This story is mostly fiction, and the likeliness of a character to a real person is strictly coincidence. Do not copy/reproduce without the author's permission. The Lacrosse Player Chap. VI The ball was midair, I shuffled and returned, sending it back across mid-court. My opponent, Alexey Taylor, swung a backhand that shot it across at me. The two of us had begun our round with a steady volley, and it kept increasing in speed. We had managed to keep the ball in play for one of the longest times on school record. As he swung in a two handed backhand, the ball shot directly toward me, bouncing off the court into my racket. I fired, and shot it just off the edge of his racket as he swung, and the ball bounced out. The academy's side went wild, and Alexey walked to the net to shake my hand. "Nice round." He said, wiping the sweat from his face. "You too." I replied, shaking his hand and slapping him on the back. I walked back to our bench as the crowd began to disperse. Coach Ponricci gave me a hug as I threw my racket down to the bench. "That was amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a round that long." "That was something." I replied between breaths. "Hey, Mr. Yarmouth told me about what happened this afternoon." "Yeah..that." "No, don't be upset about it- you're the first person who's kicked Mr. McManus's ass in this building." He chuckled. "I'm glad the bastard is gone." I laughed at his choice of words, and headed toward the lockers. As I walked over to the doors, I saw Trev in the bleachers above, his feet on the railing. "Where are you off to?" He asked, peering down at me. "Showers." I replied, blocking the sun from my eyes as I looked up at him. "Mind if I join you?" "Do you even have to ask?" I replied, helping him down as he jumped from bleacher to bleacher. We walked into the room, sitting on the benches as the showers and lockers cleared out, leaving just us. I stood up and reached for my towel, and Trev checked the stacks to see if anyone was still there. As I turned to head toward the shower, I was met by Trev, who grabbed my face with both hands, and pressed his lips to mine lightly, slowly applying more pressure with each second, until he thrust his tounge at mine. His hands fell down my shoulders and around my waist, grabbing my shirt and pulling it high over our heads. I clasped his hands while they were in the air, and we stumbled against a locker, laughing while we kissed. "You, my friend, smell of musk and sweat." He said, loosening his grip on my waist. He directed me closer to the showers, and I slipped off his shirt as we entered the room. "That's why I'm here." I replied, biting his ear. "That's not the only reason." I pulled my shorts and undershorts off and tossed them into the locker stack. "Fuckin' A." He said, rubbing his hand down my thigh. "You're so damn pefect. His hand came back up and ran up the bottom my dick pressing it into my stomach, causing me to dig my nails into his neck harder than I already was. "Easy, man." I panted. "Sorry..that felt so damn good." "You mean this?" He did it again. "Shit.." I whispered into his ear I reached around and pulled the shower handle down, spraying cold water all over us, drenching his shorts. "You bastard.." He said, laughing. "Now they're see-through. I'm always working to my advantage." I replied. "What, you think I needed to keep my shorts on?" He slid them down his leg and tossed them. "I like this much better.." I whispered, our dicks touching one another at the ends. He was amazing...tan and smooth, his pubic hair trimmed short, his dick hanging about six and a half inches. I scanned his body and looked back up into his eyes, a wide grin on his face, and his soaking wet hair hanging haphazardly partway down his forehead. He grabbed the shampoo bottle and squirted some in my hair, and began to slowly lather it with his hands. Suddenly, he stopped and looked straight at me. "Boy, are we a couple of homos." I tried to surpress a smile, but we both broke out laughing, collapsing into each other's arms. "Yeah...I guess so." I replied. "You and Bryce made us all proud today, I hear." "Yeah, I guess we managed to accomplish something." "Yeah you accomplished something...not only did you get a teacher fired...you mentally beat the shit out of a bigot. You didn't even fire a shot and he ended up bloody....his self-esteem will forever be tainted with the fact that he was beaten up by a, how did he put it... 'pansy'." He chuckled and pressed his cheek against mine. "Oh...I found out that......no, nevermind." I cut myself off. "What? What did you find out?" He slowly began to push me into the corner of the shower room. I laughed, and tried to gain my footing on the slippery floor. "Nothing, it was nothing." "Oh yeah?" He slipped his hands under my arms, one of the most ticklish parts on my body. "Ok, ok, ok." I pleaded for him to stop as I cried with laughter. "James and Jon." He released his grip and backed up. "Are, uh...gay." "No way. Jaime? Jon?." He asked rhetorically. "Yeah...but I wasn't supposed to tell anyone at all." "Don't worry...I kinda feel their situation also...you know." He smiled. "So how'd you find this out?" "I saw Jon after we had the scuffle with McManus. He was sitting outside the gym, and heard the commotion, and he brought up the fact that he knew that you and I were gay too." "Dammit. What else?" "He just said that he'd been approached and threatened by McManus before- when he and Jaime had been at the pool." "Did he hit them?" "No...just threatened to." I replied, shutting the water off. "So it was then that he told me...he said he couldn't hold it in anymore." "He's a good man." Trev said, grabbing a towel. "When he knows what to do, he does it and doesn't hesitate." "We're not alone here anymore." I replied, interrupting Trev. "We've finally got people to connect with." "You want to talk to Jon about it first? I mean, since you weren't supposed to tell me in the first place, then we can see if they want to get together and chat about it sometime." "I'm gonna have to do that. They're our only outlet." We finished up in the showers, and after getting dressed, I headed up to Mr. Yarmouth's office. Inside, waited Mr. Yarmouth himself, the school councilor, Mrs. Prescott, and a sheriff's deputy. "Hey, Evan. Thanks for coming." Mr. Yarmouth stood up and welcomed me. "How long have you guys been waiting?" I asked, rubbing my head, feeling the last bit of moisture left in it. "Not long, ten minutes maybe. Sit down." I took a seat in front of the desk. The deputy was across the desk in a chair next to Mr. Yarmouth's, and Mrs. Prescott leaned against the wall behind me. "Evan, this is Deputy Wimmer." The deputy nodded at me. "He's got some questions here for you." Wimmer cleared his throat and began down the list, which started off with the usual who, where, and when. After those began the more in depth questions. "What did Mr. McManus mean by those names?" I looked up and Mr. Yarmouth, who was standing to my right. "I'll, eh, just be outside." He said as he walked out the door. "I don't know." I replied. "I guess he doesn't feel a relationship between friends should be more than a handshake once and a while." "So you're saying there was no visible reason why he should've called you those names?" Wimmer asked, leaning forward, tapping his pen. "I can't see any." Wimmer sighed. "You know, we can turn this into a hate crime charge, if you told us the truth." I hesitated for a moment, and just before I was about to speak, Mrs. Prescott set a hand on my shoulder. "Could you give us a second, deputy?" She paused as she watched him walk out. "Evan, I know this has got to be tough." I stared at her. "But I want you to know, you can confide in me. You always have, and I hope you always will." I coughed. "I don't want public embarrasment. If I tell the officer what he wants to hear, it'll get out and the entire community will know." "This is true. I'm not pushing you towards anything, so just decide what you want to do. What would Trevor want you to do?" Christ, was it so apparent that even the councilor knew? "You can call him back in here." I told her. She went to the door and pulled it open. Wimmer walked back in and took a seat. "You ready now?" He asked. "Yeah. My story is the same as before- I have no idea why he would call me those names." He ran through several more questions about Mr. McManus's previous behavior with me, and when he was finished, I signed the sheet, and he was on his way back to the station. "Remember to stop in my office if you have any questions." Mrs. Prescott smiled at me as I left. "I'll do that." I replied, hurrying my walk. By the time I walked by the cafeteria, students were lining up for dinner, so I walked in and fell in behind Bryce. "Hey, how was the interrogation?" He asked, holding his tray out to the cook. "Just fine. Nothing too tough." I replied, grabbing a tray and silverware. Bryce looked down at the meat the cook had slapped on his tray. "Mmm..Tuesday mystery meat. Hey, Mr. Brown, what is this exactly?" "I don't work in the factory, Dalasky. I've got just about the same idea of what it is that you do." The cook replied. "You know, I haven't seen that cat that's been hanging around the outside of the cafeteria lately." Bryce said. The cook just stared blankly at him. "Geesh...tough crowd around here." "Keep moving Dalasky, you're holding up my line." After both of us had left the line, we searched for a table, looking over the bustling throngs of people. Across the room, Jacoby was waving at us. "Evan, there's Jacoby." He pointed, and we walked over. "I think I'll sit with you guys today." "Fine with me, Bryce." I replied, pulling up a chair. Jacoby slapped me on the back. "Beautiful work today man." He said, mouth full of food. "Nothing like getting a staff member's ass thrown out of the building to brighten your day." "This is true." I replied. Jacoby took a bite out of the meat and a disgusted look came across his face. "Does anyone know what the hell this is?" He asked, letting some fall out of his mouth. "Cat." Bryce and I both replied at the same time. Jacoby arched an eyebrow. "Wouldn't surprise me in the least bit." Later, Trev showed up at dinner and we shot the shit until the cafeteria closed down for the night. I had some homework and finished that as Jacoby was readying for bed. "By the way, that was a great match today." "That was a lot of fun. Alexey is pretty damn good." "You're right about that. Not to try to change the subject, but why did Mr. McManus attack you?" He pulled his covers up and laid on his side, looking towards me. "I don't know. He came up to me, threw a couple words out, and swung. Dude, I've answered questions about it all day." "Ok, ok. It's fine. I'll see you in the morning." With that, he rolled over and faced the wall, and drifted off to sleep. Within minutes, I had dragged myself into bed, and was soon on my way to the subconcious world. "Can anybody tell me how the two main political parties of this nation have become so distrustworthy with the voters?" Dr. Martin, our government teacher asked. I slowly raised my head off of the desk. It felt like I had been sleeping for days...the Wednesday and Thursday had been a blur of fast moving classes and tests, and Friday was almost over- Government was the last class of the day. "How 'bout you, Mr. Laurent? You seem to be enjoying the class thouroughly." The class laughed. "Just tired sir." "Well now is not the time to be so." "I can answer that one though," I rubbed my eyes. "Well please do." "The parties have, through the past years, put people into power that have abused that power, made horrible mistakes, and have tarnished the images of those parties." "Very good...surprising a Republican could admit that." As he finished, the bell rang. "Remember to read chapter 15, on deceptive campaigning by Monday." He yelled over the crowd as we all rushed out. As I walked out, Trev was coming out of the classroom across the hall, and he gave a little wave. "Hey buddy." He whispered. "What time are we leaving tommorow?" We stopped at his locker before heading to mine. "I don't know....maybe around 9:00. It'll take about six hours to get there." "Mmm...sounds great." "And we'll probably stop to eat for a while on the way up.." "Fantastic. Some little hometown diner?" He rubbed his leg on my thigh. "Always the best." I replied. "Remember, we've also got to stop at my parent's house for the key." "I've never really met them before...just said 'hi' here and there." "Well you'll definitely get the chance now." I replied. Later that night, after dinner had been served, Trev and I hung out in his dorm, and Jacoby tagged along. "So, what all do I need to bring?" Trev asked, pulling an overnight bag out of his closet. "Whatever you think. Probably just the overnights...it's a fully functioning house, so it's not like we'll be roughing it." His grin grew even wider than it had been. "Most excellent." Jacoby's alarm sounded at 8:00 in the morning. As I rose, people, like usual, were playing out on the fields, and some were on the beach. Before I went to bed, I'd moved my bag near the door, but it and my running shoes were gone. I jumped out of bed and shuffled across the room to the window, looking out over the ocean and reaching for the ceiling, stretching, letting that feeling flow through my body. I looked over at Jacoby, who was still asleep, sprawled out on top of his covers. 'Damn...' I thought. 'he's not bad at all..'. The sun was reflecting off his skin, and his defined muscles could easily be seen as he tossed and turned. As I watched him, the door creaked, and Trev's head poked through the door. A feeling of guilt washed over me. "Morning..." He said. "Aah...good morning." "I took your stuff down to the car...it's all loaded and ready to go." "Great...you have breakfast yet?" I asked, rubbing my eyes. "Not yet...waiting for you." "Ok...I'll get dressed." "Take your time...we've got some time to waste." I slipped into a pair of shorts and a baby blue polo, and right before we left, I quietly walked over to Jacoby, who's head was buried in his pillow. I cupped my mouth. "Daylight in the swamp!!" I yelled. He jumped up and smacked his head on the ceiling. "Dammit Evan!" "You'll never be able to stop me." I replied. "Would do no good to try and stop you. You guys leaving now?" He asked, rubbing his eyes. "After breakfast." Trev replied. "Have a good weekend...I'm sure you will." After giving him a glare due to his last remark, we walked down to the cafeteria. We went through the line and swept up plates of waffles and sausages. As we entered the cafeteria, we found that Jaime, Jon, Jack, and Bryce had already grabbed a table and were mowing down pancakes. "'Morning fellas." Jaime said. "Hey everybody." Trev replied. "So, you guys heading off?" Jack asked. "In a half-hour or so." I replied. "What'cha gonna do up there?" Jon asked. "Well....hang out...do some running..you know." I shot back. Jon let out a little smile and slightly arched an eyebrow. "Sure....I'm sure it'll go well." Trev and I both quietly cleared our throats and looked at each other through the corners of our eyes. "Hey Evan, when you get back, I gotta talk to you some more...bout the thing." "Uh, sure." I replied. "Just stop by sometime Sunday. I've been meaning to chat with you too." "Good. I'll do that." We finished quickly, and decided it was time to get the hell out of there before something happened, or something was mentioned. We checked out at the office and waltzed out the front doors, met by a stiff sea breeze. "Keeps the temperature down though..." Trev said, the wind tossing his hair. "This is going to be great." He continued as we got into his car. "If you know what I mean." "Oh..trust me...I've got an idea." I replied. As we pulled out, I reached over and tossed his hair a bit, teasing him. He smiled and reached over and set his hand on my thigh, squeezing it. He left his hand there. "I've got a pretty good idea." I repeated. To be continued How's the story going?
