Turnhurst Manor Chapter 21 Remember this is not a love story but a story of survival. After breakfast I went out to check out the farm. I noticed right away I had an escort on my tour. Alex and Aaron were armed to the max. I was surprised that they were able to carry all the weapons they had. I also notice that something was missing. No not something, it was someone it was Boe. I didn't see him anywhere, usually he is the first one to meet me when I come out from the house. When I asked the boys where Boe was they tried to avoid the question. I eventually got the truth out of them. Boe had been the first casualty on the farm. When the fighting started Boe attacked one of the soldiers. He injured the soldier before he was shot. I was also told Sheba had been killed. But not before she had killed two soldiers. David had taken over caring for the cubs. Taking fresh cows milk and catching rabbits and other small animals and leaving them for the cubs. At first the cubs wouldn't have anything to do with the animals that were left for them, but when they got hungry enough they began to eat. I went over to the barn to check on the livestock and they were doing fine. I was glad that none of the cattle or sheep were harmed. We would need all the animals for the coming winter if we didn't get the crops in the ground. I then went out to inspect the new farm equipment. There was some damage but it could be fixed. The problem was going to be figuring out how to use the equipment. None of us were farmers and it would all be new to us. Kyle joined me and his brothers as we made our way to the clinic. Brian and Cisco had made their way back there as we were approaching. Billy was checking on some of the other injured boys when we made our way inside to see Bruce. He was still under sedation but from what Billy told me he would be fine when he woke up. I was totally taken by surprise when I saw Philip in the bed next to him. I thought he had been killed. When the Captain attacked and killed the group of prisoners in the house, I witnessed him get shot in the head but I guess it only grazed the skull. That is what caused him to be knocked unconscious. He had a bad concussion and he had been shot in the hip. When they first found him they thought he was dead. I guess someone had heard him moan when they moved him. So Craig checked him out then Billy did the same. It would be a while before he would be up and walking around. Next thing I know I was joined by Eric. now my little family had grown to five. It would get larger as the morning went on. We went over to Dan and Tuckers house, it was being used by the boys from the orphanage. It still amazes me that those kids were able to survive by them selves for this long. They were sitting around talking. They were all happy to see that I was up and moving around. They were also wondering what they could do to help. I guess they were bored. I talked to Kyle and made a few suggestions, he would talk to Ben and Jon and think about some ideas. The boys all decided they would join us on the rest of the tour. I wasn't sure but something seemed off. I was missing someone. Then it came to me. Tyler was missing. I asked the boys around me and no one said they had seen him. When I got to the guard house. That is the building we are now keeping weapons and the surveillance equipment. Anthony and Troy were on guard duty till late afternoon. I asked how everything was going and they said it was quiet. I could see both boys had been injured but not to bad. I looked around for Anton. Lately the two twins were never apart. Seem like a little war draws family together. I guess he was sleeping in back with another boy from the orphanage. Someone said his name but I keep forgetting it. They would be doing the afternoon and night guard duty shifts. I asked Troy if he had seen Tyler? He told me that Tyler and two others had taken a pickup and a bunch of weapons and headed east. I wasn't sure what Tyler was up to but I knew he knew what he was doing. It was around lunch time and I was hungry. our little group broke up and we went our separate directions. I still had my two bodyguards and Kyle and Eric with me. We headed to the main house and made ourselves some food to eat. The other boys were grilling food outside. I was tired so I went to go lay down for a few hours or so. There was not really a lot for me to do so later, I went and joined Anton and Troy to help keep watch. Ben and Jon had found something for the boys from the orphanage to do. They were out in the garden picking rocks. After that Jon took a few boys out to one of the farms and brought back more ammo just in case. That night Kyle and I went out to the barn to do chores. I wasn't much help other then to make love to my soul mate. The next few days were basically the same thing over and over. My arm was healing and I was feeling better. I went and checked on Bruce and Philip. Bruce was feeling better and was almost ready to get out of bed. Philip was still out. Bobby said it would be a while before he might come too. Eric and Kyle and my body guards were always with me when ever I went outside. Tyler and the two boys had not come back yet and I was getting worried. I still loved Tyler and hoped he was ok. Ben and Jon decided they would try their hand at building another structure after they had all the repairs done on the other houses. They had a couple of the older boys from the orphanage along with David and a few of his group help them start the foundation of the new building and soon it was beginning to look like a building. It was going to be the new bunk house and kitchen. Things seem to be going good. It had been two weeks and I was helping out where I could. It seemed I was better off helping cook food for our group of hard workers. An alarm went off and everyone scrambled to arm each other. The younger boys went into the main house and we sent them to the basement. I ran to the guard house and Craig and Aaron were on duty. Craig went out to his post on the roof. He was one of the better snipers in the group. We watched as three pickups and a semi came up the highway, I recognized the pickup in the lead and told the boys to hold fire unless we were attacked first. Someone got out of the pickup and waved. It was Tyler and the two other boys. Tyler walked back to the pickup and said something to someone inside then walked back up to the driveway. Ben hopped on a four wheeler and went out to greet him. Tyler hopped on the four wheeler and rode up to the guard house. "Hey." Tyler said as I ran to him and gave him a huge hug. "God, I missed you I told him." As I gave him a kiss. I think Eric and Kyle were jealous by the look on their faces. "Where the hell have you been?" I asked him. Tyler then went into his story. He had captured one of the soldiers and began to, well lets just say asked him a few questions while removing a few things he would no longer need. He found out that the soldiers had taken prisoners and were holding them in a large house that they had found. So he took two of David's boys with him. Tony and JR both proved to be well worth having with him. Tyler had figured it must have been Turnhurst Manor that they were holding the people. So he decided to go. He was planning on going by himself but Tony and JR were not going to let him. They loaded up a pickup and took off. They drove down hwy 29 into the village before the manor. it was deserted. He showed the boys the tunnel under the manor. The one we used to escape so many years ago, They snuck through the walls of the manor and took soldiers out one at a time. Once that was finish he armed some of the prisoners and took them to get food for the others. He took JR and a few of the others with him to retrieve food from the warehouse we found. Then over to the military ammo dump and retrieved more weapons and another truck. Filled one of the trucks then filled a few vehicles and brought them back to the manor. He would later tell me that he was now very close to JR. There were twenty total prisoners. He also informed me that there were four young girls in the group of twenty. He had to teach a few of the young men how to drive and they then went to get more fuel and vehicles. That was why it took so long for them to get back. I had to figure out where we were going to house the girls and keep them safe. I personally did not want them on the farm because I figured they would cause a distraction. I was correct on that assumption. They had only been on the farm a week when several fights broke out among the New comers and several of the boys on the farm. So it was decided to move them and who ever wanted to go with them to another farm place we had renovated. After they were gone everything went back to normal. Like always Chris and Brandon had figured out how to use the new machinery and soon we were planting crops. The boys from the orphanage took over planting the garden and keeping it clean and well weeded. Thankfully thing settled down and things began to return to normal. Two more houses were built along with the kitchen and bunk house. Around the time the crops had been finished planting. Philip finally woke up. Eric, Kyle and I helped to get him back on his feet. It took a few months but finally he was walking again. In the process we started cleaning the town of Sudbury out. First the Walmart then the Lowell's, Menards, grocery stores and a few other stores that we knew we could use what was held inside. We thought we could use some of the factories and equipment to make new products. In the mean time Eric, Kyle and I were getting closer to each other. One night Eric and I were having a little fun. After we finished Eric decided to ask me a question. He said he had been thinking about it for a while. The reason he wanted to ask was because he kept thinking I looks so familiar. I agreed with him. So he asked. "Jeff, what is your last name and do you remember where you use to live?" I had to think for a while. It had been such a long time since I had ever used my last name. "I think it is Cooper? I am not sure." I told him. "Really?" he said as he looked at me. "Because my last name is also Cooper." he told me. I was surprised. I seem to know that in the back of my mind I always knew it was. Flash backs came to my mind. I remember staying at his house before the war. Sleeping in the same bed. playing in the backyard. sneaking off to kiss behind a shed. Showing each other our little penis's. My first love. Here before me was lying my cousin. We had moved six months before the war had started because of my dads new job. I knew now why I loved him and kissed him that day in Sudbury. As we talked we started bringing up old stories of our child hood. then he asked "So now that we know that we are cousins do you want to stop having sex together?" "Do you?" I asked. "No, I don't want to stop unless you want too? I will do what ever you want." he said. I didn't even have to think about it. I loved him even more. Its not like we were the only family members having sex. I knew Kyle would join his two half brothers once in a while. Then there was Bobby and Billy along with several others. So I told him I loved him and kissed him. That night we had more sex than any other time. We were both very sore the next day. Things were going great on the farm places. The other groups had planted crops and a large garden so there would be plenty of vegetables to keep us fed over the winter months. Time was passing fast, two winters had past since the battle of Sudbury and our families were happy . I slowly stepped down as the leader of the farms. Ben had taken over as the farms manager and over looked all aspects of the groups. Philip and a few others began a canning production company which took the produce we were producing. They were canning beans, corn, tomatoes, and potatoes. We had located several other surviving groups and were trading goods for goods. It seemed like life was finally returning to normal. Two of the girls had given birth and new life filled the farms. Two little girls named Daniela and Christina after their father. Yes Chris. It really wasn't a surprise he was handsome and Sissy had fallen for him the first time she laid eyes on him. It still did not stop him from coming to me for a nice long fuck. David was the father of Daniela, she was named after the man who had saved his life in Sudbury. One day while Kyle, Eric, Aaron, Alex and I were out investigating I made a decision. I wasn't going to go back to the farm. Everyone had settled down. I was missing something in my life. Adventure!! I wanted to see if there were other places like what we had built. Both Kyle and Eric could see it in my eyes. I knew if I asked they would go with me anywhere. I also know Alex and Aaron would follow if I decided to leave. I told them what I had decided. We had enough food and gas for a long trip. At least two weeks worth and where I decided to go I knew we could find more if we just looked. We were going east on hwy 29. Had past the old compound that was now totally gone. I decided to make one last stop. Turnhurst Manor. When we turned up the long drive there was a pickup sitting there. As we pulled up Tyler got out of the truck with JR. The manor was nothing but a burnt out structure. As Tyler and JR approached he said. "I knew you would stop here. This is where our adventure had all started. I could tell something was going to happen and there is no way we were going to let you guys have all the fun. So we are going with." he stated. I was happy. He was the one person I did not want to leave behind. So I told him Lets go. So in our two pickups and trailers we headed south. With a new adventure to begin. Epilog: My name is Thomas Cooper I am 46 years old. My fathers are Jeff Cooper, Eric Cooper and Kyle Cooper. My Uncles are Alex and Aaron Johnson, Tyler and JR Turnhurst. This is the journal I found while going through dad's stuff. I did not know he had gone through any of these things. Life has been so good to us. All but Uncle JR are dead. They never talked about their past. I was born in 2030 and the world has changed. I am publishing this story so the world can know that life was not always good, since the war to end all wars. Hopefully no one will ever have to go through that again. I left nothing out. I did not sugar coat it. Thanks for reading. The End.
