Once he entered his father spun on his heels. The look on his face scared and surprised Iggy a bit. He had never seen his father like this. "Papi, what's wrong?," he asked with concern in his voice. His father turned to him with a stern look on his face, "I don't know if I can have you bring your friend here and watch you and him..." his voice trailed off unable to find the right words to complete his sentence. He gestured with his hands toward the dining room where Carson sat. "I can't watch it. Maybe after some time passes but right now I can't look at you and he...and...and..." Iggy's mind was in confusion as he tried to understand his father's words, "And what? What do you mean?" He watched as his mother rushed over to him and his dad. "We weren't doing anything." "You were holding his hand." His father sputtered in frustration. "What's going on?" Paola asked as she wiped her hands on her apron. Francisco's face was a mask of frustration and anger as he turned toward his wife, "I don't want it in my restaurant, Paola" he said. He turned to his son, "I am trying to understand who you are and what it represents but I don't know if I can." He was being honest with his family. He threw up his hands, "Este muchacho con mi mijito..." (This boy with my son!) "But Papi we always show respect to gay couples when they come here to eat. What's the difference between those couples and Carson and me?" His father remained silent. "You are my son," he finally replied after a few seconds. At that moment Iggy felt sorry for his father. He knew that the concept of two males being attracted to each other was very foreign to him. Iggy glanced at his mother, "I have to get back to Carson. Can we talk about this later? I don't want to have him wait." His mother nodded at her son. Iggy left the kitchen and returned to the table. Carson looked at his friend as he sat down. "Is everything okay?," he asked with a concern in his voice. Iggy released a huge sigh, "I don't know." A look of worry crossed his face. "My dad saw us holding hands and he kinda freaked out." Carson began to stand but Iggy placed his hand on his to stop him. "I should go. I don't want to cause trouble with your dad.." He pulled his hand away from Iggy. "No! Please don't go," he also stood. "He just needs time to adjust to having a gay son." " I know the feeling," Carson said before he realized it. "What do you mean?" "Well, I'm just saying that I'm new to all this too. I don't know what it means to be "gay". I've never really had these feeling s before." He looked at Iggy with sad eyes. "Iggy, try to understand. I don't know if I'm gay. Maybe it's just infatuation. Maybe it's just teenage hormones. I don't know." He looked at Iggy and shook his head. "Maybe this is wrong, I don't know." Carson felt a huge relief sharing his feelings with Iggy. He was confused and he didn't want to hide any from Iggy especially his own feelings. "You think this is wrong?" Iggy was hurt but he was also he began to get angry. " Do you think that I want to be gay? Do you think I'm a mistake, Carson?" he said as he pointed a finger at his own chest. "Do you think that I woke up one day and said to myself, I think I'll be gay?" Iggy's heart began to beat a bit faster. He shook his head, "That's not how it works. I was born this way. And if I'm right, you were born this way too!" He took a breath of air, "I didn't CHOSE' to be gay. Believe me, this wasn't a choice." His body trembled with emotions. "And if that's what you think, than fuck you!" Iggy sat down, "Maybe you should go," he said in a strained voice. "I'm sorry Iggy." Carson turned and began walking quickly towards the exit. He tried to leave before anyone could see the tears that were beginning to form in his eyes. Sitting in his truck he wiped the tears away from his eyes. He sadly looked back at the restaurant. He released a huge sigh, started the truck and drove away. In the restaurant Iggy shed his own tears as he watched Carson drive away. *** Over the weekend Iggy didn't hear from Carson and he was too afraid to call him. He was torn up the way he left things with him. At first he was angry. But after thinking it through he understood what Carson was going through. He himself had battled with his feeling before realizing that he was indeed gay. He spent the weekend trying to concentrate of his school work and also throwing himself into his work at the restaurant. His mother saw the change in her son's demeanor and was a bit worried about him. She tried to talk to him about what had happened but he didn't want to talk about his problems. Paola was worried. She didn't want to see her son shut himself off from his family. Iggy really hadn't spoken to his father since the episode with Carson. It was hard for him to stay away from him but he needed to show him that despite his wish that Iggy were straight, it wasn't fact. If keeping his distance from his father would help realize his son was gay then Iggy had to try his best to help his father understand. Several times over the weekend Iggy wanted to call and talk to Carson. His own stubborn pride and a bit of fear stopped him from taking the first step towards reconciliation. Procrastination won out and Iggy decided to wait until Monday at school to speak with Carson. *** Monday morning finally came as Iggy woke up in bed. His teenage body was tired. His sleep was interrupted with dreams of the incident that happened at the restaurant. He still hadn't spoken to his dad and he hated to see his relationship with him being strained. He also didn't want to face Carson but he knew that even if Carson rejected him at least he would have some kind of closure. He could have this chapter end in his life. He drug himself from bed and headed to the shower. *** Walking into school Iggy headed for his homeroom. As he walked through the halls of the high school he wondered if he would see Carson. He knew his schedule but fear stopped him from seeking him out. He made a bee line for his homeroom to start the day. Lunch time was when he finally spotted Carson. He was sitting at the wrestler's lunch table surrounded by his team mates. He was laughing and joining in on the conversation with his friends. Iggy suddenly felt alone. He wanted to go over there and talk with him but he was afraid to try to attempt any dialog while Carson was with his friends. He knew that if he were to have a chance with him that he would need to give him his space. He stood in line for his lunch. He was carrying his tray and headed to join his friends when he locked eyes with Carson. For the briefest moment there was a slight smile on Carson's face and then it was gone. Iggy felt his heart skip a beat as he continued to walk. Suddenly he tripped and went down. He landed on his tray of food and was covered in meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy. Laughter erupted from the other students in the cafeteria. He was stunned and embarrassed as he lay on the floor. He finally lifted himself off the floor and began to wipe the food from his clothes. "Watch where you're going faggot!" Scott Morgan snickered. He fist bumped his buddy. "Travis Berry says hello." He laughed. With everything that was happening with Carson and now this Iggy felt helpless. He glanced at the still sitting Carson. Carson quickly lowered his head. Iggy felt like crying. He quickly stood, turned away from the laughing crowd and ran toward the restroom. He didn't want anyone to see the tears that were forming. He finally made it to the restroom and the tears of anger started to flow down his face. He looked in the mirror and saw himself covered in food. He felt humiliated. He hated that he didn't say anything to Morgan. He felt as if he had lost this battle. Score one for Travis Berry. He turned on the water and grabbed some paper towels from the dispenser. Suddenly the door opened and Paul and Sam rushed into the restroom. "Are you okay? We saw what happened from across the room. Scott Morgan tripped you!" Iggy quickly splashed water onto his face to hide the tears. "I wasn't paying attention. I should have seen it coming." "What are you going to do about it?" Paul asked as he watched his best friend clean the food from his clothes and face. "So, this is what the boys room looks like, I always wondered." Sam said as she looked around the room. "Saaam, will you please focus!" Paul exclaimed. We have a crisis here." Despite what just happened Iggy giggled. He looked at Sam, "First time in the boys room?" Sam smiled, "Yes, first time!" she laughed. "C'mon, you guys! What are you going to do Iggy?" Paul asked. "I can't do anything. I don't want to get in trouble again. They would probably suspend me." "Well, we can't just let him get away with this. You need to do something. The whole school saw it." Iggy finished the cleaning of his clothes and turned to his friend. His parents had always taught him to be fair to others. He wanted to get back at Berry and Morgan but he also didn't want any harm to come to them. He was taught the "Golden Rule" by them and wanted to honor them. "These things always seems to work themselves out. Let's just wait and see." Paul looked confused as he shook his head, "Okay, but it's your funeral." "Do you have any other clothes here? I really don't want to walk around smelling like gravy." "Yeah I have an extra shirt in my gym locker." Do you mind? Iggy asked. "Not at all. You know my combo. Just bring it back when you get the chance. "Cool, thanks Paul" He fist bumped his friend and the trio walked out of the restroom. He said goodbye to Paul and Sam and started towards the gym. He avoided looking around the room as he made his way to the nearest exit. *** Carson watched from his seat as Iggy left the cafeteria. He wanted to kick Morgan's ass from what he had done to Iggy. But he also didn't want it to seem that he was protecting him. He saw the hurt look on his face when their eyes met. He wanted to run to him and lift him up. To be the protector of the guy he thought he loved but fear stopped him. *** After the last bell Iggy made this way to the office. He had to make sure that Carson had turned in his progress reports. Mondays were always hectic in the office due to the fact that all the progress reports were due before 2PM. He entered to see Mrs. Brown behind the counter. "Hey Mrs. B. I've come to check if Carson Andrews turned in his progress report for last week." She smiled as she acknowledged him, "Well, hello there yourself. Let me check and see if I can find it. " She checked the file folders on her desk and finally pulled Carson's file from the stack. She opened the file, Yes, it's here." Her face frowned, "This is strange." She looked up from to the file and met Iggy's eyes. "There's a note here stating that Mr. Andrews wants a different tutor." She looked at Iggy and saw the look of confusion on his face. "Iggy, I thought you two were getting along. And Mr. Andrews' grades seemed to be improving. Did something happen between you two? Iggy looked down at the floor. He didn't know how to answer her. Should he tell her the truth? Should he tell her that he and Carson had a fight? It really wasn't a fight. He had gotten angry with Carson. This was all his fault. He was the reason Carson had left. He was the reason that Carson didn't want to have anything to do with him. "He and I..." As hard as he tried to keep the tears from welling up in his eyes he couldn't hide the hurt he was feeling. "It's all my fault. I was angry and said hurtful things to him." Mrs. Brown came around from her work station. She drew Iggy into her arms. "Shh now. It will be okay. I'm sure you can fix whatever happened between you two. " Iggy shook his head, "I don't know if I can fix this. It's all my fault." Mrs. Brown continued to hug him, "It may seem that way now but I'm sure things will turn around. You need to talk to him and try to work things out. I know you like him more than just a friend." Iggy stepped away from her hug and looked at her with a surprised expression on his face, "You know?" "It's not hard to see that you feel more for this boy than just friendship. I can see that you care deeply for him." He nodded his head, "I do, I really do. But I think I messed everything up." "I know it may seem that way now but you won't know until you talk to him." She smiled at him, "Now, wash your face and go see him. Talk to him. Tell him how you feel." A smile lit Iggy's face as he smiled. He quickly left the office and Mrs. Brown. He needed to resolve this and he needed to talk with Carson. *** Parker Andrews left the locker room after a grueling practice session. During practice he hadn't seen his big brother. He wondered if he had finally shown up to give him a ride home. He looked and saw his brother's truck sitting in the parking lot. He saw himsitting behind the wheel lost in his own thoughts. He knew something was wrong when he opened the door and took a seat. Carson didn't even look at him. "Hey, what's going on?" he asked. "Hey, how was practice?" "The coach was a total ass. He worked us hard today." Carson didn't respond to his brother. He started the truck and began the drive home. They drove for about five minutes before Parker finally couldn't take the silence, "Carson, what's wrong? Is everything okay?" His brother didn't seem to hear him and he repeated his question, "Carson! What's wrong?!" Finally Carson was pulled out of his thoughts, "Sorry bro, I just have something on my mind." He tried to smile at his brother but he didn't convince Parker. "Okay, spill it. What happened?" Parker tried to pry the information from his older brother. "Nothing's happened. Just drop it," he answered. "You sure everything is okay? Did something happen at school?" "Let's just get home." Carson said shutting down the conversation. Parker was worried. *** They walked into the silent house. "Do you want anything to eat?" Parker asked. "No I'm good. I'm going downstairs to work out. I'll see you later." Carson didn't wait for his brother to answer. He left him standing in the kitchen and went down into the basement. He quickly changed into a pair of red Under Armour compression shorts and a gray muscle shirt. He began to stretch as he replayed the day's events in his mind. Again he was haunted by what happened in the school cafeteria. He wished that things had happened differently. He wished that he had gone to Iggy when he was tripped. He regretted not taking care of Scott Morgan once and for all. He started getting angry at himself. He began to work the weights harder. He worked out his frustration with the weights. He was starting to feel the anger finally leave his body when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. He stopped when he saw his brother standing at the bottom of the stairs. "You have company." "Who is it?" "It's your tutor, Iggy." he looked at his brother. "He says that he needs to see you. He says that it's very important." Carson looked at his brother. He knew that he needed to talk with Iggy. He wished he had more time to gather his thoughts. "Thanks, send him down." Parker turned and headed back up the stairs. Carson found a towel and began to wipe away the sweat from his body. He took off his shirt and wiped down his chest. As he was slipping into a dry tank top he heard footsteps on the stairs. He looked and saw Iggy coming down. He stood still as he watched him enter the room. His breath caught in his throat. His heart began to beat faster. Their eyes met and once again Carson was drawn into his beauty. *** Iggy walked down the steps and the first thing he noticed was Carson's smell. He filled his nostrils with the familiar scent. When he reached the bottom of the stairs he looked at the boy that he had hurt and pushed away. He liked the tight shorts that hugged Carson's lower body. The tank top revealed his strong muscular arms caused a stirring in Iggy's stomach. He felt his shorts get a little tight. 'Okay you need to stop lusting after this boy,' he thought. 'Get it together. You need to talk with him about the other day.' "Hey," was the only greeting he used as he walked closer to Carson. Carson emitted a low whispered "Hey" in response. "I went to the office after school and Mrs. Brown said that you requested a different tutor," he said as he looked into Carson's blue eyes. "May I ask why?" Iggy looked down. "I just thought that it would be better if we moved on." Carson struggled to keep his emotions under control. He looked at him as he lifted his head and looked into his eyes. He saw the hurt in them and it killed him that he was the cause. He knew he was doing the right thing. He didn't want to hurt him anymore with his indecision. "You need to be with someone that knows who he is. Someone that's not confused like me." Now it was Carson's to stare at the floor. His heart was beating a thousand times a minute. It felt like he was going to pass out. Iggy moved closer, "I'm sorry. I was angry and I said some hurtful things." he paused. "I wish I could turn back the clock and re-live that day. But we can't. And just for the record, I don't want anyone else." He moved even closer to Carson. "I know that you're confused and I get it that you don't know what you're feeling. I've been there myself." He reached over and took Carson's hand. "I want you know that I'm here if you need me. If you have questions I'll do my best to answer them. Or if you just want to talk." Iggy lifted his eyes to meet Carson's. He reached for his other hand and held both of them. They drew even closer and their bodies touched. "I really care about you. And I'm sorry but I'm going to keep tutoring you and you are still going to be my fitness trainer." Carson smiled, "You know for a little dude you sure have a big attitude." He smiled as he released his hands, "You know for a jock, you sure have a big head." He laughed. "Oh, I have a big head do I?" he smiled as he drew Iggy closer and wrapped his arms around his body. His body tingled as he felt Iggy's arms surround his own body. "You know something? You really look cute covered in food." They both laughed. "Are you sure about this?" he asked as he was pulled into Carson's body. There was silence in the room as they smiled at one another. Their smiles faded as their lips were drawn together. Carson caressed his cheek as he kissed him. Iggy released a sigh as he opened his mouth to allow access. Their tongues played together as the kiss heated up. Carson jumped a little when he felt Iggy's hands on his ass. The thin material of his shorts hardly could hold him in as his teenage cock stiffened. Iggy continued to rub the spandex covered butt, he loved the way the material felt against his hands. He squeezed Carson's butt as his bit on his lower lip. The two teens pulled away. Carson looked into Iggy's eyes, "Does that answer your question?" Iggy nodded his head as if in a trance. Once again their lips met in a passionate kiss. "Any more questions?" Carson asked. Iggy shook his head, "I think you've answered them all." "Well, I have one. What the hell is going on here?" They both turned to see Parker standing at the bottom of the stairs with his arms crossed. "I'm waiting." *** Well, dear readers thank you! I hope you enjoyed this chapter of A High School Tale. I really don't like Scott Morgan and Travis Berry. Stay tuned for the next chapter.
