Date: Wed, 8 Dec 2010 16:29:13 -0500 From: wild wing Subject: I'M AVAILABLE - 2 I awoke to a bright sun streaming into my bedroom. My thoughts immediately turned to Kevin and the meeting. I had to plan carefully. I didn't want to scare him by rushing into a relationship. I wanted to do my best for him but if I was honest with myself I desperately wanted him as a friend too. I showered and ejaculated again. Visions of Kevin were getting to be a habit. I put on a fresh shirt and added just a touch of cologne. I was full of nervous energy combined with sexual tension. My appetite had disappeared and I skipped breakfast. Attempts at calming myself failed. I was totally preoccupied. How stupid of me I reasoned. The odds of him showing up were practically nil. I was setting myself up for a massive let down. And yet? There was lots of time. I decided I didn't want to be too early. I left the house, purchased the morning paper and headed for the local coffee shop. Sipping on my favourite brew I read a column and a half of the first article before I realized that not a single word had sunk in. I turned my attention instead to reviewing over and over what I would say and do. When I felt my plan was just right I picked up my paper and drove to the park. The park was already busy with its usual Sunday collection of joggers, family picnickers, and of course boys of all ages who had come to partake in their favourite sport. I hardly noticed them. I only had eyes for Kevin. I kept staring up the path the boys had emerged from yesterday just in case he was early. I checked my watch every five minutes. At two minutes after one he was still no where in sight. I began to steel myself to the inevitable. "Hello, I'm here Max," he understated. My heart skipped a beat as I spun around. Kevin had crossed the field behind me and come in from an unexpected direction. Trying to sound as casual as possible I responded by saying, "Oh hi Kevin. I'm glad you could make it. Are you alone?" I don't know why I asked if he was alone. Perhaps it was apprehension or perhaps it was a product of nervous energy. It was a silly thing to ask. "Of course," he answered, "Nobody knows I'm here." Kevin sat quietly beside me clasping his hands together in his lap. He wore a blue tee shirt that appeared to be freshly ironed and his blond locks were neatly combed. In my eyes he was perfect. He smiled sweetly and lifted his eyebrows in anticipation. "Have you eaten today?" I inquired. "I ate a little," he replied and then added, "But I could eat again." "Great!" I smiled, "There's a real good diner in the area. Let's begin by getting something to eat. We need to get to know each other Kevin and over a meal is a good way to do it. Do you agree?" "Sure Max, anything you say." We were like two prize fighters feeling each other out in the first round. We were both working hard at not making a mistake. We drove to the eatery and sat in one of the back booths away from the crowd. I let Kevin choose anything he wanted on the menu. Not surprisingly he opted for a hamburger with the works and a pepsi. A little hungrier myself now I ordered a BLT. "Look," I explained, "This may not be what you expected but I think it's important that we have a chance to ask questions of each other. Here's the rules. Anything goes. I get to ask one question on any topic I choose. Then you get to ask me one question on the same topic or a different one of your choice. Each of us must promise to tell the truth. Okay?" "Sounds like fun," Kevin grinned. "How old are you Kevin?" I began. "I've just turned thirteen, and how old are you? "I'm thirty-one," I admitted. "Boy, that's pretty old," he smirked. "You won't think so when you reach thirty-one. What grade are you in?" "Grade seven," he replied. "What do you do for a living?" "I'm an architect," I told him. And so it went. I delved into his likes and dislikes and then I delved into his home life. We both stayed away from the S topic. He lived with a single mother and never knew his father. There were no siblings. Life at home was apparently all right but he appeared none to enthusiastic to talk about it. Mom spent her time with various boyfriends and didn't seem to care how he spent his time. He loved rock and roll and video games. He liked sports too, especially football. Kevin was a delight to talk to. He was open and direct and yet thoughtful. I figured him to be of better than average intelligence even though he admitted his marks were only so so. I loved his smile and the way he cocked his head and lifted his eyebrows to stress a point. Even at this juncture I felt myself falling in love with him. My final question was, "Kevin if I had the power to grant you one wish and give you anything you wanted what would it be?" Kevin's eyes lit up and he slowly nodded his head up and down, "That one's pretty easy Max because I've wished it for a long long time. I wish I had a father." He paused and smiled shyly before continuing, " And you Max, what do you wish for?" "Well there are a bunch of wishes I'd like," I replied. "But certainly right up there is that one day I would like to have a son." We looked at each other and said nothing for several moments. Kevin had the sweetest smile one could imagine. His deep blue eyes were sparkling and somehow seemed to express hope for the future. I felt very warm inside. Video arcades were still in vogue in those days. We spent the next few hours dropping quarters. He was a wiz and I was pathetic. Instead of bragging and flaunting his talent as most boys would have Kevin was more interested in demonstrating some of his technique to me so that I might improve. I wanted the day to go on forever but alas it had to end. As I drove towards his home Kevin changed from being affable to somewhat morose. It was obvious he didn't want to go home. He asked to be dropped off at a corner. If he didn't want me to know where he lived that was okay by me. I wasn't going to push it. There was a parkette just down the street from the corner and he asked if I would meet him there after school tomorrow. "What about your mom?" I reminded him. "I told you she won't care. She will be happy to have me out of the house." Before he opened the car door he turned to me and smiled once more, "I really had a great time today. Thanks Max! I like you.... a lot." He then reached over and unexpectantly kissed me lightly on the cheek. I went to respond but before I could he was on the sidewalk. I watched his lithe frame as he cut through the parkette to a street hidden behind.
