Mark looked to Denis, as if to ask `Do we?' It shouldn't have been to anyones surprise, being one of the dads looked in each morning to `shake it up'. "Or maybe we should talk about this tonight?" "Yeah. Can we wait til later, dad?" Meanwhile, Philip appeared at the squeaky screen door. "Daaaads c'mon. We need you to drive us to college!" "Later," Barry said to Denis. Mark and Denis took their leave, through the back door. "Why so lenient?" Steve asked his partner. "Give them a chance to think about it. In reality they haven't done anything too terribly wrong." "Or wrong at all?" "You've got a point there, Steve. Step-brothers is way different than your own flesh and blood." "Still, I think we should make sure the protection is there." "If they did fuck around." "Possibility." Steve wanted to go further, make it a verbal wager as to who was man-on-top, but again they got hassled by the squirts; this time Aidan. "Daaads! Diego and Seth are here." "Where do they get the energy?" Steve asks. "Coming, coming, coming. Where's my keys," Barry asked himself. Steve held up the little circle, asking, "Looking for something?" Grabbing the keys, the dads fared no better at keeping the back screen door from squeaking and banging shut. Barry whispered, under his breath, "I wonder who was man-on-top?" Steve smiled! % "I thought you might be brain dead?" Being the first to wake up, Christian lay there, his right elbow stuffed in his pillow, lying on his side, his index finger skating up and down the dark, defined trail running the length of Justin's stomach. "What makes you say that?" Christian's eyes, watching his own finger, tells it. "Not a move. Not a single move for the last ten minutes or so." Smiling, Justin says, "Feels good though." "I know what would feel better!" Being a wiseguy, Christian settled for Justin rolling over on his side, their chests meeting, both closing in for a sweet `good morning' kiss. "What time is it?" Christian blurts out. "Five." "I've gotta get crackin' or else." "Else, Christian?" "You know. I was late once for Michael. Never again." "What did he do? Dock your pay?" "Worse. Just hope you never have to go through one of his lectures. Worse than my old man!" Hopping out of bed, Christian heads for the shower. Fortunately, Justin doesn't have to rush off to anything. Class isn't for another couple of hours. Then, upon hearing the shower running, he gets an idea of where he wants to be. Sliding out of bed, he heads for the jon. Feeling the steamy atmosphere, he feels he's already in the shower. After whizzing, he slides open the shower stall. "What's this?" "I feel dirty!" Justin says. % "So, what shall we do today?" "Can you take me over to the college?" "College, Jeremy?" "Yeah. Diego, Seth, Aidan and Philip are going to college. Can I go too?" "I remember your dad saying something like that. Starting next week some high school courses are being held at WRCC and they had to check it out," Matty offers the explanation to Chad. "Jeremy," Chad starts in, "there will be plenty of times to play with the boys." "But, they're going swimming in the big pool at the gym." Chad and Matty exchange glances. Not wanting to see Jeremy disappointed, they give in. "Alright. Just this once," Chad states. "By the way, where did you get the swimming trunks?" "I'm the same size as Philip." "Good thing. Run and get your things." Packing one bag, Chad stuffs his and Matty's swimsuit in it. "I've always wanted a reason to stare at the swim team!" "As long as you watch and don't touch, Preppy!" % Unfortunately, Alonzo had to report to the school, to leave en masse with the rest of the teachers, by bus, to WRCC. Barry and Steve carted the boys, in their own van. However, both vehicles met up almost the same time, flagged through the security checkpoint at WRCC. Two minutes later, Chad's SUV pulled up behind Barry and Steve. "What's up?" "How are you enjoying fatherhood?" "Nothing much to it, yet." The four dads watch as Jeremy approaches the squirts, getting high 5's. "Give it time." Steve asks, "So, who's minding the store?" "Zach." "I thought he was opting out... going back to school?" "He is, but this time we desperately needed him to pitch in. Besides, with the Letterli Brothers buying into the business, we all will benefit by shorter hours." "More time to spend with junior," Steve says. "Yeah," Matty justifies. "He's a cool kid." Chad asks, "So, what's all happening here today?" "Right now your father and the teachers are looking at temporary teaching facilities," Steve clues them in. "Looks like Terrence is leading the boys to the gym, so we'll head over there with him." Steve's no dumb-cluck. He knows their wandering off towards the gym is for more intent reasons. Passing through the glass doors of the gymnasium, they head for the swimming pool. "Terrence always did look beefy in a swimsuit." "Um, who said for me to watch whom I'm staring at?" Chad chides Matty. "I was talking about the swim team." "They're not here." "Yet." "Hey dads! Watch what Aidan taught me yesterday!" "Geesh! Anybody check to see if Jeremy can swim?" Matty asks Chad. "Too late now." However, Chad and Matty wind up applauding Jeremy's efforts, making the perfect dive, good for an eleven year old. "Nicely done, son." Chad then questions himself, to Matty, "Did I call him son?" "Yeah. Sounded nice the way you said it." Terrence Beethoven wished he could have stayed around and talked, but he had to check out the facilities for his classes. Chad and Matty were thrilled to get to stay behind and chaperone the boys, even though the two eighteen year olds, Denis and Mark were there to help out. Not only were the dads impressed when the swim team showed up. "Hell, will you look at the guy in the red speedo?" Denis mentions to Mark. "Makes you wish he's gay!" Mark says. "How do we know he isn't, just `cause he acts straight!" After ten minutes of admiring the ten team members, the two teens had it set in their minds which ones they wouldn't mind having bent over for their pleasure! "Hey, Ross Michaels," came the voice from behind. Startled, turning around, the two addressed more than one guy. "We didn't scare ya, did we?" "No," Denis replied. Mark took the liberty of introducing themselves, "Hi. I'm Mark and this is my brother, Denis." Denis wondered if they thought they were the same ages, so volunteered, "We're twins." "Really? You don't look alike," Ross states. "He's kidding you. We're really step-brothers," Mark filled the guys in. Then a real conversation commenced, as Ross took them over to introduce them to the team. "Good thing we're here," Matty nodded in the team's direction. "Yeah, they are cute, aren't they?" "No, doofus," Matty scolded Chad, "I meant Mark and Denis. Some chaperones they would have made." Then, like surprising Denis and Mark, the coach appears behind them. "Hiya." "Hey, Chad Barr here and this is Matty Bridges." "Oh yeah. Bernice's kid." "You know my mom?" "For years. I was at her and Alberto's wedding." "Right," Matty then said, recognizing him. "Sam." "He's got a better memory than me," Chad said, embarrassed, showing it. "Sam McMillan," he took Chad's hand, then Matty's hand, shaking it. "I've gotta get on these guys before they get too loose." "See ya," Matty offered. >From a distance, standing above the five youths in the pool, Chad and Matty watched as a cute guy in a red speedo introduced their coach to Mark and Denis. "He's really checking them out, what do you think, Chad?" "I think you're reading into things." "What do you call it?" Chad sees it as, "He's checking out two prospective swim team members." "Could be." "Sure he is. Look at him instructing them on diving. Now look. Denis is diving in." "He must've done good. The whole team is rooting for him." "Not only that, they look like a bunch of nice guys." At least to Chad, the one in the black speedo, with the yellow lines running diagonal to the crotch, looks like a `nice' swimmer! % "We're not opening today." Christian was taken aback, as Michael mentions the fact. "Not opening?" "Nope. Well not fully. We'll serve light meals; coffee, donuts, but we're closed for renovations," Michael informs him. "No eggs?" "Nope." "Piece of cake," Christian acknowledges. Kevin Spangler walks in. "How'd the kid take it?" "Heartbroken that he wouldn't be slinging any eggs!" "I bet. Hey, what are those men doing in the lounge area?" "Workmen. Carpenters, plumbers, the assortment. The foreman is filling them in." "Nice looking lot." "Really?" Michael asks. "Not that I haven't got my hands full with you." "You say the sweetest things." "Thanks. Hey, I've got to call on B'n'B's today. I'll be gone most of the day." "Whoppee!" Michael says, fluttering his eyebrows and looking at the workmen. "Yeah right," Kevin follows up with an answer. "Oh come off it. You know I'm kidding." "Of course I do, but you look so cute when you're sweating, Michael! Hee heee!" When Kevin leaves, Michael stands there a minute, admiring the sights, until Christian calls for his attention. "Got a problem. Sorry. Broken coffee pot...my fault." "Broken carafe. No problem. I've got another coupla ones stashed in the main diningroom ." Leaving the small dining area, he passes through the archway to the main dining lounge. "Excuse me gentlemen." While Michael intrudes, the foreman introduces the owner. My how different they look up close. How macho, Michael thinks, the rugged carpenter's looks, v-neck collar, weighted leather belt, hammers and other accesories planted around the leather belt, rugged boots, all a big turn on. It gives him an idea, as he swipes the last two glass coffee carafes from under the counter. % "Dads, watch me!" Jeremy calls out. "He must've been a fish in his previous life," Matty tells Chad. "Is that my cell?" Chad fishes around in his gymbag for his cellphone. Answering it, he steps far away from the laughing crowd of squirts and the team cheering on Mark and Denis. Matty monitors both! "Zach was awfully sorry for bothering us." "What's up?" "Remember John Dellano?" "John... John Dellano? Dellano? Nope." Chad states, "You don't remember him fucking Zach's ex-boyfriend in the men's jon and getting caught?" "Oh damn! How could I forget a thing like that? So, what about him?" "He came back to the store." "Did Zach tell him to get lost?" "No. Seems like John has fallen on hard times. His dad passed away, leaving a stack of bills. He came back, begging for his job." ""Hmm... tough call on Zach's part." "Yeah, but we both know he's got a big heart, plus Neil." "Right. Neil's been around for quite awhile, so I guess they're sticking together. So, what about John?" "Zach said `time heals' and due to the circumstances, asked me if it was alright to take him back." "And you said `yes'?" "Of course. Hey, it took a lot of guts for John to come back and face Zach. Who knows, John prolly thought he was coming back to face you or I." "Could be. But," Matty continued, "I hope, in his own way, Zach sets him straight on the rules regarding sex and work not mixing!" It prompted Chad to chuckle, but he assured Matty that Zach would most likely say something, reenforcing the issue. % "I came over as soon as I heard." Both Callan and Freddie looked at the person standing at the back door. "Oh well, this is our new cook, Freddie Burris," Callan introduced. "Max Masterson," Max offered his hand. "I'm just curious," Callan asks, "how you heard of Freddie?" "Oh. Your other half phoned me, right after hanging up with you." Before Callan could make excuse, Freddie comes `out of the blue', with, "nice of him to do that for me!" Max puts his hand on Freddie's shoulder and ushers him into the kitchen. "I hear you're taking inventory." "Right. Things are pretty well messed up in here, but I know I can get a grip on things." "Anything you need, ask Callan or Alonzo. They're wonderful guys to work for." "What about the kids?" "Yeah, I heard from Alonzo you haven't worked with children before. Don't you have any nephews or nieces? Little cousins?" "No and yes. I have older siblings, from my step-dad, but being.... " Freddie's conversation died out, impinged on one little tidbit, another Max heard from Alonzo, but wasn't willing to share. Yet, he decided there were other ways of bringing out information. "By the way, my boyfriend will be around later. He's on desk duty at WRPD. I'd like you to meet him." "I'd like that. Say, I don't normally go around offering this. Only if it comes up, but do you happen to know of any guys my age?" "You're gay?" Max popped the question. "Yes and I'm kind of... more... well, desperate to meet some guys." "Well, first how old are you, if you want to meet guys your own age?" "Twenty-four." "Hmm... I don't think I know any single guys that age." "Or they can be around twenty-four. Give or take a year or two." ""Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open." "Thanks anyway. So, what do you think of this?" Freddie holds up a box of Cap'n Crunch. "Too much sugar in it, but becomes a good tool to bribe." "Bribe?" "Yeah and it works for any age, when you're getting somebody to do something." "Like what?" "Well, I know for a fact Diego and Seth are two really nice boys, but I also know they can be slobs, like the rest of the family, at times." "Really? Like when?" "This you wouldn't know, but for about three months, without a cook, I've had the two squirts at my kitchen door for every breakfast!" "Squirts?" "Long story. Here. Make some coffee and I'll tell you about it." "Oh, I don't think I should stop. Look at all this mess I've created." "Yes and look at the dates on some of this stuff. Open box of raisins from last year? I'd ditch them. No, you and I are getting a box of trash bags and tossing almost all of this food and starting out fresh." "But wouldn't Alonzo and Callan get mad about the food bill?" "They'll get more uptight when they wonder why they are getting sick on your cooking!" "Ya got a point there, Max." Max more or less watched Freddie put together his first cooking effort, the Braun coffee maker, measuring out the grinds and filling the back with water. He also checked out Freddie, disappointed in himself that he didn't know any guys who wouldn't mind meeting up with a `tall, dark and handsome twenty-four year old'! % Time out came at the gym pool, as the swimming team ran out of class time. It also coincided with lunch time, so the swim team invited Mark and Denis out for some sub sandwiches. "Matty, I'm starved," came the remark from Philip. With the saying, the bunch of them started in on the hunger pains! "I'll go to the cafeteria," Chad said, "and you get the boys out of the pool." Drying off, the boys slipped their tee shirts over their heads. "Hi guys!" "Caleb! James!" the kids all called out. Aidan yells out, "Ya just missed the best swim!" Most likely only because the swimming pool at home is only a third of the size of the college pool. "Chad went to get lunch," Matty said to Caleb's dads. "Mind if we dump the boys in your hands for awhile," Ty asks. "Yeah, Ty has to get back to the office and I'm on tour with the school teachers," Mike told Matty. "I hear the school is still pretty messed up." "We could only salvage a few things. The professional cleaners come in on Monday, but it'll take weeks before all the mud is cleared away." "Still," Matty comments, "You will probably be finding bits of dirt here and there. Nobody can be `that' clean!" "We'll see, but do you mind watching the boys?" "No problem. I take it James' father is working, too?" "And mother. Ty has taken a few sickdays, but we're nearing the end of his sick leave days." "No problem dropping the boys off with us. Either Chad or I will be monitoring the boys till school opens." "Thanks." "That's what neighbors are for!" % Copyright 2007 T.
