Chapter 36 – Animal Kingdom.

When we arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Saturday, I decided to start out in the Africa section and took the boys on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride first.  After loading onto the rugged open-sided vehicle, we explored the areas that represented the various African habitats, such as savannas, forests/jungles, rivers, and rocky hills, and it included a variety of animals that live in those habitats.  Along the way we saw 34 different species of animals, ranging from elephants, rhinos, hippos, Nile crocodiles, cheetahs, lions, antelopes, giraffes, hyenas, zebras, flamingos, and ostriches.  I think the boys gained a better understanding of these creatures after seeing them out in the open, rather than in cages, photos, or films, and I felt the tour was well worth the time.

Man, I was worried that some of those animals were gonna attack us,” Jamie stated when the ride ended.

Even though a few of the less dangerous animals were able to cross the road in front of our vehicle or came close to it, the park has ways of keeping the most dangerous animals from being able to do the same thing.”

I can’t believe how close we got to the lions,” Glen added.  “They were movin’ around, but then they stopped and just looked at us.”

Yeah, and I was hopin’ they weren’t thinking ‘dinner is served’,” Dakota joked.

It’s still cool enough for them to be active, but when it gets hotter as the day progresses then they’ll start lying around and taking it easy, and possibly even sleep.  The lionesses will do the hunting and go out just before sunset or at sunrise.”

So the girl lions do the hunting?” Caleb asked.

Yes, they are the hunters.”

As we moved along, Laine made a comment.  “The hippos don’t look dangerous when we saw them hanging out in the water, but I’ve heard they can kill humans too.”

Yes, hippos can be very dangerous if you intrude into their territory.  They can flip over a canoe or cause enough damage to a boat by ramming it until it sinks, and then they can use their huge mouths to crush the survivors.”

And the crocodiles we saw were enormous, so they can probably kill people too,” Dakota added.

Yes, they can grow up to twenty feet in length and are extremely dangerous.”

I was a little scared when we were close to some of those animals, but I still liked seein’ them too,” Caleb admitted.

I’m glad, and you don’t have to worry because I’d never have let anything happen to you,” I assured him as we concluded our discussion.

After leaving that ride, we took a walking tour around Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail next.  This time we were able to observe black-and-white colobus monkeys, gorillas, gazelles, meerkats, tarantulas, warthogs, Egyptian sand boas, naked mole-rats, numerous species of birds, and other African wildlife.  Once again, I think the boys got a lot more out of this than if they’d looked at photos or watched these same animals on film, because they got to see their true size and unpredictable nature.

I wouldn’t want to be near one of those gorillas when it was angry,” Laine observed.  “They looked really strong.”

Yes, they’re very powerful animals and can be quite dangerous.”

This was fun, but can we do something else besides just lookin’ at animals?” Glen asked.

Yes, and we’ll be doing that next, so please be patient.”

We then made our way to the newest section of the park, Pandora: the World of Avatar, and headed directly to the Flight of Passage ride.  I used our FastPass+ here to avoid waiting in line, and we watched the two pre-shows before going on it.  The first video was purely instructional and told us what to do, and that was followed by a safety lecture and we were matched up with our avatars.  The second video explained why the banshees are important to Pandora, along with telling us what we should expect.  As soon as we’d seen both videos, we were led to the vehicles next.

This is a virtual reality ride and everyone is given his own vehicle that he straddles like a bicycle to simulate flying on the back of one of the banshees.  Once we were fastened in and wearing our 3-D glasses, the banshees flew us all around Pandora.  The movements of the vehicle made it feel as if we were actually flying, which was a mixture of feeling like we were riding on a roller coaster and paragliding at the same time.  The visual effects were absolutely stunning and made us feel as if we were actually flying over the planet, which made this a thrilling experience.

That was totally awesome,” Dakota gushed when we all met up again once the ride ended.

Yeah, that was a total blast,” Jamie agreed.

And I’m glad we finally got to do somethin’ like this,” Glen added.

It was fun, but I thought my banshee was gonna crash into the trees and the rocks we was flyin’ by,” Caleb added.  “And then that whale jumped out of the water as we were goin’ over it and I thought we was gonna crash into that too.”

Yes, it did make you feel like that, didn’t it?” I replied.

After we left there I led them to the next ride, which was the Na’vi River Journey.  This is another ride on the planet Pandora, but this time we sailed down a river on two small, hand-hewn rafts that were joined together.  Each raft has two bench-like seats and can carry up to six passengers, so I had Jamie and Caleb sit in front with me, while the other three rode in the seat behind us on the first raft.  We then made our way down the river and through the dark Pandoran jungle and viewed the glowing, bioluminescent plant life and observed the exotic animals on this mythical planet.  Just before it ended, we were introduced to the Na’vi Shaman of Songs, a very graceful and lifelike animated figure that began to sing and perform a ritual as we approached.

That was nice, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting as the last ride,” Laine stated as we were getting off.

It had some fantastic visual effects, but none of the dips and rapid directional changes of the previous ride,” I agreed.

From there we went on a walk through the Valley of Mo’ara.  It’s the area of Pandora where the Na’vi people live and there are many unusual features here.

What’s that arch like thing?” Dakota asked.

It’s one of the floating mountains of Pandora.”

Do they really float?”

No, but the way they were formed make them appear as if they’re floating.”

This is really weird looking,” Jamie stated while pointing at one of the plants.

The Na’vi call it a vein pod and it’s what makes it possible for the Na’vi to live here.  The vein pods absorb the toxins out of the air, and if they didn’t do that the people and most of the plants wouldn’t be able to survive on Pandora.”

I like the waterfalls,” Caleb added.  “They’re high and look neat.”

Yes, they are impressive.”

And there are a bunch of different sounds coming from all around us,” Glen pointed out.

Yes, some of those sounds are made by the animals, but most are made by the Na’vi people.  They like to play drums and sing, and it’s some of what you are hearing now.”

Once we finished our walk, we left that area and made our way to Discovery Island next.  This is the central hub of the Animal Kingdom and the first thing we saw as we entered the area was the man-made baobab tree, or Tree of Life.  The boys immediately informed me that they wanted to check it out, so we walked around it and inspected the marvelous images of various animal species that had been carved into its exterior.  After that, we went inside to watch It’s Tough to be a Bug, which is a 3D show based on the Pixar film A Bug’s Life and features many of the same characters.  It was entertaining, at least for those who didn’t mind being surrounded by bugs, and when it ended we took off for our next destination.

I decided to take the boys for a walk around the trails next, so they’d have a chance to study the different animals residing in this area.  As we walked along the trail we saw storks, flamingos, cranes, macaws, vultures, otters, lemurs, and kangaroos.

Man, we’ve sure seen a lot of animals today,” Jamie stated.

Yes, and I suppose it’s why this place is called Animal Kingdom,” I teased, which cause all of the boys to groan in response.

It’s been fun, but I’m getting’ hungry and need something to eat,” Dakota added.

Yeah, me too,” the others chimed in.

We can stop to do that, but I’m glad the animals aren’t as ravenous as you boys or there might be fewer of us here now.”

Ha, ha.  Very funny,” Dakota mocked.

We quickly discussed where we were going to eat, and although I would have liked to go to Flame Tree Barbecue, the boys wanted pizza so we went to Pizzafari instead.  We each had a personal pizza, Caesar salad, and a beverage, along with a cannoili cake for dessert.  I’ll admit that I’ve eaten better pizza before, but the salad and dessert were very good, and the boys all seemed satisfied.  I guess that’s all that really mattered.

Now that we were all full, I felt we should take it easy for a while, so I took them back to Africa to watch a couple of shows.

How come were comin’ back here?” Glen asked.

There are a couple of shows that I think you’ll enjoy, but they weren’t being performed when we were here earlier.”

The first one we went to was the Festival of Lion King, which is performed on a round stage and features both animatronics and live action.  I used the FastPass+ to ensure we would get in, and I was glad that I’d done it because the place was packed. The performers entered from all directions and moved through the audience as they made their way to the stage.  Many of the actors were dressed in traditional native costumes and a few were on stilts so they appeared to be 15 feet (4.5 m) tall.  The performance featured singing, dance, acrobatics, and aerial acts, which included the use of trampolines, high bars, rings, and a trapeze.  It was totally fascinating from start to finish.

Man, they sang a lot of the songs that was in the movie,” Caleb pointed out.

Yes, and they encouraged you to sing along if you knew the words.”

I knew Caleb was gonna like this, but I wasn’t sure I would,” Laine admitted, “but that was really good.”

Yeah, I thought it was gonna be lame too,” Glen added, “but that was interestin’.”

I’m glad you all enjoyed it.

From there I took the boys to see the Harambe Village Acrobats.  Just as the name implies, men dressed in native costumes performed multi-tiered acrobatic stunts that featured up to six individuals at a time.  It was all done to a drum beat being pounded out by one of the men, and at the very end the performers encouraged audience participation as they led them in a sort of dance routine.

Damn, those guys must be really strong to do some of that stuff,” Glen observed, and then Laine elbowed him.  “Hey, what did ya do that for?”

Remember what Dad said, so start usin’ dang instead of damn.”

Sayin’ damn isn’t really bad,” Glen challenged.

Maybe not, but I’d prefer that you get used to using dang, especially when you’re at school,” I added in Laine’s defense.

Ok, I’ll try.”

From there I led them over to get on board the narrow gauge Wildlife Express Train in order to reach Rafiki’s Planet Watch next, since it’s the only way to get there other than walking.  It’s in that area where we learned what we could do to protect different animal habitats and about various endangered species.  We also got a chance to see how the Disney staff cared for the various animals, and there was also a petting zoo, but we didn’t stay in that area for very long.

So if the endangered animals die out then they won’t be around any more?” Jamie asked.

Yes, and it’s why we don’t see many animals today, because they’ve become extinct.  Some were due to natural reasons, like the wooly mammoths, saber-toothed cats, and dinosaurs, but others were due to things man has done.  Those would include the dodo, the west African Black Rhino, the passenger pigeons, the Tasmanian tiger, and the Pyrenean Ibex, which was a wild goat.”

I hope that doesn’t happen to the animals they told us about today.”

I hope that as well.”

We then took the train back to Africa before heading over to the Asia section next.  As soon as we got there, I led the boys to Expedition Everest, a popular roller coaster that I’d used the FastPass+ on so we could skip the lines.  We started out by riding the coaster up the Himalayas, and once we reached the top, the real fun began as we descended down the winding track.  We continue our descent until we reached a point where the track appeared twisted and mangled, which caused the roller coaster to come to a stop so it didn’t plummet into the abyss.  The cars then began to roll backward for about 30 seconds until they came to a stop at a spot where we were able to see a Yeti tearing up more track.  The roller coaster then veered onto a side-track and continued the rapid descent down the mountainside, thus completing a very exciting ride that the boys thoroughly enjoyed.

Whoa, that was wicked,” Glen gushed.

Yeah, it was one of the best roller coasters I’ve ever been on,” Laine concurred.

I’m glad I was ridin’ with you,” Caleb told me, “cuz that was really scary.”

We then headed over to the next ride, the Kali River Rapids.  Before we got in line, I placed my phone, wallet, and the list of things to do today into one of the available lockers, because I’d read the warning that we’d get wet on this ride.  When we reached the front of the line, we were all able to get on the same circular raft together, along with a few others, and then started our little adventure.  Once we were all aboard, the raft began its ascent up the conveyer belt to the top of the 90-foot hill.

After reaching the top, I warned the boys to hold on to the circular bar in the middle of the raft because I’d heard people have actually fallen off the raft at various points.  They did as I asked quickly, and then we started down the fast-moving river.  Along the way we passed a waterfall, several geysers that shot water into the air, and a variety of interesting rock formations before we plunged down the final 30-foot drop.  By this point we were all very wet from the geysers, but we got even wetter as we rode the rapids, but it helped to cool us down.  We also got wet when water dripped on us as we passed through a cave, and again when we passed by a series of statues of elephants that were able to shoot water.  They were controlled by other guests, and I assume some of those people either knew or were related to others on our raft, because they made sure we all got sprayed as we passed by.

That was fun, but now I feel like I just peed myself,” Jamie whined.

Don’t worry, it’s really hot out so we’ll dry off quickly.

I used that opportunity to take them on the Maharajah Jungle Trek next, which was a series of trails through a jungle like setting where we got to see animals indigenous to Asia.  Along the way we got to see a komodo dragon, a couple of different species of tigers, a water buffalo, gibbons, bats, and several varieties of birds.

Can that dragon breathe fire?” Caleb asked when he saw the Komodo dragon.

No, it’s not really a dragon, but was given that name because people thought it looked like one.  It’s actually the largest lizard on earth and it can grow up to ten feet (3 m) in length.”

Do those tigers we saw kill and eat people?” Jamie asked after seeing the Siberian and Bengal tigers.

They’ve been know to at times.”

Those monkeys were cute,” Dakota stated, referring to the gibbons.

They weren’t monkeys.  They’re small apes.”

What’s the difference?”

Monkey’s have tails and apes don’t.  Gibbons are in the same group as chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas.”

Oh, I didn’t know that.”

We were still making our way around that area when the boys let me know they were hungry again.  I was too, and we were also much drier now, so I agreed we’d get some food now.  This time, however, I chose where we were going to eat dinner and took them to the Yak & Yeti.  We ordered a variety of meals, such as the Teriyaki Beef Bowl, Honey Sesame Chicken, and Kobe Beef Cheeseburgers.  We followed that up with Pineapple Upside-Down Cake topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert, and after we’d filled our bellies I led them to the final area, DinoLand U.S.A.

The first ride we went on was called DINOSAUR, and as we waited in line we studied the various displays that lined the area.  This included Sue, a life-size casting of a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton that was found in South Dakota and is 13 feet (4 m) tall and 40 feet (12 m) long.  After we finally got on the ride, it started off in the dark as we traveled back in time.  Eventually, we reached an assortment of lighted areas that featured a variety of animated dinosaurs, complete with audio animatronics.  Some were very scary and loud, but they were all realistic and entertaining.

From there we went to ride on the Primeval Whirl next, which is a circular, spinning roller coaster.  It is similar to other roller coasters in that it climbs up a steep slope at the start, but this car spun around as it navigated the sharp turns and stomach churning dips.

Wow, that was different,” Glen observed.

Yeah, I didn’t know a roller coaster could spin around like that,” Jamie added.

It was certainly unusual, and it’s also the last of the rides for today,” I informed them.

Even though it was getting late, the boys weren’t ready to call it quits just yet.  “Can’t we go on one of the other rides again before we leave?” they collectively whined.

I suppose we might be able to fit in one more ride, but we’ll have to wait in line so we won’t have time to do more than that, so which one do you want to go on again?”

After talking it over, the boys agreed to return to Expedition Everest and they were chatting excitedly as we made our way to the Asia section again.  They’d obviously enjoyed the ride the first time they were on it, and the line wasn’t as bad as I’d feared, although it would still be our final ride.  I urged the boys to enjoy it while it lasted, which they did, and I must admit that it is definitely one of the most under-rated attractions at Disney World.

Thanks for letting us do this again,” they announced as we were getting off.

You’re welcome, but let’s get going so we don’t miss the bus back.”

We hurried over to the area where we would catch our ride to the resort, and as we made our way there the boys were busy talking about the things they liked the most about today.

I liked that last roller coaster best,” Laine told the others, meaning Expedition Everest.

Yeah, that was really good, but I liked the one that spun us around too,” Dakota followed, meaning the Primeval Whirl.  “It made it more fun spinning around in circles like that.”

I liked the boat ride that we got wet on,” Caleb added, referring to the Kali River Rapids.  “I was really hot and that helped to cool me off.”

I liked the Flight of Passage ride where we flew over Pandora,” Glen offered.  “I know it was just a simulation, but it felt real and I loved the things we saw as we did it.”

I liked all of it, even when we were ridin’ around looking at all the animals,” Jamie chimed in, indicating the Kilimanjaro Safari.

I agree it was all wonderful, and as soon as we get back to the villa I want each of you to shower quickly and then get in bed.  We’ve got another big day ahead of us tomorrow.”

No one argued with me, and I assumed it was because they were all tired from doing so much walking, so when the bus reached the resort we hopped off and went directly to our villa.  Jamie and Caleb wanted me to wash them again, but I made sure they both understood I wasn’t going to suck them off again before I agreed.  Caleb whined for a while and pleaded with me to do it for him, but I didn’t give in.  After they agreed to my condition, I washed them both and then sent them off to hop in bed.

Dakota joined me in the shower after they left and we washed each other quickly, and then he asked me to make love to him.  I was a little hesitant because I was so tired, but eventually I gave in and did what he wanted.  We had to jump in the shower again afterward, and before we got back into bed I went to make sure the other boys were in bed first.  I peeked into their room and didn’t see any movement or hear any noise, so I returned to my room and got in bed with Dakota.  Sometime later I heard someone enter our bedroom, and when I looked around I saw Caleb walking toward me, and Jamie was right behind him.

What’s wrong?” I asked as I sat up.

Jamie peed in my mouth,” Caleb whined.

He did what?”

Dad, let me explain,” Jamie offered.  “Caleb wanted us to suck each other off, but he wanted to wait until Glen and Laine were asleep first.  After I sucked on his cock, he wanted to do it to me, and I forgot he didn’t know what to expect and I kinda cummed in his mouth.”

Ah, that explains it.  Caleb, Jamie didn’t pee in your mouth and it was something called semen, not urine.  That’s a liquid that comes out of your penis during sex and it’s what makes a girl have a baby if you shoot it inside her.”

Is it gonna make me sick or will I have a baby now, cuz I swallowed some of it?”

No, neither of those things will happen, and boys can’t have babies.  If you remember when I sucked on Jamie’s penis last night, he did the same thing to me.”

So you swallowed that stuff?”

Yes, I did, and it didn’t hurt me.  In fact, I usually swallow it when I suck off someone else.”

Then how come I don’t do that?”

You’re still too young, but it will happen when you get older.  Your penis will get bigger first, and you’ll also get some hair around it like the other boys, and then you will start shooting that stuff too.  In fact, it will probably happen sometime in the next year or two.”

Ok, then I’m not mad at Jamie no more.”

Good, then why don’t you two go get back in bed.”

Ok, but can me and Jamie sleep with you tomorrow night?”

I looked at Dakota before I answered, and when he gave me a slight nod in response, I answered Caleb.  “Ok, I suppose you can sleep in here with me tomorrow, but only if you get into bed right now.”

They both raced off, so I looked over at Dakota.  “Are you sure you’re ok with that?”

Yeah, and I’ll just do somethin’ with Laine and Glen tomorrow night.”

Thank you for being so understanding about this,” I told him, and then we cuddled together as we fell asleep.
