said, guys. I expect to see every one of you in church Sunday morning. " "I think we should be going too," Allen spoke up. "Davey really needs some rest" "I agree hon." Kevin answered. " Jim, if you need me in the night don't hesitate to call. I will set up an appointment Monday for surgery. Marilyn and I will get Davey in and out as quickly as possible. Davey you take it easy tonight and tomorrow, and I will check on you tomorrow sometime," Kevin told him. In just a few seconds, Davey, Michael and Jim were alone in the house. Michael pulled Davey to his feet and took him to the living room. He pulled him down on the sofa and held him close. As the two cuddled on the sofa, Davey began to yawn. Michael helped him get comfortable, laying against his chest, and before long Davey was sleeping soundly. Mike had begun to drift off himself. Jim walked into the room a few minutes later to find the two sleeping, cuddled close to one another. Both were smiling happily. Jim could still not believe that the young boy sleeping there was actually Gary's half brother. Gary was ecstatic to finally find his lost sibling. Jim wondered how his brothers and sisters would take the news. He knew they had all tried to find out who the mystery woman was and where the child might be after their Dad had told them about it just before his death. Seeing the sleeping duo, Jim decided not to disturb them. He went and got a blanket and covered them. Jim sat down in his recliner and turned the TV on low to watch the news. Without realizing how tired he was, Jim drifted off to dreamland himself. When they got back, Gary and Marilyn found all three guys sound asleep. Marilyn leaned down and kissed Davey and Mike on the forehead. Mike opened his eyes and smiled, as Marilyn whispered, "Take care of him, please Mike, " before returning to the kitchen to join Gary in a cup of coffee. Mike nodded his agreement before cuddling Davey closer and going back to sleep. "Marilyn, we need to talk." Gary spoke as he sat two cups of coffee down on the table. "As you know, my dad was a wealthy man, and before he passed away he had it fixed in his will that his unborn child, should he or she ever be found, would inherit part of his estate. Davey has one other brother and a sister, and I know they will be anxious to meet him. Dad left each one of us a house, but he left the main house for the child who we now know is Davey. You and Davey will have that house to live in as soon as we get the paperwork done. The house has been closed up for a number of years and may need a few repairs, which Jim and I will see to. The land joins our land and you can see the house from here." Gray stopped long enough to take a breather and take a few sips of his coffee. "I don't really get what you are saying. Well, I get what you're saying, but I guess I am just having a hard time believing this is happening," Marilyn answered, in near shock from hearing that her youngest son now owned a house, from a father he never knew. "I know once all this comes down, I will never be able to live in my house again. It belonged to my husband's family and it has never been transferred out of the family name. The house can never be sold, and must always be lived in by family. I know his family will throw me out once he is caught and convicted," Marilyn admitted. "Well, you and Davey have a place right here until we get the house in livable condition again," Gary offered. "Besides, it will give me and little brother a chance to get to know one another, and also have time for our brother and sister to meet him and get to know him. I will be calling them first thing in the morning to give them the news," Gary told her "I have four other children by my husband and they are all grown and out of the house. Davey was my youngest, and we know he is not my husband's, but your father's son. My other kids have always stuck up for their father against Davey, so I expect them to come down hard on me and Davey when they find out about this," Marilyn said, while tears streamed down her cheeks. Gary got up and went and knelt in front of Marilyn and hugged her. "Everything will be okay. I will not let anyone hurt my brother or you anymore. You will be safe here until he is caught and behind bars," Gary assured her. "As for your other children; if they still side with their father after all this, there is nothing I can do but protect you and Davey from them. I will do what ever it takes. I made Davey a promise that no one would ever hurt you or him again, and I intend to keep that promise. I also know a young man who will do everything he can to keep Davey safe." "I know. Michael seems like he is very fond of Davey. I just hope Davey doesn't get hurt," Marilyn sighed. "It is much more than fondness. I truly believe Michael loves Davey and the look in Davey's eyes tells me Davey loves him just as much, Gary corrected her." Now let me show you to your room. I know you have to be tired after the day you have had. The boys know where their room is if they decide to get up and go to bed." Gary got up and took Marilyn's hand to show her to her room." "You are so right. I could use a good rest, though I am not sure how much sleep I will get," Marilyn responded, following Gary up the stairs.
