There they went to the hotel where Martin booked a room, and where he got a call from the local agency office manager, who told him he would send one of their men to fetch him. When he was in the agency office, Martin was received by the manager, an elegant sixty year old Englishman with an aristocratic air, whose name was Robert Williams. "Very well, Mr. Martin Leary or Clive Laurent, according to your present documents If you like you can resume your real identity. I don't really think that the Japanese mafia or police can trace you even here, and anyway there is no extradition treaty between Spain and Japan. Anyway, it's up to you to decide. To the agency both identities are absolutely all right. The central office informed me that no safe can resist you, and this would really be useful for us, here in Spain." "I don't know if it is true that no safe can resist me. Anyway, I'm aware I am a good technician, especially if I get adequate assistance, and I know I can be numbered amongst the most skilled ones" "Having read your dossier, I've no difficulty believing you. The only problem concerns your companion. You know that taking him here you broke a strict policy of our agency" "In Tokyo they know my situation very well, and accepted it. Moreover, if it were not for my lover, I would now be lying in a grave, and not sitting here with you. Therefore you can't exactly ask me to leave him. Even though I know very well that if you wanted, I would have to go back to the jail from which you freed me." "If you had to go back to jail, you would still be separated from your companion." "Of course, but not by my choice, not for my will. You can't ask me to leave him even though you can put me in a position that would separate me from him." The man emitted a low sigh, "No it's not our intention to separate you from him it anyway remains the fact that the pacts were clear" "Certainly, I know, I admit it. But but in my opinion there could be a way to to possibly solve this problem." "Do you think so? And what could that be?" "Hire him into your agency, too, and make us work together. He is a really skilled boy, and I don't say so only because he is my lover. If you take information about him" "We already took them, of course. And we know he could have some good cards to play. But what would be the sense to pay two people for a work that you alone can carry out?" "Excuse me; did you ever hear about kin'yoo, that is 'Friday'?" "No unless you are talking about the companion of Robinson Crusoe but I don't think so" Martin smiled, "No, of course Robinson Crusoe has nothing to do with him. Ask our agency in Tokyo if they can send you a dossier about kin'yoo then we will talk again about it." They changed the subject and Williams gave him an apartment downtown, and his usual place as a teacher of English in a private school. Back at the hotel, Martin informed Lee about his meeting, then went to take possession of the apartment where they found, still packaged, his belongings he had in his Rome apartment that the agency delivered there. Then they went to the bank to check if all the money transfers already arrived. As last, they called the warehouse of the transport agency, to ask them to bring what Lee sent from Okinawa and Taiwan to their apartment. While they were settling, Martin also contacted the English school that was quite close to the apartment, to decide his work schedule. They were in Madrid for a few months when the agency contacted Martin for his first mission. As usual the young man met his chief, Williams, who explained to him the conditions of his mission. He had to open the safe in the residence of a rich financier during a party he would hold, and film a set of documents. Martin would be one of the invited guests. The times for his action would be very narrow, and the risk rather high, as the villa was full of guests, service personnel and private security agents. Some men of the agency, who would be amongst the guests, the waiters and the private guards, would back Martin. Martin, after he thoroughly studied the dossier and clarified all its points, asked Williams if he got the dossier about kin'yoo. "Yes, I read it. But I don't see what there could be of interest in a set of robberies of art objects or antiquarian pieces." "Are you aware that the perpetrator of all those robberies has never been discovered, in spite of the fact that the Japanese police is known as the most efficient in the world? And each of those robberies had been executed in places that were highly protected with the most refined and modern technological systems?" "The perpetrator? Here it says it is a band, not just a person. Would you tell me that they all were your work, Mr. Martin?" "No, not my work. But I can assure you that they were all the work of only one person that I know rather intimately." Williams raised one eyebrow and asked, almost lowering his voice, "You are telling me that they all are the work of Mr. Qing, you lover?" Martin smiled. His chief always referred to Lee as his companion, and seemed to have even been hesitant using that very neutral term, and now for the first time he used the term that Martin always used when talking about Lee with Williams - "lover". "Yes, it is exactly so. Now, if you judge me a valuable element, how useful can my Lee be for you, especially if he and I can work together?" Williams nodded slightly, lightly passed a fingertip on his short grey moustache then said, "For this time, you should act alone following the established plan. Anyway I will think about your suggestion. I will ask for more information, I will confer with whom I have to and then we will see. If London agrees, the thing could even be done" Martin was somewhat worried for Lee. For the moment his lover was engrossed by the newness of the beautiful city so full of history, of beautiful museums, of interesting things to see and to discover, but then, when he was past the first enthusiasm, having filled his first interests, what could his Lee do? He surely was not the type to twiddle his thumbs. They were in Madrid for a year and Martin had already executed three missions successfully for the agency, when Williams summoned him, and asked him to come to his office together with "Mr. Qing." Martin smiled - evidently things were going in the direction he hoped, or else they wouldn't have called his lover too. In fact, as they were in the office of the manager of the Madrid agency, the man told them he got the authorization from London, therefore he proposed that Lee also become a part of the agency and partner with Martin in his missions. Lee accepted at once with evident happiness. They quickly discussed the economic conditions and the kind of contract. Williams wanted to do a long-term contract with Lee, but this, Martin understood well, would mean he would have been forced to work for the agency for a longer period than the ten years they agreed on. Martin didn't intend to renew the contract - at that point Lee and he had a great amount of money in the bank, and they decided that, as soon as Martin was free, they would retire. Therefore at the end Lee signed a contract that tied him only until the end of Martin's contract. After a short time they finally got their first joint mission. They had to go in the residence of a financier that was suspected to be in close relations with organisations who sold weapons to several terrorist groups. From their inquiries that financier was thought to be the weak link of the chain. If they could have in their hands some documents, there was a strong probability they could also discover the organisation that smuggled the weapons and so stop that dangerous traffic. The only problem was that in the residence of that financier, Seor Palacios, which was in the top two floors on an ancient noble mansion in the centre of town, there were always at least some people inside. Also, when all the members of the family were absent for one reason or another, there always were from three to five servants, and four armed security men from a private agency. There was one in the underground, where there was the garage with the private lift for the family, one was always on the landing in front of the main entrance of the apartment where the private lift arrived on the floor before the last, one was in front of the service entrance on the last floor, and finally one on the wide roof terrace, partially made into a garden; it even had a pool. The suppliers, who got to the last floor with the service lift, were always frisked by the guard, then accompanied inside by at least one of the servants to deliver their parcels and crates, and were then accompanied back to the lift. The four men on guard did four shifts of six hours each, and the changing happened at five and eleven in the morning, and at five and eleven in the evening. The guard who had to stand on the terrace, had to pass through from the service door of the last floor and reached the roof through a service stairway. The family of the financier was composed of the man, his wife, three sons aged between nineteen and twenty-five years, and by the secretary who had his bedroom on the same floor. The safe they would have to open was in the financier's studio, on the lower floor, and the room had three access doors, one from the dressing room that also opened into the man's bedroom, a second one leading to a drawing room, that was also connected with the secretary's bedroom, and the third one opening onto the corridor. Entering into that studio in full day was absolutely unthinkable. In night time, if the financier was absent, it could be possible, provided that they managed not to be intercepted by one of the four security men or by others who slept in the house on the upper floor, used in part by the servants and in part by the three sons. On another part of the roof, separated from the wide terrace, there were the boxes with the motors of the four lifts serving the mansion, and the room that contained the huge water-supply tank for the entire house. Going in there, it was possible to pass through the roof to the terrace, but only if avoiding the guard who usually walked between the access door and the low wall with iron spikes that separated the terrace from the rest of the roof, then go downstairs for two floors without being seen or heard by the servants or the other security men, or the other inevitable inhabitants Studying the plans of the two floors, Martin and Lee saw that the windows above the studio were for three rooms defined as "depots" that were under the part of the roof which housed the water tank. Therefore they decided that the only access was, in the dead of the night, to let themselves down from the roof, pass in front of the window of one of the three rooms, which should presumably be empty at that hour, cut a glass of the studio window, and get in. To get on the roof, they could pass through the flue of one of the lifts, accessing it from the garage. But also the garage was watched by one of the security men. They discussed the problem with Williams. "It wouldn't be so difficult making you enter there. We can send in a fake control team to test the lift equipments' safety, and you two can stay up there until night time. The only problem I see that if you are seen while you are letting yourselves down or while you are coming back, we wouldn't have any means to protect you" "I think it's a risk we'll have to take and if somebody catches us, what will he do? He would call the police and you can take us out, I'm certain." Martin said shrugging his shoulders. "Yes, sure, but in the best of the chances you would become useless and in the worst, one of the security men of Seor Palacios could shoot you before calling the police." "If the documents you want are so important to you it's a risk worth taking, I think," Lee said with a smile, looking at Martin who nodded. "By your observations, does it appear that the guards on duty on the roof ever look down towards the windows?" "No, but he could do so just that time, when you are there." Williams objected. "Unless he is kept busy by something else" Martin said, thoughtful. "What else?" "For instance, if during the time we are letting ourselves down and when we are going up again there was an helicopter with a light pointing downward and it roamed around above the terrace, but on the side of the opposite faade don't you think that the guard would look up and remain with his nose in the air until the helicopter leaves?" "Yes, it's very likely." "Then it will be enough if we have a radio with which to be in contact with the helicopter to tell them how to come, how long to stay there" So, once they decided everything in the smallest details, the operation started. Martin and Lee could reach the room with the water tank without problems, where they waited for the night. At the scheduled time, they communicated with the helicopter that started to fly over the building. Martin and Lee fixed the harpoons with the winches and ropes and quickly let themselves down to the studio window. Using a diamond and a suction cup, they cut the glass of the window and opened it. They let themselves inside. Martin opened the safe in only seven minutes. They extracted all the files that interested them and filmed all the content with their digital cameras. They put everything carefully back and, to justify the cut glass, they tore apart the study, taking away a few valuable objects and the money they found in a drawer of the desk. They then called back the helicopter and started to go up. They were reaching the deposit window when they saw that this time the light inside it was switched on. Martin made a sign to Lee to go up fast, but Lee signalled him to look inside. Through the thin milk-white plastic venetian blind, that hid them from whoever was inside, but let them peep in the room, they saw something that made them smile. There was a boy, who had to be the middle son of the Palacios, wearing only the pyjamas top and naked from his waist to the lower part of his body, lying on the table on his back, his legs folded upwards towards the ceiling, and in front of his naked arse there was one of the security guards, his uniform trousers lowered to his knees, fucking him with vigorous strokes, holding him at his ankles. Lee took his digital camera and shot a set of pictures. They then went up. They took away the harpoons and the winches and went back into the room with the water tank. They communicated to the helicopter that they could leave. The day after, the fake control team went back so that Lee and Martin could mix with them, and could leave the place. When they went to give the microchips with the pictures of the documents, after unloading the shots with the sex scenes, Williams previewed the material and complimented them on a job well done. He then said, "We just had a moment of concern when, from the helicopter they told us that the guard on the terrace abandoned his place and went downstairs" "He possibly just needed to go to the toilet," Martin said. "And he needed almost one hour?" Williams asked. "He possibly was constipated" Lee suggested with a slight smile. ----------------------------- CONTINUES IN CHAPTER 16 ----------------------------- In my home page I've put some more of my stories.
