Chapter 28 – Much to Do.

When I woke up the following morning, both boys still had their heads on my chest and their arms draped across my body, so I merely laid there for a while and glanced from one to the other.  They were both adorable and reminded me of two angels as I studied their features, and I was grateful things had worked out in our favor so we were now going to be a family. 

I delayed getting out of bed because I didn’t want to wake them, but my bladder was getting more and more insistent and I knew I couldn’t hold off much longer.  Eventually, I had to give in to the physical demands and attempted to slip out of bed, but both boys woke up as I was doing so. 

“Are you getting up?” Dakota mumbled, only partially awake. 

“I was going to go to the toilet first and then I figured I’d head down to the kitchen to get things ready for breakfast.” 

“Ok, then I’ll help ya.”

“Me too,” another groggy voice muttered. 

“You boys can stay in bed a little longer if you want and I’ll call you when I’m ready to make breakfast.” 

“Nah, I want to stay with you,” Dakota responded.

“Yeah, me too,” Jamie concurred. 

We then got out of bed, emptied our bladders, and washed up quickly before heading downstairs.  The boys were helping me get things out to fix breakfast, and a few minutes later the other two came stumbling down the stairs. 

“Is breakfast ready yet?” Glen asked as he yawned. 

“I’m just starting to fix it now.” 

“K, I’m hungry,” he grumbled in response.

“You’re always hungry, and it will be ready soon.”

I made sure to get things prepared as quickly as possible and asked Jamie to set the table while Dakota poured our drinks.  A couple of minutes later I carried the food to the table. 

“Dig in.  I can always make more if this isn’t enough.” 

The boys immediately began filling their plates and then shoveled the food into their mouths, but Jamie took a second to ask me a question in between mouthfuls. 

“If that guy thought he was my dad, it means he and my mom was havin’ sex, doesn’t it?” 

“Yes, adults tend to do that too.” 

“But if he’s not my dad, then it means my mom was havin’ sex with someone else.” 

“Yes, I suppose it does.” 

“And what if he finds out about me?  Will he want me to come live with him?”

“Honestly, I don’t know and we can’t even be sure he’s alive or that he would want to be a dad.  Some men like having sex but don’t want to be a parent.” 

“But what if he does?  Will I have to go live with him?”

“You’re going to legally be my son in two more days, and once that happens I think I’ll have a greater claim on keeping you than I did with this other guy.” 

“So he won’t be able to take me?” 

“I think we might possibly have to allow him visitation rights, but I believe the judge will take your feelings into consideration if he tries to claim you.”

“Then why didn’t they just do that this time?”

“Because this time I was only the guy who had custody of you and you were living with, but I will legally be your dad in two more days so it will give me greater standing if another man shows up claiming to be your father.”

“K, I hope so, cuz I wanna stay here with you.”

“I’ll do everything in my power to make sure that happens, because I want you to stay here as well.”

That ended our discussion and I hoped it had put Jamie’s mind at ease.  To tell the truth, I had come to those same conclusions before Jamie brought them up and I’d reached a few conclusions of my own.  First of all, Jamie’s mom may have informed the biological father when she first discovered she was pregnant and he simply chose to walk away.  She may have also decided that she didn’t want the guy in her or her son’s lives and never told him. 

There’s also the possibility that something had happened to the man in the interim and he’s no longer alive.  He could have died in an automobile accident, been a victim of random violence, such as a shooting, or he might have joined the military and been killed while on duty.  We have no way of knowing who he was or why he had never been part of Jamie’s life, but there are a myriad of possibilities to explain his absence, some of which I just listed.  No matter the reason why Jamie’s biological father has not been part of his life, I’m just as happy to let sleeping dogs lie. 

Now that we were done with breakfast, the boys helped to rinse off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher while I was taking care of the items I’d used to prepare everything.  Once that had been taken care of, Laine asked a question. 

“So what are we gonna do today?”

“First of all, you boys still have to work on the computer,” I reminded him. 

“Yeah, but can’t we do somethin’ else first?” 

“Possibly, so what do you have in mind?”

“Will you take us on another walk into the woods, but this time where I walked into the government land with Dakota and Glen before?” 

“Yes, I suppose we could do that before it gets really hot out.” 

“Yeah, let’s do that,” they all agreed. 

Since the boys wanted to go on another walk in the woods, we got dressed and prepared to head out.  I made sure they each took a bottle of water with them, because it was already warm out.  It was a bit of a hike just to get from the house to the spot where we would enter the government land, and before we went into the woods I reminded the boys of a few things.  I advised them to stay together, remain quiet, and to be on the lookout for wildlife and other things, and then I led them farther onto the government land. 

“I think I see someone else in the woods over there,” Glen stated as he pointed ahead of us and slightly to the left. 

“Yes, there appears to be a couple of women in here as well,” I confirmed. 

“What are they doin’?” Jamie asked. 

“It looks as if they’re collecting items off the ground, possibly for some sort of arts and crafts project.” 

“Where did they come from?” Dakota followed. 

“They probably parked their car along the road and then walked into here.” 

“You mean the road that we live on?” Jamie asked. 

“Yes, there are places where you can pull a vehicle off the road and leave it temporarily.” 

The women didn’t bother us, and it’s possible they didn’t even notice us either, but I veered slightly to our right so we wouldn’t interfere with whatever they were doing.  It also made me wonder if there were others in this area as well, so I asked the boys to keep their eyes open for that possibility.  I was also glancing up in the trees to see if I could spot more tree stands or other items, but all I noticed were a few squirrels racing across the various branches.  We spent nearly two hours walking around on the government land and it was starting to get very hot out, so I told the boys it was time to head back. 

“How come we didn’t see any deer this time?” Jamie wanted to know. 

“We may have been making too much noise and scared them off or possibly because there is no water source around here.  It could also be due to the fact that this area is frequented by more nature lovers and others, such as the two women we saw earlier, so the animals may have gone deeper into the woods.”

“I didn’t see any of the tree stands around here either,” Glen pointed out. 

“I didn’t either and that might be due to similar reasons.  Since other people often wander around this area, the deer and other animals tend to live deeper in the woods, so that’s where the hunters would need to go.” 

When we eventually got back to the house, we all grabbed another drink because we’d all drained our water bottles on the hike.  The boys and I then headed upstairs to take a quick shower, because we had been sweating profusely during our little adventure.  Once again, Jamie and Dakota wanted to shower with me, even though I’d warned them that it would be a cold shower this time.  They didn’t seem to grasp the significance of this fact when they agreed to it, but the cold water definitely kept either of them from sprouting wood and then pestering me to suck them off. 

Glen and Laine had used the other bathrooms, and once we had all finished washing up and drying off, the boys got on the computers while I did other things.  One of the things I did was to start thinking about lunch, because I knew the boys would be hungry by the time the first couple of them got done working with the educational software. 

After we ate lunch, the boys went upstairs again so the final pair could work on the computers.  When they finished doing that, they came downstairs again and asked a question. 

“Can we go swimming now?”

“Sure we can do that.  Let’s go upstairs and put on our swimsuits, and don’t forget to grab the towel you used after you showered last night.” 

“Ok, we’ll bring those too.” 

Once we were all ready, we left our towels on the porch before heading down to the pond.  As soon as we arrived there, the boys kicked off their flip-flops, raced down the dock, and jumped into the water.  Jamie and Dakota were right behind Laine and Glen and didn’t wait for me this time, since they were both gaining confidence in their ability.  I was a bit more reserved and walked down the dock before I jumped into the pond with them. 

“I’m glad you taught me how to swim, cuz this is fun,” Jamie told me shortly after I hit the water. 

“Yes, you’re doing very well and I’m very proud of you.” 

“Yeah, I’m not scared of bein’ in the water any more.” 

“I noticed, because you didn’t wait for me this time.” 

“Yeah, I don’t gotta do that no more, but I won’t go swimmin’ if you’re not here with us.” 

“That’s a wise precaution, but I’m glad you’re feeling more confident about doing this.”

We stayed in the water for about an hour and a half, and when we got out the boys walked with me back to the house. 

“Man, it feels like we’ve been livin’ here with you forever,” Glen observed. 

“Yeah, it’s hard to remember when we had to look for a place to sleep at night,” Laine continued. 

“I feel safe here and don’t even think about that stuff any more,” Dakota added. 

“Yeah, and now we’re all gonna be a family,” Jamie followed. 

“That we are, and no one’s happier about it than me.” 

“We are,” the boys all chirped back. 

“Yes, I suppose you are and I’m really glad you feel that way.”

“I still kinda wish I could stay here with the rest of you,” Laine added. 

“Let’s put it this way, if anything ever happens to your parents, you know that you and your brother have another family you can count on.  All you have to do is let me know and I’ll be there in a flash to get you.” 

“Yeah, I know and that makes me feel good too.” 

After we dried off, we all went to our rooms to change, and then the boys decided to play games on the computers while I headed downstairs again.  I decided to do a load or two of laundry before I started fixing dinner, and I actually finished a couple of loads while I was getting things ready for our evening meal. 

I wasn’t surprised when the boys came downstairs to ask when we were going to eat, so I merely told them it would be soon.  They went to the family room to watch TV while they waited, and then they all came storming out when I called them to the table.  While we were eating, the boys wanted to know what we were going to do next. 

“What do you feel like doing?” I asked. 

“I don’t know, cuz it seems like we’re always doin’ the same things,” Glen answered.

“Yeah, we should get more stuff that we can do?” Dakota stated. 

“Do you mean things you can do indoors or outdoors?”

“Ummm, both.” 

“Ok and there’s something else I’ve been thinking about that will work into this idea as well.  After the mess we made in front of the garage the other day when we washed the ATVs, I was thinking about hiring a company to put down a cement pad there.  If I’m going to do that, I suppose I could also look into putting up a basketball hoop.” 

“Yeah, that would be good,” Laine agreed. 

“And I could probably purchase some decks of cards and a few board games we could play against each other as well.”  

“Yeah, that would be good too,” Glen concurred.

“And maybe you could get a playground ball that we could use to play 4-Square, if there’s gonna be cement that we can play it on,” Jamie suggested. 

“Great idea.  Tomorrow I’ll call a guy that I know who can do that for me, and then I’ll go online and order a bunch of different things to have delivered here.” 

“Can we help you do that?”

“Sure.  I’d love to have your input when I’m deciding on what to order.  The only thing we have left to decide is what we’re going to do for the rest of the night.”

“Let’s watch another movie,” Jamie offered.

“Ok, let’s see what on demand movies are available.” 

After looking over our options, the boys chose the movie The Kid Who Would Be King.  It was a cute movie about a boy named Alex and his friend, Bedders, who were being bullied by two other boys, Lance and Kaye.  While fleeing from them, Alex finds a sword that turns out to be Excalibur, and then the wizard Merlin turns up at his school as a new student.  Together, they end up fighting the evil enchantress Morgana and this leads to some very interesting situations.  The boys seemed to enjoy watching it, and since it wasn’t overly scary I didn’t think I’d have to worry about a late night visit from Jamie. 

Once the movie ended, we all went upstairs and the boys wanted to shower again.  “But we already showered and then we went swimming.  Why do you want to take another shower?” 

“Cuz the last one was cold, so we want to take a warm shower this time,” Dakota responded. 

“Ok, I suppose we could do that then.”  I headed into the bathroom and Jamie and Dakota were right behind me.  “You know, this is becoming a habit,” I teased when they entered my bathroom. 

“Yeah, we like doin’ this with you,” Dakota responded. 

“And we like it when you wash us,” Jamie added. 

“Is that all you like?” I pressed. 

“I like it when I get a boner and then you suck on it for me,” he replied and then he giggled. 

“I had a feeling there was more than you just wanting to shower with me.” 

“It’s cuz we love you too,” Jamie added. 

“Love me or love me helping you get your rocks off?”

“Can’t it be both?” he asked and then he grinned. 

“I suppose it can.  So do you both want me to do that for you?” 

“Yeah,” Dakota agreed.  “You can make love to me tomorrow night.”

I then ended up washing both boys before sucking them off, and once I finished they washed me.  Jamie even sucked on my penis for a while before Dakota took over, and then Jamie had me spread my legs so he could rim me. 

“I’m surprised you like doing this,” I stated just before he started. 

“It’s kinda fun, and then you can do it to us when we get out to your bed.” 

“Even though you’ve already cum?”

“Yeah, cuz I like when you do that to me too.”

After I blew my load into Dakota’s mouth, we finished washing up.  After we dried off, both boys raced into my bedroom and leapt onto the bed, and they both had their knees pulled back to their chest by the time I joined them. 

“Ok, who’s going first?”

“You can start with Jamie, seeing it was his idea,” Dakota offered. 

I then spent the next couple of minutes rimming Jamie, and then I moved over to do the same thing to Dakota.  Once they were both satisfied, Jamie asked a question. 

“Can I sleep with you guys too?”

“Yes, as long as Dakota doesn’t mind.” 

“Nah, it’s ok,” Dakota confirmed. 

“So who’s in the middle, you or me?”

“You!” Jamie answered.

I didn’t hesitate and got into bed between them, and then they both laid their heads on my chest as they cuddled with me.  I held each of them as well, and gradually we drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up the following morning, I found myself lying between the two boys and decided to wait until they began to stir before I got up to fix their breakfast.  

After we finished eating and the boys had helped me clear off the dishes, I called my friend and asked if he would be able to do what I wanted in the driveway.  He agreed he’d be happy to stop by and measure the area so he could give me an estimate, and after I got off the phone with him, I grabbed my laptop to order the other things we’d discussed.  The boys helped me pick out the things they wanted me to order and they’d be delivered in a few days. 

Once that was taken care of, I explained to the boys that I wanted them to show me what they were going to wear to the adoption ceremony the following day.  I said I wanted each of them to wear a pair of slacks, a short sleeve dress shirt, and their dress shoes, but I was going to let them choose which pair of slacks and shirt they preferred.  I would merely make certain they looked good, and they had just gone up to their rooms to decide what they were going to wear when my phone rang. 

“Eric, its Murray.  I just got a call from the judge and he wants to know if you and the boys would be able to come to his chambers tomorrow at noon.  He wants to speak with each of you during his lunch break, so will you be available to make it at that time?” 

“Yes, of course, but do you know what he wants?” 

“He just said he’d like to meet each of you and get to know a little about you before he certifies the adoption.” 

“Didn’t the advocate already do that?” 

“Yes, but some judges like to do it personally, including this particular judge.” 

“Does this mean he has doubts about me adopting the boys?”

“No, he just wants to meet and chat with you individually to be certain the adoption is in everyone’s best interest, but it doesn’t mean he has any doubts.  From what I’ve been told, he does this with every case where the adoptees are old enough to speak on their own behalf.” 

“Ok, then you can tell him we’ll be there.” 

“Great.  I’ll call his office and confirm your appointment.”

This was something else I hadn’t expected or planned for, but Murray seemed positive it shouldn’t be a big deal.  We can easily leave the house early enough so we’ll be there in plenty of time to do this and then the boys and I can just grab lunch after the meeting and before we have to appear in court.  I only hope there are no other surprises along the way. 

I quickly made a few other phone calls and followed up on the calls I had made the previous day, but these calls were merely to make certain the situation had been taken care of.  Once that had been confirmed, I checked to see what each of the boys was planning to wear to court, and then they either went back to working on the computer or reading.

Since those things had been taken care of, I went downstairs and did a couple more loads of laundry, and it was during this time that I began to consider how Cinderella must have felt.  I could sympathize with what she had endured, since I was spending a great deal of time cooking, cleaning, and doing the laundry as well, although I wasn’t locked in the house.  I got to go out and do things with the boys, as well as being invited to join in their sexual escapades, so I definitely had it better than she did.  It also appears as if it’s going to stay this way, at least for a few more years, and I’m fine with that as well. 

While we were eating lunch, I told the boys about having to drive into the city a little earlier than anticipated the next day so we could meet with the judge.  I explained that my lawyer had called to confirm that we could do this and advised me it was just a formality that the judge liked to do with each of the older children coming before him to be adopted. 

“So he’s not gonna try to talk us out of doin’ this?” Glen asked. 

“My lawyer said he just wants to make sure it’s what you boys want and that it’s in your best interest.” 

“We should be able to convince him of that,” Dakota responded.  “We just have to do what we did with the advocate.” 

“Yes, that’s exactly what you’ll need to do.”

“So do we have to do it by ourselves again?” Jamie followed. 

“Yes, he wants to speak with each of us individually.” 

“So what will I do?” Laine asked. 

“You’ll sit with the rest of us while we wait to be called into his chambers, so I suggest each of you take a book to help you pass the time.” 

Once that had been cleared up, the boys finished eating, and then they loaded the dishes into the dishwasher after rinsing them off.  I just hoped our interviews with the judge went as well as our lmeeting with the advocate.  It was just one more hurdle we had to leap over before I was able to adopt the boys and we became a family.
