Running Away - Chapter Nine Oliver sat, completely in a trance as his mind processed all that had just been said to him. He did know that his feelings for his host were changing, he was just not willing to admit it. SO many thoughts ran through his head that he didn't notice as Jesse slipped in from the backdoor. "Hey!" Oliver jumped and threw the biscuit he was holding up into the air. "Oh uh, hi" He smiled awkwardly. "What's wrong? I didn't scare you that baddly did I?" Jesse chuckled putting a few bags of what looked like groceries on the countertop in the kitchen. "N-no, I was just um, thinking about a scary movie." Oliver turned away, looking into the living room. "Well, don't worry about that whatever you were thinking, I just got a great movie for us to watch tonight!" Jesse cheered, only to suddenly have his conscious yell back 'Too cocky!' He quickly corrected himself, "That is, if you want to watch a movie tonight I mean." He put his head down, pretending to be completely focused on putting away the groceries. "O-of course! I love movies." Oliver hopped up and down, his hair flopped up and down with each bounce. 'So cute...' Jesse though again. After "zoning-out" for a few seconds, Jesse came to a conclusion, he had completely ignored the fact that there were two of them, he had completely forgotten to ask if Oliver had anything he would enjoy. "Hey, uh Ollie, I keep forgetting to ask you, is there, anything that you would like to do? I mean, I know you've been dragged around, but I uh-" Jesse trailed off. "Not really, I like to swim, read, surf the web, and sleep?" Oliver smiled a little, trying hard to sound at ease. "Well, there's a little library upstairs, if you want, my father read everything from fiction to.. not fiction." He attempted to make a joke. 'Well, that joke didn't go so well...' Oliver laughed however and without thinking, gave Jesse a quick hug, and scurried upstairs. Jesse simple stood there, hand in the grocery bag, completely stunned by the gesture. He could only look on helplessly as the boy, who he now knew he loved, bounced his way upstairs. While his mind wanted to yell out 'Come back!' his mouth froze, keeping him silent. "Well, back already?" came a woman's voice. "Huh?" Jesse turned to see his maid. "You know, he's a lot cuter than... oh what's his face." She smiled and started to help put away the groceries. "Oh, stop Christina, he wasn't THAT bad." Jesse felt the need to defend his past choices. "Well, he wasn't "THAT" bad to you, but to me, oh... the headaches" She smiled teasingly as she put some peaches into the fridge. "Well, don't worry, he's gone." An awkward pause followed this as she merely nodded her response. "Actually, Chris, could I ask you something?" Jesse sat on the stool near the counter. "He's so far out of my league, what should I do?" He felt like a little kid again, talking to his nanny, lost and confused about "the world you know not of". "Oh honey, why would you say that? He seemed rather taken with you if I don't say so myself." She patted him on the back. "Now Jess, you know I think of you as my own, and you know that I'm not one of those people who are going to say whatever to make you feel better." She smiled and pushed Jesse a little prompting him to look at her intently. "Really?" Jesse asked, his eyes slightly gleaming. "Yes, for goodness sakes, that boy, uh, Oliver is it? Well he was shaking worse than you were that time you thought you had a spider on you, remember that?" They laughed a little. "But seriously Jess, all you have to do is take it slow, make yourself available, and try to get a few conversations going." She gave Jesse a quick pat on the head. "But, I always make a fool of myself whenever I talk to him my mind goes blank, throat goes dry, voice goes warbly." Jesse started listing. "Honey, you'll be fine, don't be nervous, besides, from what I saw, he's more nervous than you are." She smiled and walked off into the living room. Jesse slowly made his way upstairs and walked into the little study in the corner of the house. He gently pushed the door open and stuck his head in. Oliver sat in the niche before the window, his head resting against the glass. He was a beautiful boy, so soft, so pure, and so gentle. There was something though, that Jesse noticed, his eyes looks so sad, and so empty, and with that Jesse had gained the resolve to make sure that look never appeared again. "Hey!" He jumped into the room and hugged Oliver, pulling him into the nearby couch. They giggled together on the couch as Jesse tickled and Oliver squirmed. A few minutes later, the two were completely worn out and lay on the couch in each other's arms. "You know Ollie, there are somethings that make us sad, and there are somethings that make us happy. What I just saw was you happy, and I don't think I could ever bear to see you sad." Oliver looked into the eyes of the man who held him, and closed his eyes in acceptance. "I will try." And they hugged, falling asleep together. Oliver awoke alone in the study, a soft blanket had been draped over him, and he felt so warm inside. He got off the couch and walked around the room, gazing at the things in the room. He picked up a small photo of a little boy, about 7 who was happily running outside. "You were a cute kid" He said to no one in particular. After spending pointless minutes in the study, he walked down the stairs, quietly, sneaking into the living room. He could hear the sounds as Jesse scrambled about the kitchen, and decided to make his way there. "Heyy! You're just in time! Dinner's ready, just go into the living room okay?" Jesse ushered Oliver into the room and onto the couch. "I just got off the couch, why are we getting on another one for dinner?" Jesse only smiled and walked off, coming back with plates of food. "I hope you like sushi, I figured all I had to do was roll and cut, my hot food isnt so... edible" He chuckled slightly, putting down the plates. "I love sushi, but you don't have to feed me, I'm like a freeloader, I think I'd feel bad if I kept imposing on you." Jesse sat on the couch and hugged Oliver again. "Well, in that case how about, you..." Jesse paused and his head screamed 'JUST DO IT!' "How about you, be my.... boyfriend? Then you don't have to feel guilty." Jesse clenched his teeth together bracing for rejection. "I.. uh..." Oliver stuttered as his words began to fail him. Jesse sighed and his body slumped, "I underst-" he was cut off as Oliver came over and kissed him. _-_-_-_End Chapter Nine_-_-_-_ Thanks for reading!
