Help keep the flame of freedom burning. Chapter Twelve--Timothy the Assassin and Conclusion by T. Edward Hutchinson Timothy and Greg turn twenty one. Greg, on summer vacation from his ivy league college. is the bosses son. Tim, for all appearances a low level employee, is actually an entry level soldier in the Tsvetkov crime family. Part of Greg's summer job is to supervise Timothy, a pretend cousin and a true friend. The other part is to continue as an apprentice to Mr. Lippi, the chief adviser to the boss, his father. To Timothy it seems that there is always some new training regimen that he is expected to complete. This time all he knows ahead of time is a name, that of his trainer, Mr. Miller, and the place and time of their first meeting, ten am, room 14 at a non chain economy motel in an industrial section of the capitol city. Mr. Miller on the other hand looks like a middle class, middle aged, white collar worker that one sees by the hundreds. Timmy's eyes go wide when the man informs him that he is to be trained as an assassin's assistant, not Mr. Miller's assistant necessarily, but to be ready and able to work with any number of hit men that take on jobs for any of the associated organizations in the country. Mr. Miller gives Timothy some examples of what he might be required to do. "The assassin plans the job. He or she usually, but not always, is the one to do the hit. If it is to be done in a restaurant it might be arranged for you to pose as a bus boy. Perhaps you would slip something into the target's food or drink. Maybe a substance to make the person drowsy so his reflexes would be compromised. Or you might be stationed outside to warn the assassin of some problem he or she anticipates so that the hit is called off for that moment. They spend months going over the details of hits that were well done and those that failed. Various techniques were practiced and there were several dry runs from start to finish on unsuspecting civilians who walked away never knowing the purpose they had served. Timothy learned to scale buildings, pick locks and acquired many other useful skills. "Of course, one day you would be promoted to assassin." ***** This training did not take all his time. He continued to perform his other duties for the organization; occasional bodyguard, some sex dates with clients, and always available to Mr. Tsvetkov or Gregg at the apartment. The holiday season came around. Gregg became engaged to Mary Lou Lippi a woman two years younger than himself. The fathers of the couple couldn't have been more pleased. A July wedding was planned with a two week honeymoon in Rome. Gregg's last semester at his Ivy League college flew by. In May Mr. Tsvetkov asked his son what he would like for a graduation present. Gregg said, "Timothy." His father eyes widened, his mouth opened but nothing came out. "It's time, isn't it, that you got a new boy for the apartment? Past time even?" "Yeah, I suppose. I've kept Timmy longer than any other. The boy would still have all his obligations to the organization, you know." "Sure, we all do. Even you." "Yes, that's right. Some people think I can do whatever I want, but that's not true. I have to think about what is best for all of us, what's best for the organization. I didn't think you were into BDSM though." "I'm not, I wont use him the same way you would." "You want him to live with you, at your place?" "Sure, he's my cousin. Why shouldn't he?" "What about Mary Lou, aren't you concerned she would be offended?" "Mary Lou understands that she is to be my wife, like Mamma is your wife." "And you're going to bring him to Sunday dinner and family events?" "About time. Everyone knows that he's my cousin. And if he's living in my home of course he would be included the same as Mary Lou and my children. When we have them. Besides, if any enemies should show up, Timmy would kill them." "Well, sometimes the old ways are put aside and new ways take their place. I'll have to think about it, get used to this idea. I want you to be happy after all." ***** The few days before Gregg's graduation he told Timothy that he was being replaced at the apartment. He was to pack up his things and be ready to move the following Monday. He would pick Timothy up and bring him to where he was to reside. When they arrived at the brick town house, Timothy asked, "Who's place is this?" "Come on, grab half your stuff. I'll carry the other half." Gregg led the boy to a bedroom at the far end of the third floor. "This is your room. I'll show you the rest of the place in, oh, maybe a half hour. It's going to my new home, for me, Mary Lou and you and someday my kids. You're mine now Timothy."
