My email: all-star07@hotmail.com Prologue: It was 2 o'clock on Sunday, and Brian was busily running around his home trying to gather the things he needed so he could be on his way. He was already running late and things this morning weren't going so well. He was meeting his boyfriend, Chris for some `surprise' down at the coffee hut on 3rd. Truth be told, Brian really didn't like surprises at all, considering they always seemed to end badly in one way or another. But Chris sounded insistent and serious about meeting him so he decided to go. Brian was a 25 year old guy, average height, short brown hair, a good figured body, and a great personality. Since he left college, he's been an aspiring singer, struggling in his apartment while trying to catch a big break. He had been dating Chris for about a month and a half. Their two month anniversary was coming up soon and Brian was a little hesitant. The problem with Brian was that ever since he started dating, he has never been able to staying a relationship for more than two months. Every time that two month mark came up on his calendar, the guy he would be dating at the time would break up with him. He knew the problem had to be with him. He heard all the excuses; `It's not you, it's me', `I'm not emotionally ready for a relationship right now', or his personal favorite `You're too good for me, I don't deserve you.' Never did it occur to him that today would be any different. Brian parked his car on the curb, not so well actually. Parallel parking has always been a problem for him, as well as every other person in America. The rain was coming down hard, practically typhoon weather outside, but that's what you get when you live in Oregon. He ran into Starbucks and was already soaked to the bone before he got inside. In an instant he spotted Chris sitting by himself in the corner window, or at least Brian thought he was by himself. Hesitantly, he made his way over to him. "Hey." He said. "Hey Brian, you made it." "Yeah, sorry I'm late, had some trouble getting out of the apartment on time." "It's okay." Chris said. He hadn't even gotten up to kiss him; he hadn't even reached for his hand. Brian already didn't feel comfortable right now. "Oh, sorry, this is Danny." Chris said as he nodded towards the other person sitting with him. Up till that point, the stranger sitting with Chris hadn't even turn to acknowledge Brian, but now that he was introduced, he turned around, offered a smile and shook Brian's hand. Damn, this kid couldn't be more than 19. "Nice to meet you." He said. Wish I could say the same. "Nice to meet you too." "Uh Danny, can you leave us alone for a second, I need to talk to Brian." "Sure." Danny got up and walked to the other end of the shop. Brian took his seat. "Okay, what's up?" "What do you mean?" "You know what I mean Chris, you call me down hear for some surprise, and I get here and you act like you don't me around and to top it all off, you're sitting here chatting it up with some kid." Chris looked down, took a breath and met Brian's gaze. He was tense and nervous about something. "This isn't working out." He said. "What?" "I uh...I don't think we should..." "Oh my god." I said. "You can't be serious." Chris just looked down. "For that? You're dumping me for that!? For some kid?" "Brian, it isn't like that." "Really? Well why don't you explain." "It's just...we're different people now Brian, we're not the same as we were when we first met. I really think it would be best for us to just move on." Brian just stared at him in disbelief. "Brian, I'm sorry...but it's over." "Spare me the bull shit, Chris. You're not sorry. If you don't want to be with me anymore than just say it, don't fucking beat around the bush and make shit up alright? Have a little dignity, be a man, stop telling me what I want to hear!" "Shhh..." Chris began. "Brian, please don't make a scene..." "A scene! You want a scene, Chris? Well how about this!" Brian stood and with one quick motion, landed a punch right into Chris's eye. Chris was bent over, whining in pain as Danny ran to comfort him. Brian just stood up and walked to his car, and drove away. When he got to his apartment, he poured himself a drink, took a seat on the couch and just stared out over his balcony. The whole situation with Chris didn't bother him like you think it should have. Brian had been dumped so many times, that it just wasn't worth crying over. Why me? Brian wondered as he took a drink. He sat there puzzling, finally came to the conclusion that true love was only existent in fairy tales. It would never happen to him. Little did he know that the man he was going to meet would change his life forever. Author's Note: Thanks for reading the prologue of the story. I won't write another chapter till I get some feedback from readers telling me if this sounds like a story worth writing.
