I sat down and realized that I had to choose my words carefully as this could and probably would be a touchy situation. Michelle's mouth hung open, and she was trying to put words together to form a coherent statement or question. Dr. Chesterfield and Dr. Bennett did not know what to say. I suddenly felt my face turn hot, so I knew that I was blushing which is something that I had not done in years. I said "I am so sorry for blurting out and upsetting the decorum of this room, but I too, have a confession to make. You may have already realized what it is, but I am going to add some substance to it, so that you will totally understand. But, before I reveal everything, I have to tell this group that this revelation has to be handled with the utmost care as there are several people that could be hurt by this news." Michelle found her voice, and said "Doug, are you sure?" I said "I will answer that in a few minutes, but let me think on how I want to tell this story." Everyone sat at the table and looked at me. Finally, I had an outline in my head, so I began. This story began in 1999 when I was in college. I wanted to buy a something special. I approached my parents and explained that I needed to borrow some money or take it out of my savings account that they controlled. They refused, but being the headstrong man that I am, I persisted in my efforts to find the money to make my purchase. I was sitting in the Student Union one afternoon and overheard two students talking about making some money on the side as sperm donors. I listened and eventually, I asked if I could join their conversation as we were sitting very close together. They invited me over, so I began to ask a number of questions about becoming a sperm donor. They told me it was a little more involved than I was probably thinking. They gave me the clinic's address, but told me to call and make an appointment before going there. I went back to my apartment, called and made an appointment for a few days later. I went to the clinic, completed a lot of paperwork and had to supply them with my medical records, my academic records, and other personal information. I was given a code that I was told to use as my name would never be associated with the samples, nor in the catalog. That was almost eighteen years ago, and as soon as you said the code number, it jogged something in my memory and then bingo, I remembered. Michelle said "Doug, my mind jumps to a number of questions, but first and foremost, are you planning on trying to get custody of Myles?" I said "Michelle, I have just found out that he is my son, and really you and I have already been sharing him over the years. I can tell you, and I will put it in writing that I will not do anything legally to take him away from you. Sharing yes, but not taking him from you. She then said "There are a number of issues that we have to discuss, but right now we need to focus on his medical issues." She then turned to the doctors and said "We now have both parents, so does that help?" Dr. Bennett said "It would be easier if we had a sibling, but we don't, so we will have to try one of you." I looked at Michelle and said "I will do it, because I have help at the house, and you don't" She thanked me, and then, Dr. Bennett continued "We will do a swab of your mouth and collect a DNA sample, send it off for analysis and wait for the results. If the results come back positive, then we will know that we will have a donor, in the event that one is needed." Dr. Chesterfield said "I can say that I have never had a meeting like this one today, and I must tell both of you that what has occurred in here will be held in the strictest confidence." Dr. Bennett agreed. Michelle said "I am still in shock, but really and truly, I am relieved to know who his Dad is, and I couldn't have picked out a better man." We finished our meeting with the doctors after learning that they were considering releasing Myles tomorrow, but would hold off making that commitment until they examined him in the morning. Michelle and I walked down the hallway and found a vacant waiting room. I said "I know that we have to talk because there are many things which have to be dealt with, but I am not prepared to do that right now. She said "I agree. I would like to have some time to think through this as I don't want him hurt, and I don't want rumors in the neighborhood." I said "Michelle, I completely understand as I have to tell Ryan, Phil, and my parents. She said "Well, I don't have parents anymore because they cut ties with me, but it would be nice to have some support." I said "Michelle, we are not going to battle over this, we are in this together and whatever is best for Myles is what we are going to do. We have shared him, not knowing in the past, and I don't see why that cannot continue into the future." She said "I need to get back up to his room. What are you going to do?" I said "I am going home because if I go to see him, I will not be able to keep it from him, and you know he would look at me and immediately know that something was up." She said "Doug, I don't think we need to keep this from him much longer. I would like the night to think things over, and then, have a meeting tomorrow to put our plan together. I think we owe him honesty. How are you going to talk to Ryan about this?" I said "I don't know, I don't have a plan, but I agree with you on thinking about it tonight, and then, meeting tomorrow." About that time, a family entered the waiting room, so we stood up and walked into the hallway. I said "I will call you at lunch tomorrow to see how things are going, and then, we will plan our get together for later in the afternoon, but I have to go home and get Ryan ready for the first day of school. She turned and began to walk to Myles' room while I headed to the parking lot. My drive home was so strange. I would never, in a billion years, thought that I would have another son, and to have known him for years just blows me away. I wanted to buy a several billboards and announce it, but I knew that this had to be handled with kid gloves. I called Ryan and asked if Phil was home, he said "No," so I asked what was he thinking about eating for dinner. He said "I really don't know, I don't want Mexican, I don't want subs, I don't want pizza, I don't want steak, and I really can't think of anything that just sounds good tonight. You know, if Myles was here, that wouldn't be a problem." I smiled to myself because it was a true statement. I said "Well, let me call Phil and see what he says." I called Phil, and he said that he was on the way home. I asked him what he wanted to eat and he said "Let Ryan decide." I told him that Ryan didn't have any suggestions, so Phil said "Let's go to that little Italian Restaurant just before you get on the interstate. I'm almost home, so I will run in, shower and then, we can be on our way. I continued home, and Phil had already arrived. I went in, and Ryan wanted to know about Myles. I gave him an update regarding his medical condition, but did not say anything else. It was killing me on the inside to keep my other news quiet. Phil walked into the room and was dressed in shorts, polo and deck shoes. I grabbed the keys, and they joined me. I drove to the restaurant; we got out, went in, were immediately seated and reviewed the menu. After looking at the menu, I decided that we would do the family special which was lasagna, a large bowl of spaghetti with meatballs and a red sauce, a salad, breadsticks, and drinks. While we waited for our food, I asked Phil about his day, and he talked about how much progress that they are making and that they will soon finish Phase I and start Phase II. Ryan wanted to know what phase the creek was in, and Phil said "Ryan, the creek is not in a phase." Both Ryan and I looked at Phil with questioning looks. He said "I made an offer, and the creek property is mine. It will not be developed with multiple houses. It will be a one house development." I was stunned that he had made that type of deal, but he had hinted that he was thinking of doing something, so I guess he did it. Ryan looked down at his phone when it beeped and said that Jay and Rob wanted to know what time they had to be at the house in the morning. I told him to tell them no later than seven o'clock. He texted them that information, and as he put his phone down, our food was served. We had a very good authentic meal, and the conversation was free flowing. It was exactly what I needed, because I didn't need to think about Myles, because if I did, I would blurt out what had been revealed today. I did however, zone out once and Phil had to snap his fingers to bring my attention back to the table. He asked what was wrong, and I covered by saying that I was thinking of everything that I had to do before my classes started tomorrow morning. Ryan said that he would just like to have one more week before he had to go back, and I thought wouldn't we all. We finished our meal and returned home. Ryan went to his room and closed his door. Phil walked down to our room, and I stayed in the family room. I lay back on the sofa and replayed today's meeting with Michelle, Dr. Bennett, and Dr. Chesterfield. I tried to think of how we should break this news to Myles and how I should break it to Ryan and Phil. I decided that under no conditions would I reveal what I had used the money for, as I didn't want Myles to feel that he had been used for that object. I thought that maybe Michelle should tell him without me in the room, but then I thought that she probably didn't want to have to confess too much, so it looked like it was back to us. After I had mapped out my idea, I walked back to the bedroom. Phil was already in bed and had turned out the lights. I closed the door, walked over to the bed, pulled down the sheet on my side and lay down. Phil rolled over, and said "Doug, I have let you have your alone time tonight, but when you are ready to talk, I am here to listen. I figure your mood and mind is all about Myles. I think I can talk intelligently about cancer, chemotherapy, and maybe answer some of your questions. I leaned over and kissed Phil. I said "Phil, I know you would, but I have to work some things out in my mind before tomorrow. Some of it is school related, and some of it does deal with Myles." I rolled over on my side facing away from Phil, adjusted my pillow and tried to relax. The operative word here is `tried'; I kept replaying Michelle saying the code number for the sperm donor, and me, basically yelling "Bingo!" I figured that as soon as I could leave school, I would bring the boys home, and then, go meet Michelle. We would talk about our ideas, agree to one or the other, or maybe come up with a new plan, but I knew it had to be handled tomorrow afternoon. As I lay there, it hit me that Ryan would want to go visit Myles when I went to the hospital. I tried to figure out a way to delay that, but Ryan can be persistent when he wants to be. I knew that I couldn't promise him a visit later tomorrow afternoon because I needed to talk to he and Phil tomorrow night. I began to feel that the walls were closing in on me. I got up, walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower, stripped and got in the shower. I turned it on as hot as I could stand it, and then, steadily moved the water temperature cooler. I turned the massager head on and let it concentrate at the base of my neck and across my shoulders. After standing there for a about ten minutes, I felt that the shower had helped me relax. I stepped out of the shower, dried off, walked back to the bed, dropped the towel by my side of the bed, and crawled in bed. Phil was asleep and did not wake up when I returned. I lay there and listened to his rhythmic breathing and eventually, that lulled me off to sleep. I woke up Wednesday morning dreading to start classes, but looking forward to my visit with Myles. Phil had a busy morning, so he showered, dressed, and left without breakfast at the house. I took my morning shower, dressed for the first day of school (my new bamboo boxer briefs, dress slacks, button-down short sleeved shirt), put on my best cologne, moussed my hair, and wore my leather loafers. I walked out to the kitchen, and Ryan was already there having a bowl of cereal. I opted to by-pass breakfast. In a few minutes, Rob and Jay arrived. Ryan finished his cereal and placed the bowl in the sink. We walked out to the garage, got in and I drove us to school. We arrived, and I parked in my assigned parking place. I had to go by the office and pick up my stuff. In order to not add to the confusion in the office, I had the boys wait for me outside the office and then, I walked them to their first period classrooms. I had looked over their schedules, and they did not have any classes together, but they did have many of the same teachers and courses. I then, walked them to their waiting area, left them and hurried to my classroom. I opened my classroom door, dropped my stuff on the desk, checked to see if the posters and charts were still up on the wall (our school system buys the cheapest tape, and it doesn't hold), laid my handouts out in the order that I would use them, and walked to the door. As I approached the doorway the bell sounded, and the students began to enter the classroom. I knew many of the seniors as they had been in my classes in the past, but I did not know many of the juniors. We did the customary introductions, and I tried to put names to faces, but it really threw me when I discovered that I had a set of triplets in one class, and they were identical in build, but not in dress. I began to discuss the expectations of the class, passed out the handouts, shared a few slides of some previous classroom experiences and answered student questions. I did this in each of my classes. At lunch, I walked to the lunchroom, bought a salad, returned to my classroom, ate it, and called Michelle. She told me that the Dr. Chesterfield had visited, checked on Myles and decided that he needed to spend one more night in the hospital. I told her that I would see her as soon as I could drop the boys off and drive to the hospital. The school day finally ended, and I met the boys in the parking lot. Jay wanted to know where my classroom was because, he didn't like waiting for me in the hot parking lot. I told them that I would walk them there tomorrow morning, and explained that they could come there in the afternoon with the understanding that if I was working with students, then they would have to come in, sit down and begin their homework without interrupting me. Jay said he would do anything, rather than stand in that hot parking lot. I looked over at him and said "Anything?" He said "Pops, don't go getting any wild ideas, but then again, you are too old to get wild ideas." I smacked him with my open hand up against the back of his head. The others laughed, but he made out like I had really injured him. I told them that I had probably knocked a few of the rocks around, and maybe even set off an avalanche up there. Jay was not amused. I drove the boys to the house, and they got out. Rob and Jay were going to go to their homes, and then come back to begin working on their homework. Ryan wanted to know why I was not getting out and going inside. I told him that I was going to the hospital. He told me that he was going with me. I said "Ryan, I am going by myself, and you are going to start your homework so that we can have some family time tonight." He really put up an argument to go and it was pretty convincing, but I held my position. He got out, and I drove away. I parked at the hospital and walked to the elevators. I rode the elevator to the eighth floor, walked down the hallway and entered Myles' room. He broke into a huge smile when he saw me, and it took every ounce of restraint that I had to keep from blurting out our news. Michelle looked at me and saw the issue on my face. She said "Myles, Doug and I need to go to the cafeteria and talk about your school work because you will be enrolled in HomeBound, and we are hoping that he will be your Homebound teacher." He looked at me and said "I think you two could talk about that here in the room with me." I thought "Yes, we could, and the boy thinks fast." Michelle said "Myles, we do better when we are eating and talking." He said "Oh, ok. Well, bring me back something sweet." We promised that we would. We made our way to the cafeteria, walked through the serving line and decided on two slices of coconut cream pie with drinks. We walked to one of the tables in the far corner and sat down. Michelle looked at me and said "Doug, I have tried to develop a plan, but I can't because it comes to just telling him. I saw that you almost did that when you walked in the room. I know you must be dying to tell him." I said "You are so right, I have wanted to buy a billboard and announce it to the world, but I realize that this has to be handled correctly. I too, have given this a lot of thought, and I think I have a plan." I shared my thoughts with her, and she said it was better than anything that she had. We bought Myles a brownie and headed back to the room. We walked in just as the nurse was leaving from taking his vitals and making a few adjustments to his fluid intake. I followed her and asked if there was a way to insure some privacy in his room. She pulled out a sign that had PRIVATE -- DO NOT DISTURB, handed it to me and said "I think this will do what you need." I walked back to the room door, posted it, and closed the door. Myles looked at me and asked "Why did you close the door Pops?" I said "Your mom and I need to talk with you, and we don't want to have to compete with the hallway noise." He seemed to understand, but looked at Michelle. She looked my way, summoned up her courage and began "Myles, we need to talk to you, and we have some really important information to share with you." I looked at him, and I could tell that he thought that we were going to give him some bad news about his illness. I jumped in, and said "For once, it doesn't have to deal with your illness." He looked my way, smiled and said "Now that is good news." Michelle began again "Myles, there are some things about my family that I have not shared with you in the past, because they were painful for me, and I did not want to hurt you, but your illness has made me see that I was wrong. I wanted a baby so much, I wanted you, and I just couldn't find the right guy, or one who I felt would provide us with the support that a family needs, so I chose another route." Myles sat up in the bed and looked at his mom with a questioning look. She said "I tried to talk to my parents, and they would not listen, nor would they sanction my plan. They said that if I followed my heart that I would no longer be a part of the family." I looked over at Myles, and he had a tear coming down his cheek. Michelle reached over and wiped it away. She said "Myles, there is no need for tears as you are the biggest blessing that a mother could ever have. You have been my everything, and I do not regret my decision." Myles looked between the two of us, and said "Sooo". Michelle said "I left home shortly after finishing my nursing degree, located a doctor that dealt with fertility issues, visited a special clinic, and made arrangements to be impregnated by an anonymous man's sperm." Myles was dumbfounded. Michelle reached for him, but he pulled back. He was not taking this news good at all. I said "Myles, there is more to the story." He said "Pops, I think I have heard too much, I can't unhear what I just heard. My mom got pregnant, and I am really a bastard. I don't have a real Dad, my Mom has lied to me about his existence, and who I am." The machines that he was hooked to began to beep faster, so Michelle got up and studied them. She said "Myles, you are going to have to calm down, your pulse is too high. He rolled his eyes and said "Why should I care?" I said "Myles, this has not been easy for your mom, and you know beyond any doubt that she loves you more than life itself. You are her reason for living. Sharing this information with you has not been an easy decision for her, but it had to be done because we have to have a plan in the event that we have to take another series of actions related to your illness." He said "Pops, this hurts deeply, I almost wish I could die, how will I face the others? I have no father, I know nothing about who this donor was, and I'm half of a somebody." I knew that I had to move this conversation along because it was headed down hill fast. I said "Myles, in the process of talking with the doctors and finding out this information from your Mother, we discovered that, I was the donor dad." Myles jerked his head toward me and the machines started beeping real fast again. He looked at me and shouted "You better not be shitting me!" No sooner had he said that than he somehow was hugging me around my neck and streaming tears onto my shirt. I looked over at Michelle, and she was crying, heck to be honest, so was I. The nurse burst into the room and said "What is going on in here? His heartbeat is through the roof." She looked over at Myles and asked "Why is he out of his bed?" He turned to her and said "I just got the best news ever. I am fine, I am the bestest that I could ever be." She said "Young man, you really need to get back in bed" but Michelle spoke up and said "He is fine, I will get him settled in a few minutes; let him enjoy his good news." The nurse was not happy, but recognized that Michelle was one who spoke with hospital authority. Myles pulled back from me, looked me in the face and said "Is it really true?" I said "Yes, we have verified it." He hugged me tightly again, and then, pulled away again. He looked me in the eye and asked "Can I call you Dad now?" The tears flowed from my eyes, and I said "Oh yeah, I want to hear that word coming from you." Michelle said "Myles, we have not told anybody else, so please don't say anything until we have had a chance to talk personally to Ryan and the others. He said "I've got a for real brother, and a for real Dad, this is awesome news. He reached over and hugged Michelle and apologized for being hurtful to her. She said "Myles, I totally understand your feelings, but baby, I love you with all of my heart." He said "I know Mom, but let's leave the word baby out from now on." I had to chuckle. I wanted to stay and celebrate with him, but I knew that I had to go home and have a similar conversation with Ryan. I began the process of leaving after hugging him one more time and kissing his forehead. He started the tears again, and he said "Dad and Mom, you guys have always said that all things happen for a reason, I guess my cancer was the thing that happened so that I could know what I now know." I felt the tears well up in my eyes, and I looked over at Michelle. She had the same thing happening. I said "I will call you later tonight and then, we will get you home tomorrow." I walked toward the door, and Michelle followed me. I opened it and stepped into the hallway. Michelle said "Doug, that was rougher than I ever expected, but that is one happy boy in that room. I am so glad that we were able to share that news with him and hopefully it will help him fight this disease." I agreed, hugged her, and headed to the parking lot. I drove home and found the three boys sitting at the dining room table doing their homework. I did not go in there, because I had to start supper. I walked over to the refrigerator, stood there for a while and then, began to bang my head against the door. I had not realized that the boys had finished and left, until Ryan said "Dad, what are you doing?" I turned around briefly, but realized that he was staring at my face. I turned around, opened the refrigerator and began to hunt something, anything that I could use to get myself out of this conversation. Finally, I found a stick of butter, closed the refrigerator door and placed it on the counter to the right of the refrigerator without turning around. Phil came in the door from the garage and Ryan said "Phil, you could not have come home at a better time, something is going on with Dad, and he won't talk to me." Phil stopped. Ryan said "It looks like he has been crying, but he won't turn around, so I know something is going on. Dad, has something happened to Myles?" That did it, the tears started streaming again. I wiped my eyes, turned around and told them to "Let's go to the family room." I had them sit so that I could watch them, as I talked. I said "I need to talk for a few minutes and then, we can talk and discuss jointly. Yes, this is about Myles, but it is not bad news, it is great news." Ryan asked "Then why the tears?" Phil said "Give him time Ryan, give him time." I started again, "A number of years ago, 1999 to be exact, I wanted to buy something very special, but I did not have the money. I drove home and asked Mom and Dad, but they would not loan me the money, nor would they allow me to take it out of my savings account. I was frustrated, I returned to my college apartment, and looked around my room to see if there was anything that I could do without, but I couldn't find anything to sell. I was intent on buying this thing, so I was still trying to find some way to make some money. One day shortly after my trip to see Mom and Dad, I was sitting in the Student Union Building trying to read several assigned chapters in World History, when I overheard two guys close to me discussing raising a little extra money. I guess I eavesdropped, but they were talking about selling sperm. I thought to myself, that would be easy, so I told them that I had overheard their conversation and asked if they would mind if I joined them. I moved over to where they were seated, and we began to talk. Well, they told me most everything that I needed to do and gave me the phone number of a clinic." Ryan said "Yeah, so you beat your cock and made some money, what does that have to do with Myles?" I looked at Ryan and said "I asked you to let me talk, and then, I will answer your questions. So I went to the clinic several times after going through a strenuous interview process involving my health and academic records, and let's say, made several deposits. Later on, I married Allison and shortly thereafter, we had you, Ryan. I forgot about the sperm donation. In the meantime, Michelle decided that she wanted a baby, but didn't want to get married so she visited a doctor who helped her get pregnant." Ryan stood up and said "I don't want to hear any more of this!" I said "Sit down now! Because you are going to hear this as I have to talk about it tonight." He sat down, but glared at me. I continued "My life with Allison was fantastic, until she left and eventually divorced me. I didn't date because I centered my life around you, Ryan, and you all know the story from there. So here is the latest, Michelle had a scheduled meeting with the doctors yesterday and Myles strongly suggested that I attend the meeting, too. The topic for this meeting had to do with finding a bone marrow donor or stem cell donor who would match Myles' DNA in the event that his blood count became dangerously low. A donor could possibly come from volunteers listed on the national registry that match his DNA but it is easier if there is a willing relative who is a match. Michelle was the only relative for Myles, but she was ruled out because she is his primary caregiver. After further discussion and a lot of thought, she revealed that Myles did not have a known dad because she used the services of a fertility doctor to get pregnant. I listened to what she was saying and started thinking that this was really going to be almost impossible to find a donor for Myles. As I was thinking and trying to problem solve, she said that the only thing she knew about the donor was his ID number. She said the number, and it sounded vaguely familiar. I returned to my thinking, but I replayed the number in my head again. Finally, I figured that the reason it sounded familiar was because it was mine. I am Myles' Father." Ryan and Phil sat there with their mouths hanging open. Phil was the first to speak and he said "I guess congratulations are in order, and I think you have officially gained a mighty fine son Doug." Ryan just sat there looking at me. I asked "Ryan, do you have something to say?" He said "So you have another son, do you think there are others?" I hadn't given that any thought, but I said "I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I am happy to know that Myles is truly a part of this family. I realize that you are shocked, but you have to see that his being with us, loving us, us loving him, and everything else just makes it that much more special. Ryan, you truly have a brother, and not just a pretend brother. I never had one, and I think you are so lucky." He said "I need time to think on this, I am happy for Myles, but I don't really know how I feel right now." Phil looked over at Ryan and said "Ryan, since I have been a part of this family, you and Myles have acted and treated each other like brothers. This just makes it official." "I know, I know, but I don't know how it will change things," he said. I said "Things are not going to change drastically. Michelle and I along with Myles have to talk and make some decision, and yes, before you say anything, you will be heard, as well." "So I've got a brother, you say, well, damn!" I started to say something, but Phil shook his head. "When can I see him, and when do we make the announcement? He asked. I said "You can call him later tonight, and I might mention that he is happy and excited, but as far as making an announcement, we have to talk about it, before we do it. We do not want Myles, or you, hurt in this great reveal." Ryan said "I understand, but my question now, is what is for supper?" Phil said "I was thinking the same thing." I looked at the two of them, and said "All you two think about is your stomachs. Well, the two of you can go to Popeye's and get us some fried chicken while I cook some corn on the cob and some Mac and Cheese." Ryan said "Now that sounds good to me, let's go Phil." They left, and I put two pots of water on the stove and allowed them to come to a boil. I poured some elbow macaroni in one and placed three ears of frozen corn in the other. I let them cook. After the macaroni had reached the tenderness that I wanted, I drained it, added some butter, a small amount of milk and several slices of cheese. I blended that and it was ready. I set the boiled corn to the side and allowed it to stay warm. Ryan and Phil returned shortly with the chicken. Ryan grabbed the plates, and I placed the Mac & Cheese along with the boiled corn on the counter. We began to eat, and Ryan said "I bet Myles went ballistic when you told him." I said "He was laying down when I was telling him, and when I finished, he somehow flew to me and started hugging me and crying." Ryan said "Yeah, that sounds like my wimpy brother." Phil started laughing and commented "Has officially had a brother for about an hour and is already bad mouthing him, yep, they are definitely brothers." Ryan looked over at me and said "So when are you going to tell Grandmother and Grandfather?" I said "I think, I may drive up there this weekend and do it in person because over the phone is not good with Mom." He said "Can I stay here with Phil?" I looked at Phil and he said "I am good with that, if you are." It was decided that I would drive to Mom and Dad's Friday night and come home Saturday afternoon, while Ryan stayed home with Phil. I said "After we finish eating, I think we should do a conference call with Myles." We finished our supper, and got the kitchen cleaned up, and then, walked down to my office. I dialed the hospital's phone number and entered the room number. Myles answered and I said "Myles..." He excitedly said "Pa-Dad, I mean. It's gonna take me a while, but I am so happy." Ryan said "Are you happy to have me as your big brother?" Myles said "Well to be truthful, no." Ryan looked at me, and I thought he was going to say something negative, but then Myles said "I have always thought of you as my brother, and this only makes it official and let's get something straight you are my older brother, not my big brother, and you know what I mean. Phil and I had to laugh. Ryan was not amused. Myles continued "Ryan, I am so excited to know that we are for real family." Phil said "Myles, I am happy for all of you too, because I have always thought y'all acted like a family. You love and fuss with one another just like family. I just hope that we don't find out that Jay is an official legitimate family member." We all laughed at that one, but Myles topped it with "Phil, it would be your luck to find out that he was your son." Phil started shaking his head no and said "No, No, No, I couldn't take that." Myles said "My mom wants to talk" so he handed the phone to her. She said "Ryan, Phil and Doug, I have had one very happy boy here tonight. This has probably been the best medicine for him. The doctors came by a few minutes ago and told me that he would be released tomorrow morning, so we will see you at our house tomorrow evening." I said "Good to know that, I am leaving Friday afternoon to go tell my Mom and Dad face to face, I will be home Saturday night. You have my number and can call me any time. If you need something, Ryan and/or Phil can help." She said "Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I met Matt this afternoon, he came to see Myles while I was down at the nurse's station. He seems to really a great guy and is so attentive to Myles." I smiled and thought, if only you knew. We hung up, and headed to our rooms, I was ready for sleep, so I stripped and hit the bed. Phil joined me, but he wanted some action. I just wanted to go to sleep, he didn't, so he started touching me, and finally, I was significantly aroused. I rolled over him, pushed his legs up over my shoulders and bent his thighs back to his chest. He was wide open and my hard cock poked around until it found a warm hole to visit. I did not realize how much I needed this, until I felt my cock sink into his warm hole. As I began to glide in, he leaned up and kissed my neck. I began to glide in and out, and it felt so good especially when he would tighten and squeeze me. He brought his hand up between us and started jacking off. I let him, as I enjoyed listening to him get with it, and I loved to watch him cum. I tried to time my movements to coincide with his, but he was too fast. I told him to slow down and time it to coincide with my movements. He did, and I think it really brought about a stronger climax. I shot a good load in him while he covered our chests and his stomach area with his cum. I looked at his cock, and it was coated in cum. He took one of his fingers which was coated in cum and brought it to my face. I licked it clean and then, I dropped his legs and moved down so that my face was over his cock. I cleaned his cock of all of his cum and even cleaned his balls. After I had finished, he lay there for a while, then he got up, pulled me up, and we took a refreshing shower. We made it back to bed, and I have to report that I slept like a baby. Thursday morning found me once again dreading work, but like the good educator that I am, I forced myself to get up and get ready. I was soon met by the boys who were equally reluctant to return to school. We made the trip, and I walked them down to my classroom so they would know where to meet me every afternoon. Afterwards, they walked down to their waiting area until the bell sounded. My students entered the classroom, and I began hitting the content because you know, we have to make every minute count because of those statewide tests and their impact on both the students' and teacher's lives. The school day ran smoothly, and finally, it ended. I had just walked back into my classroom from hall duty when the boys arrived. I grabbed my work for the evening, and we headed home. Ryan called to check on Myles and reported that he was home and could have visitors if they did not have a cough, or cold. Everybody decided that they would go visit, as soon as they could change clothes. I made my visit short, because I had a lot to do tonight. I returned home and started cooking as I had to pack tonight to go to Mom and Dad's tomorrow afternoon. I called Dad and told him that I was coming, and that, we would go out to eat when I arrived. I tasked him with not letting Mom cook or have other plans. After I finished the phone call, I walked back to the kitchen and began to prepare a spaghetti sauce. I mixed it together and let it simmer while I made a quick garden salad. I placed the salad in the refrigerator, then, I buttered some Italian bread slices and had them ready to go in the oven. I placed the spaghetti noodles in a pot of boiling water when Phil arrived. I called Ryan and told him to come eat. Phil took a quick shower and dressed in a pair of basketball shorts and t-shirt. I popped the bread in the oven and placed everything on the counter when the bread was finished. We gathered around the counter and ate our supper. Phil cleaned the kitchen while I went to my office and worked on next week's lesson plans. I finally finished my lesson plans around eleven o'clock. I walked back through the house, and was shocked to find that I was the only one awake, so I went to bed too. I woke up Friday morning realizing that I had a full day ahead, plus the drive to Mom and Dad's, so I finished my morning rituals, double checked my packing and placed my small suitcase by the utility room door. I mixed the batter for pancakes, and had several pancakes ready when Phil and Ryan came to the kitchen. They were delighted to have pancakes, as I had not fixed them in a long time. I finished cleaning the kitchen, as I waited for Rob and Jay. They arrived, and we were off to school. My Friday was a great day; I used a streaming program to enhance the delivery of the content that we were studying in several of my classes. The students really seemed to understand the material after they had seen it on the screen. I had lunch in the teachers' dining room with members of my department. We shared some of the stories related to our first week of school. I shared that Myles had made it home, but did not share anything else. I returned to my classroom and finished teaching my last class of the day. I looked at the clock and wondered why the boys had not arrived. I walked into the hallway and saw that Mr. Yostraski had them cornered. I walked down to where they were, just in time to hear him tell them that they were not to be in the hallway after school. I spoke up and told him that they were mine, and they definitely had permission to come to my classroom. He started to say something, but the look I gave him shut him up. He is one of our old and rigid math teachers who takes everything to the nth degree. I motioned for the boys to follow me, and we walked to my classroom. I picked up the stuff that I had planned to take with me, and we headed to the parking lot. I drove the boys home, and when we arrived, Rob and Jay headed home while Ryan and I went into the house. I gave Ryan the `my expectations' talk, and then, I loaded my suitcase and headed to Mom and Dad's. I took the shortest route that I knew. I normally do not like to drive this road, because it is hilly, has many curves, and is just two lanes. I prefer to drive the four lane highway even though it takes me longer; I feel that it is safer. I arrived at Mom and Dad's, walked up on the porch and rang the doorbell. Mom opened the door and just stood there. I said "Do I get to come in, or should I turn around and go home?" She opened the door wider, stepped out and hugged me. She peered around me, and said "Where is Ryan?" I said "He stayed home, because this is a quick trip for me." Dad came to the door and said "Good to see you son, but your Mom hasn't cooked a thing tonight." She said "Now you just hold on there a minute, I haven't cooked, because you haven't told me what you wanted." I said "Well, I can see that we need to go out to eat so get your stuff, and let's go." Mom looked at me, and said "This feels like it was planned." I smiled, and she was off to change her blouse and grab her purse. Dad was ready to go, so he joined me in the porch swing while we waited for Mom. Mom returned, and we headed out to eat. Of course, we went to The Oaks. Where else would I go when I go home? We walked in, and Mr. Eddie approached us and wanted to know where was the boy? I explained that this was a fast trip, and he stayed home to be with his friends. We were seated, and the waitress tried to give us menus, but I told her that we already knew what we wanted and didn't need a menu. She took our drink orders and returned to take our dinner orders. Mom ordered beef tips with rice, while Dad and I ordered New York Strip Steaks with baked sweet potato with brown sugar butter, and a trip to the salad bar. We walked over to the salad bar, made our salads, returned to our table, and began eating while we waited for our meat to be cooked. As we were eating, Mom stopped, put her fork down and said "Doug, why did you come home?" I said "Mom, I have some business that I need to take care of tomorrow morning, and then, I will be on my way home." She seemed to be satisfied for a few minutes, and then, she asked "What kind of business?" I replied "Personal." That seemed to shut her down, but you never know with my mom. We finished eating, and this time, I beat Dad to the cashier. I paid for our food, and we returned to Mom and Dad's. I excused myself as I was tired and wanted to go to bed. As I was walking out of the kitchen, I heard Mom tell Dad "There is something fishy going on here; he may think he has me fooled, but I'm not as dense, as he thinks. He is up to something." It sure is good to be home. I walked into my room, stripped down to my boxer briefs and got in bed. I think that my head had no sooner hit the pillow, than I was out. I woke up the next morning to the smell of breakfast being cooked. I got up, pulled on a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt and headed to the kitchen. Mom was just about finished with breakfast, and said "I wondered how long it would take you to get here." I said "Not long, after I smelled the cinnamon rolls." We ate breakfast, and I offered to clean up the kitchen, but mom would not allow it. She told me to go shower and dress for the day. I really did want a shower, so I followed her orders without an argument. I returned to the kitchen after I had showered, dressed, and packed. Mom and Dad were sitting at the breakfast table talking, but they stopped when I entered. I pulled out a chair and sat down. Mom said "I thought you had business to take care of this morning. Shouldn't you be on your way?" I smiled and said "Why should I go somewhere else when I am already where I need to be?" She looked at me, and then, said to my Dad "Do you know what he is talking about?" Dad said "I have no idea." I said "I am going to talk now, and you two are going to listen, until I am finished." So I began to tell the story, and I didn't leave anything out except the name of my new son. They remained quiet, until I had finished my story, and then, Mom said "So I guess you are going to try to blame us for your mistake?" I said "No, as there was not a mistake, I have always wanted more children, but that didn't happen with Allison. I prayed and prayed that we would have more children, but it didn't happen, so when this was confirmed, I took it as my prayers had been answered, so to me, the Lord answered my prayer, but he did so in his own time and it is good. She said "Douglas, you made this issue, and you can see it however you want to see it, but what you did was a sin. Now, your Dad and I have to deal with the fallout. How are we supposed to explain this new grandson? What will our neighbors around here think? What will the church members think? I paused, looked my Mom in the eye and said "You owe nobody -- get that nobody, an explanation. He is my son, and if somebody has something to say, they can say it to me, and I hope to God that you tell them what I just said, word for word. You have nothing to clean up, I am proud of my son." She looked at me and said "So what is this child's name?" I looked over at Dad and said "His name is Myles, and yes, he is the one that has visited in your home and has been diagnosed with cancer." Mom said "Have you thought that he is being punished for your sins?" Well, the gauntlet had been thrown down, and we had words. I can't even write what was said, but let's just say that it was heated and direct. Dad sat and watched the back and forth between me and Mom. I did not hold back my thoughts or words; and neither did she. Mom started to say something else, but I slammed my hand down on the table, I believe that I actually scared her, and she stopped trying to out-talk me. I said "Myles and Ryan have a fantastic relationship, and Myles loves being a part of our family. Ryan and I love him, and I just hope that you can find it in your heart to love him too. Dad said "Doug, do not worry, I love Myles, and I loved him before, so I can only love him more." Mom looked over at Dad and said "We can't hold the child accountable for the sins of the father." I felt like I had been slapped, so I stood up and said "Well, I came here to deliver what I felt was good news, but as always my Mom can take good news and make it to be some great sin. Dad, I appreciate you, loving Myles and I look forward to you being a part of our lives." Mom said "Frankly, Douglas, I never know what you are going to tell me when you visit, or we talk on the phone. I have learned that you are capable of many things, and I am just bracing myself for some more shocking news." I just glared at her and said "Well, be careful what you ask for!" End of Chapter I -- My Sons and Their Friends -- The Freshman Year - Chapter 1 Well there is Chapter 1 and I hope it has answered some of your questions, but there are probably one or two that remain unanswered. I am thinking about Chapter 2, but have not started it, so it may take a little longer for it to be written, BUT I will try to move it along as fast as I can. I really appreciate all of the emails that I received regarding Chapter 55. I know that many of you commented on the fact that Chapters 54 and 55 were highly emotional, but that goes to prove that you as a reader have a heart and are compassionate. There are a number of possible story lines for the future chapters and we will just have to see how things play out. I continue to enjoy hearing your thoughts and comments, so write me and I promise, "If you write me, I will write you" which is a take-off on "If you show me yours.....I'll show you mine." LOL Jay
