They were talking between themselves about all of the things they wanted to see and do at Disney World. Maggie and I just sat and listened to them ramble on. I was pleased to see the boys so happy. The vision of two beautiful boys, filled with joy and excitement, was the perfect picture to leave as a final memory for Maggie. Something to cling to as she lived out her final days. Each of us hopes to leave this world a legacy when we go. Maggie could take comfort in knowing that the beautiful fruit of her womb had indeed made the world a brighter place. When dinner was finished, the boys helped Mihai clear the table. Then we said our goodbyes to Mihai before climbed into the SUV. We made our way up I-95 and hoped to be at the Grand Floridian by 10:00pm. As we drove along, the boys started singing ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall. One thing was certain. The singing chromosome was woefully lacking in the Simmons gene pool. But it was entertaining none the less. Occasionally I glanced over at Maggie, and she was wearing a look of dread. "I won't pretend to know how you feel Maggie. But please try and put the future out of your mind. At least for next couple of days. Be happy and enjoy this time with your boys. Don't just do it for them. Do it for yourself, Maggie." I stated, as I reached over and took hold of her hand. "You're a good man Tim Stevens. I will try to enjoy this time as much as I can." she replied with a weak smile, as she squeezed my hand. "You seem to like music, Curtis." I observed. "Yes I do. I play the organ." Curtis replied. "Most boys your age do, Curtis." I chided. "The electric organ, Tim." Maggie stated, as she smacked my arm. The boys were cracking up in the back. "Oh! Sorry." I replied, with a devilish grin. We drove on through the evening and Maggie's mood seemed to brighten a bit. She was starting to relax enough to enjoy our little mini-vacation. I reached in my pocket and pulled out five folded thousand dollar bills. I handed them to Maggie and told her she was to indulge herself while we were at Disney World. At first she refuse the bills but I insisted, so she put the money in her purse and thanked me. As we pulled into the parking lot at the Grand Floridian, the nightly fireworks display was starting. The skies were filled with beautiful color. "You see Maggie, they are giving us a special welcome." I chuckled. She smiled broadly as we started unloading the bags. We walked inside and I gave the desk clerk my name. He informed us that we had been given two of their very best adjoining suites overlooking the beach. I thanked him and we all took our key cards. The boys grabbed a map for each of the parks and then we headed up to our suites. The suites were very nice. Each had two queen sized beds with a night stand between them, a small table with two easy chairs, a small sofa, an entertainment center, a mini-bar and refrigerator, a roomy bathroom, and a full closet. Both suites had private balconies as well. The suits were joined by a door which locked on both sides. When we had unpacked our things, I knocked on the door to Maggie's suite and Curtis opened it. We all went out onto the balcony of my suite and took a seat. We had a great view of the lake, and of the Magic Kingdom across the lake. My cell phone rang and I answered it. It was the Director of Security on Jason's Haven. He needed to talk to James. I handed the phone to James and listened to one side of the conversation. "Terminate him immediately." James said in an irritated voice. "Have the Purser from the second rotation flown out to the island so that he can join the ship until we can find a replacement." Maggie sat in amazement as she listened to James on the phone. "He really does run the company then?" she asked as she looked at me. "Yes Maggie, he really does run the company. And he is very good at it. Your son is one of the most talented and gifted business managers I have ever met." I replied. Maggie was beaming with pride as she looked back at James. "No! There is no warning for such an offense. Get rid of him now." James said into the phone. There was a few moments of silence before James said goodbye and hung up the phone. "What was that all about James?" I asked curiously. James looked at Maggie before turning to look at me. I could tell he was uncomfortable discussing the matter in front of her. "The Purser on Caribbean Angels was caught engaging in forbidden activity with a member of the crew." he replied carefully. "Oh my!" Maggie exclaimed, as she blushed. "Then you made the right call James. The rules are very clear on that issue." I stated. "Thanks Tim." he replied with pride. "I still can not believe you run a corporation all by yourself." Maggie stated. "Well aunt errrr, I am not sure what I should call you." James said hesitantly. "Call me whatever you are comfortable with son." she replied. "Well Maggie, I don't run the company all by myself. I have a lot of help. I just make the big decisions. I have a wonderful staff that actually handles the day to day business of the company." he replied. I saw the sadness in her eyes when James called her Maggie. I felt sorry for her, but I understood James' reluctance to call her mom. This was all still very new to him. He would need time to accept it, if he ever did. "I am still very proud that you have turned out to be such a smart and talented young man, son." she replied. She made a gallant effort to disguise her sadness. I was quite sure she understood James' confusion as well. "So which park do you boys want to visit tomorrow?" I asked, trying to change the subject. "I would like to see the Magic Kingdom tomorrow." Curtis stated. "Yeah! The Magic Kingdom." James added. "How about you Maggie?" I asked. "The Magic Kingdom sounds fine to me." she replied. "Okay, the Magic Kingdom it is then. Why don't you boys run inside and look at the map to see what rides you would like to try?" I asked. The boys went back into the suite and closed the balcony door behind them. "It's going to take a little..." I started to explain, before Maggie interrupted me. "It's okay, Tim. I had no delusions that this was going to be easy on him. I will take whatever he is willing to give me." she said as the tears started flowing again. My heart was breaking for her, but this was not something I could fix. James has seen the worst inhumanity, and the best of humanity. It was his choice to apply these experiences to the situations in his life. If he followed his heart, he would surely find his way. "Maggie, I don't think it is a good idea for you to go through the worst of your illness alone. You will need someone to look after you." I stated boldly. "There are institutions for that, Tim." Maggie replied. "No one should spend their final days in an institution. I would like for you to consider moving into my residence in Miami. You could maintain your independence for as long as possible, and then my housekeepers could look after you when you need someone to help." I stated. "Why are you doing all of this, Tim?" she asked meekly. "I am nothing to you." she stated. "You're wrong Maggie! You are the mother of my life partner. That makes us family. And families take care of their own." I said with a smile. "You really are one of a kind, Tim Stevens!" she exclaimed as she leaned over to kiss me on the cheek. "We better turn in. I have a feeling we are going to be very busy chasing boys tomorrow." I chided. "I'm sure your right, Tim." she chuckled as we stood up and walked back into the suite. The boys were at the table mapping out the insanity that tomorrow would bring. I informed the boys that it was time for bed. Curtis asked James if he would sleep with him tonight. "Is that alright, Tim?" James asked. "I think that would be very sweet James." I replied. Maggie and Curtis walked into their suite while James and I said goodnight. We kissed several times before James looked into my eyes as though searching for answers to his confusion. "Follow your heart, angel. Just follow your heart." I whispered. "I love you James. Goodnight." "I love you too, Tim. Goodnight." he replied before walking into Maggie's suite and closing the door. I got undressed and climbed into bed. It had been a very long and emotional day. I only hoped that tomorrow would bring the beginning of clarity for my lover's confusion. I adjusted my head on the pillow and drifted off to sleep. I was awakened by a soft rapping on the door. I crawled out of bed and opened the door adjoining our suites. It was Maggie, and she was standing their with her jaw dropped. It took me a second to realize why. "Oh shit!" I exclaimed as I closed the door. I was clearly not used to having females around me. I quickly grabbed some clean underwear and a pair of shorts. After I had dressed, I went back and knocked on the door. Maggie answered the door and then walked into my suite. She closed the door softly behind her. "I am so sorry Maggie. I am not use to having a woman around me. Please forgive me." I begged. "It's quite alright, Tim." she chuckled. "It's a pity you don't like women. You're a very attractive man." "Thank you. Would you care for some coffee?" I asked. "Yes, that's why I came over. I thought we could enjoy a cup before the boys woke up." she replied. I walked over to the counter and started a pot of coffee. Maggie took a seat at the table and I joined her. "So how did it go last night?" I asked curiously. "It was wonderful, Tim. Thank you for being so understanding about James sleeping with Curtis." she replied. "James told me about where you live." "He did?" I asked in surprise. "Relax Tim! I think it sounds like a beautiful place." she stated. "It is very nice Maggie. And all of the boys are very safe there." I assured her. "Curtis will be living in our house though. And I can assure you he will be well supervised." "I have no doubts about that Tim. I am grateful you have agreed to take him." she replied. I got up and poured two cups of coffee and brought them back to the table. We chatted for almost half an hour before we decided to get the boys up and moving. Maggie opened the door to her suite and stopped dead in her tracks. "Tim, come look at this." She said quietly. I walked over to the door a look inside the suite. There on the bed were two gorgeous sleeping angels. They were both in the raw, and their arms and legs were intertwined as they lay wrapped around each other. It was a picture that Rembrandt himself would have swooned over. "You sure made two beautiful boys Maggie." I said, without taking my eyes off of them. "They are very stunning aren't they." she replied. She walked over and gently woke the boys with a kiss on the forehead. "Good morning boys." she said, as the pair rubbed their eyes and stretched. James glanced over and saw me standing in the doorway watching. He quickly jumped out of bed a ran over to me. His kissed me on the lips and said good morning before walking into our suite. I told Maggie to come back over when Curtis was dressed and then I closed the door. I took two steps towards the bed and James ran to hug me. "We didn't do anything, Tim! Honest we didn't. He just sleeps in the nude so I did too." James said in a panic. "Easy, my angel! Do you think I am angry? That is your brother, James. I know you well enough to know you would never do anything with your own brother. It was fine to sleep nude with him. In fact, I thought the two of you looked quiet beautiful laying there together." I replied, before giving him a passionate kiss. "So your not angry or jealous?" he asked cautiously. "James, I love you. I know that you love me. I trust you, and I don't believe you would ever fool around with anyone else." I stated confidently. "So how did things go with you and Maggie last night?" "I love her, Tim. But she is acting like she has been my mother all my life, instead of just for two days." he replied. It was clear to me that the boy in James was doing the thinking where Maggie was concerned. His emotions were drowning out his maturity. "James, she has been your mother all of your life. You just did not know it. She wanted you to know it but your adoptive parents said no. That's not exactly her fault, is it?" I asked. "No. I guess not." he replied. "Just give it some time, James. Take it one day at a time and see how things go." I said lovingly. "Now lets get ready to have some fun!" I exclaimed. James and I dressed for the park and then waited for Maggie and Curtis to join us. Five minutes later, Maggie knocked on the door. Our little group was ready to visit the happiest place on earth. We went downstairs and made our way to the ferry that would take us to the Magic Kingdom. The boys ran us from one end of the park to the other. They were little balls of energy and it did not take long before Maggie and I were worn out. We told the boys that we were going to rest for a while and to meet us in front of Cinderella's Castle at 2:00pm sharp. Maggie and I made our way to a little eatery. Maggie found us a table while I got a couple of cold drinks. I brought the drinks back to the table and had a seat next to Maggie. "Having fun?" I asked. "I sure am Tim! But James still seems to be a little reserved around me." she responded. "Give it time Maggie." I said compassionately. After we finished our drinks, we made our way over to watch Cinderellabration. The show was absolutely fabulous and the air conditioned theater made it all the better. When the show was over, it was almost time to meet up with the boys. As we made our way over to the Castle, we passed a restroom and Maggie told me to go ahead. She had to take a potty break but she would catch up with me. I spotted the boys sitting on a bench near the Castle. I snuck up behind them trying to scare them. As I crept ever closer, I heard them chatting with each other. "Man, it feels good to sit down. Aren't you tired?" James asked. "Heck no! Mom and me used to walk at least five miles a night in Miami." Curtis answered. "She must really like to walk." James stated. "Not really. We were out searching for you. Mom drove us downtown every evening and we walked around looking for someone that knew where you were. She always cried when we came home without any information about you. She was afraid you were dead." "You guys have been searching for me? For how long?" James asked in shock. "Almost four years now. It wasn't until mom found something from the courts about you in uncle Harold's papers that we were able to find you." Curtis explained. "I can't believe she has been searching for me all this time. I thought she would hate me just like her brother did." James stated, almost in tears. "No way bro! She hated the way uncle Harold treated you. She called him a horses ass." Curtis replied. "I can think of a few names that are better than that for the bastard." James snapped. "None of that matters now James. We found you and I am with my brother. And nothing is going to tear us apart. I just wish mom wasn't dying. Then we could all stay together." Curtis stated as he burst into tears. His sobbing became uncontrollable and his whole body was shaking. My heart was crushed watching the scene that was playing out in front of me. James held Curtis in his arms and he too started sobbing. "Don't worry little brother. I will take care of you. We will get through this together." James sobbed. Just then, I saw the light bulb go on inside James' mind. He had just quoted the line that I told him my father said to me after Jason's death. My advice about following his heart was beginning to sink in. Just then, Maggie shouted "boo" and nearly made me fall on my ass. The boys heard the commotion and turned to look at us. James bolted from the bench and flew into his mother's arms. "I love you mom!" he cried out through a river of tears. When Maggie heard James call her mom, she burst into tears as well. "I love you too my son." she blubbered. Just then, Curtis ran over and joined them in a group hug. The three of them stood there with their arms wrapped tightly around each other and the tears were flowing freely. I too was moved to tears at the sight of a mother, who had reestablished a bond with one of her sons. Now she must prepare herself to bid them both a final farewell. I left them to their reunion as I watched in silence. After a few minutes, they all managed to regain their composure. "I have an idea. Follow me." I stated. I lead the group down to Mickey's House and told them to have a photo made of the three of them with Mickey. When it was their turn to have their picture taken, I watched as the three of them huddled around Mickey. "Wait!" Maggie shouted. "Tim, get you buns over here and get in this picture. You're part of this family too!" she exclaimed. I stepped in and joined the huddle. The picture was amazing and I bought a whole package of the photos which included two 8" X 10" portraits. The rest of the day was a whole new adventure. Maggie and her two sons were stuck together like glue for the entire afternoon and evening. We ended up in front of Cinderella's Castle for an open air music show. We grabbed a seat and watched as all of the Disney characters sang their signature songs. The final performer was Jiminy Cricket. "When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come to you. If your heart is in your dream. No request is too extreme. When you wish upon a star, as dreamers do. Fate is kind, she brings to those who love. The sweet fulfillment of, their secret longing. Like a bolt out of the blue. Fate steps in and sees you through. When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true." the life sized character sang. I watched Maggie clutching her two sons, one on either side of her. Her search for James was finally over. I looked into her eyes, and saw pure contentment. She had made peace with her end. To be continued...
