Chapter 45 – School Shopping.

I spent most of Thursday preparing to take the boys shopping the following day, so I suggested they should go riding without me while I was doing those things.  After they’d changed and put on their protective gear, I mentioned something else to them. 

“Since there are an odd number of you boys now, I suggest you do this.  Play rock, paper, scissors and the winner will ride alone this time while the other two share the remaining four-wheeler.  We’ll rotate who rides alone after this so each of you will get to ride solo at different times.” 

“That will be great,” Dakota agreed. 

“Should we play rock, paper, scissors now?” Jamie asked. 

“Yes,” I replied and they did it while I watched. 

“Damn, I always lose when we do this,” Glen complained, since he was the first one to lose. 

Dakota and Jamie then went head-to-head to see who got to ride alone, and Dakota won.   Jamie would get to ride alone the next time they went out alone, and Glen the time after that.  Now that this had been decided, I took the four-wheelers out of the garage and made sure the tanks were full before they took off.  I urged them to be careful before I sent them on their way, and once they were gone I headed up to their bedrooms to carry out my investigation. 

I checked the closets and drawers in each boy’s room to determine what other garments they might need.  I would probably only be doing the laundry on the weekend once school started, so I wanted to make sure they each had enough to wear in between.  I knew most of the items they had already, but now they were going to need other articles of clothing that were more appropriate for a school setting.  Although the district has a fairly lenient dress code, shorts would only be allowed for the first few weeks of classes, along with a few more weeks at the end of the school year.  This meant the boys would need other clothing for the rest of the time. 

Once I knew what they needed, I added those items to my list, along with the supplies the teachers had suggested the boys would require.  I wanted to make sure I got everything they needed this trip, because I didn’t want to drive into the city again until I began my Christmas shopping. 

When the boys returned, I had them strip and shake out the clothes they were wearing before taking them to the laundry room, and then they headed upstairs to shower.  Once they’d washed up, they either signed on to one of the computers or played video games on the PS4.  While they were doing those things, I started a load of laundry before fixing lunch. 

While we were eating, I filled the boys in about my plans for the next day.  “I’m going to be getting you up fairly early tomorrow to get you in the habit of waking up that early again, because classes start on Monday.  The other reason is that I’m taking you shopping tomorrow.” 

“Do we have to go?” Glen whined. 

“No, you don’t have to go – as long as you’re prepared to wear whatever I pick out for you without any complaints.”

“So we get to pick out what we want?”

“Pretty much.  I’ll tell you what items I want you to get and then you can make your choices, but I’ll have the final say as to whether your choices are acceptable.  If not, you’ll have to put the inappropriate items back and choose something else, but for the most part it’s up to you.”

“Ok, I’ll go then, cuz you’ll prob’ly pick out dorky stuff for me if I don’t do this.” 

“So you don’t think I have good taste?” 

“Yeah, you do, but you’d prob’ly pick out the dorky stuff to punish me for not going with you.” 

“You really think I’d do that?” 

“Yeah, prob’ly.” 

“Then you know me better than I thought,” I quipped before releasing an evil laugh. 

Now that this had been settled, we finished our meal and the boys headed upstairs again, and I went back to doing the laundry.  We didn’t see each other again until I called them down for dinner a few hours later. 

“So what are you gonna be buyin’ us tomorrow,” Dakota asked after we started eating. 

“School clothes and school supplies.” 

“Yeah, I know that, but what types of clothes?”

“You’re going to need more pants, and most of the boys wear jeans, although they can’t be the type with holes in them.  Slacks are also acceptable, so it’s up to you as to which you want to get.  Shirts can’t be sleeveless and must have either a short or long sleeve, and they can’t have any profane or derogatory language or images on them.  I’ll also have you pick out a jacket or hooded sweatshirt to wear when it gets cooler out, but you can’t wear them during the day at school.  Those items will have to be left in your locker, so if you think you might be cold in class, then we can either pick up some sweaters or heavier shirts for you as well.  You’ll also need a special outfit for P.E. class, but we’ll buy those for you at the sporting good store located near the school.  We can do that after classes end on either the first or second day.” 

“What kind of outfits are you talkin’ about?” Glen asked. 

“It’s just a pair of shorts and a tee-shirt, both in the school colors and with the school logo imprinted on them.” 

“Ok, that doesn’t sound too bad.”

“So how often will we have P.E.?” Dakota wanted to know. 

“Seventh and eighth graders have it on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while the fifth and sixth graders have it on Tuesday and Thursday.” 

“Do we get a gym locker too?” Jamie followed. 

“You’ll be able to use one while you’re in class, but the only students that have an assigned gym locker are those on a school team.  They are assigned the locker by their coach, but they only have use of it during the season.” 

“So we have to carry our stuff with us?” Jamie continued.

“Yes, and you can carry everything in your backpack.” 

“Won’t they stink after we have P.E. class?” Dakota asked. 

“You can take a plastic bag with you and put them in there after class.  That should help to contain the odor until I wash them.”

“Oh, ok.” 

Needless to say, dinner took longer than usual because of the amount of discussion we were having.  Once we finished, the boys helped to clear the dishes from the table, rinsed them off, and placed everything in the dishwasher before they took off.  I think they went upstairs to discuss what we’d just talked about amongst themselves, although I wasn’t certain what they might have to say. 

They came downstairs again about a half hour later and asked me to watch TV with them.  I agreed and they had me sit on the sofa so Glen and Dakota could sit on either side of me, and then Jamie got on my lap. 

“Aren’t you getting a little too big to still be doing this?” I asked.

“Maybe, but I like doin’ it.”

“Ok, then I’ll let it slide for now.”

I watched a couple of shows with them, and before we went upstairs to go to bed I had the boys go to the laundry room and grab the clothes I’d washed for them.   I’d placed a stack for each one on the folding table, and now I had them take those items up to their rooms. 

Since they’d showered earlier, after they returned from riding the four-wheelers, they didn’t have to shower again, but I did.  I hopped in the shower and was just rinsing my hair after shampooing it when I heard the shower door open.  When I opened my eyes and looked in that direction, I saw a naked Jamie and Dakota stepping inside. 

“You took a shower earlier, so you don’t have to take another one,” I reminded them. 

“But we like showerin’ with you,” Jamie replied. 

“Why do I feel that you have an ulterior motive instead?” 

“We like it when you wash us.” 

“Is that all?”

When we got to the mail, I took them to the same clothing store as before and we headed directly to the boys department.  After telling them what I wanted each one to get, I allowed them to pick out the items they wanted.  Once I approved of their selections, I sent them to the changing rooms to try those things on.  Besides getting each of them several pairs of pants and an equal number of shirts, I had each one select a jacket for when the weather started getting cooler.  As soon as we had everything, we went to check out before I led them to the next location. 

This time I took them to pick out their school supplies at a different store.  I had each of them select the items my teacher friends had suggested they would need, and once we had each of those items, I paid for all of it.  We carried the packages out to the SUV and loaded them in the back before hopping inside, and then I asked the boys a question. 

“Are you ready to have lunch before we head home, or do you want to stop at the diner on the way back?” 

“Let’s eat here,” Glen urged. 

“Yeah, I don’t wanna wait to eat until you get to the diner,” Dakota added. 

“Ok, that’s fine with me.”

I drove to a restaurant away from the business district so we wouldn’t be competing with the employees on their lunch hour, and we had a really nice meal together.  While we were eating, the boys thanked me for buying the various items for them, and then they started to ask me about what the other kids who went to the middle school were like.  I think they were a little concerned about whether they were going to fit in. 

“As you probably noticed, the school is located in a mid-size town, which means some of the kids live in town while others are bused in from the surrounding area.  This means it’s not like a city school, where all of the students live fairly close to the school, and the students vary in background, interests, and family life.  I think you’ll fit in just fine and have nothing to worry about.” 

“How will they react if they find out we’re gay?” Glen pressed. 

“Most of them probably won’t have a problem with it, but just like anywhere else there may be a few that might react to you differently because of that fact.  You’ll find out quickly who those students are and then you can simply avoid them.  They probably won’t do or say anything to you while you’re there, because the school district doesn’t tolerate anyone picking on others for any reason.” 

“Ok, that’s good to know.” 

“Do you know if there are other gay kids that go to the middle school?” 

“Yes, I know of a couple of gay boys and a handful of lesbian girls as well, and there are a few others that I suspect might be gay, but I don’t know that for sure.  Seeing you’re my sons and most of the students know who I am, I doubt if you’ll have any problems.”

“That’s good,” Jamie chimed in. 

“And I’m sure each of you will make friends quickly.”

“I hope so,” Jamie continued, “cuz I’m not in the same grade as Glen and Kota and don’t wanna be alone all the time.”   

“I’m sure you’ll make a friend or two quite soon.”

“If we make friends with some of them, will we be able to invite them to the house?” Dakota asked next. 

“Of course you can, although we live farther away from the school than most of the others.  In fact, if you invite them to stay over, such as on a Friday night, they can ride home with us and I’ll take them back the next day.” 

Once we finished eating, we got in the SUV and set out for the house.  Along the way, the boys began asking me other questions. 

“Do you go to any of the games for the high school teams?” Glen wanted to know. 

“On occasion.  Sometimes I stick around after work and eat in town so I won’t have to drive back and forth to watch them play.” 

“Which sports do you go to?” 

“I try to watch at least one game or match for each sport, so the team members know I support them.  So do you boys like going to the high school games?” 

“Yeah, cuz then we can hang out with our friends,” Glen answered. 

“So you don’t go to watch the game?” 

“Yeah, we do that too, but it’s fun hangin’ out with our friends while we’re doin’ it.”

“I see.  You’ll be getting a schedule for each season that will tell you when the games are played for each sport, so you’ll just have to let me know which ones you’re interested in going to.  Are any of you planning on playing a sport as well?” 

“Nah, I’d rather just watch,” Glen responded. 

“Me too,” Dakota followed. 

“And I’m too small to play,” Jamie added. 

“There are some sports where your size wouldn’t matter.” 

“Like what?” 

“Wrestling would be one, because everything is based on your weight class.  Soccer would be another one, as well as baseball.” 

“I never thought about doin’ any of that stuff.” 

“Just let me know if you’re interested, because I’m willing to help any way I can.”

“K.”

After they finished questioning me, the boys chatted with each other and talked about some of the things we’d discussed previously.  They expanded on those topics a bit and I think they were starting to get excited about attending the first day of classes.  They were eager to see what the other students were like and how they would fit in, and I was glad to see them reacting in such a positive manner. 

When we reached the house, I told the boys what I wanted them to do next before we got out of the SUV.  “Take your new clothes to the laundry room, because I want to wash everything before you wear it.  I also want you to take your school supplies up to your bedroom, and I suggest you put the items you think you might need on the first day into your backpacks.  I’m sure you’ll need your backpacks to carry your books around.” 

“Ok, we can do that,” they agreed. 

“Once you’ve finished doing that, you’re on your own for the rest of the day.”

“Will you go out on the four-wheelers with us?” Dakota asked next. 

“I suppose I can always do the laundry tomorrow so I can ride with you now, but if I do that it will mean we’ll be having a late dinner tonight.” 

“That’s ok.  We’ll just grab a snack when we get back to hold us over until you have dinner ready,” Glen responded. 

“So you all want to do this?” 

“Yes!” they replied in unison. 

“Ok, so go do the other things first, before you change.”

“K,” they agreed. 

The boys went to do as I asked, and while they were taking care of their school supplies I went upstairs to change as well.  Once I was ready, I headed back to the great room to wait for them, and when the boys came downstairs we were ready to go. 

“Since Dakota won the first time, Jamie will ride alone now, since he came in second.  Glen, you will ride solo the next time we go out.” 

“K,” they all confirmed. 

We then headed out to the garage and put on our helmets, goggles, and gloves, and then I took the ATVs outside.  After we filled the gas tanks, we set off on our ride. 

I took them across the yard and through the fields this time, and when we got to the last field I had Dakota and Glen switch places before we headed back.  Instead of following the same route, I led them up the hill and toward the trail that ran next to the government land, and we followed it all the way back to the house.  As soon as we returned, we parked the ATVs in front of the garage and then I had the boys take off the clothes they were wearing and shake them off before taking them to the laundry room.  I did the same thing, and then we headed upstairs to clean up. 

I wasn’t surprised when Dakota and Jamie showed up to shower with me.  “I don’t mind you doing this, but we’re not doing anything else because I have to go down and fix dinner after we’re done here.”

“Yeah, we just want you to wash us,” Jamie countered. 

“It would save time if you washed yourself, because I have a lot to do.” 

“Ok, as long as we can do it in here with you,” he agreed. 

“Yeah, that’s ok with me too,” Dakota added. 

After we finished and dried off, I dressed quickly and went downstairs to start working on dinner.  The boys only came down long enough to grab a snack, and then they headed back upstairs.  I didn’t see them again until I called them down to eat. 

After dinner we decided to watch a movie before calling it a night and heading to bed.  It had been a long day and we were all tired, so there was no sex tonight and we just went to sleep.
