Dylan had asked me to wake him when I started my meditations. He joined me in my meditations until six thirty. Then he scampered off to check on Adam and Morgan. The three of them returned a few minutes later to wake Tim. About ten minutes before seven I dressed quickly and we all hurried down to the sparring room. I wasn't surprised to bump into Frank and Bill on the way. Bumping into Bernadette and Allison as well did surprise me. I had to agree with Bernadette you didn't get to see much broadsword practice in the world today.

“I don't hear any complaining from Tim about the ridiculously early hour.” Allison teased him as she slid an arm through his.

“The soundness of the spanking last night has me a little distracted and put things into perspective.” Tim said. “I have such a long way to go.”

“That's what I thought and look how quickly that changed.” Morgan said. “You'll be fine Tim. We all go at our own pace. This way Dylan gets to practice some more.”

“I'll be fine Tim.” Dylan assured him. “I can always call Juliet later if I need to discuss things. Remind me to check with Charles if I can relay what he told me won't you?”

“Of course.” Tim said. “Here we are. Sorry, my Love, I have no handkerchief to give you like the maidens of yore.”

“That's only fitting since you are most definitely not a maiden.” Adam said. “As fair if not fairer but your ravishment of me last night was definitely not maiden-like. I loved it.”

“Well I'll check my schedule but I think we might be able to do it again soon.” Tim said. “I think I'll send my husband back to Poland to check on Dariusz for a week. We'll send Dylan with to make certain he doesn't return early and catch us in the act.”

“Well thought out.” Bernadette said.

“Thank you Rohan inspired it.” Tim said modestly. “Yes he did come up with these travel plans Allison. How did you guess?”

“You guys would be perfect for undercover work.” Frank said. “You'd blurt out your cover and your plans right at the start. Nobody would believe any undercover agent would do that and spend hours trying to discover what you were really up to. This takes hiding in plain sight to a whole new level.”

While they chatted I'd taken off my shirt and done a little stretching. Charles had gone through his warm-up routine. Then he struck without warning or holding back. Thanks to the jarring pace of my workouts with Catherine my body was able to respond quickly. I was getting used to the movements of the healing mantra while carrying a broadsword and slipped into the pattern without thought. I used small portions of it because Charles attacked without any set pattern or rhythm. He never allowed me to get settled into a larger part of it.

The strangest part of the sparring was following Lao's advice to do nothing. Fight without being the fighter. Swing the sword you are not carrying. I guess it was deliberately nonsensical. I would have to meditate more on it before our next bout. Right now all I wanted was to keep Charles at bay. I managed through the first twenty minutes. We paused for a drink of water and to catch our breath. Charles told me the point of my sword was dropping a fraction and leading my attacks. Making a note of it I immediately set about clearing it from my conscious mind.

I managed to last almost to the end of our bout before the tip of Charles' sword caught me high on my right forearm above my other cut. Griogair calmly stepped forward with his needle already threaded. Allison looked away as he began stitching the wound but Bernadette moved closer to get a better look at proceedings. I took a long pull from the flask Charles handed me. He smiled when I told him I might make it through a bout without shedding blood before I left on Saturday. Griogair told me even if I didn't I had definitely improved a lot. The Order will have to find somebody else to tease about their broadsword technique he declared tying off his stitches. I held my arm out so Bernadette could look at his handiwork.

The boys agreed to wait with our guests while I took a quick shower. Fionola overheard and left her kitchen to tell me I had ten minutes or her oatmeal would be ruined. She told me to stop wasting time kissing her. When the boys offered to take over for me she fled back to the kitchen muttering “like father like son”. Griogair actually helped me shower because I had to keep the stitches dry and that meant extending my arm out of the shower. He had me back with the others in twelve minutes.

Nobody said a word about the extra cushion resting on a chair next to mine. Morgan was so grateful for the gesture he declared loudly somebody would be kissed for this kindness. The oatmeal was delicious. There was even green smoothies for everybody to drink. Griogair told me they hadn't forgotten the recipe. They'd seen me make too many to forget. I told him there might be a line forming outside the kitchen soon. Griogair promised to report to my room for his punishment just before lunch.

I joined Charles, Tim, Dylan, Bill and Frank after breakfast to discuss the Mr. McGoo project. Frank was pretty certain between himself and our friend in British intelligence they would be able to come up with a cover story. I told him to work with Tim and Dylan who would see about setting up what he needed. They were to get the monks wardrobe and cover story figured out. There would be a fictitious foundation with its own website. Frank suggested a small office to coördinate our various projects if we were going to get out and do more public work. This would also make it look more like a regular foundation. He was certain his contacts would be able to find a suitable building we could renovate.

“Rohan, this will be like running several undercover operations at once and they will all be for good causes.” Frank said when I asked why he was considering this work. “I'm divorced and liable to go crazy with boredom. Besides after all my undercover operations a new identity might be a good thing.”

“Tim prepare a nice business plan for the meeting of bigwigs who will have to approve this plan.” I said. “No I don't foresee any problems. The trial run in northern Poland has gone well. Stephen and Christopher carry a lot of weight so their support should carry things. They know how to play the political game better than me so I leave it to them. They give me instructions just before the meeting. I try to contain my temper and follow them as best I can. Charles and Bill we ought to leave these three to work on their plan of action. I suppose we can have some tea sent in for you guys.”

Griogair promised to take care of the tea. When I asked Charles and Bill what they'd like to do with this free time they surprised me by suggesting we go for a run. Charles asked if I needed to borrow some running clothes. Bernadette called him a spoilsport. We stopped in to fetch the boys from the forge when we returned to the yard. Adam told us he was learning a lot from Tavish. Morgan told us he was having fun with the calculations and geometry of the designs.

Adam and Morgan headed off their walks. Griogair had suggested two trails on opposite sides of the manor house. Charles was taking care of estate business. Dylan, Frank and Tim were on the Mr. McGoo project. I created a little mayhem in the kitchen baking some profiteroles and Chelsea buns with Fionola. About an hour after the walks began I had Tim send out a text to Adam and Morgan warning them tea would be served in thirty minutes. Charles took a break and joined us for tea. He told our guests they were welcome to stay another night. Bernadette and Morgan impulsively kissed him on a cheek at the same time.

The guests left the following afternoon just after lunch. Bernadette and Morgan got to take one last walk together. Charles had kindly agreed to spend some time with me and the boys in the afternoon. I told him since the Mr. McGoo project was going so well I'd like to spend some time with him. We went for a long walk together. Columba joined us for a chat with Sanne and Bram when we returned so we could wrap up the garden project. He discussed the soil with Sanne. Columba said he would take us into town early Saturday so we could pay for everything before we left. He thanked them for offering to help if they ran into any challenges. Griogair told Columba he would be able to place a Skype call for him when needed. Clifton had a little time to lead us in some chanting before he had to go to school. He was so happy I'd asked. We chanted for twenty minutes. Charles asked him to make a CD one day soon. When Alida had visited and helped him Clifton promised to make a CD.

I had no trouble getting Charles to agree it would be nice to serve his staff dinner on Friday night. There had been some protests over Charles waiting on his staff but Griogair had sided with us so the arguments subsided. Dylan told me it was very devious to wait until he had quelled the protests to let Griogair know we'd be waiting on him. Charles agreed with Dylan and said it remarkable to see such deviousness in such a nice guy. I told them I was out of patience and one protest from Griogair would have led to me spanking him.

“Now he tells you.” Adam said to Griogair. “I'll spank him later for you.”

Fionola kept an eye on us in the kitchen She'd been very impressed by the boys cooking skills and competency around the kitchen. Morgan explained they'd had plenty of professional chefs around to give them a hand. Fionola agreed I did like my food so it seemed natural I'd make friends with chefs. During one of his breaks Tim got Fionola to agree Charles looked very happy as he made pie dough and worked with Adam in assembling apple pies. I made some blackberry pies as well. The boys all teased me much to the amusement of Charles and Fionola. They laughed out loud when Tim kissed my cheek and told them I had a crush on my housekeeper.

“I care for her just like I do for Griogair.” I said as I worked on the last blackberry pie.

“No Dad it goes deeper.” Dylan said calmly.

“My Love I know this is one of those chat with Leslie things but she is an incredible lady.” Tim said. “I think it's time to arrange for all the gang to get complete physicals. I'll arrange it when we return. Adam we can arrange it between bouts of torrid lovemaking right from the comfort of the bed.”

“That's all right then.” Adam said. “We only have a week. Rohan is unlikely to extend his stay if they are traveling with Alida.”

Roast beef and roast lamb were on the menu. Charles told me he'd never understand how I could make the best mint sauce without tasting it. He approved of the beef gravy as well. I had planned on doing a house blessing and meal blessing before our dinner but it didn't seem fair to keep dinner waiting. Morgan suggested doing it between the main course and dessert. The boys went through to get everybody seated while Charles and I started setting the food on the kitchen table. Tim returned first to start taking food to the table. He told us the maids were kissing the other three. I laughed and helped carry a few dishes through.

Griogair had reminded me of the various courses to serve. I also got confused with when to serve the salad. When in Rome etc. so I planned to serve the salad with the main course. The staff wanted us to join them so there was a slight delay between the different courses. Only when we had all finished our soup did I get to start the fish. Columba liked this because it gave him time to cleanse the palette with some good whiskey. The boys manned the skillets of fish cakes while I prepared the tartar sauce. Then we all returned to the table. Dylan told Fionola they were having lots of fun cooking and eating so it was no trouble. Morgan got her to admit she was having a lovely time if she didn't think about being waited on by an earl.

Because we were in England I'd kept the spice and smoke out of the cheese sauce for the broccoli. The boys didn't mind. Nobody else seemed to object either. When I offered to make some more the staff told me there was plenty of other food. Griogair set Adam on my lap so I wouldn't go make more. When Dylan commented that Griogair learns fast I grumbled he learned too fast. Charles explained we were going to take a break for the house blessing and thanksgiving song before serving dessert if nobody objected. Once we had our plan approved I had Charles lead them all to the living room while we got the dishes cleared and packed in the dishwasher.

I settled in a nice oversized armchair with a whiskey and soda in my hand. Columba approved of this sort of religion for the boys. Griogair thought it made perfect sense to channel with a drink in hand. Fionola told them I was obviously self-taught. I smiled at the banter, went deep within and let my Lady through. Ninety minutes later I opened my eyes and sat motionless as I became aware of my surroundings.

“No I don't feel in the least bit tired Charles.” I said. “Honestly I cannot remember a word of the songs I sang but the resonance is still within me. Sorry I kept you guys from dessert for so long.”

“We're friends here so we'll forgive you if it doesn't happen again this week.” Columba said kindly. “One thing is for certain you definitely channeled somebody else. Rohan your voice could never sound that good and you sang in Gaelic without mispronouncing or stumbling over a single word. Your Gaelic is the only thing in creation worse than your singing. Are you planning on keeping us waiting for another ninety minutes?”

Trifle and chocolate Tipsy tart were the dessert options. Everybody tried them both and made me promise to leave the recipe for chocolate Tipsy tart with Fionola. I agreed the staff could help us get things squared away when we finished dessert. I was surprised to see Griogair partner Charles when we started dancing. I guessed they only did it when it was staff or family present. Tavish asked me if I'd mind singing a little more when we were sharing a nightcap. I sang for another half-hour. Charles met with a mutiny when he offered his staff the next day off.

“Begging your pardon Sir but everybody here wants to see the lads off and I want to cook them breakfast.” Fionola said bravely.

“Perhaps we could have Saturday afternoon off.” Griogair suggested. “The boys are leaving early. Fionola there are plenty of leftovers for me to heat up so Charles won't cook two consecutive days.”

“Fine. Iona just a light, quick cleaning tomorrow.” Charles said. “Fionola you can prepare some sandwiches for Griogair to toast for our lunch. I want all of you out of the house by noon. Those of you who work outside the house will set your tools down by noon as well. Columba you can unload the gardening stuff on Monday morning. They won't suffer resting in the car for a day or so. Now you boys better line up by the door because I'm sure these lovely ladies will want to kiss you thanks.”

“That includes Rohan, Charles and Tim.” Iona said. “I know you were hoping to get out of it but you cooked as well. Dylan can't take your share Rohan.”

“I have the afternoon off so I don't mind getting up early for my run.” Tavish said when he shook my hand. “Please join me. Do you mind if I join you in your morning meditations? Adam told me how kind you are to let Tim sleep in. We have to wait for some light before our run or we'll turn an ankle.”

“Griogair will know where to find me Rohan so take as long as you need. We can spar when you return.” Charles said. “You may have some extra people join you for your meditation.”

“There's nothing special to them really.” I said. “Everybody is welcome to join in.”

Everybody did join in including Tim. Griogair told me the entire staff had shown up. There were so many I decided to meditate outdoors. We held hands and stood facing the sun. The people at the end of the rows placed their hands on the shoulder of the person in front of them. I stood in the middle of the back row and let the energy of the mantras flow out from me. My Lady chose some hymns that were known to most of the staff. I urged them to join in.

When I brought the meditation to an end Fionola told the boys to join her in the kitchen and she'd make them some hot chocolate. I headed off on my run with Tavish. He picked up the pace this time so we finished sooner. A gasping Tavish thanked me for helping him set a personal best time for the run. Happy to help I told him as I headed indoors. Fionola had seen us approaching and handed me a mug of hot chocolate when I entered the kitchen. The boys told me they had packed our stuff and loaded it in the car. My bag was the only one left to load. They grumbled good-naturedly when I insisted they help me with my shower.

“You looked just fine walking to the kitchen.” Adam said. “I think that shaking in your legs might be a ruse.”

“Delayed reaction. Tavish set a personal best. He pushed me hard.” I said. “Besides you know I won't pass up the opportunity to see you boys naked.”

Charles was staying at the manor so I took a walk with him before we left. I thanked him for being so good to the boys. We returned in companionable silence holding hands. Griogair was waiting by the car to see us off. He told me next time I'd make it through a bout unscathed. On the way into town Columba complained he'd forgotten the list of stuff for the garden. Tim told him not to worry he had it all on his phone.

The kind folk at the gardening store let him use their printer to print it out for Columba who was more comfortable with pen and paper. We had completed about two-thirds of our shopping when a distracted Columba nearly ran over a pretty, slender lass with his cart.

“Columba you drive a cart just like you do a car.” the lass said with a smile. “Who are these handsome lads with you?”

“Mary this is Adam, Morgan, Dylan and Tim.” Columba said. “The not-so-handsome one is Rohan.”

“Please to meet you Mary.” Morgan said. “Judging by your lovey voice would I be correct in guessing you sing in the church choir?”

“Yes, I do.” Mary said. “If you guessed just by my voice that is very perceptive of you.”

“Your voice is lovey but we heard Columba is deeply in love with a lovely lass who sings in the church choir.” Morgan said. “Judging by his blush that must be you.”

“Yes Adam it's true that a certain lass who sings in the church choir is as smitten.” Mary said causing Columba to blush even deeper. “She's trying very hard to be proper about the courtship but it seems her patience may run out soon and overcome her sense of propriety.”

“I think it best if she let go of the propriety sooner than later.” Morgan suggested.

“Why would you urge her to be so forward? This is Scotland and we do treasure the courtship ritual.” Mary said with a smile and obviously enjoying making Columba squirm.

“Perhaps the courtship could be set aside and resumed once certain things are set straight.” Morgan continued enjoying himself just as much as Mary. “I've heard comments about her being too good for a man who mucks around in the dirt. A man who would need a month to clean up properly enough before he could go on a date with her. This good, honest man who is embarrassed by the fact his work keeps him dirty all day. A shy man who worships her so much he is afraid to touch her. Then there is the comment about having a large property to keep in order and being unable to come to town often enough.”

“Shh Morgan she dinnae need to hear all that.” Columba said urgently.

“Oh yes she did.” Mary said with her color rising. “I'll decide who I am too good for thank you very much. Good honest dirt beneath the fingernails isn't going to scare me away Columba. I am pretty certain all it will take to get you cleaned up is a good scrubbing in the bath. Shouldn't take more than an hour. I'll show you how it's done soon enough. You know I'm a bookkeeper and can do my work anywhere so moving to the country isn't a problem at all.”

“Columba does have this afternoon and tomorrow off.” Adam offered kindly. “Mary is there an inn nearby? Good. Are you almost done? Why don't we finish up and go book Columba in at the inn for a couple of nights. Our treat.”

“Consider it part of your wedding present Columba.” Dylan said.

“You can afford some new clothes can't you, Columba?” Mary asked. “Then there's no need to return to the manor. We'll get you everything you need to get cleaned up as well. That includes a good scrubbing-brush. I told you it wouldn't be long before I showed you how quickly I could get you cleaned up proper.”

“Charles is quite happy for you to keep the car for the weekend and return on Monday.” Tim said ending his call. “Monday afternoon is soon enough. He invited Mary over for dinner as well. I'll give you his phone number before we leave, Mary.”

“Thank you Tim.” Mary said. “That will give me a chance to look at my new home.”

“What about the courtship?” Columba tried. “I guess we both know where this will end. I think I need a wee drop or two.”

“Later.” Mary said. “You don't have to impress me with how much you can put away. I'll be more impressed by restraint. Now which of these plants do you boys prefer? I want it so I can remember the help you gave me. The red it is. I'm done so I can help you with the rest of your list.”

We had time to go shopping with Columba and Mary. True to their word the boys booked Columba in at the inn which was just a short walk from the station. They boys looked at a few rooms before they found one to their liking. Adam told Mary there was a large, deep bathtub in the room. She rewarded him with a kiss. There was a bar attached to the inn and the innkeeper gladly let the boys pay for a dinner for their friends. I helped the boys select a nice wine. A red and a white wine for them to choose from. Mary told us she preferred red wine so it was soon all wrapped up. We let Mary buy us lunch and see us off at the station. The boys told Columba he was lucky to be bathed by such a pretty lady and instead of complaining he'd be better served enjoying it. Surprisingly enough his protests stopped. Even Mary got taken aback.

“The boys are right.” Columba said. “I dinnae ken what you see in me lass but it's poor form to complain when the good Lord grants you what you most desire. So if it takes being scrubbed raw by you then I'll gladly pay the price. I cannae show up dirty for our dinner. Thank you boys for helping us.”

“Yes, thank you.” Mary said. “We'll send you an invitation to the wedding. You will come won't you?”

“Wouldn't miss it for anything.” Adam said. “Do you think you could extend an invitation to Bernadette? Morgan's convincing her he finds a slight limp very attractive in a lady.”

“I'll consider her Morgan's partner.” Mary said. “Now you'd better get on board your train. Tim you have my number so please send me all your contact information.”

We'd only been able to catch an afternoon train so our trip to theater and O'Mally's got put off until Sunday. The return flight to America hadn't been affected and I'd held off booking our ticket to Poland so we were able to accommodate the change. This would mean an early flight on Monday morning to Poland but I wasn't going to delay it another day or use up time that I'd planned on spending with Dariusz and Alida. We arrived in London just before eight on Saturday night.

“Let's stop in and see if Thomas is working at the local pub.” I said as we made our way to the bed and breakfast. “We can have him buy us the drink he wants and order some pizza for dinner while we are there.”

Thomas was working so that was one less thing to do on Sunday. Christopher and Garth were surprised at how long my bouts with Charles had lasted before first blood. They laughed when we told them about Mary and Columba. While we were enjoying our dinner Mary texted a picture of her and Columba enjoying their dinner. Garth said they looked an unlikely couple which boded well for their marriage. Apart from meeting Warren, Stacy and Tyrone at The Queen's Lancer before our dinner and show I have nothing planned I told Christopher.

“Good because you have morning tea with Frances.” Christopher told me. “Stan and Michael want to bake you a treat as thanks. They want you to see their jerseys. Yours have all been sent on home. Rohan you're meeting the others for lunch at two. We'll have tea at ten then return here to get dressed for dinner and Les Miserables.”

Frances and Liam greeted us at the door to their home by saying they owed us another thank you. Stan and Michael had helped them clean the house for our visit. We guessed this didn't happen very often. I told the chefs something smelled really good. While the cake cooled enough for frosting we went to see the jerseys. The boys had hung theirs at the foot of their beds. We all agreed Stan and Michael had done a good job choosing the frames. The matting was the Sunderland colors.

“You boys can go play some soccer for thirty minutes.” I said as we finished our tea. “The cake was delicious guys. I'll have another piece for you.”

Twenty-minutes later the boys returned. Stan and Michael were the only ones without a mark on them.

“The other guys didn't want to play anymore so we finished early.” Dylan said calmly while Christopher examined his cut lip. “Dad we thought they just wanted to play regular soccer but it turned into something like the Frisbee we played at the orphanage with the monks.”

“You guys played that?” Garth asked with a laugh from where he was examining Dylan's bruised cheek. “Frances it's like a free-for-all rugby scrum with a little Frisbee thrown in.”

“Once we realized how they wanted to play it didn't last long.” Adam said. “A pity. I was just getting warmed up. Dad they threw a few punches which wasn't in the Frisbee rules. No we just tripped or threw them around a bit. We didn't need to throw any punches.”

“I did.” Morgan said. “One of them was rushing Stan from behind so Stan ducked and I punched him. They split Dylan's lip so I thought it was within the rules if I split a lip or two. I'm not certain about the black-eye. Oh well I can always apologize if it was breaking the rules. I hope they will be up for another game when we next visit.”

“Me too.” Dylan said. “This has been the best tea ever.”

“Gad you had fun.” Frances said. “Sorry Rohan.”

“What for?” I said. “They boys had fun. Nobody was seriously hurt. I can hardly be upset when I have five sets of stitches in me.”

“Wow! Can we see?” Stan asked.

I took off my shirt and showed them. Liam laughed when Christopher and Garth commented on how nice a job Griogair had done. Dylan said he'd take me back soon so Griogair could keep in practice. Frances told him that was very kind of him. We all laughed when he said it didn't hurt him in the slightest. I promised we'd stay in touch through Skype. On the way to the Underground we saw some of the other team. Morgan borrowed twenty pounds from me and gave it to them. They thought he was busy sarcastic when he told them it was to thank them for making the game so much fun. I walked over and assured them it was okay. They told me they'd go get some milkshakes from a burger place down the street. Garth told me it served great burgers and shakes. He took Christopher there when they wanted a midnight snack.

“Here's another twenty for some burgers.” I said handing over some more cash. “Twenty will only cover shakes or burgers not both. My sons had a wonderful time. I'm sorry we can't join you for lunch. We'll look you up when we next visit. Your folks can call me if you need help convincing them it was good clean fun.”

Christopher gave the boy with the black eye some tips on how to treat it. He told him he could stop by a chapter house and get some of the herbs he'd mentioned. They'd show him how to treat it as well. Garth added if they got sick and needed any medicine to swing by the chapter house as well. Then Christopher was rushing us on to get ready. We really had to rush but we made it with ten minutes to spare.

“I'd hate to see what happens when you are in an unfriendly game.” Betty said to the boys. “None of your guests have arrived. We've set your table in the private area again. I hope you don't mind but we've been very busy. See that gentleman over there with the brown jacket? He's a food critic. When he arrived he told me he was only here to stop his friends from nagging him about visiting us. He told me he doesn't do pub food reviews only four and five-star places are good enough for him.”

“He seems to be doing a good job of finishing his shepherd's pie.” Garth observed.

“He hasn't said anything or stopped eating since he started.” Betty said. “We're serving him Tim's favorite beer as well.”

While we waited for our guests I wrote a short note inviting the guy back for a meal or a pint on us. I thanked him for trying our food and let him know we'd welcome his honest assessment on how we could improve. Then I asked Betty to take it over to him and have him sign his name across the seal. When his review has been published he can return to see what I've written. I just wanted him to know the letter was written and sealed today. When he glanced over at us I raised my glass.

Warren, Stacey and Tyrone arrived a few minutes after two. I suggested we play a round or two of darts while we waited for our food. Tyrone was confused when I said he could join my team with Tim. He nodded when I asked if he had a feel of where the bull is. His first dart landed up and to the right. Following my guidance he scored twenty with each of his next two darts. Stacey was as startled as Tyrone until I had her close her eyes for her throw. She didn't do nearly as good but was able to understand how it could be done.

Betty brought the food critic over to meet me. I told him he was welcome to join us if he didn't misconstrue my offer as a bribe. The critic told me he'd made his assessment of our place and had written most of his review on his phone already. When he told me this I told him I was happy to trust him to stick by what he had written. I suggested he try a different beer or two. He asked Betty to surprise him.

“This is Theodore.” I said when we joined the darts players. “He was kind enough to let his friends nag him into doing a review of our pub. Theodore has most of it written so you don't have to worry about being overly nice. Be your usual scurvy selves.”

“We discovered street soccer is very different from the polite stuff on the field.” Adam said when Theodore mentioned the bruises. “No it wasn't a fight. More of a getting to know each other. We hope to play them again when we visit.”

Stacey was speaking sharply to Tyrone so I slipped over. He was getting frustrated because he'd thrown some bad darts. I taught him how to ground himself. When he had calmed down he apologized to Stacey. Living with such a handicap isn't easy I told him but you need to stop bitching and take the help offered to you.

“This isn't charity.” I assured him. “Although we are monks we have a regular clinic which bills the national health insurance according to their guidelines and charges. You help monks learn under the tutelage of monks who are therapists, doctors and surgeons. They can all use these credentials to work in any hospital or set up a private practice. Besides you don't feel good when you treat Stacey badly.”

“No I don't feel good but I have these moments when I can't help myself.” Tyrone said.

“I do as well.” I admitted.

“That's when he either gives somebody five hundred pounds or pounds them with a heavy mace.” Tim said calmly. “I'm concerned this tendency is spreading to the boys. Theodore when we headed home after tea Morgan gave the opposing soccer players a twenty for drinks.”

“I was hoping to bribe them into playing another game.” Morgan said. “Looks like our food has arrived or that might just be Rohan's order.”

“No it's for all of you.” Colleen said. “The rest of Rohan's order will follow.”

“I'll be lucky to get it next week if you lot don't stop kissing the waitress.” I said as the boys greeted her. “Colleen don't encourage them. Pub owner starves to death in his own establishment will be the headlines. Why isn't there a law about kissing your boss like that.”

“Yes Rohan there should.” Betty agreed. “I'll bring it up at the next council meeting. Bosses need more of those kisses more often.”

“Traitorous trio giving her a high-five.” I said. “Now let's eat before our food gets cold.”

Theodore took this as his chance to depart with good grace. I offered him something to take with him but he told me he'd eaten more than enough. While I was shaking his hand I swatted Morgan's hand as he tried to filch some fries off my plate. Theodore laughed and left me to defend my plate. I went on a tickle offensive. Tyrone got caught up in some friendly fire. Adam told him he was lucky it was just a tickling barrage and not a bombardment of kisses.

When we finally finished we had an hour to pass so I asked Tyrone if he'd consider at least looking at the clinic. Warren asked if he could tag along. He was considering getting back into shape and hoped to pick up some pointers. The boys thought it would be cool to have some pretty nuns and handsome monks look at their wounds again. They promised to let Stacey know if the monks knew how effective kissing a wound better was.

“Emily we need your help.” Morgan said on the phone as he stood in the waiting room looking at the clinic. “Tim will you please show Emily what this coffin looks like on a Skype call? Christopher step outside and look at the two buildings on either side. This place is so sterile any self-respecting germ would rather die than spend anytime here. Garth no creature deserves this treatment. You have the most cozy chapter houses. I love the British pubs. Your bed and breakfast has lots of wood and comfortable chairs. Then there is this homage to sterile modernization in a place where people need to feel nurtured. Tomek could have done a better job decorating and he's only ten.”

“Maybe it is standard clinic ambiance but you don't offer anything standard.” Adam said. “You offer so much more but these people are getting gloomier with each passing minute. Anybody in need of a hug raise your right arm.”

“Raise your left arm if you'd like a kiss.” Dylan said.

“You can raise both arms if you want.” Morgan said. “Tim I'll let you help Emily. I need a hug and a kiss and I'm healthy. Thanks Emily. Sorry I was so short.”

Christopher gave Morgan a hug and a kiss and told him he was right. When Christopher promised to have this placed revamped in a couple of days Morgan asked why it would take so long when there were so many monks in the city. Garth laughed and agreed it was a redecorating project more than a rebuilding project. Paint, curtains, new furniture, some plants and pictures would make a big difference I agreed.

“Hello Emily.” I said taking the phone from Tim when he was about to hang up. “We have to do the offices individually because they are in use most of the time. I don't want you stuck with all this work so please contact a designer here in London tomorrow to finish the redecorating. Somebody who you feel can work with what you and Tomek have come up with for the public areas.”

“Rohan can we use this person as our contact on the ground?” Emily asked. “I think this would be a great opportunity for Tomek to get some practice. You just said we can't do more than a room a day and only at night so the three of us can work on it during the morning. Our London designer can buy the furniture in the afternoon. The monks can help finish the room at night.”

“Yes you can if it isn't placing too heavy a workload on any of you.” I agreed. “I'll supplement Christopher's budget if needed. Yes Christopher this applies to all the clinics although I'd appreciate it if you held some cake sales and raffles to pay for some of the shortfall.”

“We'll get some donations as well to keep your costs down.” Garth promised. “I guess you do have to think of changes on a global scale. Let's give this a test run first. We're so used to this decor in clinics we didn't notice how stark it is. We'll begin raising funds immediately. I'm excited to see the reaction. There is one room Tim can get a video of for the others to use tomorrow. Smart of Emily to use it as a test for a few designers to apply for the job.”

When we went over to where Tyrone, Stacey and Warren were chatting to two monks and a nun I was happy to hear they would be staying for a consultation. We had to leave for dinner and the theater I explained. Warren promised he'd see them back safely to their townhouse. He got free taxi rides. We all thanked them for a lovely time. They promised they'd call us to chat and keep us updated on their progress.

“Please take good care of my friends and if they need anything out-of-the-ordinary contact Christopher or Garth.” I said to the Hospitallers. “They'll arrange it and cover the cost.”

“Yes, Grand Master.” the three of them said in unison.

“Rohan. Please just call me Rohan.” I said with a sigh. “Stacey there is nothing grand or masterful about me. I have good people around to limit the damage I cause.”

Tim received some pictures of what Emily and Tomek had put together for the clinic while we were on the Underground. I saw a railway official talking sternly to a small boy who appeared to have been crying. Leaving the others to look at the pictures I headed over. The railway employee softened when I showed him my church credentials. He explained this young boy didn't have a ticket. I told the conductor I was getting off at the next stop and would buy the boy a pass if he showed me how to do it.

“What's your name?” I asked as we waited for the train to stop. “Lance. I like it. Don't worry. This man was just doing his job and because he was doing it so well you get to ride for free all year. I'm a member of a church and we do this sort of thing for people. Hard to believe but this lot of scary looking people are my friends. Can you believe they're meant to keep me out of trouble? Look at those marks from fighting.”

“Right now somebody is sporting five sets of stitches in his flesh.” Tim said with a smile.

“I at least have the decency to keep them where others can't see them.” I said. “Lance I was learning how to use a sword and my instructor is much better than me.”

“He gets into so much trouble he has to learn how to fight.” Adam said.

“Here we are Sir.” the conductor said leading me to a machine. “We'll need an address and phone number in case the young man loses his pass.”

“Use this one.” Christopher said handing over his business card.

“Thank you, Doctor.” the conductor said. “Did you want to buy the annual pass?”

“Yes, please.” I said. “One that includes the buses if possible. Thank you for all your help and kindness towards Lance. Stop in at The Queen's Lancer anytime for a pint. Tell them Rohan sent you. Now Lance why don't you tell us where you stay so we can see you safely home.”

“Nowhere.” Lance said bursting into tears. “Please don't send me back there.”

“We don't know where there is so we can't.” I said pulling him close. “That tall fellow really is a doctor so you're safe now. Garth is really good at coming up with solutions to problems people have. They've kept me in one piece which is a miracle. We are on our way to dinner. Would you like to join us? Yes you are bit dirty but I think there's a clothing store between us and the restaurant.”

“There is a department store.” Garth said. “Would you like to come with us and see a show after dinner? I own a bed and breakfast with the tall doctor fellow so we have a place for you to stay.”

Christopher surprised us by taking us down a side street before the restaurant. He told us we needed to clean Lance up and examine him. Dylan promised he'd stay with Lance and even let the doctors check him so Lance could see it was okay. A young lady opened the door and promised to call Dr. Everett while we waited. Dr. Everett didn't waste time asking questions but listened as Christopher told her what we needed. Christopher and Dr. Everett led the two boys away.

“The boy obviously doesn't want to return to where he's staying so our first thought is abuse.” Garth explained. “We'll need evidence if we are to keep him safe. Two doctors signing off on a report will prevent anybody from saying the boy got abused in our care. Morgan if there are any visible signs of abuse Christopher will take pictures. All of this is precautionary and it might be a week or longer before we know all the specifics.”

“How long can he stay with you guys?” Tim asked. “I mean legally without any adoption papers or court approval.”

“A day or two at the most.” Garth said. “More and more kids need help these days so we started an orphanage. We keep six beds open at all times for emergencies. He can stay there while we go through the legal system.”

“Dr. Everett thinks for such an old man you look really good naked.” a clean and well-dressed Lance said when they returned. The nun who had let us in burst out laughing just before the others. Morgan made it worse by showing them some of the pictures.

“Thank you.” I said. “Makes me wonder how she got to see me naked when we just met five minutes ago.”

“The pictures of you and Tim that Lawrence took.” Dylan said. “They helped Lance feel more comfortable undressing for his examination. He had good reason to hesitate. Christopher took pictures and told me the bruises are a few weeks old. Lance has been living on the streets for three weeks.”

“Letting us examine you was a big help Dylan.” Dr. Everett said. “Thank you for understanding.”

“We know a another boy who went through the same thing.” Dylan said. “I'm glad I could help. Rohan taught me how much children appreciate it. He let the doctors check him at an orphanage so the kids would be at ease. Hopefully the meal and theater will help.”

“O'Mally's and Les Miserables.” Tim said. “I called Nancy and told her we'd have one more and be thirty minutes late. Sorry to rush off.”

“That's okay. Lance deserves it.” Dr. Everett said. “Christopher we will chat more. Don't forget Lance we're having afternoon tea on Tuesday.”

Nancy didn't hesitate to include Lance in her welcome hugs and kisses. She blushed when he said she was pretty and smelled very nice. Garth showed his skill with children and managed to put together a plate of Lance's favorite foods. When Lance told Nancy he'd been on the streets for three weeks and was looking forward to a proper meal she told us he'd get all of his favorites even if it wasn't on the menu. He proudly showed her his annual rail pass. Nancy told him she was glad to know he could visit her. Tim teased him saying he had two dates with two pretty ladies this week. Morgan said Tim was jealous because he had none. Lance invited Tim to come along on his dates.

The food was amazing. I had to have seconds. Nancy was happy to pack seconds for Lance. He felt better when she put the bag next to him. Unfortunately the ice-cream will melt so we can't do seconds of dessert Nancy told him later. Adam promised we'd stop on the way home and get some ice-cream. When we were saying goodbye to Nancy she gave Christopher her phone number and told Lance if he ever needed a place to sleep he should find her here or call her. Christopher told Lance he could always use his phone to call Nancy if he needed. Nancy made Lance promise he'd find her. No more living on the streets she told him. How easy it is to forget how a simple meal can mean so much. Lance kept telling us he hadn't seen so much food in a long time. He couldn't believe it was all for him.

All of the boys had a great time in the theater. Tim enjoyed it so much he kept kissing me much to Lance's amusement. Morgan, Adam and Dylan were glad to share their etiquette knowledge with Lance. The boy learned quickly. Christopher and Garth kept a close watch on how Lance behaved and what he said. I let them watch over him while I enjoyed the show. When the show ended Garth told us to stay in our seats. A few minutes later a gentleman came and led us to the dressing rooms to meet the actors. They were happy to sign our programs. Lance told them he had been a waif and street urchin for the last three weeks. They were happy he had found a home. When we were about to leave I found out how we'd got to meet the actors.

“Please may we have your blessing Cardinal?” our escort asked.

“Let's do it on stage.” I suggested. “Then I can bless the cast and the theater.”

This got their attention and soon we were all standing on the stage. My Lady thanked me for getting her on center stage before she shared an ancient blessing for personal good health and success. Then we did a second blessing for the success of their business venture or in this case the play. I made a point of listening when she sang her song of blessing for the entire building. The acoustics made it even more spectacular than I'd imagined when I had requested we do it on the stage. Before the cast could gather themselves we thanked them and headed quickly on our way.

“Rohan this is London.” Tim said proudly. “There are always shops open. Yes I think it would be nice to have somebody else testing my cellular network. I'd need to make a few tweaks to the phone settings but I can do that tomorrow. Allow me to show you one of my favorite cellphone stores.”

Tim showed Lance how his Bluetooth earpiece would allow him to answer calls while keeping his phone safely in his pocket. Yes Tim assured him for the fifth time in three minutes it really was his phone and his Bluetooth earpiece and the protective case and the screen protector and the online music store credit from the boys and the apps Tim was buying him. I ruffled Lance's hair when he hugged me around the legs. He told me he could wait until tomorrow to talk on it when I apologized for the delay. We stopped for ice-cream just before the bed and breakfast. We all enjoyed some together. I told Lance we were leaving tomorrow so it would be best if he kept the leftover ice-cream in his room. Garth told him there was a fridge in his room. Dylan told Lance if he felt unsettled in his strange new room he could share Dylan's room. Lance didn't mind us waking them early so Dylan could make his flight.

“I trust these two men with my life and the life of my husband and the life of my sons and my son's betrothed. That's the guy he will marry who is standing over there.” I said. “When I leave tomorrow Tim will set things up so you can call any of us whenever you need us. I have to go with Dylan tomorrow. We are going to Poland to help his boyfriend.”

“Poland. Where is that? Is it far?” Lance asked.

“Dylan will show you and he'll show you some pictures of where we will stay.” I said. “Promise you won't stay up too late? I'll let Dylan decide what time.”

“Lance you will be staying in our own private space so you'll be extra safe.” Garth said. “You and Dylan will share a room. What do you say we head there now so you have time for some hot chocolate?”

“Sorry guys I got to go.” Lance said quickly taking Garth by the hand. “Do you have enough for four people or do we need to share? I don't mind sharing. I also have lots of food we can share.”

“There's enough for forty-four people.” Garth said. “Christopher likes it a lot so we keep plenty in the cupboard.”

“You guys have been so nice to me.” Lance said. “Rohan bought me new clothes and a phone as well. The phone won't work until tomorrow though. Tim has to switch it on properly. You're sure it's okay for me to stay with you? I don't want you to get into trouble.”

“We won't get into trouble.” Garth said. “Thanks guys for a lovely meal and a great show. See you at sunrise, Rohan.”

“Again? I just did that yesterday.” Tim said with a sigh. “You really need to book flights at a decent hour my Love. I need my beauty sleep.”

“You look beautiful enough.” I said leaning in to kiss him.

“See it's working.” Tim said. “I'll have to charge you for some cosmetics to compensate for my lack of sleep.”

“They're so cute.” Morgan said with a sigh. “We'll leave you to your debate. Looks like another long day. Don't worry Tim. Our flight doesn't arrive until after sunrise Tuesday morning. I think it's a whole ten or fifteen minutes after sunrise.”

“You're leaving me to look after these...these.... right, scurvy knaves.” Tim said. “I may need something stronger than cosmetics. I'm definitely sleeping through Wednesday morning. Make a note to call me when you are about to go to sleep Wednesday night my Love.”

“Text me a reminder on Tuesday.” I said kissing him. “Now what say we go downstairs and revisit the room where it all began?”

“You mean the one with the lovely shackles on the wall?” Tim said with a smile. “I don't know if I'm safe with you. That's quite a bulge in your pants and we haven't even got there.”

“In all honesty I have to say you are most definitely not safe with me.” I confessed. “I intend to have my wicked way with you once I've warmed up your ass.”

“Well what are we waiting for?” Tim asked. “Oh, I suppose we'd best leave our clothes here. Nice of you to give me a hand disrobing. That part stays attached, Scoundrel.”

“Making certain it was firmly attached.” I said between kisses. “Go ahead, Beloved. My clothes are your clothes.”

“As if they'd fit me.” Tim snorted as he undressed me. “I see your parts are very firmly attached. That's quite a compliment, Scoundrel.”

Tim agreed it felt strangely naughty to walk through the place naked even though the only other people around were Morgan and Dylan. Setting the dimmer switch to low I stood in the doorway and gave silent thanks to the space. When I brought Tim here the first time I never thought we'd be married at all. Never mind so soon.

“No regrets at all.” I said. “I still find it hard to believe it all happened so quickly. Tim you have blessed my life in so many ways. Thank you.”

“No don't thank me spank me.” Tim said leading me to the wall and sticking his arms out in front of the shackles.

I kissed him before I cuffed his wrists and spread his legs so I could cuff his ankles. He cursed how cold the wall was against his firmly attached bits. A few sharp slaps with my open hand took his mind off the cold. After a rapid-fire thirty-six blows or so with my hand I began working his ass over with a hairbrush. Tim slumped in his bonds with a smile of delight as the warmth spread across his ass. I stood close enough to kiss his neck, cheek and lips while I swatted his ass.

“Much as I'm ouch enjoying these lovey kisses shouldn't we move on?” Tim asked a good while later.

“And what would we be moving on to?” I asked still flicking my wrist and snapping the brush against his lovely curves.

“The paddle, please. That's if it's not too much trouble.” Tim said. “We could skip it and get straight to the fucking. Holy crap! That wooden paddle smarts. Ouch!”

“No need to rush.” I said. “This is a lovely way to spend some time.”

“Easier for you to say.” Tim groaned. “No, Scoundrel, not tonight. I can play super Morgan another night. Spank me and take me. Short, sweet and sore.”

Stepping to the side I got a better view of my handiwork. This allowed me to aim the paddle with greater precision as I set about creating a uniform glow across Tim's ass. Tim was no longer slumped in his bonds. He was arching and shifting his body weight from side-to-side as I worked him over. Six really firm swats delivered so quickly the felt like one long drawn-out strike ended the spanking. These six blows pushed Tim over the edge and he burst into tears on the fourth.

Leaning forward I caught his tears on my tongue before they fell from his cheek. Reaching down I guided my cock inside him. Pressing firmly would cause Tim to hurt like blazes but that was the point. Driving forward I flattened his cock against the wall. Settling in so he was pinned in place I began driving into him. Three deep thrusts alternated with three round gyrations of my hips. Three deep and three around in the other direction. And so it went on for quite some time.

When the tears stopped I stopped the circling and pounded him as quickly as I could. Tim tried to press back and free his cock but I kept it pinned. The lad was cumming until I was ready. My orgasm first. Maybe seconds before his. Maybe minutes. I hadn't decided yet. The pleasure was far too fucking intense to allow me to make that decision right now. Balls rising and cum flowing I gave in. My head was spinning as I relaxed and let my cum flow freely inside Tim. I was glad I had grabbed hold of the chains when my balls inally spat out the last of my seed. My legs were surprisingly weak.

I'd forgotten about my plan to keep Tim pinned and unable to cum. Sensing my weakness Tim had thrust his ass back. His cock sprung up and thudded against his stomach. The moment the head reached an upward point cum sprayed from his cock in a glorious arc.

“That's a little better.” Tim said so nonchalantly I burst out laughing. “You can untie me now, my Love.”

“No, you'll stay right there until I finish cleaning.” I said as I wiped the wall down.

The cleaning gave me the time I needed to regain the strength in my legs. I slung Tim over my shoulder and carried him up to the shower. We were standing waiting for the water to warm when the door opened behind us. Morgan told us they wanted to wash us as a gesture of thanks for such an incredible time. Tim told me we couldn't turn down such an offer from the cutest shower attendants in the entire country. I bowed to his wisdom. I also bowed so I could kiss our sweet attendants.

Tim helped me blow our cute attendants as they lay in bed waiting to be tucked in. Adam decided it was old age that had us confused about the difference between tucking a boy in and tucking into him. When he had regained his breath Morgan said he hoped we got the blood test results soon so they could begin to treat our gray matter deterioration. Tucking them in deteriorated into tickling some pink matter. Finally time caught up with us.

The next morning was a flurry of activity. Meditations followed by a hurried shower. A quick breakfast. Hugs and kisses all round. A startled Lance caught up in it all. A quickly snatched five minutes in Tim's arms. Off to the Underground with Dylan. A security guard dragged Gregory to safety when he saw the look on my face. Dylan thanked the security guard as we rushed past. Tickets stamped and passport checked in record time. Dylan said arriving at the last second meant no lines which was a plus.

“Thanks Dad.” Dylan said when he regained his breath.

“This is a short flight and if you're in a similar state to me we need strong doses.” I said as I sipped on my double whiskey and soda. “We'll do another before we land.”

“Good. I do need it.” Dylan said. “Lance had nightmares for most of the night until I remembered doing healing work on you. That helped. I let Garth and Christopher know. They are going to fetch some herbal stuff for him today.”

“I find it so hard to remember he is just nine.” I said with a sigh. “He's not going back to wherever he was. Dylan after what Clifton went through I'm not taking the chance with another kid. Time for Charles to put his heavy title and visits with the queen to good use. He'll mention how a visiting cardinal has expressed an interest in the case. Point out how badly it will look if such abuse of children in British orphanages made its way into the foreign press. What would the PM say if a cardinal called him? That ought to be enough to get the paperwork rushed through without a hitch.”

“Thanks Dad. I'm gad you went over and made use of your church credentials.” Dylan said kissing my cheek. “I'll just take a single this time. Falling asleep in Tracy's lap isn't a bad thing but her boyfriend is a lot bigger than me.”

“He is a tad more muscular.” I agreed with a smile as I handed over his drink. “To a full and healthy recovery for Lance.”

“For Lance.” Dylan said touching glasses.

Customs proved no problem in a country still very respectful of the church despite earlier Soviet rule.

“Must have been a small or no breakfast.” Tracy said as I approached mumbling about how little time I had. “Hello Dylan I've missed you as well. Rohan we'll have to make the most of the few hours we've got. Meet Waldemar the new weapons and conditioning monk.”

“Pleased to meet you Waldemar.” I said. “We'll chat on the drive.”

Tracy told us the first day had been enough for Brother Michael to extend their stay by another week. He had taken the monks out early to do their work around the village because I only had four hours with them today. He would have them waiting in the sparring room. I could look them over. Then we'd have lunch and go spend a couple of hours seeing what Terrence had accomplished. The chapter house was before we reached the main village they'd been working on.

“Greetings Brother Michael.” I said as we entered the sparring room. Things were bleak when Brother Michael didn't form the up to greet me. “Who do I spar with first?”

“Waldemar.” Brother Michael said. “He favors the broadsword. Would you like a war axe or heavy mace, Sir?”

“I'll take the broadsword.” I said with a smile. “Best to see if I learned anything from these.”

“Isn't the stitching pretty, Tracy?” Dylan said when I removed my shirt. “He collected one from each sparring bout.”

Brother Michael and Waldemar were the only ones present who could see that I knew how to handle the broadsword properly. Brother Michael knew how big an improvement I'd made so he paid very close attention. I barely kept my laughter inside as Waldemar attacked and I blocked his strikes effortlessly. There was none of the jarring I usually felt with the broadsword. Shrugging my shoulders I relaxed within myself. This ought to be fun I thought.

I did have fun and was smiling when Tracy offered me a drink of water during our break. This time I went on the attack. Waldemar was good. He moved smoothly and kept his body balanced through the strikes. I'd defended using the more orthodox parries when I could and kept the Tai Chi influence to a minimum. Sensing Waldemar's weariness I wanted to end it before he appeared weak in front of people who didn't understand. Swinging the sword for as long as he had done was an amazing feat of strength. This time I attacked using a pattern from the healing mandala. Confused Waldemar hesitated just a fraction too long and I grazed his ribs.

“Brother Michael tell me where these monks stand.” I said as I drank water.

“They're getting fitter. A lot fitter.” Brother Michael said. “That's the good news. The bad news is there is nobody here who can spar with you.”

“Waldemar how long have you been here?” I asked. “From what you have seen this week how long do you think it will be before somebody can spar with me?”

“They will be able to hold you off for three or maybe five minutes in six months.” Waldemar said. “A year or more if you want to make it first blood. Brother Michael is correct in saying you cannot spar with any of them now.”

“Brother Michael may I have the company of Albin now and the head of this chapter house in fifteen minutes?” I asked. “You can keep them working at their fitness.”

“Yes, Sir.” Brother Michael said.

I was ushering Dylan through the door ahead of me when I heard the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps behind me. The footsteps stopped when I heard flesh striking flesh.

“Thank you, Sister Tracy.” I said when I heard somebody groaning behind me.

“You fool.” Brother Albin said. “Tracy did you a favor. Brother Michael would have put you in hospital for weeks. The Grand Master would have put you in hospital for weeks and sent you to Siberia when you recovered.”

“He's lucky they had his back.” the monk growled.

“Be certain you do what it takes to have such people to watch your back.” I said turning around. “Waldemar let this man swing a broadsword for ten minutes without resting if he can. Brother if you can do that I will make time to face you one-on-one. Deal?”

“Deal!” the monk said taking my hand.

I chatted with Brother Albin, Tracy and Brother Michael while I showered. The villagers were very proud of their rebuilt village. Terrence had made use of every break while they cleared the flood damage to find out what ideas or complaints the locals had. He'd even asked the children what changes they'd like to see. He had discussed his plans with all of them from the old to the young before bringing them to the chapter house engineers. All of this had paid off because the newly renovated portions of the city were a source of pride for the villagers. They were out sweeping the streets without being asked. Litter was non-existent. Tracy told me she'd never seen a house kept this immaculate for so many days never mind a village or town. Kids helped look after the plants and trees throughout the village. Terrence had received a lot of help from Sanne and Bram designing community gardens. Tracy told me Sanne loved doing the design and leaving the heavy lifting to the monks or villagers.

“You have somebody who you report to don't you?” I asked the head of the chapter house when I stepped out of the change room. “That is good enough for me. I am going to trust you will be honest and upfront when you speak to him. Visit him this week so Brother Michael can go with you and tell him apart from a penance I want no other censure. Brother Michael you know me and will ensure it is a fair penance. Tracy please show Dylan around the chapter house and meet us in the dining hall at lunch.

Now Brother is there anything I can do for you as a friend and not the head guy? We all have moments of weakness but recently a monk in America came back from his stronger and richer in many ways. Brother Michael will be able to put you in touch with Brother Murray. I think it will be good for you to chat. Chat with him before you visit your Abbot.

Thanks to you we are putting together a team to inspect and help other chapter houses across Europe who have slipped a little. For this reason I am grateful that you guys slipped a little. Now we can all improve. Yes, that includes me. I am going to Katowice for a week. Think about my offer and if you need anything or just want to talk please call me. Now if you happen to have a bottle of good vodka handy I'd be happy if the three of us could seal our plan with a round or two.”

The vodka was particularly fine. A new discovery for me and one Brother Michael thought would be a lovely surprise for Tracy. Then we stopped by the dining hall to grab a hurried bowl of food. I took a second with me as we headed in to the village.

“Wow!” Dylan said as Terrence approached. “What a change. He glows and looks so healthy.”

“I didn't recognize him as the same guy we saw off to Poland either.” Tracy confessed. “I guess you're right Rohan. This isn't the same guy.”

This was even more evident when Terrence kissed Dylan and me in greeting. Then he linked arms with us and led us off to see his handiwork. He pointed out how there were borders to the roads and streets that would keep the stones in place if it flooded again. The road may be submerged for days but none of the stones would be missing when the water subsided. Terrence introduced us to a few of the villagers. A gaggle of kids gasped when Albin rattled off some Polish. I knelt with my arms open and accepted hugs and kisses from the children. Dylan got his fair share as well. Albin extended my apologies in Polish to people that we didn't have more time. Yes we would return in a few months when all the work was done. Naturally there would be a feast. Albin laughed when he translated I'd bring my pretty assistant with her not-so-pretty boyfriend back with me.

Once I'd seen the design of the new houses and heard how happy the residents were I had to kiss Terrence. Dylan told him he couldn't believe Terrence had been able to put together such a great home before he finished his schooling. Terrence told us everybody here was so eager to give him a chance to try new things. Tracy told him he still had to come up with the new things to try. She even stepped forward to kiss him as well.

“Keep up this good work and the next time I visit a kiss won't be sufficient reward.” I warned Terrence with a smile.

“We might have to up the kiss to a spanking.” Dylan agreed.

Albin and Tracy drove us back to Warsaw for our flight. Natalia and Kazimierz would fetch us from the airport. Dylan found the number of a liquor store on the way to the airport and called ahead to place an order for a case of the new vodka.

“Two bottles each for Albin, Waldemar and the head of the chapter house.” I instructed Tracy. “The rest for you and Brother Michael to share how you want if you want.”

Dylan ran in with Albin to pay. In less than two minutes they were back in the car. This time we arrived while there were still a couple of people boarding. I'm losing my touch I apologized to Dylan. No sooner had we taken off and it was time to land. Short as the flight was it had been fun to look down and watch Poland pass beneath us.

“No, Rohan, I insist you drive.” Kazimierz said handing me the keys. “I'm still adjusting to the luxury and power of this beast. Emily and Wincenty drove Alida out to Dariusz. She insists it will be better if she sleeps on the sleeper couch. We're heading straight home. Rohan of course there is a surprise for you.”

“Dad's a little miffed because we've had a lot to do and very little time to do it in.” Dylan apologized for me. “He's also concerned about Lance but he'll never admit it. Lance is a boy Dad effectively rescued from an abusive orphanage. I'll explain more later when we check in with the gang. I'm sure there will be an update from the guys in London.”

On the drive home my phone started ringing so I handed it over to Dylan.

“Hello Lance it's Dylan. My dad is driving so he asked me to answer.” Dylan said. “I was just telling our friends about you. All of us would love to hear about your day but I think it best if we wait a few minutes. Ask Tim to teach you how to use Skype while we finish our drive. That way you can see our friends and they can see you. Dad will text you when we get to the house. He'll have a surprise to share with you. I'm glad Tim got the phone turned on properly. Give him a thank you kiss for me and one from my dad.”

Despite my eagerness to get home I kept the pace sedate. Kazimierz assured me my leaking dam still had water. The dam was the talk of the town with all the locals agreeing it took a crazy American to think of building a leaking dam. Natalia reminded me I'd only been gone a week when I asked if we could help harvest some vegetables before we left. The starts had taken nicely and Franciszek was quite happy with everything. Jadzia wasn't as happy with everything going well because Franciszek had too much time on his hands. The man needs a hobby I decided. Natalia promised to chat with Jadzia about getting Franciszek set up with a hobby.

“Herbs.” Dylan suggested. “The owner from the herb shop is always in need of specific herbs and I'm sure there's a process involve in making salves or tinctures. Maybe he can set up a little workstation in the barn.”

“That sounds perfect because he will also have a herb garden to tend.” Natalia said. “Thanks Dylan. No Rohan you cannot pay for his equipment. We have some money we need to invest in a local business. We have plenty of examples to help us set this one up thanks to you.”

When we arrived a smiling Tomek rushed me. He laughed as I swung him up above my head and then lowered him for a kiss.

“Have you been good while I was gone?” I asked.

“Yes very good.” Tomek said.

“Well don't worry. Now that I'm here we can fix that.” I said setting him on my shoulders.

“Why do I find that easy to believe?” Emily said as she stepped out to greet us. “Don't worry Rohan you get to bake some pies for dessert. Sounds like you packed a whole lot into your week away. Sanne let us know about a garden project in Scotland. We all know about the redecorating project.”

“On the way home we learned he rescued a little boy.” Natalia said. “I think Dylan said he was nine. Yes close to your age Tomek. We will all meet him soon. He is making a Skype call once Rohan sends him a text.”

“Dylan please send the text for me while I get us all some beer.” I said. “Here you are Tomek. I know it's hard but you must wait so we can all take the first sip together.”

Emily was showing me what she'd cooked for dinner. The vegetables and sides smelled delicious. Natalia had led me outside to check on the meat when the Skype call came in. Wincenty called us back in.

“Lance made the call all by himself.” Tim assured me. “He's been very brave today and spoken to some people about who hurt him.”

“Garth tells me it will help stop them hurting the other kids who didn't run away.” Lance said. “A tall man promised to visit tomorrow and bring a very big sword with him.”

“Rohan that's why we waited for you to leave before we started all of this in motion.” Christopher said. “There was nobody available Sunday night for us to call. I thought it might be good for Lance to spend a few days in Scotland. Once Charles heard the details he wanted to visit and have words with the orphanage staff. Griogair wasn't any help. He wanted to pack his mace.”

“Having Charles on a Skype call proved very beneficial when the social workers arrived to interview Lance.” Garth said. “They recognized him right away. The police got dispatched before they'd even spoken to Lance. They didn't even take time to look at the pictures Christopher took. During the interview we got a call about other kids with bruises so it lent a lot of weight to what Lance told them. I'm not certain what will happen but the children will be safe.”

“I offered the services of some of our doctors and interns to replace the current staff.” Christopher said. “I have them on stand-by and expect a call any minute now. Charles and Griogair have gone quiet. This is the most worrisome part of all that's happened. Garth and I haven't decided if Rohan or Charles is more dangerous when they go suddenly quiet. Yes Rohan we know we can spend a lot of your money on clothes for Lance and get Lawrence to outfit him properly. Once we find out what's happening at the orphanage we'll give Lawrence a call. Maybe you can offer a solution about how to get Lance up to the manor. I'm loathe to put him on a train by himself while he is still recovering. We'll have plenty to do here with the other kids so we can't go.”

“Nancy.” Dylan suggested. “Ask her if they can make their date a train ride. I'm certain she must get a day or two off work. Charles won't mind her visiting for a night.”

“Good idea Dylan.” Christopher said. “I'll get in touch with her tonight.”

“I helped say goodbye to the visitors this morning.” Lance said. “The pretty lady at the desk even let me take their keys and hang them up on hooks. She told me make certain the number on the key matched the one by the hook.”

“He got them all on the right hook.” Morgan said. “Christopher offered him a job when Leanne retires.”

“I think I'll steal him away and have him work at my place.” Tim said. “My Love I know we never looked at the two places. There wasn't time.”

“We have to come back for a ceremony at the Polish village up north.” I said. “Tim please work with Tracy to fit in a visit to these two sites or any new ones that come up.”

“You might be able to convince me to make it part of your relaxing post-Poland adventure. I might need a lot of convincing considering all you did this week.” Leslie said. “We've just been chatting with Tracy. Your housekeeper wanted a report before we joined the chat.”

“Never mind convincing Leslie how can I send you off when you keep getting stabbed?” my housekeeper asked. “Dylan are you taking good care of the wounds. Yes the doctors are here. I made certain to have both of them on hand.”

“Nice stitching.” Dr. Deidre said as I held my arm close to the camera. The cut on my ribs was almost completely healed. “Make certain he keeps applying the salve. They look like shallow cuts. Charles is very skilled with that sword of his. I agree with Rohan. We couldn't expect much better.”

“As long as they heal before you return I won't mind you running off again to help Tim with his business.” my housekeeper said. “Are you getting enough to eat? Dylan is he wearing his sweaters? Apart from his naked jog through a Scottish blizzard. What Scottish blizzard Tim?”

“Notice how Rohan going for a naked jog doesn't merit a comment.” Emily said with a smile.

“A pity the light was too bad for pictures.” Dr. Deidre said.

“True Tim does think fifty is bitterly cold.” my housekeeper conceded. “Stop scaring me Tim.”

“I'm glad Rohan is getting his workouts in.” Catherine said. “Naked or clothed I don't mind unless it's at my gym.”

“Lance the man who will be helping you get some clothes owns an orphanage.” my housekeeper said. “Lawrence takes very good care of the children in his orphanage. I'm sure if you need one he'll find a bed for you.”

“There are lots of bed here for you and in Poland as well.” Amanda added. “You'll be just fine. Thank you for being brave enough to help the other kids.”

“Let me know if Christopher or Garth stop spoiling you and I'll have strong words with them.” my housekeeper said.

“They've been kind.” Lance said quickly. “We had hot chocolate last night and at breakfast and at lunch today. I think they also want us to have dinner before my friends leave. I'll miss them.”

“We'll miss you as well.” Morgan said. “Now you know how to use Skype we can still see each other. Tomek also knows how to use Skype. He's a year or two older than you.”

“I have lots of schoolwork but it would be very nice if I could be your friend.” Tomek said. “Maybe if we learned together we could help each other with our schoolwork. Rohan got me a tutor from the church. Would you like me to ask him to get you one as well?”

“Let Lance enjoy his holiday with Charles and we'll see about his schooling.” I said. “Yes Tomek if he wants one I'll arrange for a tutor for Lance.”

“Before you boys rush off for dinner and your flight help me choose a decorator.” Emily said. “Tim I'm sending over some files of their designs and what I put together with Tomek for the waiting room and outside of the clinic.”

“Are those real beams?” Morgan asked as we looked at the pictures.

“No it is hollow on the inside. We just want to create an illusion. The wood on the outside makes it more realistic.” Emily said. “This way we don't need a building permit. Adam you're right we will need to extend it through the walls for realism but that's just a simple cut-out. The brackets to hold it in place will be hidden in the hollow section inside.”

The entire gang finally chose design number three as being closest to how Emily and Tomek had decorated the office. Emily agreed they could use the design submitted for one of the other offices. I told Christopher and Garth it was their decision. This was in their area of control and I wasn't going to interfere. They could say no to the project.

“I might have had my reservations but seeing how it looks now I understand what Morgan meant.” Christopher said. “The small play area for kids in wonderful even if we have to keep wiping toys and furniture down with an antibacterial cloth.”

“No reservations on my part.” Garth said. “Emily we will be busy with the orphanage tonight so if you could send us a plan of action to work with tomorrow that would be good. Yes we'd love to meet the designer. She will most likely know some good places to go for the furniture. Now it's time to feed this lot and get them on the plane back to you guys.”

“Adam it's not that we want to get rid of you.” Christopher said. “What we want to do is send you on your way before we decide to keep you all here for good. Everybody here has really missed Tim.”

“You boys can tell me the story behind your bruises over breakfast.” my housekeeper told them. “I swear you are getting more and more like Rohan with each passing minute. Don't think I didn't notice your split lip Dylan. I'll hear what happened before I scold you. All I did was accept a simple housekeeping job.”

“There's nothing simple about love.” Sophie said. “Apply a little salve to your lip when you take care of your dad Dylan. I know you want to spend time with Dariusz but I'd appreciate a call from you soon. We've both missed you.”

“Mom if I'm not too tired I'll call you after dinner.” Dylan said. “Love you. All of you. Looking forward to being back home.”

“We won't keep him up too long Sophie.” Emily said. “I just wanted to sneak in and cook for Rohan. There's nothing better than serving a master chef ordinary food and watching him be polite and eat it.”

“Lance will tell you there is nothing ordinary about food.” I said with a smile. “Now I'm off to do a little baking. Have a safe trip guys. Send us a text when you've landed.”

“This will be our secret.” I said standing a book on the table in front of Tomek's plate and placing a mug of beer behind it.

“I think that would have worked better if Emily wasn't behind us.” Tomek suggested.

“Let's call this an experiment then.” I suggested. “We'll get it right the next time. Make a note we must wait until Emily is sitting in a chair in front of us. I guess we don't need the book anymore.”

“Thanks for trying.” Tomek said.

“No problem.” I said. “We're buddies.”

The rest of dinner went along without further mishap. The roast meats were wonderful. I caught up on what Emily had worked on. The straw bale around the barn was complete and it blended in very nicely with the other buildings. Franciszek was very happy with the way everything was coming together. Wincenty warned he might even kiss me he was so proud. Natalia told us she wouldn't be surprised to see him sweeping the yard.

“Go send Dariusz a text and see when you guys can have a quick chat Dylan.” I said as he brought dishes into the kitchen. “You can chat longer after you've spoken to your mom.”

“He says we could chat now but I told him we are having dessert first.” Dylan said when he returned from the living room. “Dad that would be very rude.”

“Normally it would be but we are family and we understand.” Emily said kissing his cheek. “Take your pie and go to the bedroom.”

“Don't forget this.” I said holding out a half-pint as he walked past the bar. “You're welcome. I want you back to say goodnight to our guests though.”

Emily had to rescue Tomek's pie several times he was laughing so hard at Foghorn Leghorn. Eventually she just set it on the coffee table out of his reach. I stopped the cartoons when I noticed a Skype call alert from Garth. He told us the Order doctors, therapists and interns were on their way to the orphanage. The staff had all been suspended until the authorities completed their investigation. I wasn't surprised to hear there were staff who were genuinely shocked and didn't know what was going on. Unfortunately they suffered the most.

“Yes Rohan we thought you'd want somebody to go over and call on them.” Christopher said. “I found out from the police who were the most shocked and we'll start with them but all the staff will receive a visit. We'll send them over with some cake at tea time. Seeing who accepts the help will prove very revealing.”

“Nancy is going to spend a few days with Lance at the manor.” Garth said. “She said the last thing he needs is to feel we are passing him off to somebody else. Nancy usually has Thursday and Friday off but is getting somebody to cover Wednesday and her weekend shifts as well. Rohan she refused our offer to cover her lost earnings for the weekend. She's going to take Lance shopping. We'll send her off with one of the business debit cards to pay for the clothing. I've let the bank know to add her to the list of authorized users. Good idea. I'll make certain she takes it with her to Scotland.

We've explained for legal reasons she will need to have a background check done by the police. Our friend from British Intelligence has already got it started and will deliver it to the local police station. Nancy will show up at the station and fill out the paperwork. He'll attach it to his report and hand it to the station commander. The station commander will read it and sign it. All ready within fifteen minutes of her arriving. I told Nancy this would allow Lance to visit her more regularly because social services will insist on one.”

“Griogair was so excited when Mary joined them for dinner tonight he gave Columba a congratulatory kiss.” Christopher said. “He gave Mary two. Guess who's officiating at their wedding? Charles knows you won't charge so they'll give a little something to the Order. He also asked me to thank you for the publicity the foundation is getting in Sunderland. You are a celebrity in Sunderland. Tim is so excited about the luncheon with the mayor. Griogair tells us Charles is also complaining about too much publicity. There are requests for interviews from several papers.”

“I wonder if Mr. McGoo wants a husband.” I said. “Maybe I can find a moor to hide on.”

“Christopher and I will help.” Garth promised. “Rohan even if you don't enjoy the limelight you won't turn down the opportunity to raise awareness about what caregivers go through. Us Brits love helping our neighbors even if it's just with baked treats or going to the store for them. I'll help keep the articles focused on the caregiver and what they go through. Charles will also be at the luncheon with the mayor.”

“I'm not doing a parade.” I said adamantly. “Natalia this is Sunderland so if they hear the town drinking champion and an earl are visiting they'll treat it like a visit from the royal household. By the time it comes around I'll have found a way to enjoy it. Emily that won't stop me from grousing now. Thankfully I have my restaurant work and homeless period to share when they ask what about my life since Samuel passed on.

Sorry for all the extra work I've given you guys. When you can please go away for a holiday at my expense. Yes I'll settle for something as small as a weekend away. I dumped this orphanage and the physical fitness thing in your laps. All of this on top of your regular stuff. I'll try to do better on my next visit.”

“Rohan we love it when you visit because we always end up with stuff to do.” Garth said. “Things get pretty boring around here and we end up trying to come up with a plausible excuse to get you to visit. Now your influence has rubbed off on Morgan and he added the clinics to our workload. We'll be sending him a tawes or paddle as a thank you gift. Then there is the romantic weekend I get to spend with Christopher. I for one am very grateful you visited. We'll check in again on Wednesday afternoon.”

“You can fill us in on your visit to the chapter house on Wednesday.” Christopher said. “You need to relax tonight and spend tomorrow with Dariusz and Alida. Lance wants to say goodnight.”

“Garth tells me you drink lots of herbs in your tea as well.” Lance said over his mug. “Do they also taste bad?”

“Very, very bad. I add some vanilla honey.” I said. “They do help me a lot so I don't mind the nasty taste. Dylan drinks herbal teas as well.”

“Yes I do.” Dylan said entering the room. “I'm glad you have them to help you sleep tonight.”

“Goodnight everybody.” Lance said. “Thank you for being my friend.”

“Good night, Lance.” I said. “Thank you for being our friend.”

“Good night.” the others said.

“Mom asked me to call back in an hour.” Dylan said settling down on my lap. “Oh, my favorite cartoon.”

“Mine to.” Tomek said giving Dylan a high-five.

Forty-five minutes later Emily said it was time for them to leave so Dylan could say goodbye and chat with his mom. I thanked them for preparing dinner and for the great job they did on the decorating project. Emily and Kazimierz told me they were free Thursday at ten. All I would tell them was to keep a couple of hours open. Dylan suggested they join us for breakfast. I was going to make eggs Benedict he told them. Emily promised to bring some fresh ham from the meat shop. She promised to let them know I'd visit on Thursday afternoon.

While Dylan chatted with his mom and J in the living room I sat down to do some meditation in my bedroom. When he finished his call Dylan came through and lifted my arm over him so he could lean in against me. We meditated for a while longer. He still had some catching up to do with his mom and J but thought it would be nice if he did it with Dariusz so they could all be updated. There was no need to ask if he wanted to join me for the sunrise meditations at the chapter house.

“This is the first time in some time I'm alone with you and there is a lovely big bed just a few feet from us.” I said kissing him. “I think it is time to bring this meditation to an end and bury my cock in your ass.”

“My lovingly spanked ass.” Dylan corrected. “Yes Scoundrel I know it will need some extra work on your part. What if I promised to blow you in our morning shower? Eek!”

“Does this answer your question?” I said pulling him over my folded legs and swatting his ass with my left hand.

“Very nicely answered. Ouch! Ow!” Dylan said. “Damn that hurts and I've still got jeans on.”

“They'll come off soon enough.” I said keeping up the spanking for several more minutes.

Dylan lay on the bed and looked up at me as I pulled his pants off. Then I pushed his T-shirt up and over his head. I tossed my clothes at him as I removed each item. Dylan laughed and threw them to the floor on top of his clothing. His ass had a nice red glow. I lifted him up and tucked him beneath my left arm. Standing at the foot of the bed I swatted his bum for a little while longer.

We fucked in one of the oversized armchairs. I promised Dylan the bed would still be there tomorrow. The sweet boy obligingly knelt over my throbbing hard-on and lowered himself on to me. Reaching around him I played with his right nipple while my left hand fondled his cock and balls.

“I love this position.” Dylan said as he slid up and down. “We should fuck like this more often.”

“Yes, we should.” I said. “Obviously it's entirely your fault we don't. I'll give you a spanking to jog your memory.”

“Dad you just spanked me.” Dylan reminded me.

“Well you deserved it.” I said. “Now quit with the chatter and get me off. You scurvy knaves complain about me taking my time. Mush!”

The boy did pick up the pace. I sunk deeper into the chair and relaxed into the incredible sensations. My hands roamed his lovely body while I let thoughts of my love for him fill me. Even though my awareness wasn't focused on the pleasure where our flesh met my body still responded. I let go of any need to control the physical act. All that mattered to me was being in the chair making love to my son. Watching his body as we fucked. The smoothness of his back and the curves of his ass. Those wonderful soft sounds of pleasure he was making.

Alternating between rolling his cock and balls in my hand and stroking his cock I brought him to the very edge of his orgasm a few minutes before I was ready. Dylan cursed a little through the edging but I didn't mind. Later I would spank him for such language. Right now I was having too much fun groping and fucking him. When I started pumping cum into him Dylan leaned back and let me jerk him through his orgasm. Peering over his shoulder I watch cum stream from his cock and coat his torso.

“You're so beautiful.” I whispered in awe. “You're so very good to an old pervert like me. I think the Order should make you boys saints for your service.”

“Hmm.” Dylan said also looking down at the mess on his body. “I'll be Saint Fuck. Shall we make your lips and tongue the first to clean the holy body of Saint Fuck? How fitting it is a cardinal that performs such a service. Then you may bathe this holy personage.”

“Thank you O' Illustrious Master.” I said as I carried him to the shower. “May I kiss the lips from which such kind decrees spring forth?”

“You may.” Dylan said.

We chuckled about Griogair's insistence on stitching my cuts as Dylan applied the salve. Dylan told me he'd had a great time up at the manor. Some of that was thanks to an hour spent kissing and fondling a maid. I told him not to forget condoms when it went further with the maids. Even though I told him I might wake up earlier than necessary Dylan insisted I wake him.

My son kept his promise to blow me in the shower. We'd made some crumpets to take with us to the chapter house. There's really not much point in sitting around the house when we could have some fun waking the monks and nuns early with crumpets. The kitchen staff preparing breakfast got theirs first. Then we set a paper plate outside each door. I stood at the foot of the stairs and waited for Dylan to confirm every room had some crumpets outside it. My Lady told me she could give my voice a little boost. A big boost was no trouble either.

“Crumpets! Lovely fresh crumpets!” I bellowed in front of a grinning Dylan. “Get your crumpets while they're still hot! Thirty minutes until sunrise. I want every one of you sorry excuse for a monk or a nun in the chapel on time! Up and at 'em! I don't hear doors opening. Those crumpets are getting cold.”

“Damn fool of a heavy mace swinger!” somebody who could only be Maciej muttered loudly. “A light mace swinger would have put them on the table next to my bed so I didn't have to get up. Now I have to get cold just like the crumpets.”

Dylan and I laughed as we heard the door slam. Other monks and nuns laughed as well. A few peered over the railing and called down a thank you. We smiled and waved before heading across to wake Dariusz.

“Crumpets! Lovely fresh crumpets! A quarter each!” I bellowed outside the door. “You must be Alida.”

“Yes and you can only be Rohan.” the surprisingly young-looking lady said with a smile. “Do come in. I can't imagine how Dariusz slept through that noise.”

“I'm glad he did.” Dylan said. “Pleased to meet you Alida. I'm Dylan. Dad it won't take me long to wake him. I'll be done before you finish brewing the coffee.”

“Dylan! What time is it? Did I oversleep?” we heard Dariusz say in surprise a few minutes later. “I don't think we have time. We have a guest.”

“Good morning Dariusz. Allow me.” I said heading down the passage to close the bedroom door. “Twenty-minutes until morning service in the chapel. Make it quick.”

The boys did make it quick. Quick enough to get in a cup of coffee before we headed over to the church. I let my Lady start singing as I walked to the front of the chapel. A song of welcome and of the joy of returning home. Then she switched to some hymns so the choir could join in. My sermon was about allowing children greater responsibility while remembering they were still children. People in need of guidance and protection. The monks and nuns laughed when I finished by saying I'd appreciate it if they emailed me their thoughts because I hadn't figured out the balance yet. A couple of Gregorian chants ended the service.

I hugged Maciej and Jozef. Dylan hugged and kissed them. The impudent boy asked Maciej if he had a couple of hours to spare tomorrow afternoon for sparring with me. Maciej told him he would arrange things so we could spar from two until four. Dylan told him that worked very nicely with his schedule and thanked Maciej with a kiss. He promised Maciej he'd add it to my calendar.

“So the head of the Order gives a sermon that ends with him admitting his failing and allows his son to set up a sparring bout.” Alida said wrapping an arm around me. “This after you have gotten up early enough to make and deliver crumpets for everybody.”

“Couldn't have done it without Dylan's help.” I said. “Thank you, I'm glad you liked the channeling this morning. I've set aside the entire day here. Hopefully a pretty lady like you won't mind if I foist myself upon you for dinner.”

“Are you going to cook it for us?” Alida asked. “Then I don't mind in the least. Sanne has told me all about the wonderful meals you prepare. She also told me to expect your antics like the one this morning.”

The monks and nuns at our table laughed loudly when Dylan shared the lots and more comment Fionola had made. The laughter spread as the story got relayed to the other tables. Maciej almost fell off his chair he was laughing so hard. Dariusz agreed I didn't spank Dylan nearly enough. Alida laughed when Dylan agreed with us as well. The head of the chapter house told me he usually meditated for thirty-minutes after breakfast when I asked for a meeting. Maciej told me this delay would still leave him with an hour before they left for the garden. Jozef agreed to join us as well.

Right after breakfast I went back to Dariusz' home and began spicing the pork shoulder I'd brought with us. Alida and Dariusz told me they intended to work together for a couple of hours. I told them that would be perfect because it would allow me to have my meeting and get the meat cooking. Dylan decided he'd hang out here and wander around the monastery while we did our thing.

I waited outside the office with Maciej and Josef while Donat finished his meditation. Donat assured me everything was just fine at the chapter house.

“Then why was the building so cold when I arrived this morning?” I asked calmly. “Your office is colder than I would like. Jozef is this what you believe to be a comfortable temperature? Wouldn't you rather have it warmer Donat?”

“We're having problems with our furnace.” Donat admitted.

“What sort of problems?” I asked.

“Actually it is only one problem.” Maciej said. “The furnace doesn't work.”

“Let me guess that you requested funds for a new one and got told the budget was tight or didn't exist.” I said. “I ran into this in America. Excuse me while I make two phone calls. Good morning Christopher I need you to freeze all the bank accounts for the Order in Poland. The same thing that happened in America. I have to speak to Eliasz after we're done and will find the name of a reputable accounting firm to conduct an audit. Can you ask Stephen to trace the correspondence our embezzlers in America had with chapter houses outside America? No need to trouble him this early. Depending on the scale set up a group to work under Tim and William in finding what they were up to.”

Before I spoke to Eliasz I asked Donat if he wouldn't mind fielding calls so I could work with Dariusz and Alida without being disturbed. When I explained the situation to Eliasz he offered to call the accounting firm on my behalf. I wanted it kept confidential. I wanted every account scrutinized. I wanted them to call Donat if they met with resistance the moment they met with resistance. I wanted the guy heading the audit to call Christopher within the next three minutes if not sooner.

“The firm I am calling works on government projects so they understand the need for diplomacy and discretion.” Eliasz said. “They also have branches throughout Europe in case this is more widespread. Anything else you need Rohan?”

“Yes I need a furnace.” I said. “A big one. And I needed it...”

“Yesterday.” Eliasz finished. “We'll need more details. Yes they can call Donat in five minutes.”

Jozef returned with one of the maintenance monks to speak to our heating experts.

“Please put the call on speakerphone.” I said when they were just about to finish their chat. “Halo, I am Rohan. Eliasz gave you the details to cover the cost. Our maintenance man will go measure the space and call you back in a few minutes. I know nothing about furnaces so I am going to ask you is the one he chose the very best and most efficient. Yes I thought he might choose a good one but not the best to save me money. What is the very best and most efficient model? I want one that can turn this entire building into a sauna.

Now is there anything we can add to help reduce the cost of operating it? Do you sell solar panels? You can start loading that furnace now if you have men available. Does the delivery guy know enough to work out how to convert the chapter house to solar panels? Yes entirely to solar panels. I want you to hold that card as security. My accountant will call you from America to let you know how he wants to settle the bill. Because of the time difference it will be this afternoon.

The monks here will gladly help where they can. Eliasz recommended you so I will trust the price you set is fair. All I ask is you promise to install only the very best and most efficient products no matter what the monks say. You do have a furnace in stock and can get it here soon? Good. I'm freezing which makes me irritable. I will be here all day and me being cold all day isn't good for anybody. Really you can do a full inspection to see what else we can do to improve our heating and cooling? Good. Please work with our maintenance guy. I will be sitting down with him this afternoon or tonight to hear what your man has to say. Oh, you're coming along. Please stay for lunch so we can chat. I'll pay your for your time.”

Jozef left with our maintenance man to help get things moving. Maciej told me the monks would be very eager to help if it meant being warm and having hot showers again. Donat told me the maintenance monk was no doubt of being treated to a shot of medicinal vodka even while he was taking the measurements of the furnace space. The monks were gradually handing over some of their workload to locals in need of jobs. They remained on as unpaid supervisors and called in every couple of days to check on things. Donat told me there was no loss of revenue because the farmers were making donations to the Order anyway and were continuing to make them. Maciej told me they were giving freely. Nobody had asked. The farmers know they get a tax break for their donations and look at it as cheap insurance Donat explained. They have access to our knowledge, skills and labor force at a price they get to set. I told Donat this was the sort of interaction I had wanted to create. Maciej warned Donat he was in danger of being promoted as well. Donat poured us a shot of vodka in response to that comment.

When Jozef returned he reassured me the larger, more efficient and costlier furnace would fit. The furnace was already on its way to us. He asked if we had finished our meeting because it was time for them to head to the farm. I told him he could take Maciej but I wasn't done with him. Maciej took a second shot of vodka before heading out the door. Jozef told me Dylan was in the furnace room if I was looking for him. Donat said he would take me there.

Every available monk was helping to get the furnace room ready just as Maciej had predicted. Dylan was helping clear items out the way while some monks worked on freeing the broken furnace. I was glad to see there was a large double door at the back of the furnace room so it wouldn't be difficult to remove the furnace. Donat assured me it was okay for me and Dylan to slip away. Alida and Dariusz would be finishing their work together in thirty-minutes and I wanted to have a meeting with them. What Maciej hadn't warned me about was the thank-you kisses the monks gave me and Dylan. Even Donat kissed us thank you. He cut me off when I started to apologize because they had been without a furnace for so long.

“Now we are getting a better one than we would have been given and we are shifting to solar panels.” Donat said. “Who knows what other blessings we will receive when they complete our energy audit? The mysterious ways of God are working in our favor. I will give you a report after lunch. Christopher is calling so I'd better take this call. I guess the accountants got in touch with him. Dylan get your dad out of here. Go spank him for me. Hello Christopher just trying to get Rohan back on track. He's up to the usual. We have a large furnace on the way and he's buying us solar panels in the next day or two. Rohan we can take it from here.”

“You heard the boss Dad.” Dylan said swatting my ass. “There's chores for you. Alida and Dariusz expect tea will be ready for them and so do I. Let's move it along. You've done all you can here for now so let's get out the way. Lift me up so I can give you thank you kisses on the way to the cottage.”

Dylan held me back by the hand when I saw the delivery truck arrive. He got up from his seat and sat in my lap. Dariusz got up and drew the curtains. Alida saw I wouldn't be able to concentrate so she suggested we go across and help when we finished our tea. Dariusz poured us a round of tea in some travel mugs. I kissed him and taking the boys by the hand rushed over to the furnace room. Alida carried my tea for me.

“The sooner we get this installed the sooner the place warms up.” I said when Donat threw his hands in the air. “Yes I'm Rohan. Pleased to meet you Hubert. This is my son Dylan. His boyfriend Dariusz. This is Alida who is tutoring Dariusz for a week. Dariusz lives in the cottage with the solar panels on the roof. We need some more for the main house. First let's get this new furnace inside.”

Hubert had brought along a technician to help connect the new furnace and explain to our maintenance monk how to keep it running at optimal levels. The thermostats no longer need cords Hubert told us. We took a walk through the chapter house and he attached four of them to the wall with some double-sided tape. The thermostat measured humidity levels as well which I learned was important in feeling warm. Hubert suggested waiting until he'd done his energy audit and we'd corrected some of the things before we paid any attention to the humidity levels.

The monks had done what they could and sealed the spaces above and below the doors to each room. The range in the kitchen was inefficient but with solar-panels reducing our electricity bill we decided to wait until it broke before replacing it. Hubert told me the house was in good shape apart from the windows. Double-pane windows make such a difference in comparison to single-pane. Unfortunately he didn't do windows but always referred people to one particular shop in Katowice.

“What's their number?” I said pulling out my phone. “Halo, my name is Rohan and I need somebody to come out and take measurements for new windows. A double-storey house with about twenty-five or thirty windows. Tomorrow

is too late. I will have to call somebody else. When my friends are uncomfortable my patience is non-existent. Hubert recommended you. I'm sure he knows another company I can call. You have five minutes to call me back.”

Hubert had to speak to them when the guy called back because I was visibly losing patience. Dylan had seen it and taken the phone from me. He had me ask my Lady to sing for me while Hubert spoke to the store clerk. Hubert wasn't having any luck either. I decided to give it one last try.

“Ask them what bank they use.” I suggested to Hubert. “Good that's my bank as well. Here I'll chat with the bank manager.”

The bank manager got the owner of the window store to call me back. He listened as I explained how the clerk was stonewalling us despite my large order and all the work they'd gotten from Hubert's referrals. Then he assured me he was not willing to turn down a large order or upset Hubert and lose future business. I told him I understood this was a rush job and if his staff were busy and couldn't get it done I understood. Yes we can text you pictures of the windows and measurements. I have thirty monks and nuns so it means a window each. Dylan pointed out it would be easier on the guy if we emailed the information. That would work fine because he had to make a stop at the store to get the clerk away from the phone.

Hubert was kind enough to wait a few more minutes for lunch so we could get the window pictures taken and measurements done. I had two people measure each window as a double-check. Once we had sent him all the information we sat down to lunch. I apologized to everybody for being irritated. Dylan promised them he would spank me before we went to bed tonight. Donat set a bottle of vodka down in front of me while we waited for our food to be brought to us. The monks and nuns insisted on serving us as a thank you.

“Halo is Rohan here?” a large man asked as he entered the dining hall. “Good to meet you. My name is Karol. You sent me some information about windows.”

“Halo Karol.” I said standing and shaking his hand. “Have you had lunch? Join us. How many others? Have some vodka while we check.”

“Karol there will be soup and sandwiches for your men in about ten-minutes.” Donat said.

“Good. That is very kind.” Karol said. “May I have a look around and see some of the windows?”

“I can resume my lunch with you.” I said getting up.

Hubert, Donat and our maintenance monk tagged along. We started by showing Karol the new furnace. Yes I wanted the basement windows made more efficient as well. My concern was all the old windows being thrown away. Karol told me he could upgrade them back at the shop and would give me a credit for them. This gave his guys something to work on between jobs. Karol assured me it wouldn't take long at all to install the new windows.

“This is my entire workforce apart from one crew who I left back in case of an emergency call.” Karol said as we entered the dining hall to see a dozen guys being fed soup and sandwiches. “The clerk won't trouble you anymore. I have him working in the stockroom. Away from the phone.”

After lunch Karol took us outside to look at a variety of windows he'd brought with him. I brought out some monks as well because they had to clean them and live with them. Hubert agreed with Karol on the most efficient windows. Triple-pane that also kept the heat of the sun out while allowing light in was a very good choice Hubert told us. Donat handed our maintenance man his bottle of vodka when the man calculated how much this would all cost me. He assured me they were wonderful windows and would make his life easier. The old windows kept sticking or the latch would break. You can use the extra time to meditate or rest up I told him.

“How long will it take?” I asked Karol.

“We'll finish tomorrow at lunch time.” Karol said with a smile. “Yes Dylan they were very nice sandwiches and the soup was delicious. I am just a man and easily swayed by such things.”

“Please tell your men I will pay them to work until tomorrow at their regular finish time but if they get done at lunch time they have the afternoon off Karol.” I said. “We will prepare lunch for them as well. That's part of our thank you to them. Because they are willing to work so hard to help my friends and put up with my bad mood today I am also giving every one of them a $100 bonus. My accountant will call you in a few hours to arrange payment Karol if that is okay.”

“Your men don't look very happy Karol.” Dylan commented.

“They are not very happy.” Karol said. “We haven't had much work so they were all just sitting worrying about their jobs while my store clerk was doing his best to lose us this work. The bonus alone is like an extra week earnings. So they are very unhappy with him. I will make certain it stays at words and let them know this is your wish Rohan.”

The workers lined up to shake our hands and thank us before getting to work. Karol strapped on a tool belt and joined them. Donat chose a couple of monks to go with the chef to town and collect more meat for tomorrow. We have the sparring my son arranged so we might as well give everybody the afternoon off I decided. Donat agreed.

“How many cases do you want me to order?” Dylan said holding his hand over his phone. “I thought the monks could collect them while they were fetching the meat. Of course if nobody wants any vodka I could cancel.”

“Don't you dare.” I said. “Six cases. That will allow me to replace what we drink of Donat's supply. Also get a case of the Wild Turkey bourbon if they have. Three cases of soda. Thank you Dylan. You're as good as Tracy in anticipating my needs.”

Natalia told me she was still at the co-op and would gladly pick up some apple juice for me. She didn't need my card number she told me. This would be part of her donation to the Order. Alida and Dariusz smiled when I apologized for my plans to work with them getting blown out of the water. Dylan pointed out we had two hours before I needed to start cooking. That allowed us a little time to see the glaziers off as well. Donat would arrange for the monks to collect the meat, drink and apple juice. Dylan had the foresight to send Frederick an email asking him to call at the end of my two hours. He even asked Frederick to call his number so I wouldn't be rushed or disturbed.

Dylan made a pot of tea while I settled down to chat with Dariusz and Alida. When he had served us tea he returned to the kitchen to bake us a treat. I'd forgotten we'd ordered a set of cookbooks for Dariusz just like the ones we had at the house. Dariusz told me he'd made some macaroni and cheese with Alida's help last night for dinner. Alida told me she'd learned a trick or two for the cheese sauce.

“Rohan it's tricky when I have no message to read or listen to.” Alida explained. “When I channel it is usually advice to share with somebody or for myself. A message. Dariusz has nothing like that to share with me. Yes he explains what he is feeling. Low spots here. A strong spot there. He is even working on a drawing of the garden on the computer.”

“Let's have a look at it.” I said getting up and leading us over to the computer. “Alida tell me your first impressions. Don't think. Whatever feelings or thoughts spring to mind.”

“Firstly it is incomplete.” Alida said. “What Dariusz has done feels strong. Solid. There is a palpable energy to it.”

“Okay. That's good.” I said. “Darius bring a pen and paper and come sit down again. Sketch in roughly what you have already designed. Good. Now outline the remaining area you are planning on working on. That looks like a fair size garden. Now close your eyes and channel the energy of that piece of land through your feet. Keep your eyes closed while I ask you some questions. Will it be a flower garden or a vegetable garden or both?”

“Both.” Dariusz said immediately. “Yes, there will be a seating area. Three of them.”

“Please draw them in on the sketch.” I said and waited until he had finished. “Two of those seating areas are in the unfinished part of your design. Quickly fill in the plants and vegetables you will grow around these benches. What trees will shade the benches? Put them in. Now what will go in that space between the plants and vegetables surrounding the benches. Where will people walk? One last question. What ground cover are you using?”

Dariusz told me it wouldn't take him long to finish it on the computer. He looked at me strangely but agreed to keep a copy of the unfinished design. Alida laughed when Dylan told me to stay out of the kitchen. He pointed his spatula at me and warned me wouldn't hesitate to use it. Grand Master or not I wasn't allowed with six feet of his cooling cake. Shocking the lack of respect given to church elders Alida agreed with a smile. Dariusz let me know he had finished.

“That feels much more than complete.” Alida said. “Rohan it is as if the other part has more energy than before. Yes please let me see the original unfinished one. Definitely a stronger energy to the whole now.”

“Although Dariusz doesn't use words maybe you could consider the images he uses as words.” I suggested. “Would this work, Alida? I wanted you to work with him so you could let us know if it felt like he was on the right path. There is a resonance that lingers when I channel songs through my Lady. No doubt you experience the same when you channel words. Alida I am still new to this channeling thing and wanted somebody with more experience. While Dylan frosts our cake let's take a walk around the land with the diagram.”

Dariusz shed his shoes despite the cold and walked barefoot over the ground. I'd brought some small flags with me and had Dariusz stake out areas. We helped him run twine around the flags. Tomorrow morning I asked him to stand in each area and confirm what would be planted in it. Then he was to give me a list so I could buy the seeds while I was in town Thursday. Also check if you need anything else like soil, paving stones or ceramic pots I added.

“I'll just have one slice.” I said as Dylan cut the cake and placed a slice on a side plate for Alida, Darius and himself. “That slice that's left there ought to do it.”

“No Dad I'm not giving you the rest of the cake.” Dylan said when he finished laughing. “Good try though. I'm gad you like it Alida. I'll show you which recipe I used. From the bits I saw it looked like you guys got a lot done.”

“Yes, we did and I am beginning to feel confident this will work.” Alida said.

“I am feeling better.” Dariusz admitted. “Dylan it's strange but I can almost feel as if each part is supporting and making the other stronger. Like a spider web but one that as it gets bigger gets stronger. I can see what it will look like as if I was holding a picture of it.”

“Keep that picture in mind as much as possible.” I suggested. “When you meditate constantly ask how you can help bring it forth. Keep asking and make notes of what thoughts you have. Even if they make no sense know or you can't express it fully write what you can. Then meditate on what you have written and ask for more clarity. The deeper your meditation goes the more knowledge and understanding you'll uncover. One day I trust Dylan will meditate deeply enough to realize my empty plate is a sign I need more cake.”

“Yes Master.” Dylan said. “Please beat me Master. Oops. That will have to wait Frederick is calling. Hello Frederick how are you and the family? Rohan's blowing my inheritance again. I told him to stick to blowing me but he won't listen. Well there's a minimum of twelve-hundred in bonus plus the cost of thirty plus windows, labor and the Rolls Royce of furnaces. Oh, there's also solar panels for the chapter house. When Tim gets cold he reaches for a blanket. When Dad gets cold he buys a new furnace and upgrades the windows.”

Frederick and Dylan chatted about his holiday while we headed off to find Karol. Hubert was still here putting together last of his solar panel estimate.

“Does it work proportionally?” I asked Hubert. “I mean if that provided enough for the chapter house and I wanted a fifty per cent reserve do I add fifty percent of what you quoted me? Less is good but I'd rather have too much so we'll increase it by fifty percent.”

“Frederick says he will put twice as much in the account.” Dylan said when he relayed the information. “Whatever is left we can use for maintenance and replacements later he says. Karol do you have a figure for Frederick? The windows we know. You said $100 was like a weeks pay so if we figure on $2000 to cover labor and the bonus we should have plenty. I guess that puts us at around $12 000 Frederick. You know Dad won't object to you budgeting $15 000. How long will it be before you can pay them with the time difference? Oh, I'm sure they will be happy to know. We're almost done but Dad is cooking up something.”

“Karol I see lots of construction going on and was wondering why you didn't have work?” I asked. “I guess you would need a lot of capital up front to buy all the windows for multiple homes or an office block. Hubert do you do furnaces for these projects? Same problem as Karol. Oh, you also have to wait thirty days to get paid. My life-mate Tim has an international trading company. Provided the figures look good would you guys mind going into business with him? I cannot speak for him but I will ask him to consider it and if he's interested to give you a call. You don't mind if I give him your phone numbers do you?”

Dylan explained to Frederick what I was proposing. Frederick told us he would chat to Tim about it and offered to join in the call to help everybody work out the figures, establish methods of payment and profit-sharing if Tim was agreeable. I insisted he tell Tim it was his company so the decision was entirely his. I was just passing on what I saw might be a good opportunity for everybody. Karol and Hubert told me they wouldn't be any worse off if Tim didn't want to invest and had a lot to gain by talking to Tim.

“Please extend my apologies to your men but it looks like they might have to wait until Thursday to get their bonus Karol.” I said. “Frederick will only be at work when you and the banks here close for the day. You are right we do use the same bank. Dylan will you let Frederick know if that makes it easier. Eliasz will be able to pay you Hubert. Frederick will have the money in my account sometime today.”

“Halo Tim.” Dylan said as he took a call. “I'm sure we can find a room for them to use. Yes they can use my phone. Hold on while I ask. Tim and Frederick have time now to chat about the business partnership. They want a little more information so Tim can think it over. Do you guys have the time? I know it is finishing time for you. Okay that's good. Donat is there a room they can use for their chat? Thank you. Tim you'll be speaking with Karol and Hubert. I'm putting my phone on speaker. We'd like a quick report when you're finished so would you mind bringing it over to the cottage Karol? Dad has some cooking to do.”

Karol and Hubert entered the cottage while Maciej was giving me a very sincere thank you kiss. Like Tim he felt the slightest dip in temperature and hated the cold. Dylan told Hubert it looked as if he had a very satisfied customer in Maciej. I thought Maciej might shed a tear or two when Karol promised the windows on the upper level would be finished tomorrow. Maciej loved the idea of being warm enough to relax in his underwear through the winter. He rushed off to enjoy the comfort of a warm chapter house.

“My men did not mind waiting when I told them I was speaking to an investor.” Karol said. “They minded even less when I was able to tell them Tim was willing to finance us and I would be bidding on two projects. One is a residential development with twelve homes. The other is an office complex with seven offices. Dylan that will mean about a hundred windows for the homes and another fifty for the offices.”

“I will bid on the furnaces. One for each home and one large one like we installed here.” Hubert said. “Dariusz for me this could be one week where I do as much as I did in total for the past month. Yes in effect it doubles my sales.”

“Kraków is just an hour away.” I reminded them. “You might want to consider bidding for work there as well.”

“We will see how these bids go and maybe place a couple of test bids there as well.” Karol said. “My workers won't mind the hour traveling time if it means they have job security. They are all so happy now. Rohan many people would have given up earlier and gone elsewhere. You were kind enough to go to the trouble of tracking me down through the bank. Thanks to the chance you gave me and the help from your mate many people are happier. I will have to find a way to thank you.”

“Tomorrow afternoon we will celebrate our new partnership.” Hubert said. “The best part is Rohan will buy the drinks. They tell me you are the head of this church. One that stretches across the world. Today you got upset because some monks and nuns might be a little cold for one more night. I come over to see you cooking which is a rare sight in a Polish home. Men cook meat sometimes but mostly it is woman's work. You are a remarkable man Rohan. I am glad I got to meet you. I will be back with the solar panels tomorrow morning. Eliasz told me I could trust you so I ordered some more before I came out here. They will arrive first thing tomorrow morning. The panels will be in by lunchtime as well.”

“The most remarkable thing is how their comments have you blushing.” Alida said when the two of them had left.

I was relaxing with a drink while the potatoes finished cooking and idly watching the boys playing on the computer. Dylan came over and shook me awake. He smiled and kissed me before stepping aside. On the computer screen was a grinning Lance.

“Rohan I'm sorry to bother you but I'm going to see a friend of yours.” Lance said excitedly. “The tall man with the big sword. He lives in Scotland. We are taking the train. I am going on a train date with Nancy. Scotland is over a hundred miles away. I wanted to know if he likes hot chocolate? I'm glad because I am going to see if I can do some work for one of Christopher's tins of hot chocolate and take it with me. Well I got to go. I promised Garth I wouldn't be more than five minutes. Dylan is that your boyfriend? He's very handsome. Who's the pretty lady? Hello Alida. Just finishing Garth. Sorry guys but Garth says we can chat more tomorrow night. Bye.”

“Well that's a very sweet boy.” Alida said. “Who is the tall man with the big sword? A friend and your broadsword instructor. Rohan you have a great depth so the special people in your life must play many parts. You can tell us more over the next few days. I can see you're tired and you still have to drive home. Let's have an early dinner. I'd like to hear more about Lance.”

Dylan filled them in about Lance. I was feeling very tired and looking forward to getting a lot of sleep. Yesterday I'd made an extra apple and an extra blackberry pie. When we sat down to eat I put them in the oven to bake. Before we served dessert Dylan had me teach Dariusz the Sunderland chant with the bouncing. I apologized for rushing off so soon. Dylan's eyes opened wide when we got to the car and I handed him his day pack.

“Your toothbrush is in it.” I said as he hugged me. “I'll bring you some clean clothes tomorrow morning. You guys have a wonderful night.”
