It is greatly appreciated. Now just sit back and enjoy! The Cabin by the Lake Chapter 9 On the way back to the lake, Dennis noticed that something was not right with Stan and Terry. Terry had the look of doom and gloom written all over him. Stan had a certain glow and the look of happiness. They even sat in different seats which was very unusual. Dennis wanted to shout, "Ok, guys out with it. What is bothering the two of you?" He decided to wait and let Terry and Stan tell him what was wrong. This was probably just a lover's quarrel and would be over in a couple of days. Kyle was receiving the same vibs and was very concerned that something drastic was wrong. Dennis drove the snowcat to the Bed and Breakfast and helped Richard and Loretta unload their things. They appeared to the happy to be home and told the boys to come for dinner tomorrow so they could talk about their grandchildren and their trip. They also wanted to hear how Kyle and Dennis survived on their own. The boys drove over to Stan and Terry's place. Stan did not have any luggage. He got out of the snowcat, without saying a word and rushed into the house . Terry just sat in the snowcat and started sobbing. Kyle and Dennis were by his side immediately. They both knew that something serious had happened but right now they just wanted to hold Terry and let him know that they were there for him. After a couple of minutes, Terry started talking. "Boys, you don't know how I appreciate having you both here by my side. I just don't think I have the courage, desire, or strength to go on. I am just about at the end of my rope. I just want it all to end." "Terry, I think the best thing for you right now is to get everything off your chest and out in the open. I know something serious has happened between you and Stan. I would guess that you two have split. Am I right?" asked Kyle. "Yes, you are! Stan is in the house getting his belonging together and will be leaving very soon. I'm not going to go into details. I'll leave that to Stan. He is the one to blame and must take the responsibility for his rotten actions. We stopped in Bend and filed to have our domestic partnership dissolved. It is over between us. Kyle, would you take him back to the parking lot. I don't want to be around and see him leave. Dennis, would you mind me walking to your house? I will wait there until he is completely gone." "Terry, you are in no condition to be by yourself. I will walk with you and stay at the house until Kyle leaves. Then I want you to stay in the big house with us for a few days. Somehow, we will get you through all of this. Shall we go? Kyle, just leave Terry's things in the snowcat and we can take care of them later. See you when you return," Dennis said. "Thanks, Kyle. I owe you boys a big one." said Terry. Dennis and Terry were almost to the big house, when the snowcat pulled beside them. Stan rolled his window down, "Terry, I would at least like to say good-bye. May I get out?" "No, I have said all I am going to say. Just get out of my sight and leave me alone. I should get a gun and put you in the ground where you belong!" Terry shouted! "Kyle, I think you had better be going before we have a real crisis on our hands. I'll see you when you get back." said Dennis. The snowcat pulled out of sight and Terry collapsed and fell into the snow bank. Dennis was at his side immediately and was trying to help him up. "Leave me alone, I just want to die. I will just stay here in the snow and it will all be over in a few hours." "Terry, I am not going to leave you. I will just lie here with you and we can both freeze to death, together. That is much better than dying alone. Now come on and let me help you into the house!" Dennis finally got Terry on his feet and half carried him into the house. Dennis threw a log in the fireplace and went to the kitchen and made a hot buttered rum for each of them. "Terry, here drink this. It'll give you a nice warm feeling inside and make your cheeks rosy red. I know that you don't drink alcohol and neither do I. Tonight, I think that a drink may help take the raw edge off the both of us." "Dennis, when did you learn to be a bartender?" "You must remember that I am not a little boy. I have grown up since I came here." "I know! Just having you here has made me feel good on the inside. I think I can talk about what has happen between Stan and me." "Just take your time. If you need to take a break, then we will. We have all night. Kyle will be back soon. Is someone going to meet Stan at the parking lot?" "Yes, his new lover!" "I thought this may be the case. I am all ears, if you want to tell me about it. Just remember, I am not trying to pry. You can tell me it is none of my business, if you want but I would like to know what is causing all this trouble and sorrow. If I am going to help you over the hurdles, I need to know what is happening . Together we will figure out a way for you to cope with your loss. I think maybe we should wait until Kyle returns. He also needs to know also." "This problem has nothing to do with you and Kyle. You don't have to get involved. I will be out of here in a couple of days." "Not going to happen. This is also our problem, also. You have been a big brother to Kyle and me and it is time that we help big brother. You have done so much for us and it is time for us to do something for you. I don't want to hear any more about you leaving. Love you, man." Terry completely lost it and started shaking and sobbing uncontrollably. Dennis just sat held Terry in his arms. "Kyle will be back soon. Terry, have you eaten anything today? I thought so. Why don't we go into the kitchen, find something for a snack and put on a pot of coffee? We have some roast beef in the frig and Kyle and I made a big blackberry cobbler this afternoon," Dennis said hoping to relieve some of the pressure Terry had built up. Kyle returned and went into the kitchen. He could feel the tension in the room. He was completely in the dark and couldn't figure out what had happened. "So did Stan tell you a lot of lies about what is going on between us?" Terry asked sarcastically. "Just the opposite. I bet he didn't say ten words during the whole trip. He avoided my efforts to have a conservation. Terry, don't forget that I have been in the same situation as you. I tried doing the same thing that you and Stan are doing. I refused to talk to anyone, even my mom and dad. I kept everything all bottled up inside me and it almost killed me. I was at a point of committing suicide when a girl in one of my classes wouldn't take no for an answer and got me talking. She did not try to pry but just offered me a shoulder to cry on and listen to me. She was there for me. Now Dennis and I are here for you when you are ready. We won't try to force you. This is something you will have to decide for yourself," Kyle said softly and giving comfort to Terry. "Terry, my dad finally had to resign even after he has been in counseling all this time. He just couldn't cope with his loss. As Kyle said, we each have two shoulders for you to cry on." Dennis said choking back the tears. "He is on a long, worldwide trip right now with his aunt and uncle. I think the best thing for you to do is move into this house with us. You don`t need a lot of memories staring at you all the time." "I think I should just get some of my things and move to parts unknown. You two have enough to do just running Wilderness Experience without an extra burden. I have heard that one can lose one's self in Alaska. So I just may go there and get lost!" "Forget it, Buddy. Dennis and I are in this for the long haul. I know that we don't have any control over you. If push comes to shove, we will put a ball and chain on you permanently and throw the key away. So don't fight us, just work with us. Somehow, someway, we will try to smooth out some of the rough spots and help you climb the highest mountain or swim the deepest river ." Kyle said. "Every thing happens for a reason. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand why things happen. As Kyle said, we will try everything in our powersto help but we can't do it alone. You have to do your share as well." Dennis said. "I will give you one month and if things are not working out then color me gone! I think you are correct about moving in here with you. I don't think I can even walk through the door of our place, I mean my place. You boys will have to go in and get my things. I can tell you what I want and you can toss all the rest in the lake." Terry said continuing to sob uncontrollably. "I think we need to get a couple more hot buttered rums down you and get you in bed," Dennis said. "I agree with you. I probably won't sleep but I can give it a try. For one thing I am not accustomed to sleeping by myself. I might as well get use to doing it because I have no other choice." said Terry. "You know, Terry, I think we can do something about that little thing. Kyle and I have a super-sized king bed. There will be lots of room for the three of us. We can just put you in the middle and snuggle all night!" exclaimed Dennis. "Only one thing, Dennis and I don't even own a pair of pjs. I for one don't want sleep in my undies. Dennis and I have wondered what kind of equipment you've hiding in your jeans. From the looks of how you fill them out, you must have something to be proud of," grinned Kyle. Terry replied, "I like to sleep in the raw, myself. I must tell you, tonight is just for looking. I have been curious about what you have and I don't think I will be disappointed. I must say you two are good looking studs. I want to make it perfectly clear nothing sexual. The two of you have something special and I can't and won`t come between the two of you, understand?" said Terry. Let' call it a night. I am just about exhausted!" "Terry, I didn't mean to suggest any sexual. I understand that a little look-see and touchy-touchy never hurt anyone," Kyle said grinning from ear to ear. The guys took turns posing for the other two and crawled into bed. "You know Terry, Stan must have been out of his mind to let you go. He must not be a size queen because not many guys would be bigger that you." Dennis said reaching over and giving Terry's pride and joy a little squeeze. "You know sex isn't the only thing in a relationship. Stan and I had a great time in bed. Our problems have been building for about a year now. I think you can easily say that we just fell out of love, or least Stan did. He met a guy the first day we were in Hawaii and moved in with him that first night. You don't know how close I came to buying a gun and shooting both of them. I moved to another island and tried to enjoy what time I had left and but that turned out to be a total flop. We even came home on separate flights. Realty has really set in now. You two are going to have your hands full, and I don't mean like you do now," Terry said. Cuddled in one big ball, soon the three of them fell into a very sound sleep . Terry became more relaxed but did have his bad days. Kyle and Dennis were always by his side and would pull him out of the dumps. They just kept talking and hugging him. Evidently, this was exactly what Terry needed most-a feeling of love, security, and companionship. A change was slowly coming over Terry and he was acting more like his old self. It appeared that he was on the path toward recovery. TBC
