Putting down his magazine, Matty looks towards the hallway entrance to the den. "Guess who that was on the phone?" "The trick you ordered for me?" "No this trick," Chad said. Plowing right through the two legs, feet extended over the square coffee table, Chad parked himself on the sofa. "Heeeey! You coulda broke my leg." "Then the trick would have no use for you!" "I get the message. So who really was on the phone?" "Bruce Ryder." "Homeland Security?" "Ex." "Oh that's right. He took up with Javier Yacouba. How's he been?" "Good, but he didn't call to chat about his lovelife." "Oh?" "Remember all that paperwork we went through with Bruce?" "For the adoption?" "Yup. Looks like it's going to become a reality for us." "Cool! Me a daddy! When?" "This weekend. Bruce felt so bad when the Miller adoptions fell through, but he said he's found a nice eleven year old for us." "Cool! What's his name." "This is the cool part. His name is Jeremy Eames, but Bruce says we can have his name changed legally." "Why? He doesn't like the name Jeremy?" "No, stoopid, not his first name. I meant the `Eames'." "Oh. I knew that." "Yeah right. Anyway, Bruce is giving us a trial weekend with him." "Only a weekend?" "Yup. He says it's important one or both of us spend as much time with him as we can." "And if we don't like him, we can get a refund?" "Yeah, right Matty." "I'm joking." "I know. I have to be at the store on Saturday." "So I get to play daddy all by myself?" "Scare ya?" "Not as much as if you were here with me." "Let me give Zach a call. See what his plans are." % Back at the backyard of the Clark-Barr home, Mark and Denis were allowed to strip themselves of their I-pod's, before having to walk the plank. "I swear! We were only joking guys." So were Aidan, Philip, Diego and Seth, but it was fun to make the two teens walk the length of the diving board, forcing them off the edge, into the deep. "Did you see their cocks?" "I think they were doing something sexy." "Some of that CPR kissing stuff!" "You mean kissing makes a guy's cock big?" Each of the boys had their own assumptions of why the pool water didn't make Mark's and Denis' teenhood shrink down to bodily perspective. Then seth came up with a brilliant idea, saying, "Hey! Let's go swimming!" For the minute, his attention didn't focus on the same subject as the other three. "Hi guys." All six pool swimmers wondered the identity of the boy, standing between Chad and Matty. "I haven't seen him around school," Aidan observes. "Not in my class," Philip adds. Turning to Diego and Seth, "You?" "Nope," each, in succession say. Swimming to the edge, the four squirts eye up the new boy, each hoping he's their age, or there abouts. From down in the pool, it's tough to vision how tall he stands, due to the angle. "Who's this Chad?" Philip speaks to his brother, for the group. "Fellas," Chad replies, "meet Jeremy Eames." The four hike out of the pool, along with Mark and Denis, already out and circling the perimeter of the pool's edge, to come take a look. The first question, from Diego is, "How old are you?" "Eleven," answers Jeremy. "Cool!" several boys answer. "Did you bring his swimsuit, Matty?" Aidan asks. "Not this time. We actually didn't even know we would be getting... having Jeremy come to us." "What do you mean?" It was obvious the boys weren't getting the message. Not until Jeremy spoke up, saying, "I'm getting adopted!" "Where's your mom and dad?" Seth asks. Chad and Matty figured it fine to leave Jeremy with the four squirts, hoping they would add him right away, into their little society. "So, what's the story with the kid?" Denis asks. As Chad answers, telling them Bruce Ryder really wanted to bring him by on Saturday, but got caught up in other matters, Matty is eyeing up the two teens. In his own opinion, the two have really aged into that manly status, exchanging their teen image in for pre-college men. He smiles, when seeing both with the little wisps of hair below their navels. Reminiscing, Matty remembers being their age and thinking about how hairy he would become. "Right, Matty?" "Huh? Oh yeah. Sure." Chad smirked at Matty, but didn't make it too on target of whom he was checking out. "So you're going to adopt Jeremy then?" "After a week or so. We have to `wait for the paperwork to catch up', as Bruce puts it." "Kind of nice you didn't have to wait for the weekend," Mark says. "We thought of that this morning, but unfortunately we hadn't planned our work day." "You can leave him here." Looking back over to the five, it looks as if Jeremy has fit in already. This morning, when Bruce Ryder brought him by, he could see the youth having no problem fitting in. Now he was clinging to the group's conversation, clearly being accepted. After mulling it over between them, Matty says, "I think it would be okay." "Make sure he gets fed good." After agreeing to leave Jeremy, the couple begin to get second thoughts. Chad needs to be at the story, but Matty says he can leave his mom in limbo, at the real estate office. So, it's Matty staying, Chad leaving. "What's up. I thought you had to work?" Mark asks. "We took a vote! So, you have an extra suit." "Our dad's maybe," Mark says. Denis says, his dad, dad-Steve, "My dad's swimsuit would fit you better than dad-Barry's." "My dad is more the `bear type'." "Bear type?" Matty questions. "It's what we heard dad-Steve," Mark confesses, "heard call my dad." "Does he really resemble a bear, Matty?" "I'd say so. So, where's this swimsuit?" They directed Matty to the house, saying Max is home and will be happy to locate a swim suit. As Matty heads of of the indoor swimming conclave, Mark and Denis enter the conversation with the now `5 squirts'. No questions are needed, as all the answers in their mind are blurted out. "Jeremy's the same age as us!" Diego had answered for Seth and himself. "My brother and Matty are going to adopt him," Philip says. Aidan adds, something they already know, "Jeremy can swim with us, today." As they are gathering information, the barn door slides open. "Who's that?" "It's Caleb and James!" "Look who I found outside, prowling around," Matty says. A swimming in his hand, Matty points out that Caleb's dads have an important errand to run. They are all familiar with their two classmates, Caleb Kendall-Johnson and James Kitchner. Since the accident on Bridges Lane, James has become a good friend to Philip and Aidan. James' mom is the one whom temporarily bandaged up Philip's hand. "James! Caleb! Cool!" On the side, Denis mentions to Matty, "Good thing you decided to stay and not go." "Can't handle the four-five-six-seven squirts, eh?" "Oh we can handle them. No problem, Matty, but who's going to pay for all the pizza!" % As happens in a small town, the car accident with Barry, Philip and Aidan, the remnants of the second great flood, in heroes and harpships, as Chad steps into Barr's & Bridges, the news of Jeremy's adoption start flinging his way. "Oooooh," from the head cashier, "My staff and I offer you the best!" Already it was happening. A square box, wrapped in pink and blue, a blue bow, was shoved into Chad's gut! Then, like wildfire, the local townspeople, all he's grown to know over his past two years' residence, added their own congratulations. When he got back to his office, in stepped Andy, followed by Marco. "Heeeey! I didn't know we were becoming parents today!" For the last coupla months, Marco has been wearing the hats of cook, housecleaner and anything else he could lend assistance to, in exchange for room and board at the Barr-Bridges' household. He was even handy with a set of sparkplugs, when Matty's car didn't turn over one morning! "Same here," Chad follows with. "Bruce Ryder said the weekend, but here it is Wednesday, of all days, Valentines Day and Jeremy is bestowed upon us!" "Things are sure going to be different around the house." "I'll say." "No more of you and Matty running around in your briefs." "Um, you should talk, with what you wear underneath that apron of yours or for lack of, I should say?" "Okay. So we all have to be more careful." "Thanks for sharing in our welcoming and by the way, how is Antonio working out?" "He's doing okay. He only got one order screwed up so far. Mrs. Hansen went home with Mrs. Chen's birthday cake and Mrs. Chen got the royal assortment of pastries." "Antonio better be careful." "It wasn't much his fault. The two were gabbing with him. He got distracted." "One of the pitfalls of good business. Customers getting over-anxious." "No problem. Mrs. Hansen called and she's delivering the cake, making the switch, plus got invited to Mr. Chen's birthday party," Marco informs him. "I hope you made it sound like it was arranged by Antonio." "You got it, Chad! It's real busy out there." "Fault of the storm a month ago. The high school and elementary schools are still closed, so guess where all those kids are?" "Where?" "At home eating up all the chips and soda!" Chad jokes. "Hey Chad, contragulations on the baby!" Marco excused himself as Kevin Spangler, fruit and veggie man entered. "Thanks." "I brough you a box of apples." "How sweet of you." "Tell you the truth, I didn't know what else you needed. Michael sends his love and says we'll fine-tune our gift-giving once you get settled." "It's the thought that counts," Chad accepts the box of apples, with a blue bow atop. "So, you and Michael are hitting it off, huh?" "Yeah, thanks to you." "Me?" "You and Zach, actually. If it wasn't for Zach funding my fruit and vegetables distributing, I wouldn't know what I would have done." "Um, worked for Birdy?" "That still could be a possibility in the evenings." "Oh?" Chad questions Kevin, "How's that go?" "Act surprised when Michael mentions it to you, but he's buying out the furniture store next to him." "Wyman's, folding?" "Not really. They suffered some damage, but are moving down the street. Michael will be expanding Birdy's cafe, adding the restaurant." "Nice. I'll have to congratulate him." "Don't you say a word!" "Oh, that's right. It'll be a secret til he mentions it!" However, later on, when Chad crossed the street for a cup of coffee, his mind was on `bakery, deli, Mike-the-dairyman, cash register problems and some flooring coming up. The first thing out of his mouth, when Michael asked him what he'll have for lunch, Chad says, "Congratulations on the expansion!" "Thanks." A pause ensued, making Chad recall certain facts about Kevin Spangler. "I guess you're surprised I know, eh Michael?" "Oh no. I know Kevin has a big trap!" Seeing Michael laugh along with him, Chad could tell he wasn't angered, taking it in stride. "By the way, congratulations on your new addition." "I can't imagination where you got your information?" Chad interrogates him. "Now let me see," Michael leans on the counter, racking his brains, "Christian heard it from Justin, who heard it from Max, who was shopping and heard it from Marco." "I knew telling Marco, it was a mistake. Now the whole world knows!" "Oh what's the big deal. Important things is people are happy for you. Now, weren't you hoping to adopt a boy or girl of your own?" Originally it was the Miller boys, sons of the Senator. After his death, long lost relatives of the deceased mother had been found. Chad answers, "We were very disappointed when the Miller deal fell through." "And down the road I'm sure there will be other kids, wanting to have good parents like you and Matty." "It scares me a little, Michael." "Parenthood, while you are in your early twenties can be. But, like any kid all you need to remember is to surround them with your love." "Jeremy is a really nice kid, from what we know so far. Matty is spending the day with him." "That's nice. He should pay a visit to your siblings' house. Use the pool." "Exactly where I left him." "So, what's your worries?" "I don't have any currently. All the kids were glad to have a new pal." "If Kevin sticks around, maybe we'll get one of our own!" "Good. You forgive him already." "Oh that. Hey, my good news is his too." "Getting attached are we, Michael?" Looking around, Michael wanted to make sure nobody was in earshot of his dirty remark. He came out with, "Last coupla nights we've been rightly attached, if ya know what I mean!" Chad giggled. He wanted to say something, but two women came in and sat next to him. As Michael Byrd waited on them, Chad began to daydream. He wondered what it was like to be a spectator in Michael's and Kevin's bed. Watching the two stripped down, entwining their bodies, getting `rightly attached'. "So, what'll you have?" Same time as ordering his grilled cheese sandwich and coke, Chad had to make a concealed check of his briefs. The pangs of an erection were their, tingling, but it hadn't taken any form, remaining in a deflated stage of development. He breathed out, in relief. "Whew!" % Copyright 2007 T.
