Chapter 37 – Epcot.

We all slept in a little later on Sunday morning because I knew we’d be staying longer at Epcot this evening.  Once I got the boys up and dressed, I grabbed the list I’d made for today’s activities, folded it, and placed it in my pocket.  I then made sure the boys had all applied generous amounts of sunscreen to their bodies before we went out for breakfast.  As soon as we finished eating, we hurried over to catch the bus to our next destination.

Although I realized we could have spent multiple days at Epcot, our schedule didn’t allow us the luxury to do that, so I took them on a whirlwind tour of the various areas I thought they’d enjoy the most.  We started off in Future World and headed for a ride called Soarin’ Around the World.  Since we were among the first ones there, we didn’t have long to wait before we were watching a brief introductory film.  Once that ended, we were led to another simulation ride, but this time the seats we were riding on lifted us into the air and made the experience feel similar to hang gliding around the world.

As the scene opened, we found ourselves breaking through the cloud cover over the Alps, and then a few moments later we were swooping down toward a couple of polar bears roaming the arctic tundra.  We followed that up with soaring over sailboats on our way to the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and then we flew over elephants on our way to Mount Kilimanjaro.  We followed that up by gliding over the Great Wall of China, sailing past the pyramids in Egypt, and lazily drifting toward the Taj Mahal in India.  We then found ourselves floating over the Monument Valley in the southwest U.S., gliding over a tropical island, and soaring past Iguazu Falls in South America.  After floating above Paris and drifting past the Eiffel Tower, both of which were lit up at night, our journey came to an end.  I know the order of what we were seeing didn’t make sense, but it was a thrilling adventure with many wonderful sights.

That was really interesting and I recognized a bunch of those places,” Laine said once the ride ended.

And it was like flyin’ around without bein’ in a plane,” Caleb added.

Yes, it certainly was,” I agreed.

Where are we goin’ next?” Dakota followed.

We’re going to that building over there,” I answered while pointing in the same direction.

You mean the giant golf ball?” Jamie followed.

Actually, it’s called a geodesic sphere, and I certainly wouldn’t want to run into any guy who could play golf with a ball that big?”

Yeah, he’d be a giant,” Caleb agreed.

What are we gonna do there?” Glen asked.

We’re going on a ride called Spaceship Earth.”

What’s that like?”

You’ll see when we get there.”

Before long we were loading into four-person vehicles, each with two rows that seated two persons.  Jamie rode with me, and Caleb rode with his brother in the row behind us, while Dakota and Glen got in the next vehicle.  The ride began with us moving down a dark tunnel with tiny stars twinkling above us, and this continued until we reached the first illuminated area.  We started out in the Stone Age and then progressed through time while witnessing the lengthy history of communication, which included some of the most important advances for mankind.

It began with the creation of the earliest languages, the first attempts at writing, and the formulation of mathematical principles, along with the use of music and art as additional forms of communication.  We also witnessed the invention of important devices, which included the printing press, telegraph, radio, telephone, cinema, and television.  From there we advanced to the age of computers and space travel, which brought with it a myriad of possibilities that period unlocked.

Before the ride ended, we were instructed to use the touch screen in our vehicle to answer a few questions, and those were then used to develop a possible future for us.  We then watched a short-animated representation of what that future might look like as it appeared on the screen, and as we exited the ride Dakota came up to me and spoke.

That was sorta slow and it was really dark most of the time, but it was still kinda interesting.”

Yeah, I liked what they said my future was gonna be like,” Glen quickly added.

And I recognized most of the stuff we saw on that ride from working with the software on the computer,” Laine confessed.

I’m glad you were able to put it all together,” I confirmed.

I then explained something else to them before we went to the next area.  “That ride took us from the past and up to the present, and it even gave us a glimpse of our future, but the next ride will definitely take us into the future.  We’re going to Mission: Space next and we’ll become part of a crew heading to Mars.  There are two versions of this ride though, so I need to ask you a question.  Do you boys want to go on the original version, which is the green ride that doesn’t spin, or the orange ride that spins and they claim is more intense?”

The Orange ride!” they all screamed in response.

That’s fine with me, but I have to warn you about something first.  I hope none of you have a weak stomach or suffer from motion sickness, because they warn that the orange ride might cause some of you to experience one of those problems.  If that happens it might even cause you to vomit before the ride is over.”

Nah, we’re not gonna barf,” Glen challenged.

Do you all feel confident that it’s not going to happen?”  I followed, and then I watched as they all nodded that they did.  “Ok, but just remember to grab one of the air sickness bags if you start feeling queasy.”

They all promised they would, so we made our way there.  Before we arrived, I made sure we’d all used the restroom first, because I didn’t want any accidents due to having full bladders either.  I’d used the FastPass+ on this ride as well, so we were able to bypass the long line.  When we got to the front we were asked if we wanted the ride with spin or no spin, and we all chose spin and were handed orange launch tickets before proceeding.

Each capsule is designed for a crew of four: which includes a group commander, a pilot, a navigator, and an engineer, so we each had to fill one of those roles.  The boys told me to be the flight commander, and then Dakota became the pilot, Jamie the navigator, and Caleb the engineer in our capsule.  Glen and Laine went on with two other guests in another capsule, so I wasn’t sure which jobs they might have.

Centrifuges are used to spin the capsule around to simulate a 2.5 G- force, but since you can’t see outside of the capsule you don’t feel as if you’re actually spinning, but you do experience the G-force.  The visual displays in the capsule also helped to make us feel like we were really blasting off, because they made it appear as if we were rising up through the clouds.  We were also able to observe the earth rotating below us on another screen, and before long we were able to see that we were getting closer to the moon.  We eventually reached it and used the moon to slingshot toward Mars, and as we emerged from the dark side of the moon, we could see the tiny shape of the earth in the blackness of space behind us.

During the flight we also had to navigate past some asteroids before reaching Mars, and I wasn’t sure if this was realistic.  The asteroid belt is located between Mars and Jupiter, not Mars and Earth, so I don’t believe we should’ve encountered anything like this.  However, once we got past that obstacle we arrived at Mars and flew over the surface of the planet.  We were also required to make some very tricky maneuvers to avoid crashing, but eventually we landed on the newly constructed runway.  We almost weren’t able to stop in time and nearly plummeted into a chasm at the end of the runway, but we were able to avoid that fate.  Overall it was a successful mission and no one suffered from motion sickness, at least not in our capsule.

When the ride ended, we went to meet up with the other pair and quickly discovered that their mission had gone much the same as ours.

That was freakin’ awesome,” Laine commented, obviously trying to tame his language.  “I wouldn’t mind being an astronaut.”

Then study hard in school, especially in your math and science classes, and you just might end up doing that.”

Do astronauts get that feeling like I did?  It felt like someone was sittin’ on me when we was takin’ off?” Jamie followed.

Yes, that happens due to the amount of force it takes to break free of the earth’s gravitational pull.”

It was awesome how we got to see the moon up close and the earth when it was really small behind us,” Caleb added.

And I had a blast bein’ the pilot,” Dakota announced gleefully.

I wish I could have been the pilot,” Glen groused, “but I was the navigator.”

Yeah, we played rock, paper, scissors to see who got the different jobs,” Laine explained.  “I was the commander.”

So was Dad,” Jamie replied, “and I was the navigator and Caleb was the engineer.”

Now that the boys had shared their experiences, I took them to Club Cool next.  It’s an air-conditioned area in one of the shops that lets you try various Coca Cola products from around the world using self-serve dispensers.  We sampled all of the international flavors, and in the end we agreed that we liked two of them the best.  The first was Inca Cola from Peru, which tasted like bubblegum, and the second was Sparletta from South Africa, which is a raspberry cream soda.  We liked most of the other flavors as well, except for the Italian drink called Beverly, which we all found to be quite bitter.

From there I took them to the Test Track and we used the FastPass+ to skip the line again. This time the boys and I were led through the rigorous testing procedures that General Motors uses when it designs a new concept car, because we were designing our own car.  After we finished, we then boarded a six-passenger slot car to see how our design would handle during a high-speed drive on the test track, and I believe this quickly became one of the boys’ favorite rides.

That was a total blast,” Jamie stated once the ride ended, “but I’m glad you don’t drive that fast.”

That’s why there are speed limits on the highways, so people don’t drive that way.”

I bet you could do it on the Autobahn in Germany,” Glen countered.

Yes, that’s probably true seeing they don’t have any speed limits there, but I wouldn’t want to drive that fast with other traffic around.”

Once we finished up there, I took them to the Electric Umbrella for lunch.  Each of us ordered a sandwich or burger this time, along with fries or a salad, and then we had Red Velvet Cake for dessert.  It was all quite good and reasonably priced.

Now that our bellies were full, we headed out to tour the different pavilions at the World Showcase next.  We started out at the Mexico Pavilion, which is shaped like a Mayan pyramid, and since we had just eaten, I took them on the Grand Fiesta Tour first.   It’s a musical boat ride that features the Disney characters The Three Caballeros, and it explores the sights and sounds that represent the Mexican heritage.  It does this through the use of animatronics set up along the route, as well as traditional animation and live-action clips that are shown on the large screens scattered along the way.   It was a fun and relaxing attraction that gave our meals a chance to settle.

We also stopped to listen to the Mariachi Cobre play some traditional Mexican music, but the boys were eager to move on to the next attraction so we didn’t stay there for very long.

From there we made our way to the Norway Pavilion and the first thing we saw as we entered was the Stave Church.  It’s a large stone structure that is modeled after 13th century churches that had been constructed in Norway and it is quite lovely.  You can also go inside and investigate the exhibits that are housed there.  The boys also enjoyed seeing the cast dressed in traditional outfits called Bunad and consist of red vest, white shirts, and darks skirts or pants.

From there we went to the Frozen Ever After ride, which is another boat ride, but this one is based on the movie Frozen.  It also featured animatronics and animation and proved to be another enjoyable and relaxing ride.

That was like the other boat ride, but there was different stuff to see this time,” Jamie stated when it ended.

Yeah, but it was still fun,” Caleb chimed in.

Our next stop was at the China Pavilion, which we entered through a large, Chinese gate, and behind it stood a replica of the Temple of Heaven.  It was only half the size of the original, but when we entered it we were overwhelmed by the amazing artwork, vibrant colors, and elaborate detail in its construction.  We also got a chance to look at the Tomb Warriors, which are also located there, and they’re life-size versions of the Terracotta Army that was discovered in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.  Each one is uniquely sculpted to resemble one of the warriors in the Emperor’s army so they would be able to protect him in the afterlife.

The main attraction at this pavilion is a film titled Reflections of China.  It’s shown in an air conditioned 360-degree theater that is standing room only, and it gives you a glimpse into Chinas rich history and traditions.  It includes some incredible shots of the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, along with many other wonderful scenes from around the country.  Shortly after we emerged from seeing the film, we were happy to discover the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats were about to perform outside the Temple, so we stopped to watch them next.

The show started with several young ladies dressed in elaborately decorated costumes, one pink and the others royal blue, and they danced while whirling multi-colored banners around in each hand.  They were followed by three young men dressed in similar costumes, one in black and the other two in royal blue, and they each carried flags that they waved about and twirled around like batons.  They all joined up to perform various acrobatic stunts that included human pyramids, balancing acts, and spectacular leaps.

One of the men in royal blue came out and did a variety of routines using three to ten wooden blocks that he juggled and performed different stunts with.  When he finished, the males in black and females in pink came out and performed a separate balancing and strength routine.

Man, I couldn’t believe that some of the girls where holding up the guys when they did some of those tricks too,” Glen stated.

Yes, they’re definitely stronger than they look.”

Our next stop was at the Germany Pavilion and we started walking around and checking out the various buildings first.  It was designed like a small German village, but the structures represented different regions and periods in German history, along with a castle wall.  They were all magnificently detailed and it gave us the impression of being in an actual Bavarian town.  In the main square stood a replica of a statue showing St. George slaying a dragon, and behind it stood an impressive clock tower.  At the top of every hour a figurine of a boy and a girl would come out on the little balcony to ring the bell, and it was quite charming.

While we were walking around the pavilion, we passed a cart selling soft pretzels, so I stopped and bought one for each of us.  As we were enjoying that little treat we continued walking around, but then we stopped briefly when we came across a musical group playing traditional German songs.  The boys grew tired of this quite quickly, so we continued to look around, and that’s when we came upon a miniature village with a model train in the courtyard.  There was a path that allowed you to walk over a little viaduct above the train tracks so you could inspect the display up close.  The boys were totally fascinated watching the train travel around as it passed by the appropriately sized buildings, so we ended up spending quite a bit of time there.

Wow, this is neat and I like how they have it set up,” Jamie stated after watching it for a few minutes.

And I like the town and small buildings,” Caleb offered.  “And I like how they have little trees all around there too.”

I could play with something like this for hours,” Laine added.  “I sure wish I had something like this when I was younger.”

After spending some more time there, I took the boys to the Karamell-Kuche, a candy shop that features a variety of caramel treats.  After we looked at the different items for sale, I bought everyone a caramel apple.  I felt between that and the pretzel we had earlier it should hold the boys over so we could have a late dinner.  Shortly after we ate the caramel apples, we also stopped to have a drink.  After I bought the boys what they wanted, I decided to try a German beer and I’m glad I did.

The Italy Pavilion was next on our route, and just like the German Pavilion the architecture represented the various Italian regions, even though it was heavily tilted toward Venice and notably light on Rome.  After passing through two large columns, one dedicated to St. Mark and the other to St. Theodore, the patron saint of Venice, we entered St. Mark’s square.  There was a recreation of the Doge’s Palace on the left and St. Mark’s Campanile, or bell tower, on the right.  As we walked over the Ponte cella Paglia, a recreation of a bridge in Venice, we were able to see the brightly colored gondolas in the lagoon.

Can we ride on those?” Jamie asked.

Unfortunately we can’t.  They’re just for show.”

From there we went to see Neptune’s Fountain, which was inspired by the Trevi Fountain in Rome, and one of the shops was designed to resemble the exterior of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.  During that time, we also happened to run across Sergio, a comedian and juggler who performs several times each day.  He likes to involve the kids in the crowd in his performance and at one point he juggled five soccer balls at the same time, but otherwise it was a lackluster show.  However, I immediately knew I was in trouble when the boys spotted the Via Napoli Pizzeria e Ristorante.

Hey, let’s have pizza,” they all begged in unison.

We’ve eaten enough pizza already.”

Come on, we like pizza,” they continued.

What if I compromised with you?  I’ll order a pizza so you can each have a slice and we’ll get a drink to go with it, but we’re not eating an entire meal here.”

They accepted my offer and seemed happy with it, so we went inside and ordered.  The pizza was cooked in a large, brick, wood-fired oven and was much better than the ones we had at Pizzafari.  When we finished, we got up and left to go to the next pavilion.

I’m surprised there wasn’t a model of the Colosseum here,” Laine said as we were walking away.

Yes, I agree, and I also expected to see a replica of the Roman Forum or the ruins of Pompeii there as well.

From there we headed over to the American Pavilion and entered the colonial style, three story building.  Once inside, we began to check out the many paintings and statues that were there, along with the various inscriptions of quotes from famous Americans.  After that we listened to the acapella vocal group, Voices of Liberty, and as soon as they finished their performance, we made our way to the theater to watch The American Adventure.  It’s a half hour show that features an audio, animatronic, and visual tour through American history.

It was kind of neat to see that, cuz it helped me to better understand some of the stuff that I’d learned in school and when workin’ with the software on the computer,” Laine told me as we were leaving.

I hope the others got as much out of it as you did,” I replied.

From there we headed to the Japan Pavilion next, and the first thing we saw there was the Torii Gate which stood beside the lagoon.  It’s a replica of an identical gate near Hiroshima and these types of gates are most commonly found at the entrance to a Shinto shrine.  From there our eyes were drawn to the five-tier Buddhist style pagoda, and we headed there because we could hear Matsuriza, or traditional Taiko drummers, starting their show.  After listening to them for a while, we went to see the replica of a Japanese castle, complete with moat, but we were disappointed to discover the interior housed a large shop.  We also checked out some of the Japanese gardens before we left, but there was a lot left to see and time was passing by quickly.

Since I knew we were running short on time, we skipped the Morocco Pavilion and went to the France Pavilion instead.  When we entered it we passed by a lovely fountain and began our tour to see what else was there.  As we walked along, Laine asked a question.

Is that s’posed to be what it looks like in France?”

Yes, this is meant to resemble a typical Parisian street, and you can see the replica of the Eiffel Tower in the background, although it’s only about a tenth of the actual size.”

As we walked around, we eventually came to a building with a stone tower and a sign above it that read, L’Artisan des Glaces, so I told the boys we were going to stop there and go inside.

Why, what is this place?” Jamie asked.

They sell freshly made ice cream and sorbet, so I thought you might like some since its so hot out.”

Yeah, that sounds good,” they all basically agreed.

Once we finished our ice cream, we came out of the shop and I saw something else that I’d read about.  It was a two-man acrobatic group, Serveur Amusant, with one dressed as a chef and the other a waiter.  The waiter was the one who performed acrobatic stunts using chairs and a very large champagne bottle, and it all took place outdoors and turned out to be very entertaining.

Man, he was good,” Dakota said when it ended.

It’s got to be tough just doin’ that stuff on the ground and even harder doin’ it like he was,” Glen agreed.

Yes, and this is something you might see occurring on a street in France as well.”

Once that performance ended, I took them to see Impressions de France next, which is the main attraction there.  It’s a panoramic film that is shown in an air-conditioned theater and gives you a brief, but wonderful and breathtaking tour of France.  It was kind of sad when it came to the scenes of Notre Dame Cathedral, because it’s going to take years to restore the building after the tragic fire.

That was neat and I didn’t know there were castles in France,” Jamie stated on the way out.

And palaces too,” Laine chimed in.  “Some day I hope to go there and see some of those places.”

I hope you all get that chance to do that some day,” I concurred.

When we left the France Pavilion, we crossed over a bridge that was based on a bridge in France that runs over the Seine.  Once we got to the other side, we entered the United Kingdom Pavilion and this is where I planned to stop and have dinner.  I knew the boys all liked fish and chips, so we headed over to the Yorkshire County Fish Shop and enjoyed a very tasty and filling meal.  We followed that up with Victoria Sponge Cake that was filled with jam and buttercream, and as we ate we listened to Quickstep, a four-member acoustic group that played Celtic music.  Although it wasn’t the type of music the boys usually listened to, they still seemed to enjoy it.

Since they were so good about listening to that band, I led them over to a small bandstand where we listened to another group next, British Revolution.  This band played rock music that was made famous by several other British rock groups, and it was very entertaining.

This is a lot better than the last group, cuz they’re playin’ rock music,” Dakota stated.

Yes, I knew you’d enjoy this more.”

We stayed there for a while longer as we digested our meal, but eventually I felt it was time to lead them on a tour of the grounds.  The detail in the construction of the buildings was exquisite, and just like some of the other pavilions, the structures here represented the various regions of the U.K. and different periods in British history.  I explained much of this to the boys as we walked along so they would appreciate what they were seeing.  The gardens were also very beautiful and well manicured, and they varied from one area to the next.

So, the buildings went from Shakespeare’s house, to Henry VIII’s favorite palace, and then to Buckingham Palace where Queen Elizabeth lives?” Laine stated after seeing everything.

Yes, along with a few other structures,” I confirmed.

I didn’t think I would like seein’ stuff like that, but it was pretty neat,” Glen confessed.

I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

I was planning on taking them to the Canada Pavilion next, but it was getting dark and I knew the next attraction would be starting soon, so we wouldn’t have time to do that.  I told the boys to follow me and I led them to the World Showcase Lagoon where we watched the final show of the day, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth

This is a fireworks and laser light show that also uses pyrotechnics, searchlights, and high spraying fountains to enhance the overall presentation.  The show is meant to represent the evolution of the earth through various stages and it begins with Chaos, or the fiery creation of the earth.  This is illustrated by flames shooting up from the Inferno Barge, and then fireworks explode in the air as a large, lighted globe of the earth appears in the background.  The show then moves on to Order, or the cooling of the earth, which is represented by water shooting into the air from the fountain barges, highlighted by the use of lasers, spotlights, and even more fireworks.  The final act, Meaning, signifies our bright future and is portrayed when the globe opens up to reveal the huge unity torch as an enormous fireworks finale lights up the nighttime sky.

Wow, that was incredible,” Dakota gasped as the last of the fireworks faded into the darkness.

Yeah, it was really good,” Jamie added.

I’m sure glad I got to see it,” Caleb followed while grinning from ear-to-ear.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, because I understand this particular show will end for good in another month.”

You mean they’re not gonna do this no more?” Glen asked.

No, they’re not, but a different show will replace it and will be just as spectacular.”

At least there will still be something like this for the other people to watch,” Laine observed.

I then urged the boys to follow me as I led them to the area where we were going to catch the bus back to the resort.  It had been a long and tiring day.

It was late by the time we returned to the villa, so I urged the boys to shower quickly and then get some sleep.  I had no illusions about what the boys might do between their showers and going to sleep, because the pair with me had their plans as well.  Jamie and Caleb wanted me to wash them first, before they washed me, and then they wanted me to suck them off.

Do you want to do it here in the shower or in bed?”

In bed,” they both squealed back.

I didn’t have a problem with that, so after we’d all dried off we headed into the bedroom for a little fun.  Both boys quickly hopped on the mattress, laid down, and spread their legs to make room for me.  I just needed to ask something else before we got started.

Who’s going first this time?” I asked.

Caleb can,” Jamie quickly offered.

Yeah, do it to me,” Caleb quickly agreed.

I worked on Caleb’s scrotum first, and then I lifted his legs and attacked his butt next.  After rimming him and eliciting a few moans and giggles, I lowered his legs and attacked is penis next.  It didn’t take very long before his body shivered in delight, which let me know he’d just enjoyed his dry orgasm.

As soon as I finished with Caleb, I moved over and did the same thing to Jamie.  I attacked his scrotum first, before rimming him as well, but then I had to work on Jamie’s penis a little longer than I had Caleb’s, but eventually I earned my reward and he fired his sweet load into my mouth.  Now that both boys had been taken care of, I crawled between them, pulled each of them against my body, and we fell asleep.
