Chapter
56 – Getting to Know You.
As soon as we finished our meal, I asked the boys a question. “So what do you guys want to do next?”
“I like playing the video games,” Reece replied, “cuz I’m not able to do that at home.”
“You don’t have an Xbox or PlayStation?” Jamie asked.
“Nah, I don’t got either one.”
“Ok, we can do that then,” Jamie agreed.
“Dang, I wanted to go swimmin’,” Glen groused.
“We can do that too,” I responded. “Reece, do you know how to swim?”
“Yeah, cuz I used to go to the public pool during the summer when I was younger and they gave free lessons.”
“That’s good, so did you happen to bring a swimsuit or a pair of shorts?”
“Nope, I don’t got any of those things.”
“That’s ok, because I’m sure Dakota or Glen will have something that will fit you.”
“I have a pair of shorts that will probably fit him,” Glen offered. “I don’t think he’d fit in Kota’s shorts.”
“Thank you for doing that,” I told him. “You can play games for a half hour or so and then you can change if you want to go swimming.”
“K,” they all agreed.
Once everyone finished eating, the boys took their dishes out to the kitchen and rinsed them off before putting them in the dishwasher. Reece followed behind Dakota and copied everything he did, and then they went upstairs to Jamie’s room to use the PS4. I used that time to do some more thinking about Reece’s situation and began to feel sorry for the kid. If it was as bad as I feared, we might be seeing a lot more of him from now on.
After giving the boys some time to play their video games, I went upstairs to put on my swimsuit, because I wanted to be there when Reece was in the water so I could check on his swimming ability. I’d just taken my clothes off when Reece walked into my bedroom, so I looked at him and wondered why he was there. He merely smiled and looked directly at my crotch before he spoke.
“Ummm… do you think these shorts look ok and will work for me to go swimmin’?”

After he left my bedroom, I considered what had just happened. It was definitely a little weird, but I shrugged it off. Once everyone was ready, I led them down to the pond to swim. “Yes, we do,” I agreed, “and I hope we see you here a lot.”
To my surprise, as soon as I finished speaking the boys jumped back in the pond, so I did too, and we stayed in the water for another forty minutes before we got out again. This time when we climbed onto the dock, the boys put on their flip-flops and began heading up to the house, so I followed them. When we got there, everyone grabbed their towels off the porch railing and dried off the water that hadn’t evaporated already, and we headed inside.
We went up to the bedrooms to take off our swimsuits, or in Reece’s case the shorts, and then we got dressed again. The boys stayed upstairs to play video games and they remained there until I called them down for dinner.
Once we were all sitting around the table, Reece made a comment as the other boys were filling their plates. “I didn’t know you had video games that you could play on the computers too.”
“Yes, I bought those for the boys first, and we didn’t get the PlayStation until much later.”
“Those are fun too, cuz I was playing one of them while the other boys were using the PlayStation, but I like the PlayStation better.”
“Yes, I think all the boys do.”
After we finished eating the boys decided to watch a movie, so we all went to the family room and Dakota and Reece sat in the chairs while the other two sat on the sofa with me. I didn’t think he would do it, but before long Jamie scooted onto my lap, but Reece didn’t notice this at first. He was too busy watching the TV screen at the time, but when he glanced back at us a little while later he appeared shocked.
“You let him sit on your lap?” he gasped.
“It’s not so much that I let him do it, but more that I put up with him when he does it,” I joked.
“I like sittin’ on Dad’s lap,” Jamie admitted. “Didn’t you ever do this with your dad?”

I think this told me a little more about Reece’s situation, but he turned back and began watching the movie again. When the movie ended, I asked the boys what they wanted to do next.
“I think Reece wants to play more video games, so we’re goin’ upstairs,” Dakota answered.
“Ok, but you have all day tomorrow to do that as well.”
“I know, but we’re gonna do it anyway.”
The boys continued playing games until I told them it was time to turn in, and then they went to their bedrooms. As I watched Reece follow Dakota to his room, I wondered what they were going to do tonight. Would they masturbate each other again or would Dakota talk him into trying something different? “I’ve checked the schedule and we can go to the football game next Friday, so you can see if Brady is able to spend the night.”
“Can we go even if he can’t stay over, cuz I’ll still be able to sit with him?”
“Ask him first and then we’ll talk about this later.”
He wanted a definite answer now, but I wasn’t prepared to give him one. I thought it would be best to wait and see if Brady could join us first, and then I’d decide if I wanted to take the boys to the game.
Now that I’d discussed this with Glen, it was time to focus on Reece’s situation again so I could decide how we were going to entertain him. Seeing we lived so far out, the options were limited, unless I wanted to take the boys for a lengthy ride, and I didn’t want to do that. While I was thinking about this, I made another decision and called a guy I’d dealt with before to inquire if he could do a job for me. After I told him what it was, he said he’d have to check it out first, but he thought it would be something he could do. He agreed to get in touch with me about it in a few days.
Since the phone call wasn’t meant to take care of the problem of what I was going to do with Reece, I went back to considering that situation again. I knew the boys were upstairs playing video games and Reece would most likely be satisfied with doing that for the rest of the day, but I didn’t think it would make the other boys happy. I hurriedly made a plan for something we could do after we finished lunch and I’d let them play the video games until then.
When I called the boys down to eat, I let them enjoy their meal first, and as they were finishing up I spoke. “I want all of you to stick around after we clean up from lunch, because there’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“I’ll go upstairs and play video games until you’re done then,” Reece offered.
“No, this concerns you as well, so I want you to stay down with us.”

“K, if you say so.”
As soon as we finished eating lunch and had taken care of the dishes, the boys followed me to the family room to see what was up. Jamie, Glen, and Dakota sat on the sofa, while Reece sat in one of the chairs and I sat in the other one, and then I began to speak.
“Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, but I think I’ve only had two trick-or-treaters stop by the house since I’ve lived here.”
“Yeah, cuz there’s nobody else livin’ around here and your driveway is so long,” Dakota stated.
“Precisely, and that would also make it difficult for you boys if you wanted to go trick-or-treating, because there’s really nowhere to go, unless we stay in town after school that night.”
“Nah, we’re too old to dress up and go house to house,” Glen replied.
“I wouldn’t mind doin’ that,” Jamie objected while scowling at Glen.
“So why do you want me here?” Reece asked.
“I’m just getting to that. Look, I wasn’t sure what you boys might want to do for Halloween, but I thought maybe we could have our own Halloween party the Saturday before. You could each invite one friend to join us, and I thought Dakota would want to ask Reece, so that’s why I wanted him to be here while we discussed this. I also figured Jamie would want to ask Aaron and Glen would probably ask Brady. I know Halloween is still a month away, but I felt we’d need some time to plan this.”
“Shall I ask Brady about this when I see if he can stay over?”
“You can, although we still have time to do that.”
“Hey, when can I ask Aaron to stay over then?” Jamie squawked, suddenly feeling left out.
“You’ll be able to do that soon, but we’ll discuss it later. Glen, you can ask Brady to stay over on Friday night and tell him that he can ride home with us from the game. I want you to also tell him that we’ll take him home on Saturday, since we live so far out.”
“K,” Glen responded.
“Can Reece go to the game with us again?” Dakota followed.
“Yes, I planned on him doing that.”
“Do you really wanna take me out to eat with you again?” Reece quickly countered.
“Yes, and you can stay over again, so bring what you need with you.”
“K, I will.”
“So if Reece is gonna be here again and Glen is havin’ Brady stay over too, when do I get to ask Aaron to stay over?” Jamie protested.
“Soon, but not just yet.”
“Can I tell him that we’re gonna do that sometime?”
“Yes, and he can let his parents know too, so they aren’t surprised.”
“K.”
“So what are we gonna do at the Halloween party?” Dakota followed.
“That’s what I wanted to discuss with you. I thought we could invite your friends to come home with us on Friday night, and then we’ll be doing things all day long on Saturday and well into the evening. It will be too late to take them home after we finish, so we’ll ask them to stay over on Saturday night too, and that includes Aaron too,” I added while looking at Jamie.
“Good,” he huffed.
“Yeah, that’s nice, but what kinda things will we be doin’?” Dakota pressed.
“We’ll play games during the day and I figured we could have pizza for dinner, so you can ask your friends what kind of pizzas they like. That way I can pick up some frozen pizzas on our way home on Thursday night. Also find out what else they might like to do, and I thought we could also watch a movie before we go to bed.”
“A scary one?” Glen asked.
“Yes, a scary one. There are plenty out there that are suitable for a Halloween party.”
“K, this sounds cool,” Dakota stated.
“I’m glad you approve.”
“Yeah, and thanks for includin’ me too,” Reece added. “And thanks for lettin’ me go to the football game with you next weekend too.”
“Do you think your parents will mind if you stay here again so soon?”
“Nah, they probably wouldn’t care if I came here every weekend.”
“Really?” Dakota gasped. “So you could stay here every weekend, all weekend long?”
“Yeah, cuz my parents wouldn’t mind.”
“I don’t have a problem with that either, as long as he gets his parents’ approval first. I’d like to be able to discuss this with them.”
“I don’t think they’ll want to come to school to do that.”
“What if I offer to go to your house to meet with them instead?”
“They prob’ly won’t wanna do that either, but I think I can get my mom to write you a note sayin’ it’s alright.”
“I suppose that would work as well, although I’d prefer to speak with them if possible.”
“I’ll try, but I don’t think they’ll do that.”
I wasn’t sure why they wouldn’t be willing to do this, unless Reece was the one who didn’t want me to meet them. I know we’ve had difficulty getting them in for a meeting in the past, and since he probably knows his parents best, I’ll just accept his assessment for now.
“Then I’ll at least need a note from your mom telling me that she agrees to let you spend the weekends with us.”
“K, I’ll get her to do that.”
“Can we play UNO with everyone at the party?” Jamie asked next.
“I don’t see why not, because it’s designed for two to ten players. Do you like to play UNO, Reece?”
“Don’t know. I’ve never played it before.”
“In that case, why don’t we play it now so you can see what it’s like and you can start learning the rules? Is that ok with you?”
“Yeah, I guess.”
I got the UNO deck and we sat down to play. Reece was a little uncertain about what to do at first, but after he gave Dakota a ‘Draw Four’ card and hit him with a ‘Skip’ card later, he began to enjoy it.
“This game is pretty fun,” Reece said when the game ended. Although Glen won, Reece still seemed to enjoy himself.
“We can play it again if you want, so you can get more practice at it,” I suggested.
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
“Then I wanna switch seats with you, Dad,” Dakota interjected. “That way Reece can dump on you instead of me.”
Dakota wasn’t mad and he let Reece know this too, but Reece was getting a kick out of the fact that he had gotten under Dakota’s skin. It made me wonder how he’d react when it happened to him, and I also wanted to know what they’d done last night. Had he gotten under Dakota’s skin at that time as well, but in a more physical way?
We played a second game and Reece was really getting into the idea that he could mess with whoever was sitting on either side of him, but then he discovered they could also mess with him. The boys had taken it easy on him during the first game, since he was just learning, but now they were giving him the full treatment.
“Is it as much fun now?” Glen teased when the second game ended.

When the game ended, the boys decided to go upstairs and play video games again, but Dakota hung back so he could talk to me.
“What’s up?” I asked.

“Yes, that will work as well.”
Once the show the other boys were watching ended, I had them grab their jackets and go out and get into the SUV. Once they were all buckled in, I drove Reece home and dropped him off, even though the house was dark when we arrived.
“Are you going to be all right and able to get in?” I asked.

“Yeah, me too,” Jamie followed, “but can I shower with you first?”

I looked at Dakota quickly to see how he was reacting. “Yeah, go ahead and I’ll shower with you after you’re done with them.”
“I suppose there’s more to this than just showering with me,” I said as I glanced at Jamie and then Glen.
