Chapter 26 – Things are Falling into Place.

On the ride back to the house, the boys were telling each other about the books they’d chosen, so I used my time to plan ahead.  It was also when I realized it was going to be well past dinnertime when we arrived at the house and then I’d have to hurry to whip up something for them to eat.  Since I knew the boys wouldn’t be able to wait that long, I stopped at the diner that I’d taken Dakota to before.  Not only would the boys be able to fill their bellies, but I wouldn’t have to fix anything when we got home, so this was a win-win all the way around. 

As soon as the boys were all full, which included dessert, we got back in the SUV and I drove the rest of the way to the house.  After I pulled into the garage, I asked the boys to take their clothes and the towels to the laundry room first, before they took their books and flip-flops up to their rooms.  I also told them that they were on their own for the rest of the night, because I’d be busy doing other things.  No one had a problem with this, and while they were busy doing other things, I took the diesel container out to the storage shed where I kept the tractor and left it there.  After doing that, I went into the house and cut the tags off of the new items we’d just purchased, and then I started doing the laundry. 

As soon as I put the first load into the washing machine, I headed upstairs to change into a pair of shorts and a tee shirt.  While I was up there, I discovered that Laine and Glen were reading the first book in the series they’d selected, which impressed me.  When I went downstairs again, I found Dakota and Jamie watching TV and they wanted me to join them, so I agreed.  I had to get up every now and then so I could move the clothes from the washer to the dryer, and after the first load was done I also had to fold the clothes that I took out of the dryer. 

I was able to finish washing each of those items before we went to bed, and I had Dakota and Jamie carry their clothes up to their room while I took Glen and Laine’s things up to them.  I left the towels in the dryer overnight and planned on folding them in the morning. 

After I gave Glen and Laine their clothes to put way, I decided to shower before I turned in.  As soon as I’d adjusted the water and closed the door behind me, the door suddenly opened again and four naked boys stepped in to join me. 

“I know this is a large shower, but it’s definitely going to be crowded in here with five of us at the same time.” 

“That’s ok, but we wanted to pay you back for today,” Laine replied. 

“You don’t have to do –,” I started to answer, but Dakota managed to stop me from finishing my comment by placing his lips over mine and giving me a very erotic kiss. 

As soon as he moved away, Glen and Laine started working on my nipples while Dakota knelt down in front of me so he could take my penis into his mouth.

Eventually, Laine and Glen returned to their rooms to sleep, while Jamie and Dakota wanted to spend the night with me, so I agreed to sleep in the middle.  After we’d brushed our teeth and emptied our bladders, we all got into bed and the boys put their heads on my chest and their arms across my belly as I wrapped an arm around each of them.  It was a wonderful ending to an unusual, but enjoyable day.  

The following morning after breakfast, I told the boys that I needed to mow the lawn again, so they were on their own while I did it.  They told me they were going to work with the education software while I was doing this, since they figured they needed to double up today to make up for not doing it yesterday.  I applauded them for being willing to do this, and then I headed outside. 

I was surprised when I realized that Laine was behind me, so I confronted him and asked what he was doing.  “Is there a reason you’re following me?” 

“Yeah, I was kinda hoping that since I watched you mow the lawn the last time that you might let me try doing it today.” 

“Let me fill the tank first, and then I want to see how much you remember about the things I told you.” 

After I’d topped off the tank and checked the oil, I began questioning Laine about what each of the pedals was for.  He answered all of my questions correctly, so I thought I might give him a chance to do this, 

“Just let me pull it out of the shed and then I’ll let you give it a try.” 

I had left the mower deck attached so it was ready to go, and after I pulled it out of the shed I left the tractor running and put it in neutral so I could let him take over.  His chest was swelled out with pride that I was willing to allow him to do this, and once he was ready I made one final suggestion before I let him get started. 

“Just go slowly until you get comfortable with driving this, and I’ll walk beside you in case you have a question or need help.” 

He was fine with this, so I watched as he started out.  He had a slight problem adjusting his speed at first, but he eventually got the hang of it.  When that happened, he started to gain more confidence as he made his way up and down the yard.  At various times I told him he could go a little faster if he felt comfortable doing so, and before long he was going nearly as fast as I did when I mowed the lawn.  He was doing a very good job, so I let him continue and he ended up mowing most of the yard.  I merely took over when it was time to mow close to the house and around the pond, because those areas were tricky.  Laine didn’t have a problem with this and was merely thrilled that I’d trusted him to do everything else. 

“Thanks, Dad, that was fun,” he told me when he was done. 

“You did a great job and I’m very impressed.” 

“Thank you, so does this mean you’ll let me do it again?” 

“Absolutely, as long as you realize there are a few things you’re not ready to do yet.  I’ll take the tractor out of the shed, do the same two areas that I did today, and then I’ll put the tractor back in the shed afterward, but other than that you can do everything else.” 

“I’m ok with that.”

“I figured you would be.”

When I’d taken care of the tractor and we entered the house, I went to see what the other boys were up to.  Jamie and Dakota were still on the computers, and Glen was in his room reading the first Hunger Games book. 

“Is it as good as you thought it would be?” I asked Glen when I saw what he was up to. 

“Yeah, and it tells a lot more stuff that wasn’t in the movie.” 

“That’s usually the case, seeing the movie can’t include everything or it would end up being two or three times longer.” 

After Laine washed up, he went to his room to read as well, and I felt he and Glen would probably get on the computers after lunch.  That reminded me; I still needed to figure out what I was going to feed the troops today.  After thinking about it for a brief time, I decided on fixing hot dogs, Kraft macaroni and cheese, and green beans for them, so I got everything out to do this. 

I waited a little longer before I started fixing their lunch, and just before noon I put a pan of water on the stove so I could boil the hot dogs, and then I put another pan of water on a different burner for the macaroni.  I was making a double batch of macaroni and cheese, since I knew the boys wouldn’t be satisfied with just one batch.  I put the green beans in the toaster oven to heat up, and it didn’t take long before everything was ready.  

I called the boys down to eat, and then the food disappeared in much less time than it took me to prepare the meal.  When they finished, they helped to rinse off the dishes and load the dishwasher before they headed upstairs, and then I wiped down the table and the kitchen. 

After I finished doing that, I remembered the towels were still in the dryer so I went to fold them.  I had just finished that task and put them in the linen closet in the master bathroom when my phone rang and I answered it quickly. 

“Eric, its Murray.  I just received a copy of the advocate’s report and I wanted to let you know what it says.  The advocate starts out by saying that she was uneasy about the idea of placing three teenage boys with a single man, but she changed her mind after doing the interviews.” 

“I’m certainly glad to hear that.” 

“I’m sure you are.  She goes on to say that she was impressed with the various things the boys told her, as well as what she heard from you, but those things weren’t what influenced her decision.  She said that happened when she saw how the boys were interacting with you and how they had already bonded with you.  She stated that she felt it would cause the boys irreparable mental and emotional anguish if the adoption process wasn’t allowed to go forward.  She concludes by recommending to the court that it should grant you full parental rights and allow you to adopt all three boys.  The court has scheduled this for a hearing on July 20^th at 2:00.” 

“That’s fantastic, but what about Jamie’s situation?” 

“Hopefully we’ll know the results of the DNA test by then, and if it’s found that he’s the son of the other man then he’ll just be removed from the adoption proceeding.  Even if that happens, you’ll still be able to adopt the other two.”  

“I’m pleased to hear about the advocate’s report and that a date has been set for the adoptions, so I’ll just pray the DNA test comes back negative.” 

“I’ll email you a copy of the advocate’s report so you can read it, and I’ll let you know about the DNA test as soon as I hear something.  Just maintain a positive attitude about this, because everything has gone the way you wanted so far, and with a little luck this trend will continue.” 

“I hope you’re right about that and thank you for everything you’ve done for us, including sharing this information with me.”

“You’re welcome, but as I told you before I’m only doing what you’re paying me for.” 

As soon as the call ended, I went to share the good news with the boys.  I called them all together in Dakota’s room to do it. 

“I just got off the phone with my lawyer and he had some good news.  He just received the advocate’s report and she recommends in favor of the adoptions, so the court has set the date for July 20^th.” 

While Dakota and Glen were cheering, I noticed Jamie wasn’t quite as excited as they were.  “What about me?  Will we know if you can adopt me by then?” 

“My lawyer says the results from the DNA test should be back by then.” 

“So what if the other guy is my dad?”

“We’ll try to work something out with him about keeping in touch with you if that’s the case, but if he’s your biological father then I won’t be able to adopt you.  However, we’re planning that won’t be the case and I’ll be able to adopt all of you at the same time.”  

“I hope that’s what happens, cuz I really want you to be my dad.” 

“And I want that as well.”  He didn’t seem to perk up as much as I hoped, so I decided to do something else.  “How would you like to spend some time with me for a while?” 

“Yeah, I’d like that.” 

I put my arm around his shoulder and we headed downstairs, and as we were walking down the steps I asked him a question.  “What would you like to do?” 

“I just want to sit with you.” 

“Would you like to watch TV while we’re doing that?” 

“Yeah, that sounds good.” 

We then went to the family room and I turned on the TV.  I sat on the sofa, pulled Jamie onto my lap, and handed him the remote.  “I’ll let you choose what we watch.” 

“Ok, and thanks for doing this with me.” 

I don’t think he was really into watching what was on the screen, even though he’d selected a channel with cartoons.  He just leaned back against my chest and sighed, so I wrapped my arms around him and kissed the top of his head.  We sat like that for about ten minutes before he turned toward me and spoke. 

“Would you suck my cock again?”

“Will it help make you feel better?” 

“Yeah, it will.”  He grinned after answering my question because he knew I was going to give in. 

“Ok, slide over and sit beside me so I can do it for you.”

“I hope he isn’t, but I’m glad we still might be able to do this even if he is my dad.” 

I had him put his briefs and shorts back on, and then I pulled him onto my lap again.  This time he actually watched the cartoons as I held him, and it was nice to hear him giggle once in a while as he enjoyed the show.

I stayed with Jamie until it was time to go fix dinner, and since I was going to prepare something for him to eat as well, he didn’t argue about me leaving.  I was in the middle of doing this when Dakota came rushing downstairs. 

“Have you seen Jamie?” he asked.  “I thought he was in his room readin’, but he’s not there.” 

“Yes, he came down here with me and we watched TV together.  He’s still in the family room, so you can go join him if you want.” 

“I just wondered where he was.  I thought he might have been upset since he knew me and Glen were gonna be adopted but he wasn’t sure yet, cuz of that other guy.” 

“Yes, he was upset, and that’s why I sat down with him so I could give him a little loving.” 

“What did you do?  Did you just hold him or did you suck him off again?” 

“I did both of those things and he’s in a little better mood now.” 

“Ok and I’ll go spend some time with him too.  I’ll even ask him to sleep with us again tonight.” 

I was mildly shocked that he wasn’t upset after I’d told him what I’d done with Jamie.  “That’s very generous of you and I’m sure he’ll enjoy it.” 

“Yeah and we’ll put him in the middle this time so we can both cuddle with him.” 

“Ok, that sounds like a great idea.”

As soon as he took off, I went back to working on dinner, and when it was ready I called the boys to eat.  As soon as we were all sitting around the table, Glen asked a question. 

“Did you really let Laine drive the tractor and mow the lawn today?”

“Yes, I did.  He stayed outside with me the last time and watched everything I did, so when he asked if he could drive, I quizzed him about the things we’d gone over the last time.  Once he answered my question, I let him give it a try and he did a very good job.” 

“I stayed out with you the last time too, so can I drive the tractor the next time you’re going to mow the lawn?” 

“The thing is you didn’t actually stay out with us the last time.  You got bored and went inside, but Laine stayed outside and observed my actions while I was mowing the lawn.  He also asked a bunch of questions about what I was doing, so I explained how to operate the tractor.” 

“So next time you can explain everything to me.” 

“It’s not that simple.  You’ll have to watch what I’m doing first, so when I explain it to you it will make more sense.  Then the next time I mow the lawn I’ll quiz you first, and if you get everything right then I may let you try doing it as well.”  

“Damn, summer will be over by then.”

“I’ll still have to mow the lawn in the early fall too, so you could do it then.  You’ll be here next summer as well, but it’s the only way I’m going to let you try doing it.” 

“Let me think about it then.” 

“Ok, I’ll leave it up to you.”  

“Is it the same for me too?” Dakota followed. 

“Yes, it’s the same for everyone.  The tractor is very different from every other vehicle you’ve driven so far and it’s the only way I’ll feel comfortable letting you drive it, so I leave it up to each of you if you want to do this.”  

“Yeah, I do cuz Laine won’t be here next summer,” Dakota confirmed.

“I might be here for some of it, cuz I’m gonna ask my parents if I can come back to visit,” Laine responded. 

“Ok, but I still want to do it too,” Dakota stated. 

“Me too,” Glen chimed in.  Obviously, Dakota’s decision to do this had prompted Glen to make up his mind.

“Then I’ll let both of you know the next time I’m planning to mow the lawn.” 

“But I thought you were gonna let me mow the yard again,” Laine protested. 

“Ok, then I can stand with these two and they can watch what you’re doing while I explain it to them.” 

“Ok, thanks,” Laine confirmed.

After dinner the boys wanted to go swimming again, but I made them wait an appropriate amount of time before I let them change into their swimsuits and put on their flip-flops.  I slipped on a pair of open-toed sandals before we walked down to the pond, and when we got there we took off our footwear before leaping into the water.  Jamie went last and waited for me to tell him I was ready to catch him before he jumped in, but he wasn’t as hesitant about doing it this time. 

I kept an eye on him and he swam beside me the entire time, and once in a while I would glance over to see how Dakota was doing as well.  He appeared to have gained a great deal of confidence in his ability and seemed to be having a good time with the other two, so I went back to watching Jamie.  We spent a little over an hour in the pond before the light began to fade as the sun set behind the trees, so we all scrambled up the ladders, put on our footwear, and headed back to the house. 

“Thanks, that was fun,” Jamie said during the walk. 

“Yeah, it was great,” Laine agreed. 

“I feel a lot better about bein’ able to swim now,” Dakota added. 

“Does this mean we don’t have to shower tonight,” Glen followed, “cuz we kinda got clean in the pond?” 

“I don’t think I’d go as far as to say you got clean, but if you want to skip your shower tonight then it’s ok with me.”

Even if the boys skipped their shower, I was still going to take one, so a little later I headed up to my bathroom.  As I was adjusting the water, I heard footstep behind me and suspected it might be Dakota and Jaime.  When I turned around, I was surprised to see Laine with them too. 

“We want to shower with you again,” Jamie stated. 

“Yeah, we’re not like Glen,” Dakota added. 

“Ok, but just to shower this time,” I added. 

“Can we all do it together?” Laine followed. 

“It will be a little tight, but I think we can manage.” 

“Great,” they all replied as they followed me inside.

After we finished washing each other, meaning three of us helped to wash the other person, we got out of the shower and dried off.  Jamie and Dakota went out and sat on my bed as they waited for me, and before he left Laine had something he wanted to tell me. 

“Thanks for lettin’ us do this with you tonight and thank you for lettin’ me drive the tractor earlier.  I’m gonna miss you guys when I have to go home.” 

“We’re going to miss you as well.”

“Not as much as I’ll miss you.  I love my parents and I want to see my brother again, but I’m gonna miss drivin’ the four-wheelers and havin’ sex with all of you too.” 

“We’ll keep in touch, and hopefully your parents will let you come back next summer to spend more time with us.” 

“Yeah, I’d really like that.” 

He then moved closer so he could give me a hug, and I was happy to hug him in return.  When we finally broke our embrace, he went over to his room and I got into bed with the other two.  They were already waiting for me, with Jamie in the middle, so I got in beside him.  I rolled onto my side and draped my arm across his chest so it was resting against Dakota’s arm as well, since he had his arm draped across Jamie’s midsection, and that’s the way we fell asleep. 

The following day was pretty low key.  The boys spent the mornings working with the educational software and reading their books, and in the afternoon we went out on the ATVs and took a dip in the pond before dinner. 

The next day started out the same way, but before we headed out on the ATVs my phone rang. 

“Eric, its Murray.  I just got the results of the DNA test.”
