I do appreciate those who have written me and I will be replying to everyone soon if I haven't already. The support and concern has been nice and I appreciate all the rteaders so much. I will be trying to turn out Chapter 11 soon and it should contain a bit of "FUN" for those of you who like my sex scenes. This chapter ties up some loose ends and allows me to take the story in a new direction. Thanks for reading. Unconventional Family Chapter 10 - Family Redefined By: Brad Goodman The week Sheila was gone seemed to go by quickly. It is amazing how much there is to do when you have to tend to all the kids needs and handle all the chores alone. David was cool and he really helped me make sure everything was taken care of. Nick decided to dump Kyle but why I am not sure. Jeffrey and Michael seemed to blossom and come out of their shell and really begin to find their place in our family. I found it to be a bit odd that they would seem to become more at ease with their mother gone but they did. John seemed to be more at ease as well and he really was quite the little flirt teasing and flashing everyone in the house all week long. It was quite an amazing feeling and seemed that everyone felt it. It was as if all of us had a weight lifted from our shoulders and we were free to be ourselves. I kept telling myself it just couldn't be Sheila being gone but I couldn't figure out what else it could have been. Friday rolled around and Nick came into my room to talk to me. He told me he broke up with Kyle and that he had a new boyfriend but his new boyfriend was younger than him. "Dad, I am falling for John. He and I have been messing around and I think I love him. He is so funny and sweet and we really like each other so much. It is really cool." Nick looked into my eyes. "That is great Nick. I am so happy you two are hitting it off so well. I can see how the two of you really fit together. You guys are almost perfect for each other." I told him. I gave him a little hug. "Yeah he and I are a lot alike. But I love him like I do you Dad. I want to be with you all the time. I want to kiss you and hold your hand. You both make me so happy." He smiled so brightly at me as he told me this. "You are so wonderful Nick. I love you more than words can explain." I kissed his forehead and continued, "I want to hold you in my arms all the time. I wish we never would have to be apart. There is nothing that means more to me in this world than you boys." "Dad, I want to ask you something?" He looked puzzled now. "Okay son." I replied. "Well this is kind of hard to ask. I don't want to sound mean or anything. Ummm, ahhhhh," Nick stuttered a bit, "Why do Michael and Jeffrey love you more than their mom?" "What?" I exclaimed. "What do you mean? Why do you think that?" "Well Michael and Jeffrey said they loved you more than their mom and that they hope you will let them stay here when she doesn't come home." He answered. "What do you mean when she doesn't come home? She told me she was coming home this weekend. Why do they think she isn't coming home?" I was so confused I couldn't think why Nick was saying this or why Michael and Jeffrey would tell him that. "Well they didn't really want to tell you because Sheila is suppose to call you tonight but she called a couple of days ago and I heard them talking. Michael told me later that his mom had made a promise to them to help find a daddy who would love them like they wanted. She and they did not really get along well and they had an agreement that if she found them a daddy they loved they could stay with him and she would move away. They still want to see her from time to time but they want to live with you." Nick looked a little surprised that I didn't know it. "They planned it. She planned on getting me to fall in love with her kids so I would take them. That is sick. I knew she was a bit weird but I didn't realize she was recruiting me to take her kids. I don't know what to say." I was shaking a bit. "Does that mean you won't let Michael and Jeffery stay here. They are so cool and they really love you." Nick looked like he might cry if I refused to let the boys stay. "I am not saying that. I am just shocked. What does she plan to do. Leave the boys with me and then have the baby and come back and leave it here too? It is just so much to ponder over." Nick smiled a bit and then he looked down. "I hate to be the one to tell you this Dad, but she isn't pregnant. Michael told me it was a lie so she could get you to let them move in. She figured it would work and that you would fall for the boys." I looked at Nick and lifted his head so I could peer into his beautiful blue eyes. "Don't be ashamed Nick. You are being honest with me and I appreciate it. Sheila lied to you and the boys as well as me. I am disappointed but not mad. If she wants to move out than that is her choice. I won't try to stop her and Michael and Jeffery can stay with us forever. I love you guys." Nick hugged me and we cried a bit. I was sad and it hurt him too. He was so sweet. "You know this week has been the best anyway. It seems like everyone is happier and feels free to be themselves." I told him trying to be frank. "You are right. I like it better without her. In fact everyone does. Even Coach Jones and Tony said they liked it better." "Then it is settled. She is gone and we are all happier. I need to get Michael and Jeffery and talk to them about this." I kissed Nick on the forehead and we hugged again. Nick ran out and informed Michael and Jeffery that I wanted to talk to them. The two boys bounded in and where in quite a good mood. I think Nick told them I wanted them to stay. With very broad grins on their faces they said in unison "You wanted to see us." "Yes, I do. I talked to Nick and he told me about the conversation you boys had the other night. I wanted to tell you^Å" The boys cut me off by saying in unison again "You want us to stay!" They jumped into my arms and hugged me. I just nodded and squeezed them tightly. Just then the phone rang. I answered and it was Sheila. Before she could give me some lame excuse for not wanting to come home or not telling me the truth I cut her off. I told her I knew everything and that the boys were more than welcome to stay. She was a bit relieved and she was happy to have the boys out of her hair. She told me that she never really understood her boys but was always intrigued by their desires. They had a lot of conflicts because of their problems with her sexuality and vice versa. She wanted her boys but they wanted a man. She told me that if I checked the safe I would find she had granted me permanent custody of Michael and Jeffery and all I had to do was turn it in to our lawyer. She told me she would call me when she was in town and try to see the boys. She hung up and I was stunned. Immediately I thought this is why no one wants to give teachers raises. The bad apples like Sheila make the whole bunch seem odd. Michael and Jeffery wanted to watch a movie and I told them to pick one out of our library. They ran off and David walked in with dinner. He stopped off and got us all Chinese. We all ate as we watched the movie and when it was over a lot of the boys were asleep. David and I carried off John, Michael and Jeffery to bed and then we left Tony, Jacob and Nicholas to play video games. We carried down all the dishes and David and I discussed all that had happened that night. He was stunned and shocked but he said it was for the best. "So I guess I can move into your room now?" David told me. "Well, ah, um, I, huh, um. well^Å" I was trying to respond. "I was just fucking with you Brad. I don't want to leave Tony. I think I am very happy with him upstairs. Is it okay if we stay longer?" David smiled at me. "I don't think so David. I think you two need to try and find a place of your own. This house is awfully crowded." I stared blankly at him. "Aaaaa, yeah, I guess so." David replied as he hung his head down. "Gotcha!" I yelled. "You two can stay as long as you like." David smiled broadly and we laughed together a bit. We finished the dishes and went upstairs and played with the boys. They were playing video games and David and I got our butt's kicked for about two hours before we all headed off to bed. I told the boys about Sheila and our new situation and everyone said they were happy about that. It surprised me that none of them really liked her. After a good night sleep everything seemed right the next morning. We all worked around the house and the yard and prepared for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day holidays. The next month was great and we all seemed to be bonding more and more. Everyone had a place in the family and had developed a very important role. Michael and Jeffery seemed to enjoy themselves more now than ever before. In fact everyone was enjoying themselves so much. Jeffery turned 10 and John had his 13th birthday. Everything was progressing well and all the boys had good grades and were considered outstanding students. Before I knew it Jake's 15th birthday passed and Christmas was upon us. David and I had planned a huge event and spent money like it was growing on trees. We wanted to make everything as special as possible for all the boys. Three days before Christmas there was a knock at the door and when I opened it I was shocked by who I saw standing there. To be continued.......
