Reid and Elliott now realize that they have wasted a lot of time together and are hoping to be able to begin a long lasting relationship. Both young men wonder about the effect that Grant may have on their future. Only time will answer this question. ______________________________________________________________________________ Peter and Grant are awakened by an insistent knock on the bedroom door, "come on boys out of the sack, got things to do" they hear Peter's dad calling. Outside the boys' door, Mr. Cochran hears almost as one voice "yes sir." He smiles as he walks back downstairs. He remembers a friend in his college days and the relationship they had started so easily together. Yes, he understood the boys only too well and vowed that they would live as they wanted to live. As he walks into the kitchen, his wife looks up and seeing her husband smiling, she asks "what is so funny this morning Charles? Have you wakened the boys yet?" "As to the second part of your inquiry, yes the boys have been wakened. Now the first part. Ella I have never lied to you and do not intend to start now. I was thinking about Victor Marshall and when we were in college. All of that happened before you and I married and it was only fair telling you. I have loved no one since and never will except of course our children." "But Charles, why think of that now and you are not going to tell them are you?" "Oh no, I would never do that Ella, that is between you and I and long since buried. When I knocked on the door upstairs and heard both of them answer almost like one, it brought back the memories of Victor. No, my love, that is all dead history. I hope these two kids have a lot easier time of it because they are young and don't fully realize what our bigoted, narrow minded society thinks about male love. Walking over to her husband, Ella Cochran places her arms around his waist and looking at him says "I love you Charles Cochran and will always be grateful for the two wonderful children you gave me and our life together." Looking into her husbands eyes, she sees the deep abiding love he has for her and no words will express that. As they are standing there embraced, Peter and Paul burst into the room and slide to a halt "whoa, did we come in at a bad time?" Peter asks. Turning to face his son, he says "Peter there is never a bad time to tell someone you love them especially in your own home. You guys got something to do before breakfast, like a paper route?" Both boys nod yes and dash for the door. Over his shoulder Peter calls "takes about an hour Dad not much longer. " He grins at Grant as they run for their bicycles. Grant is puzzled. Still holding each other and watching the boys run out the door, Charles looks at his wife and whispers got an hour if you feel like a little extra rest this morning. Pam is gone and we are alone." Looking at her husband Ella whispers "is that all you have on your mind lover?" They move to their bedroom. Skidding to a stop at the newspaper drop, Grant asks Peter "Why did you tell your dad it would take an hour to deliver the newspapers, you know it only takes about half an hour if that." "Grant, have you ever seen your mom and dad hold each other like mine just were?" "No" Grant answers "They never do that in front of Brad and me." "Well buddy, if you had then you would know they want to be alone. Pam and I always knew when mom and dad wanted to make love and we would leave on some excuse or the other. Hell, they need sex to or we wouldn't be here and that would be a bitch, lover." Thinking for a moment, Grant's eyes got big. "Oh shit, he said. Now I know why my parents sometimes sent Brad and me off to the movies on Sunday afternoon. Damn, never thought about that before." Peter and Grant laugh and punch each other in the arms. The paper truck pulls up and drops off two bundles of paper without a word from the driver. A grumpy old fart is what Peter called him. Both boys fold them and put them into the baskets on the back and front of their bicycles. Grant took one side of the street and Peter the other. Tossing the papers on porches, they are making good time when Grant reaches Aaron's house. As he is about to toss the paper, he hears his name called "Grant, Grant. Can I talk with you for a moment?" The voice startled Grant and he almost falls from his bicycle. Catching his balance, he looks and sees Aaron standing behind the tall cedar bush at the end of the walkway. " Whew, you scared the shit out of me Aaron." Looking at Grant, Aaron's eyes run up and down his beautiful body clad in tight tennis shorts and pull over muscle shirt. Grant seems to be even more magnificent then when he ran out the back door. "I'm sorry Grant, didn't mean to do that. Do you have time to come inside? I want you to meet someone and talk." Grant looks around and sees Peter rushing towards him. Waiting for Peter before he answers. Peter slides to an abrupt stop with "anything wrong Grant?" He sees Aaron standing by the bush. "No Peter, this is Aaron and he has asked me to come inside so I can meet someone and talk, you want to go in?" "Sure, bud, no problem. Lets go." Both boys walk up the steps and inside the house after laying their bicycles down. For the first time, Aaron meets Peter and is struck by the way he was almost a twin of Grant. Not as heavily built and blond but otherwise another beauty of masculine youth. The broad shoulders and tapered torso to a small waist indicate a well built and defined body. The well muscled biceps and golden hair on shaped and firm forearms. His sleeveless pullover fits like another skin and the pronounced bulge in his cutoffs show he is very well proportioned and endowed. They shake hands inside the door and it is firm and friendly. Walking into the kitchen, they see a good looking young man sitting at the table and he rises as they enter. "Elliott, this is Grant and Peter. They deliver the newspaper in the neighborhood." Extending his hand Elliott greets both of them "Good to meet you guys, have heard about you from Aaron." Aaron awkwardly asks "you guys want some juice, milk or something?" Peter and Grant decline and Aaron sits down to a very awkward silence. No one speaks for a few seconds. Suddenly Grant says "Aaron, I am sorry about the way I ran out on you the other day, can you forgive me for doing that to you?" Glancing at Elliott, Aaron answers "Grant that was the best thing you could have done for me. There is nothing to really forgive except maybe my trying to hold on to you knowing it was not a good thing to do." Listening to Aaron closely before he speaks, Grant hears Peter ask "what do you mean by the best thing he could have done Aaron?" Elliott looks up and just as Aaron is about to answer he injects "Peter, Aaron wanted Grant, Christ who would not if they are truly gay. For that matter who would not want you as well, you are not hard on the eyes. However, Aaron knew Grant was young, still had school to attend and no way of supporting himself if Aaron were to proposition him." They sit for a moment before Elliott continues "what Aaron is going to try and tell you is that when Grant left him, he called me and I came over. Aaron and I have known each other since high school and we have long loved each other but the Grant's of the world kept getting in Aaron's way. He could not accept getting older without someone younger around him. Grant made him finally realize that and we have made a commitment to each other. I have a hunch you guys have made the same commitment to each other." Hearing all of this, Grant sighs "gee, being gay can really get to be a pain can't it?" Reaching out and placing his hand on Grant's forearm, Elliott says "no Grant it does not have to be that way. If you truly love someone then there is no pain involved except that you inflict yourself. Being gay lovers means you must work harder at being a couple. Aaron and I have about a 10 year head start on you but we want to be your friends if you want us too." As he reaches for Grant's hand and holding it tight he tells Elliott and Aaron "my parents know about us and are supporting us. Grant's parents do but his father is set against them. Grant is living with me now and my dad is going to convert an open loft over the garage into an apartment for them both. Going to school is in the immediate future and with what they have in trust and insurance that was left by grandparents, they should be okay for now." Looking at Grant he continues "Grant and I would love to be your friends and be able to talk with you and maybe go out once in awhile together." Looking at Peter as he smiles Grant says "Yeah that would be great." Aaron has said very little until now and looking at both boys, he says "man am I ever glad to get this load off my mind. I love both of you." Peter and Grant grin and then Peter exclaims "God Grant, mom and dad are going to be looking for us. We got to run fellas." Jumping up they head for the door and just about to open it when they turn to say goodbye feel strong arms wrap around their waists and hear from Aaron and Elliott "you guys come back anytime, okay?" as they are kissed on the cheeks. Peter and Grant squeeze them both and kiss them on the cheeks feeling their tight bodies pressed against each other. Pulling the door open they grab their bicycles and rush for home looking back and waving as they leave the yard. Aaron and Elliott wave at them. Peddling hard, they reach Peter's house just as his mom is setting the table for breakfast. Hearing the boys, she calls out "wash up, breakfast is almost on the table and calls for her husband as well." Washed up, they sit down to a huge breakfast of ham, eggs, hash brown potatoes, toast, jelly, coffee and milk. They all eat hungrily and Peter notices the gleam in his dad's eye as he glances at his mother. He nudges Grant's leg and nods at his parents. Grant smiles back. As they are finishing up, Mr. Cochran asks Grant "what time does your father leave for work Grant?" "He usually leaves about 7AM sir, why?" "Well you need more clothes then Ella brought up last night and I thought you might call your mother and if it is okay, you and Peter could go down and get what you need or want." "I'm sure it would be okay sir but I will call her now if you don't mind?" Grant gets up and walks to the phone and dials his mother's number. After speaking with her, he walks back to the table and tells Peter and his dad that it was okay and they could go down anytime. Peter jumps up and says "lets go now and get that out of the way Grant." When they reach Grant's house, they sit at the table with his mother. Mrs. Benson takes both boys hands in hers and tells them "I am so happy you two will be together. I could tell years ago when you were babies that you had something special between you." Grant sees tears in his mother's eyes and feels a lump in his throat. Looking at Peter, he sees his eyes are a little watery also. Leaning over he kisses his mother's cheek "mother I will always love you and I am sorry if I have hurt you and dad." As she looks at her son, she says "Grant don't worry about your father, he will eventually realize what has happened and that will end it. He loves you very much and that may be why he is so angry right now. But give him time, he will be okay. Your brother Brad will be home next Sunday and you can see him and tell him what you want too. You know he adores you. Now then, lets get your clothes and things you want." Sandwiching Grant's mother between them, they hug and kiss her on both cheeks with a "we love you." After two trips of carrying things up to Peter's, both of them are exhausted. Boxes are stacked in Peter's room and they look around wondering what they are going to do with it all. Moving towards each other they embrace and lay their heads on each others shoulders with a big sigh as they fall on the bed swinging their legs up as they do still holding onto each other. Laying there in a soft kissing embrace, they slip off into sleep, exhausted after the work they had done. Thinking he might be able to help, Peter's dad walks into the bedroom and seeing the two boys asleep in each others arms he quietly closes the door and goes back downstairs... _______________________________________________________________________________ After Peter and Grant have left, Elliott and Aaron embrace and in a deep passionate kiss they move back into the bedroom for a late breakfast of passion fruit... ______________________________________________________________________________ Send comments to: mariner23502@hotmail.com
