I smiled at him, I am sure he had. The dogs bounded over to Chris and I, we both got down on our hunkers to greet them, I was pleased to see Chris was a dog lover. Another mental note to self. I stood, having given them both a hug and saying how smart they looked in their new collars. `You look very smart too' It was Zoltan, I looked down at him, this telepathy with my dog was going to take some getting used to. ***************************** Vampyre - Part Thirty `Time to make our entrance then' I said Chris, Gunther and myself, together with Zoltan and Boyra started to walk down to the Great Hall. `Sir' It was Martin; the head of my security detail. `Yes Martin' `Sir, just to let you know that the estate is now fully secured, I have however lost one of my security guards, I think he might be with err one of the guests' `Oh, okay Martin, I will look into it, while I am thinking about it, can you keep Philippe well away from the house, I don't want anyone taking advantage of him' `Yes Sir' `Thank you Martin, let me know if anything changes, carry on' Martin headed back towards the temporary control room he had set up in the kitchens, we continued on into the Great Hall, Montfort was there already, Connor by his side both in SA uniforms; Montfort's collar patches matching my own, several of the other Old Ones, dressed like us, I recognised them all, half of the early thirties SA Leadership was in the room. `Wow neat' Chris gasped as we entered the Hall. I looked round the room, talk about a makeover; who had done all this? Where had all my furniture gone? Christ, hanging from the walls of the room from either side of the double doors were hung floor to ceiling, three foot wide by ten foot long, Swastika flags, in front of each, standing at attention; six either side of the doors, were twelve SA musicians; drummers and fanfare trumpeters; ceremonial SA banners hanging from their instruments, in front of the remaining flags circling the rest of the room stood an SA man in full uniform. A large Fuhrer Banner now had pride of place above the stone fire place, the room was alive with light glistening off the gold braid of the uniforms and flags and the gleaming highly polished instruments, all of them reflecting the setting last rays of the sun through the windows and the flames of the roaring fire, I glared at Gunther, who shrugged his shoulders and mouthed. `I tried to tell you earlier Sir' He had, I glanced at my watch, still no sign of Ernst or Karl; I would be having a serious word with them both. As I stood trying to take it all in, one of the SA Officers nearest the door, slammed his foot to the ground bringing himself to attention, barking out the order. `Honour Guard Aufmerksamkeit', The room reverberated to booted feet slamming to attention; the men now ramrod straight, then silence, I glanced round, then nearly jumped out of my skin as the eight drummers; who had previously all been standing quietly along the wall, rapidly began to beat out a steady rhythm. The four fanfare trumpeters began an ear splitting fanfare as the doors were opened into the hall and in marched Jurgen carrying a gold eagle topped `Deutschland Erwache' standard, he was flanked by two other equally tall and well built, impressive specimens of German manhood, close behind them was Karl in his SA Gruppenfuhrer uniform and then Ernst in his SA Leaders uniform, his blood red collar patches, glistened with the gold thread which picked out his rank patches, no wonder we used to be called, rather derogatorily `The Golden Pheasants'. I did a double take as Zeke followed him in, dressed in the black later war Hitler Youth uniform, his dagger hanging from his waist; where had he gotten that uniform, as if I didn't know. Ian was by his side in an SA Uniform. Ernst, Karl, Zeke and Ian, took up a position in front of Jurgen's colour party, the drummers and fanfare trumpeters stopped abruptly, another barked order. `Zur Wende, Marz' With that the musicians and the SA troopers, did a smart right turn and marched out of the room, the heavy oak double doors banging closed behind them, silence again. I nervously glanced at Chris, where had I been when all this being planned? Chris, was smiling broadly and god he looked horny in his uniform, Ernst turned to the room and held up his hand. `Gentlemen, Yes I will speak in English, I borrowed one of Jonathon's security guards earlier and he has improved my English no end' That's where the missing guard was, Ernst chuckled and exaggeratedly wiped his lips, a laugh and then a clap from Montfort. `Well done, he has done a good job, which one was it, I need to improve my English too' Montfort burst out laughing. Ernst nodded and winked at him `Later' Ernst cleared his throat and continued. `Gentlemen, first let me thank Jonathon for hosting this event for us all' A round of applause `Gentlemen, please join me in a toast' Ernst clicked his fingers at two SA men, dressed in white Mess Jackets, sometimes called white panzer wraps and black dress trousers, each holding a silver tray of champagne glasses; where had those guys come from, they must have slipped in behind Ernst and Zeke. I peered at the glasses, Oh god, all those glasses contained a thick off white viscus liquid; some drained squaddies cum, I glanced at Chris. `Chris, I am not sure you will want one of these...' I started `Nonsense' it was Montfort, `It will put hairs on his chest' He belly laughed again and clapped Chris on the back, then taking two glasses from the proffered tray handed one to Chris, I took one for myself, Chris stared at the glass. `Don't feel you have to drink it' I whispered to him `Jonathon, don't worry, it's not the first time, I have had cum in my mouth' There was that smile again, Chris winked and smiled again. Oh crap, I stepped forward. `Karl, I am not sure Zeke should...' Zeke glared at me. `Jonathon, I won't tell you again' Montfort hissed starring straight at me, I stepped back watching as Zeke eagerly took the glass being offered to him by Karl. `Meine Herren, ops Sorry Jonathon, Gentlemen, Please raise your glasses to our continued existence, may we all live for a thousand years' `A thousand years' the room barked back at him. Where had we all heard that before? Ernst drained his glass and then threw it at the fire place, the crystal shattering into a thousand pieces, it was joined by several others, including Zeke's; Karl and him throwing them together to a great cheer. It was good to see Zeke looking so happy, he was really attached to Karl and Ernst, he seemed so relaxed with them, so different than he was with me. I felt my arm being nudged `Penny for them' Chris whispered. I must have zoned out. `Sorry Chris, I am fine' `To us' he said, clinking his glass into mine. `To us' I repeated He looked so gorgeous, I wanted to rip his clothes off there and then, later, I told myself, later. `Gentlemen, onwards to the entertainment' Ernst marched towards the French doors leading to the garden terrace, two more SA men opened them in unison and following Ernst we all made our way out on to the terrace and then down the stairs and into the main marquee. As the doors were opened to us, the band within struck up `Deutschland lied' there was shuffling of chairs as the occupants all stood to attention and began belting out the first stanza. Led by the Colour Party, Jurgen proudly holding the standard aloft, we made our way in in procession. `Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles, uber alles in der Welt,' Chris grinned at me, as we walked through the doors and made our way down a central corridor to a table laid out just for us at the far end of the hall. `Thank you for inviting me' he gripped my arm, `there must be hundreds of guys in here, what a sight, you can see how so many became followers' I glanced round at Gunther as the spectacle unveiled itself to us. `I tried to tell you' he mouthed again. Montfort obviously caught me looking round at Gunther, he wrapped his arm around Ernst's waist, loudly proclaiming `Excellent, Excellent, Ernst' I am sure you can all imagine the room had been transformed since I had last seen it, now set up like a Beer Hall at the Munich beer festival. Subdued white lighting crisscrossed the ceiling, from which hung great decorated garlands of green foliage, highlighted with golden baubles, wooden tables and benches stretched out at right angles to ours, which was sitting on a raised dais, a small stage area in front of that, fronted with a typical Bavarian wooden fence, decorated with garlands of green and gold, black red and white, at the rear of the marquee were we had come in was a large bar along the entire wall, several huge barrels of beer on wooden stands clearly visible, the bar straining with large glass steins of frothing beer. The previously white walls of the marquee, were covered with alternating Bavarian flags of blue and white cheques and blood red party Swastika banners, over to the right was a small area again surrounded by a wooden fence topped with garlands of green and gold, this was an area set aside for the orchestra initially and then later as I would learn the Oompah band. Directly opposite was another fenced and decorated area, which held three more long wooden tables and benches, currently unoccupied. Our table was covered with a white table cloth, the front facing the assembled men again hung with Party Banners and on the wall behind us a huge golden Party Eagle hung on an enormous silver pleated wall covering. Ernst, shook hands with us each in turn and pointed out where we were to sit, Montfort and I sat either side of him, on my other side was Karl and then Chris and Gunther; I would rather have been sitting next to Chris, even feeling a twinge of jealously as Karl clapped him on the knee, both of them laughing together. But hang on where was Zeke? I had not seen him since we left the Great Hall, I caught Gunther's eye, mouthing to him, where is Zeke? He too looked round and shrugged his shoulders. I was about to ask Ernst, when he stood and banged the table with a wooden gavel. `Meine Herren, Kameraden, herzlich willkommen' I heard Karl whispering to Chris, Ernst just said `Gentlemen, Comrades, Welcome' The barked out response made the place shake. `Grusse Genosse' Karl leaned in again to Chris they are replying `Greetings Comrade' he whispered as Chris nodded. Ernst held up his hand for quiet. `Ich habe eine wichtige Ankundigung zu machen, bevor der Spass beginnt. Manner der SA begrußen unsere Zukunft, bitte stehen Sie fur die Hitlerjugend ein'. I watched as Karl leaned even closer into Chris, translating what Ernst was saying; I should be doing that. `I have one important announcement to make before the fun begins. Men of the SA welcome our future, please stand for the Hitler Youth'. As Karl finished translating we all stood at the top table closely followed by the assembled SA men. A dozen drums began a steady rhythm outside at the far end of the marquee, becoming noticeably louder as the doors were opened, a barked order of command and the orchestra in the marquee struck up into `Die Fahne hoch', `The flag on high' also known as the Horst Wessel lied, one of the main songs of the Hitler Youth. The first person through the doors was Zeke, proudly marching towards us, dressed in his black Hitler Youth leader uniform. All of us at the top table followed Ernst as he began clapping. Zeke was closely followed by the two Scharfuhrer's; `Squad Leaders' similarly dressed, both carrying the red and white Lozenge flags with Swastika's at their centres, the flag of the Hitler Youth, behind them came the drummers and bugle boys and finally two groups of twenty boys each, ranging in age from 14 to 16, all wearing the brown HJ Uniforms, to the thundering assembled voices, they added their own, proudly marching into the marquee. `Die Fahne Hoch! Die Reihen fest geschlossen! SA marschiert mit ruhig festem Schritt. Kameraden, dir Rotfront und Reaktion erschossen, marschieren im Geist in unseren Reihen mit'. I could hear Karl, singing in English, probably for Chris's benefit `The Flag high! The ranks tightly closed! SA marches with calm, firm pace. Comrades who the Red Front and Reaction shot dead, march in spirit within our ranks'. As Zeke and the two Scharfuhrer's came up on to the stage the drummers, buglers and marchers broke away and went to the left into the unoccupied area, the drummers continuing to beat out the beat, until Zeke came to a halt in next to Ernst. The marquee became quiet as Ernst held up his hand, the troops now all resuming their seats. `Gentlemen, yes this time I speak English, It is my great honour to promote Zeke here, to the rank of Gebietsfuhrer of the Hitler Youth' Ernst turned to Zeke and placed new collar patches on to his, nothing would surprise me now tonight; Zeke now a senior youth leader, the assembled men again leapt to their feet, as the Orchestra began once more to play the Deutschland leid. As the singing came to an end, Ernst turned and saluted Zeke, shaking his hand vigorously, he pointed to our table and Zeke, grinning wildly joined us at the top table. This time Karl stood and shouted to the assembled. `Gentlemen, time to enjoy yourselves' I hadn't noticed the Orchestra retiring and a full Bavarian Oompah band replacing them, as they struck up the popular drinking song Ein Prosit, which many of you will know, uniformed SA men in Whites, began distributing the steins of beer to the tables, while the caterers brought out plates piled high with sausage, sauerkraut and potato salad. I sat looking at all this madness, my mind taken back to the early thirties, we the Vampyre's had failed to stop it at the time, it was us who had fled, why hadn't we fought back, we could have won easily, but we preferred to remain undiscovered; so the madness had taken hold and was to end less than twenty years later in total destruction and chaos. I glanced down to Chris again, Karl had his arm round him, they were both laughing, I think I was the only person who wasn't. Of course our table wasn't eating, but behind us was a gap in the silver curtain, through it another room, where a selection of Montfort's squaddies were laid out for us; I was no longer hungry, my mind was troubled, what was Ernst thinking of; not just this orgy of indulgence, but a vintage Mercedes for Zeke and now he had promoted him to be a senior leader of the youth movement, I couldn't help thinking that Mark would never have allowed this. Mark please come back, I pleaded silently, please. ***************** Guys, it's always great to hear by email that you are enjoying the story and want it to carry on.
